WORLD SUPERCROSS HITS FIVE CONTINENTS AS IT UNVEILS HISTORIC 2025 SEASON CALENDAR

  • The FIM World Supercross Championship announces a five-round global schedule for 2025, spanning five continents.
  • The season kicks off in Malaysia before heading to Argentina, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
  • Four cities will host World Supercross racing for the very first time.

London, UK, Thursday 5th June 2025: The highly anticipated 2025 FIM World Supercross Championship calendar has been officially unveiled, featuring a five-round schedule that will deliver an unprecedented global line up, spanning five continents. With a dynamic mix of iconic cities and fresh destinations, the 2025 season reaffirms World Supercross’ mission to take world-class supercross to fans across the globe.

The action kicks off on 18th October in Kuala Lumpur, at Stadium Merdeka, marking World Supercross’ first-ever round in Malaysia. This stop, promoted by Data Sukan Sdn Bhd, will set the stage for an electrifying season opener, showcasing the growing enthusiasm for supercross in Southeast Asia and spotlighting the increasing influence of the city on the global stage.

From there, the championship heads to Buenos Aires City, Argentina, on 8th November at the Oscar & Juan Gálvez Racetrack. With Argentina’s deep motorsport heritage, the round – promoted by EDV Entertainment – is set to delight the passionate fans in a nation steeped in motorsport history.

Next, World Supercross touches down in Vancouver, Canada, returning to North America at BC Place on 15th November. Last year marked competitive supercross’ long-awaited return to the region for the first time in 20 years, and now Vancouver is set to deliver another night of high-energy atmosphere and spectacular racing.

On 29th November, the championship heads Down Under for the Australian GP at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast, Australia. This marks a return to Australia, after a successful double-header in Perth last year. With Australia’s rich history in supercross and a passionate fanbase, the racing will deliver an unforgettable experience as World Supercross continues its strong presence in the country.

The 2025 season concludes with a historic South African GP in Cape Town on 13th December at the DHL Stadium. As World Supercross’ first-ever round in Africa, this milestone round – promoted by Showtime Management – marks the championship’s expansion into a new continent, bringing elite supercross competition to one of the world’s most vibrant sporting nations. As the season’s grand finale, where the 2025 World Supercross Champions will be crowned, the South African GP promises to be a dramatic and unforgettable conclusion to an incredible season of racing.

The 2025 season, the second under SX Global management, also marks the launch of a fresh new look for World Supercross – reflecting what makes it stand out as the only Supercross championship that takes the sport around the world. At the heart of the rebrand is a curved, globe-inspired logo – a shape that reflects the international scale of the series and the millions of dirt bike fans worldwide.

The tough, edgy new “W” takes its cues from the rugged design of supercross tyres. It’s a mark built to represent the grit, energy, and momentum of the sport. Fans will see this new identity come to life throughout the season – across visuals, photography, digital platforms, and at rounds around the world.

Tom Burwell, CEO of SX Global, said: “The 2025 calendar is a defining moment for World Supercross, as we continue to push the sport to new territories and audiences. Expanding into new regions like Malaysia, Argentina and South Africa, alongside returning to key markets like Canada and Australia, highlights our vision to make supercross a truly global spectacle. Delivering elite supercross racing to five continents for the first time is a huge moment. This will be the biggest and best season yet.”

Antonio Alia Portela, FIM Motocross Commission Director, added: “SX Global is laying the foundations for a bold new era for the FIM World Supercross Championship. Having delivered an exciting championship of racing last year, they are proving their ambition this season by taking supercross further across the globe and creating a World Championship for fans in every continent to get excited about. Starting with a statement event in Kuala Lumpur before concluding in Cape Town, we are excited to see the best riders on the planet battle once again for the ultimate prize – the title of World Champion.”

Eli Tomac (450cc), Shane McElrath (250cc), and Fire Power Honda (Team) claimed victory in 2024, but with a new season comes fresh rivalries, intense battles, and the opportunity for new riders to make their mark on a global stage.

Team and rider announcements will be released throughout the year as the pace picks up to the first gate drop in Kuala Lumpur.

21 Team Celebrating Wood Brothers’ Win In Inaugural Michigan Cup Race

As part of the Wood Brothers’ celebration of 75 years in the sport, Josh Berry and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team are running a paint scheme this weekend at Michigan International Speedway commemorating the Wood’s victory in the track’s inaugural NASCAR race.

