DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (November 3, 2025) – The Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Daytona Classic 24 Hour presented by Mission Foods begins its second decade of competition this weekend at Daytona International Speedway (DIS), November 5 – 9, where America’s premier historic and vintage 24-hour race runs for the 11th time.

A typically strong entry of first-time hopefuls and former and defending race winners is set for the 11th HSR Daytona Classic 24 from 2 p.m. EST this Saturday, November 8, until the final checkered flag of the weekend waves just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9. The full weekend of competition on the 3.56-mile Daytona road course also features the HSR Daytona Historics, which is a points-paying round of HSR’s season-long racing series and championships from Thursday, November 6, through early Saturday afternoon.

First run in 2014, with initial plans to be held every other year, the immediate popularity and success of the inaugural HSR Daytona Classic 24 Hour called for a second running in 2015. After a year off, the 24-Hour classic race at the “World Center of Racing” returned in 2017 and is now an annual and premier fixture on the HSR calendar and a “must-do” and “must-attend” motorsports event for competitors and race fans alike.

The HSR Daytona Classic 24 features seven different Run Groups competing in succession for a full 24 hours on the DIS road course. The various period-correct classes within each Run Group combine to make almost all closed-wheel competition sports cars from the last seven decades eligible for Classic 24 competition.

Run Group E has the honor of rolling off first for the official start of the 11th HSR Daytona Classic 24 this Saturday at 2 p.m. EST, a more than fitting “opening act” considering the group is home to competitors and GT Modern (GTM) cars from HSR’s recently announced Mission GT Challenge series. Group E is traditionally an intense battle throughout the entire 24 hours and produced last year’s closest race finish.

After Group E kicks things off, the race quickly shifts back in time more than 50 years with the first Run Group A segment. Featuring the oldest cars in the race, with all but one entry from the 1960s or early ’70s, Group A features top prototypes of the era, like the Lola T70, and a strong contingent of GT Classic (GTC) entries such as Porsche 911s and 914s, a Shelby Cobra CSX4000 and a Datsun 240Z.

The longest race on the HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods schedule, the Daytona Classic 24 has seen more than one GT team out last and even out race the prototype contingent for an upset victory. Run Group A could be on spoiler alert this year.

The HSR Daytona Historics schedule is just as busy as the Classic 24’s timeline. A full slate of HSR feature races and a pair of WeatherTech Sprints for all Run Groups – including HSR Prototype Challenge presented by Michelin and Mission Challenge GT Challenge competitors – takes place in a seemingly non-stop schedule from Friday morning through early Saturday afternoon.

Daytona Historics feature races include an HSR Global GT sprint, a 90-minute HSR Prototype Challenge presented by Michelin and a one-hour B.R.M Chronographes Endurance Challenge race for the GTC, Historic and Vintage classes, all on Friday. Saturday’s feature race slate includes the weekend’s second and B.R.M Chronographes Endurance Challenge one-hour race for the GTM, Prototype Modern and Historic Sports divisions and the always popular HSR SascoSports International/American Challenge presented by Hoosier.

The five-day schedule of historic and vintage competition at DIS begins Wednesday with a test session for all Run Groups and classes in both the Classic 24 and Daytona Historics.

Flying Lizard Motorsports Closes out 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Season in Italy

MISANO ADRIATICO, Italy (November 3, 2025) – The 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season reaches its dramatic finale this week at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, where Flying Lizard Motorsports will take on both the final rounds of the North American championship and the prestigious World Finals.

“Misano is an incredible venue to wrap up the season,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “It’s a technical track that rewards precision and teamwork, two things our drivers have shown all season long. We’re proud of how consistent both cars have been and look forward to finishing strong in both the North American finale and the World Finals.”

The 2.626-mile, 16-turn Italian circuit, located roughly 116 miles from Florence, will host competitors from the North America, Europe, and Asia series in a global showdown to determine the best of the best in Lamborghini one-make racing.

Before the world stage begins, the North American contingent will complete its final two championship rounds on Thursday, November 6 and Friday, November 7, following a full day of testing and qualifying on Wednesday, November 5. The combined World Finals will take place over the weekend, with qualifying on Saturday morning and races Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

Flying Lizard enters the season finale with both of its Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 entries sitting inside the top four in championship standings. Paul Nemschoff and Marc Miller, drivers of the No. 141 entry, currently hold third place with 75 points, just eight points shy of second and 15 behind the leaders, Daurius Trinka and Tadas Karlinskas. Teammates Slade Stewart and Andy Lee, in the No. 114 car, sit just three points back in fourth with 72 points.

The No. 114 pairing earned Flying Lizard’s sole victory of the 2025 season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, adding to the two-car effort that has produced eight podium finishes and 12 top-five results in 2025. Both driver lineups will be fighting to close out the year on a high note and carry momentum into the international World Finals. All races will air live on the IMSA YouTube Channel or the Lamborghini Squadra Corse YouTube channel.

The White Zone: I won’t miss this championship format

Three laps.

