Clay Greenfield to drive for Spencer Davis Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn: Spencer Davis Motorsports (SDM) confirmed today that Clarksville, Tenn. native Clay Greenfield will drive for the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization in Thursday night’s UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

Greenfield will drive the No. 11 Toyota Tundra with primary support from Tennessee-based Greenfield Pavement Coatings.

The 18th race of the Truck Series season will be just the second race of the year for Greenfield who recently participated in the most recent race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway for his family-owned Clay Greenfield Motorsports team. He finished 19th after starting 38th.

“I am excited about the opportunity to drive for Spencer Davis Motorsports at Bristol this week,” said Greenfield. “Like myself, Spencer is trying to build a successful Truck Series organization and a lot of the guys on his team have worked for me through the years, so it’s nice to be reunited with some of them.

“This is a great opportunity for myself to help evaluate Spencer’s program while getting the opportunity to race at one of my favorite race tracks on the circuit, Bristol Motor Speedway.”

Since 2010, Greenfield, 37, has made seven starts in “Thunder Valley” with a best finish of 16th in his track debut in the O’Reilly 200 driving for Rick Ware Racing.

Carrying an average finish of 25.4 at the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile”, Greenfield looks to improve that statistic as the series enters the stretch drive of the 2021 season.

“Bristol is one of my favorite tracks and has been since the first time I turned a lap there in a Late Model in 2004,” said Greenfield. “I have had multiple “should have been wins” slip away in the Late Model ranks, so I would love to drive this No. 11 truck up on top of the building in Victory Lane!”

Utilizing his own company to adorn the hood of his No. 11 Toyota Tundra this week, Greenfield spoke about the decision to promote Greenfield Pavement Coatings.

“As a racer, you devote so much of your time trying to sell sponsorship,” he admitted. “When you finally get a meeting with the decision-maker the question always comes up “How will this help my business and what kind of results will I get?”

“There are many easy answers to that question and there are also many non-tangible benefits that are difficult to provide a quantitative answer for. Most companies aren’t going to show you their revenue information before and after sponsorship so you must rely on the feedback they give.

“I’ve often thought if I had hard data showing the increases of leads, sales closed, and revenue of a particular company before and after NASCAR sponsorship it would be so much easier to sell those sponsorships in the future

“With my paving coming, Greenfield Pavement Coatings I have the unique ability to do a case study to help sell sponsorship in the future. We have an advertising budget in place to specifically promote the paving sector of the business, I have access to all the financials, so why not put my money where my mouth is and have Greenfield Pavement Coatings on national television.

“I have the ability to record all the key data, lead increase, sales closed, and ultimately revenue increased. Who knows, I may end up wanting to keep Greenfield Pavement Coatings on the truck for future races.”

Team owner Spencer Davis says Greenfield is a welcome addition to the team.

“Clay will be the fourth driver for Spencer Davis Motorsports this season and I’m excited to have him,” offered Davis. “Between he, Bubba Wallace, Camden Murphy and myself, we are definitely collecting the notes and doing everything we can to make our team better for now and the future.

“Clay is an experienced short track racer with over 1,000 laps turned at Bristol and I think he will do a great job for us and our partners. I look forward to being in the truck next weekend at Las Vegas.”

Spencer Davis Motorsports partner INOX Supreme Lubricants will serve as a major partner for Greenfield’s 67th career Truck Series race.

INOX product range was first released in 1989 with the Original INOX MX3 Lubricant. The original MX3 product was in development stages for two years prior to release with testing and focus on creating the right product for the market.

The INOX product range continues to grow with 12 products on the market, each with their own many specialized qualities used in all different industries. All their products are tested and trialed before hitting the market to ensure the best of quality is maintained in the INOX name. INOX products are available at all major industrial, electrical, automotive, hardware, bearing and mining, marine, fishing and tackle outlets, plus many more locations.

A wholly owned Australian company Candan Industries is now exporting to over 25 countries including United States of America, Canada, France, South Africa, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Based on metrics set by NASCAR without practice or qualifying, Greenfield will lineup 34th for the 200-lap race.

Melvin “Woody” Burns who started the year with SDM as car chief will continue in his new role as crew chief for the second consecutive NCWTS race.

Following Bristol, Spencer Davis Motorsports plans to compete at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway in the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 presented by Westgate Resorts on Fri. Sept. 24. 2021.

St. Louis wins another Cup: NASCAR Cup Series coming to World Wide Technology Raceway in 2022

“It’s Cup Time” as St. Louis adds to its reputation as top U.S. sports city

September 15, 2021, St. Louis Region – World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) solidified its standing as a premier motorsports venue when NASCAR officials today awarded the 1.25-mile oval in metropolitan St. Louis a highly coveted date on the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule.

To be officially titled at a later date, the WWTR NASCAR Cup Series race will take place Sunday, June 5, 2022. Adding the prestigious NASCAR Cup Series to WWTR’s portfolio further heightens St. Louis’ status as a motorsports destination and is a significant win for the raceway. It is the only one in the U.S. to now host the premier series for each of the three preeminent racing organizations: NASCAR, INDYCAR and NHRA.