On June 15, 1969, in the Motor State 500, Cale Yarborough drove the Woods’ 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II (A Cale Yarborough Special Edition produced by Ford that was painted much like the one one Mustang Dark Horse that Berry will race this weekend). That race ended with a dramatic, door-to-door shootout between Yarborough and LeeRoy Yarbrough, which ended with Cale speeding away to victory while LeeRoy hit the wall but recovered to finish fourth behind David Pearson and Richard Petty. It was the first of 11 wins at Michigan for the Woods.

The next race at Michigan, the Yankee 600 on August 17 of the same year, was plagued by rain. The race, scheduled to be 600 miles, ended a little after the halfway mark with Pearson, then driving for Holman-Moody, taking the win over Buddy Baker, Richard Petty and Yarborough.

Back at Michigan the next year, with the race shortened to 400 miles, Yarborough’s No. 21 Mercury fell two laps off the pace, but Yarborough eventually rejoined the lead lap and passed Pete Hamilton with two laps remaining to take the win.

All told, Yarborough, who had just one career Cup victory before joining the Woods, won 13 races in the No. 21 including the 1968 Daytona 500 and the Firecracker 400 at Daytona as well as the 1968 Southern 500 at Darlington. His first win with the Woods came at Atlanta in 1967, and he also won there in 1969 leading 308 of 334 laps in the first time out with a Boss 429 engine under the hood. He won at Atlanta again in 1969. Yarborough and the Woods accomplished all that despite running a limited schedule their entire time together.

Leonard Wood described Yarborough as “one of the hardest drivers there’s ever been in NASCAR.” He said the Woods hired Yarborough on the recommendation of Charlie Gray, then the coordinator of Ford’s drag racing and NASCAR racing efforts. Yarborough also had made a good impression on the Woods in his early years in the sport. “He ran really well in a Sportsman race at Daytona,” Wood said. “And he was running really well in Banjo Matthews’ Ford. He drove 110 percent all the time.”

Now it’s the Josh Berry era in the history of the Wood Brothers.

Berry and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew, with a win at Las Vegas in March securing them a Playoff berth, now are looking for their second win together.

“I’m really happy with the consistent performance we’ve had,” Berry said. “Sure, there have been times we’ve missed out on the finishes we deserved or let some opportunities slip. But overall, I think we’ve done a great job qualifying well and racing strong. If we keep tightening up the little things and minimizing mistakes, the results will start coming our way more often.”

Berry said he has some added motivation heading into this weekend at Michigan.

“The Wood Brothers have a great history at Michigan, and we’re looking forward to going out there with our throwback scheme and putting together a solid weekend in Ford’s backyard,” he said.

Practice for the FireKeepers Casino 400 is set for Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, followed by qualifying at 10:40. Sunday’s 200-lap, 400-mile race is scheduled to start just after 2 p.m., with Stage breaks planned for Laps 45 and 120. Amazon Prime will carry the TV coverage all weekend.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Is it TF Sport’s Time?

Championship-leading program comes in with high hopes for Le Mans victory

DETROIT (June 5, 2025) – TF Sport and members of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R program are eager to take all the lessons and all the experience from their past 18 months together and turn it into a victory in the world’s biggest sports car race.

Two Corvettes from TF Sport are part of the LMGT3 grid for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans – starting with Sunday’s Test Day – and the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The pair of entries are part of a three-car Corvette contingent among the 24 cars in the class for this year’s event, which kicks off with Sunday’s annual Le Mans Test Day and includes fellow Corvette team AWA.

The TF Sport squad is going for a third class win at Le Mans while the Corvette Racing program can make it 10 victories since 2001.

The team’s trio of Daniel Juncadella, Jonny Edgar and Ben Keating lead the WEC’s LMGT3 Drivers Championship standings on the strength of a victory at Qatar in their No. 33 Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Across the garage, the No. 81 Corvette lineup of Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy are hoping to join their teammates as race winners for TF Sport in the trio’s second year together at Le Mans.

Each of the six drivers have different previous experiences at Le Mans. Eastwood and Keating are both past-winners of the race with Keating twice a winner, including in 2023 in a Corvette C8.R. Andrade is a past runner-up, Van Rompuy has two previous starts, Juncadella debuted last year and Edgar is a Le Mans rookie.

Two three-hour sessions are on the schedule for Sunday’s Test Day, which is the first time since last year’s final lap that cars will have the chance to run on the full 8.47-mile Le Mans circuit – a mix of permanent racetrack and public roads. The Test Day is valuable with only a three-hour Free Practice on Wednesday ahead of the first round of qualifying later in the day.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is scheduled for 10 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. CET on Saturday, June 14. MotorTrend will air the full race live in the U.S., with full live streaming coverage of all on-track sessions – including qualifying and Hyperpole – will be available through the MAX app in the U.S. Radio Le Mans also will provide live streaming audio coverage of all sessions as well.