Denny Hamlin was three laps away from his first NASCAR Cup Series championship. He dominated the day, leading 208 laps and winning the second stage. In the closing laps, he pulled away to a three-second lead, like he did all day. After almost 20 years in the Cup Series, the stars finally aligned for the driver from Chesterfield, Virginia. At long last, Hamlin would unshackle himself from the ghost of 2010 and the four other Championship 4 appearances where he came up short.

Then, William Byron cut a tire and hit the wall.

With overtime coming up, all but three drivers pitted under the caution. Hamlin took four tires, while several others, including Kyle Larson, took two. He restarted two rows behind Larson, but ran out of time and finished runner-up in the points.

If this was the last winner-take-all championship race, I won’t miss it.

It was a perfect little microcosm of my biggest problem with the championship race: Rather than season-long performance dictating the champion, we leave it to a game of roulette where any problem outside of your control can cost you the championship. We almost saw this, Friday with the Craftsman Truck Series race. We saw this Saturday in the XFINITY Series race and we saw it Sunday in the Cup Series race.

All this leaves us with fans complaining about the outcome and questioning the legitimacy of the champion. To the point that people track how the championship would’ve played out in a 36-race format in comparison.

It’s happened year after year since the introduction of this format in 2014.

Thankfully, this was almost certainly the last time we’ll see it.

The White Zone: I won’t miss this championship format

Making the rounds in the rumor mill for months now is that NASCAR will change the playoff format for the 2026 season by moving away from the championship race format. What I’ve heard the most is either a three or four-race final round, a return to the original playoff format of a 10-race mini-season, or even doing away with the playoffs entirely and returning to a 36-race points season.

Now, as much as the purist in me wants the latter, my money’s on the first two options. Even though any argument against a full-season points battle, particularly with attention spans and whether people will watch if the title is clinched before the final race, falls flat when the NTT IndyCar Series has seen its ratings climb for years, including 2025, even with a season-long format.

But that’s neither here nor there.

The point is that this was probably the last winner-take-all all championship race we’ll see in NASCAR. And while I have problems with a three or four-race format and a 10-race mini-season, it’s a step up from the winner-take-all all format.

We’ll find out sometime during the offseason what the new format is. If this was the last, however, I won’t miss it.

That’s my view, for what it’s worth.

AVONDALE, AZ – November 3, 2025 – Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney won Sunday’s season finale race at Phoenix Raceway, marking his fourth win of the 2025 season and the 17th of his NASCAR Cup Series career. This victory also represents Ford’s 748th all-time win in NASCAR Cup Series history and the 107th Cup Series triumph for Team Penske with Ford.

“Congratulations to Roger, Michael, Jonathan, Ryan, and everyone at Team Penske on the race win at Phoenix,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The Team Penske cars showed speed throughout the weekend and positioned themselves for the win during the final laps. Capping off the season with a win is good and we are already working on 2026 with Ford Racing!”

“It’s just cool to end it on a good note. It’s just cool and obviously we had a fast car all day. Those other guys were just kind of faster getting going and I could never retain the lead. Those guys were just really good and it took my car a while to come in, but it was a really good call for two there and keeping track position. I got a decent restart and I was able to kind of roll the bottom in three and four and seek the 6 out at the line. I’m just really proud of the whole group and cool to end it in Victory Lane,” commented Blaney.

Five Ford Racing drivers started Sunday’s race from the top-10: Team Penske’s Austin Cindric in P4 and Ryan Blaney in P5, Wood Brothers Racing’s Josh Berry in P7, RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher in P9, and Team Penske’s Joey Logano in P10. Stage 1 of the race set the tone for the finale, featuring several lead changes and tight battles for track position. A caution near the end of the stage tightened the field and reset the momentum, bunching up the leaders for a short sprint to the green-checkered flag. Four Ford Racing drivers finished the stage in the top-10: Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney in P2, Austin Cindric in P4, and Joey Logano in P8, and RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher in P9. Stage 2 kicked off with an intense battle for the lead between Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney, as the two traded positions multiple times while navigating lapped traffic and managing tire wear. An incident near the end of the stage brought out a caution, causing the stage to finish under yellow. Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney finished in P2 and Joey Logano finished in P8. The final stage unfolded over the remaining 134 scheduled laps but extended into overtime. With just a few laps to go, a late caution reset the field, forcing teams to gamble on pit strategy and tire choices. On the final restart, Ryan Blaney powered his way to the front, passing Brad Keselowski in the closing laps to take the checkered flag.

Five Ford Racing drivers finished the race in the top-10: Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney in P1, RFK Racing’s Brad Keselowski in P2, Team Penske’s Joey Logano in P4, Wood Brothers Racing’s Josh Berry in P7, and RFK Racing’s Ryan Preece in P9.

CORVETTE RACING AT BAHRAIN: TF Title Tilt!

Pair of TF Sport Corvettes alive for top LMGT3 championship positions in WEC finale

DETROIT (November 3, 2025) – It all comes down to this for TF Sport in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The UK-based team and its pair of Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs are prepped and ready for the Eight Hours of Bahrain, which is the eighth and final round on this year’s FIA WEC calendar.