“I set some ambitious goals when I took over the racetrack and to see them come to fruition is a dream come true,” said Curtis Francois, WWTR owner. “Thanks to the hard work of our team, corporate partners such as Dave Steward and World Wide Technology, and sponsors like Bommarito Automotive Group, I am proud to welcome the NASCAR Cup Series to the St. Louis region. I can’t wait to celebrate this incredible victory with our fans.”

The NASCAR Cup Series is consumed by millions of viewers – at track, on television and through various digital platforms – on a weekly basis for 10 months a year around the globe. These races are credited with delivering millions of dollars each year to host communities. An economic impact study recently completed by The Rawlings Sports Business Management Department at Maryville University projects that this NASCAR Cup Series race will produce at least $60 million in economic impact for the St. Louis market.

“The dedication Curtis has shown to the sport of auto racing is one of many factors that led to bringing an event to the Gateway City,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR senior vice president, strategy & innovation. “The corporate and civic leadership from St. Louis and southern Illinois has been truly welcoming to NASCAR, and we cannot wait to see the NASCAR Cup Series in action at World Wide Technology Raceway.”

Since acquiring the track in 2011, Francois has mobilized millions of dollars of private investment to expand the facility and have it certified as one of the top racing venues in the country. Its signature oval is highly popular with drivers and fans alike; it combines the best of short track excitement and high-speed straightaways.

“This is a tremendous win for WWT Raceway and the St. Louis region,” said David L. Steward, founder and chairman of World Wide Technology. “World Wide Technology and the Steward Family are grateful and privileged to play a role in bringing a NASCAR Cup Series race to St. Louis fans. We are thrilled to welcome a new generation of fans to this exciting sport and to emphasize the importance of STEM education through racing.”

“Earning a NASCAR Cup race solidifies St. Louis’ position as one on the nation’s premier markets for professional sports, fan experiences and tourism,” said Andrew C. Taylor, founding chair of Greater St. Louis, Inc. and executive chairman of Enterprise Holdings Inc. “Curtis Francois and the team at the raceway have delivered a significant win for the Metro East and the entire St. Louis region.”

“Hosting the premier series from each of the major motorsports sanctioning bodies is a tremendous honor – and earning a NASCAR Cup Series race is like having the All-Star Game, Stanley Cup Finals and World Series here, every year,” said Francois. “It’s Cup time!”

Drivers are sure to deliver an exciting race for fans. “This track is super difficult. The long straights make you pay the price if you miss a corner, and both corners require different strategies, approaches and braking techniques,” explained Christopher Bell, who drives No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. Bell, who earned his first Cup win in February on the Daytona International Speedway road course, is a previous WWTR race winner with a 2016 victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

64th Annual DAYTONA 500 to Open 2022 NASCAR Cup Season While Coke Zero Sugar 400 Will Again Serve as Pivotal Cutoff Race for the Playoffs

The Great American Race Hosts Regular Season Debut of Much Anticipated NASCAR Next Gen Car
Intensity-Filled Coke Zero Sugar 400 Summer Classic set to be Final Event of Regular Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2021) – The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule was announced today, and like 2021, the DAYTONA 500, NASCAR’s biggest and most prestigious event, will kick off the season while the Coke Zero Sugar 400 will again be final race of the regular season.

The 64th annual DAYTONA 500, which has had tickets (starting at $99) on sale since June, is set for Presidents’ Day Weekend, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 (as was announced this past February during Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth). It will mark the 41st straight time (dating back to 1982) The Great American Race has started off NASCAR’s season, and it will be the site of the points-race debut of the premier series anticipated ‘Next Gen’ car. Tickets are selling fast for the DAYTONA 500 and fans are encouraged to make their plans now.

Next year’s summer classic, Coke Zero Sugar 400, is set for Saturday evening, August 27. Last month, for the second time in history, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 served as the last-chance, cutoff race for the playoffs and delivered in dramatic fashion as Tyler Reddick, through grit and determination, brought home his beaten and battered Chevrolet fifth, good enough to take the final spot in the Cup Series Playoffs. A year ago, in a “must win” situation in 2020, William Byron battled his way to his first career Cup Series win and a guaranteed spot in the Playoffs.

“The energy, excitement and sheer anticipation for the 2022 DAYTONA 500 is on a level that we haven’t seen in a long time,” said Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher. “Our fans are ready to get back to the race track to experience the pageantry of The Great American Race, as well as Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth. On the track, fans will get to witness NASCAR’s Next Gen cars battling two-and three-wide at 200 mph.

“The excitement for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 is also at an all-time high. The pressure to get into the playoffs is immense, and provides incredible, nail-biting racing on the high banks of our historic venue as has been proven the last two years. We’re looking forward to having the same level of excitement in 2022.”