TF SPORT PRE-EVENT QUOTES

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Le Mans is such an incredible place. The track itself is one that on paper you don’t think is a challenge because there are a lot of long straights and there aren’t that many corners for such a long track. You’d think it is fairly easy but it’s incredible the aura that the place has. There is something you can feel and it’s impressive. I was grateful to experience that for the first time last year.

“It’s a big thing that we have had pretty flawless races so far. The team has really taken a step forward in the right direction. It’s no secret that the driver lineup is incredibly good. Both Ben and Jonny are really, really good. Having Tyler (Neff, race engineer) with us this year brought us some fresh ideas and experience with the Corvette. The Z06 GT3.R is in its second year and we have a season of experience with it in the bag so that helps a lot in terms of reliability and many other things. It’s a great year to be part of this lineup and this team. We’re having very clean races and that also pays off with consistency for scoring results and points.”

JONNY EDGAR, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: I am looking forward to competing in my first 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a race I have watched for a long time and have always been interested to compete in so it is amazing I have finally got the opportunity to do so. If we can carry on the great work everyone has done this season then I am confident we will have a good result as we have managed to execute all three races very well so far this season. The whole team has done an amazing job.

“I cannot wait to drive the track for the first time, I am sure it will be very enjoyable in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. It is very exciting to be racing alongside Ben and Dani at this race. Ben has had lots of success here with both Corvette and TF Sport so I am sure he will have lots of helpful advice for me, and Dani raced here last year with the Corvette so he will also be able to help me a lot as well.”

BEN KEATING, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “So far this season, the team has performed FLAWLESSLY! It has been very impressive and it is why we have seen the results. It’s no surprise given my past history with both TF Sport and the Corvette. There’s no reason to think we can’t keep the same incredible team performance for Le Mans.

“My first memory of Le Mans was in 2014 when I went as a spectator not knowing anything about it. I slept on the floor of the hospitality tent. I walked many miles. I felt like a little kid where everything was a new experience. To me what makes Le Mans special is that excitement and energy surrounding the event – everything from the public scrutineering to the parade to the race itself. This is a result of the history and mostly because of the fans. Le Mans is not a race. Le Mans is an event.”

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We haven’t had the performance or results on our side, but the thing I’m really hopeful about is that as a crew, as a team and as a Corvette program, we’re executing some really good races. When you get to Le Mans, it’s what I actually love so much about it – even over other 24-hour events – it’s not like Daytona where you have so many cautions and you can get back into the race and back onto the lead lap. In Le Mans, if you make a mistake in the first hour then you have to be very fast to make that back up. With the energy side of things, we’ll probably have 27 or 27 pit stops. Our guys have gotten super-quick at tire changes and the strategy has been very good in the last few events. When you add that up across 26 stops versus just four stops, it can make a big difference in the pitlane.

“On top of that, both Rui and Tom – especially Rui as he is doing a geo-program in ELMS and then straight into a WEC race – are driving incredibly well, love the car and are able to extract speed out of it. So from our side when you look at the lineup, we’re pretty strong in that regard. No, we didn’t have a great race there last year but as a team and a car, we’ve made massive strides in a lot of areas so hopefully that will play into our favor.”

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m very excited to be back at Le Mans as always. For us it’s definitely the biggest race of the year and the one everyone wants to win. Last year was difficult but we’ve made steps forward as a team, and I know my teammates and I are ready for the challenge ahead.

“I personally definitely feel stronger this year which is a good confidence boost going into Le Mans. It’s a very long race and all three drivers need to be at their very best in order for the team to perform well. So hopefully I can keep my personal momentum going so we can fight for the win.”

What is the Cheapest Way to Ship a Motorcycle Bike?

Shipping a motorcycle to a new place might initially look pricey and bothersome. However, it can be done more easily and affordably. Whether you’re relocating, selling your bike, or planning a long-distance trip, finding an affordable motorcycle shipping service can save you hundreds of dollars. So, let’s explore budget-friendly options to ship a motorcycle.

So, What’s The Cheapest Way to Transport a Motorcycle?

The cheapest way to transport a motorcycle is by using open-air shipping through a motorcycle transport company. Open carriers cost between $300 and $500 for short distances and $600 to $800 cross-country. DIY transport using a rented trailer may cost less, but it increases risk and effort.