A year after both Corvettes finished on the LMGT3 podium, TF Sport is eyeing bigger things Saturday – namely the class Drivers and Teams championships. Each of the yellow Z06 GT3.Rs remain alive for top-three finishes in the LMGT3 championship with the No. 81 Corvette alive for the title heading to the 3.363-mile, 15-turn Bahrain International Circuit.

No. 81 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R – Charlie Eastwood/Rui Andrade/Tom Van Rompuy

A victory last time out for Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy put the trio and the No. 81 Corvette into championship position heading to Bahrain.

It was the long-awaited first WEC win for the trio and the third podium in four races after scoring points in just one of the first three rounds. They were also runners-up a year ago at Bahrain where Eastwood starred late in a push for the class win.

A second triumph wouldn’t clinch the LMGT3 championship for the No. 81 Corvette but it would be close. The championship leader – the No. 92 Porsche – needs to finish fourth or better to eliminate the TF Sport Corvette. But a fifth-place finish for the No. 92 coupled with a third-place finish for the No. 21 Ferrari and win plus a point for pole position would give Eastwood, Andrade and Van Rompuy the championship due to two victories for each but no other podiums for the Porsche. With a win but no pole, TF Sport needs the No. 92 to finish sixth or worse.

Should the Porsche score zero points, the No. 81 Corvette needs to finish second and the No. 21 place no better than sixth. There are also additional scenarios involving the two cars in a head-to-head matchup where tiebreakers can come into play.

No. 33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 GT3.R – Daniel Juncadella/Jonny Edgar/Ben Keating

The championship picture for Daniel Juncadella, Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating took a major hit after the Fuji race as a post-race penalty sent it out the points and championship contention.

A race win and pole position would put the No. 33 Corvette into a tie with the No. 92 if the latter doesn’t score points; the tiebreaker would go to the Porsche.

Winners in the season-opening race in Qatar, the Juncadella/Edgar/Keating trio can still become only the second entry to take two LMGT3 victories this year by capturing the race at Bahrain.

Juncadella was part of the third-place lineup in class a year ago in TF Sport’s second Corvette. Keating drove a Corvette C8.R at Bahrain on his way to the GTE Am championship, and Edgar has Formula 3 experience at the circuit in the past.

The Eight Hours of Bahrain is scheduled for 2 p.m. AST / 6 a.m. ET Saturday. DANIEL JUNCADELLA, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We have a good chance at second or third in the championship. We won’t have any of success weight, so we will have that advantage over our rivals. Last year we had a really good delta on tire deg compared to the other cars. That’s where the weight will have some impact. It’s a very particular track with the heat and tire deg, which is incredibly high. We have a harder compound this year, which isn’t as good as the medium tire for us. But still, I’m hopeful for a positive result for both cars. Hopefully, there are reasons to celebrate after the race. We should be competitive and it’s a cool place to race and the track is nice. There is a lot of asphalt runoff, which normally isn’t a favorite for me. Being so dusty and sandy with the wind, anything other than the ideal racing line is very slippery. It’s a cooler and more fun track than I thought when I first got there.”

JONNY EDGAR, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Bahrain last year obviously was very good for the team with a double podium. I think with it being a high-deg track, we should expect to be pretty good on the tires. The Corvette is normally pretty good on tires. I’m looking forward to being back at a track that I’ve been to before. From Le Mans onward, all the tracks have been new to me so it’s nice to be back at a track that I’ve been to before. I know the track quite well so I’m excited to go back. Hopefully, we can finish the year with a good weekend. We’ve had quite a lot of bad luck from quite early in the season, and it would be nice to finish with a good race.”

BEN KEATING, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “There is still a lot at stake for us at Bahrain, namely a top-three finish in the championship. That would be a really good achievement in my first year back with TF Sport and the Corvette in the WEC. I’ve won this race before and enjoy the track. Let’s see how it goes but we will go out racing hard, for sure.”

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “If you go into a championship race with a chance and don’t believe you can do it, it’s definitely the wrong mindset. I totally think we can get the championship. It doesn’t take much with so many points on offer. I did the permutations the other day that the Porsche needs to finish sixth or something like that. But in such a tight field like we saw in Fuji, in a blink we win it and in the same blink the 33 finishes eighth. We were very similar in pace and very similar in every sense. Back in 2020, I had a 20-point lead going into the last race and lost. Going in this year 24 points behind, hopefully we can win it this time. It’s not vastly different from our situation going into Portimão for ELMS, and that worked out great for us. So hopefully we can get a repeat of that at Bahrain. The Corvette is super good around there. We were very fast and nearly got our first win there last year. As a team and driver crew, we are better than we were this time last year. The hard tire will help some of the others, for sure. But I am very much looking forward to it.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m excited to have the opportunity to go into Bahrain and still have a shot at the championship. We didn’t have the easiest of starts to the year but since Le Mans the entire 81 crew has been on fire with three podiums and a special win in Fuji. It won’t be easy but we will give it our all, just like we did at Portimão in winning the ELMS championship. It will be a long and difficult race but after our Corvettes finished P3 and P2 in last year’s Eight Hours of Bahrain, everyone at TF is very motivated to try and climb one step higher on the podium and finish the year on a high.”