The Next Gen car, a collaboration of the brightest engineering minds in racing and the automotive industry, is designed to give the drivers greater control. It will put an emphasis back on race strategies, team personnel and vehicle setups while returning the ‘stock car’ look to NASCAR. The cars are set to put on great racing for fans, incorporate relevant technology and look more like street version vehicles. Could we see a new DAYTONA 500 Champion in 2022? Earlier this year, Michael McDowell stunned the racing world by claiming his first career triumph, in the DAYTONA 500.

Fans will get to see the Next Gen cars in competition on the 31-degree banking during Thursday’s (Feb. 17) Bluegreen Vacations Duel races as part of Speedweeks Presented By AdventhHealth. The Duel qualifying events will set the starting field for the DAYTONA 500.

Guests at Daytona can experience the edge-of-your-seat excitement in a state-of-the-art motorsports facility with amenities that include more than 101,500 seats, thousands of premium club seats, 40 escalators and 17 elevators, 60 luxury suites, social “neighborhoods” and three concourse levels that span the nearly mile-long frontstretch.

Race fans travel from all over the globe to attend the DAYTONA 500, and have since its inception in 1959. Tickets for the 2022 DAYTONA 500 classic can be purchased by calling 1-800-PITSHOP or visiting www.DAYTONA500.com.

Fans wishing to attend the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 can take advantage of an early access pre-sale. About Daytona International Speedway
Daytona International Speedway is a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal’s prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of The Great American Race – the DAYTONA 500. Though the season-opening NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention – as well as the largest audience in motorsports – the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex, also known as The World Center of Racing, boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe. In addition to at least nine major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are also used extensively for events that include concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

NASCAR Announces 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule

Cup Series to Visit The Gateway City;
Homestead-Miami Speedway Returns to the Playoffs in 2022

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2021) – NASCAR today announced the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, a slate that spans 39 total events. The 2022 schedule builds on the steps taken in 2021 by adding more new and dynamic venues which will host NASCAR’s premier series for the first time.

Yesterday NASCAR announced that the Clash – NASCAR’s prelude event to the DAYTONA 500 since 1979 – will take place somewhere other than Daytona International Speedway when NASCAR visits the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 6, 2022.

The NASCAR Cup Series will visit another track for the first time when the green flag flies at World Wide Technology Raceway just outside St. Louis, Mo. on June 5.

The 1.25-mile asymmetrical oval has hosted 21 Camping World Truck Series races since 1998 and was also a part of the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule from 1997 – 2010. Numerous NASCAR legends and champions have visited Victory Lane over the years. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (1998, 1999), Kevin Harvick (2000, 2001, 2010), Kyle Busch (2009) and Brad Keselowski (2010) earned wins at World Wide Technology Raceway early in their careers.

“As we demonstrated last year, we are committed to creating the most dynamic schedule for our fans, long term,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR senior vice president of strategy and innovation. “With the addition of new and unique venues like the Coliseum and World Wide Technology Raceway, each in markets with passionate NASCAR fans, we’re continuing to build on bold changes to deliver the best racing in the world.

“This latest iteration of the schedule should lend itself to another season filled with drama and great racing on the track, starting with the DAYTONA 500 and culminating with NASCAR Championship Weekend at Phoenix Raceway.”

In another move – and a nod to recent history – Homestead-Miami Speedway will return to the Playoff mix. The popular 1.5-mile destination track will be a key venue when it hosts the second of three Round of 8 races on Oct. 23. In addition, Texas (Sept. 25) and Las Vegas (Oct. 16) will swap dates and lead off the Round of 12 and Round of 8, respectively.

In addition, Kansas will move up in the Playoffs schedule, becoming the second race in the Round of 16 (Sept. 11).

The 2022 season will officially kick off with the running of The Great American Race – the DAYTONA 500 – at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, Feb. 20 live on FOX – an event that will also host the regular season points race debut of the Next Gen race car. The Cup Series will then immediately head back out West, beginning with a stop at Auto Club Speedway on Feb. 27 – the first time NASCAR will visit the high-speed two-mile oval in nearly two years – followed by Las Vegas Motor Speedway (March 6) and Phoenix Raceway (March 13).

The Bristol Dirt Race returns to the schedule, this time under the lights on Easter Sunday Night (April 17). The NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race will also return to Texas Motor Speedway in 2022. The annual event featuring NASCAR’s biggest stars will shift to earlier in the season when festivities get underway on May 22.

After a natural off-week (June 19) following the conclusion of FOX Sports’ Cup Series coverage, Nashville Superspeedway will again kick off the NBC Sports’ portion of the schedule on June 26. The action in the Music City will immediately be followed by another fan favorite, Road America, which will highlight Fourth of July festivities for the second consecutive season.

Watkins Glen International will host the penultimate race of the regular season (Aug. 21) followed by an intense regular season finale under the lights at Daytona International Speedway (Aug. 27) – two distinctly different but equally pivotal tracks in determining the NASCAR Playoffs field.

As previously announced, Phoenix Raceway will be the home to NASCAR Championship Weekend for the third consecutive year, Nov. 4 – 6.

Start times and specific networks will be announced at a later date, as will the 2022 schedules for the NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