How Much Does it Cost to Ship a Motorcycle Across the US?

Shipping a motorcycle to the US typically costs between $500 and $1,500. The final price depends on factors like distance, shipping method (air or sea), motorcycle size, and whether the transport is door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal.

  • Distance: Longer hauls: higher fuel and labor costs.
  • Transport method: Air freight ($$$) vs. sea freight ($$) vs. ground ($).
  • Motorcycle size/weight: Bulkier bikes (e.g., Harley touring models) cost more.
  • Door-to-door vs. terminal: Door delivery adds 15-30% to terminal drop-off rates.
  • Season/timing: Summer/peak seasons spike demand (and prices).
  • International: Customs fees, import taxes, or crate fees can add $200−1,000+.

4 Common Motorcycle Shipping Methods

The following are the different options available to transport your bike based on charges, protection offered, and convenience

1. Open Transport

Open transport is one of the most affordable bike shipping options for transporting motorcycles. A motorbike transport company uses open trailers where motorcycles are usually stacked.

This may not be the ideal method for extra protection, but it is the cheapest and most popular, with a single shipment costing between $300 and $800.

Furthermore, open carriers are widely available, allowing faster bookings. However, the risk of damage due to exposed elements is minimal for standard motorbikes.

2. Enclosed Transport

When a motorcycle is shipped in a completely covered trailer or container, it is referred to as enclosed transport. This option works best for custom, vintage, or expensive motorcycles as it offers the utmost protection from the elements. For instance, weather, dust, or theft.

However, as with any added security, there is a cost. Enclosed motorcycle transport is usually 30% to 50% more expensive than open transport, costing anywhere between $800 and $1,500. Moreover, you may need to wait longer with tough scheduling options due to the limited availability of enclosed carriers.

3. Crated Shipping

In crate shipping, the motorcycle is transported in a custom wooden or metal crate, making it one of the most secure options.

Crated shipping makes it possible to offer stability, preventing movement or external damage during transport, whether it be domestic or international. Due to the extra protection, crate shipping is typically used for overseas shipments or long hauls.

One of the drawbacks of this shipping method is that you have to disassemble your bike. Moreover, the fees range between $800 and $1,500+.

4. DIY Transport

With do-it-yourself transport, one option will be renting a U-Haul truck or a trailer and transporting the motorcycle on your own. While it may appear cost-effective, DIY transport has its pitfalls, such as fuel and equipment expenditure.

If an individual is transporting, he must plan ahead to take care of timing factors. It will cost anywhere between $150 to $400, but the risk of damage is higher without experience.

Moreover, there is no insurance, so this option is far less attractive, limiting the range of relocations to nearby places only.

Shipping MethodCost RangeProtection Level
Open Transport$300 – $800Moderate
Enclosed Transport$800 – $1,500High
Crated Shipping$800 – $1,500+Maximum
DIY Transport$150 – $400Low

How to Ship a Motorcycle Cheaply?

1. Compare Quotes Strategically to Unlock Competitive Rates

To secure the cheapest way to ship a motorcycle, obtain quotes from at least 3–5 motorbike transport companies. These companies provide instant estimates, but direct negotiation often yields better deals.

Furthermore, get binding quotes as they ensure no surprises in your affordable bike shipping plan. Prioritize carriers with transparent pricing, and leverage discounts (AAA, military, etc.) to reduce costs further.

2. Opt for Open Transport to Slash Costs by 25–50%

Open transport is the most affordable bike shipping method, costing $0.40–$1.00 per mile versus $1.42+ for enclosed motorcycle transport.

While exposed to the weather, this works well for standard bikes. Reputable motorbike transport companies use secure tie-down systems.

Reserve enclosed motorcycle transport only for high-value bikes needing climate protection. For example, a 1,500-mile open shipment costs $650–$1,200, while an enclosed shipment exceeds $1,000.

3. Book During Off-Peak Seasons for Significant Discounts

Winter (November–February) offers 20–30% savings on motorcycle shipping services due to lower demand. Carriers run promotions during this period. Avoid peak events (e.g., Sturgis Rally) and book 4–6 weeks early.

Flexibility with dates aligns with carrier routes, enhancing affordable bike shipping opportunities. For instance, a summer $1,200 shipment might drop to $900 in winter.

4. Self-Crate Your Motorcycle to Eliminate Packaging Fees

DIY crating saves $150–$500 compared to professional services when you ship a motorcycle. Use a wooden crate sized to your bike, and secure it with straps and padding. Remove detachable parts (mirrors, windshields) to minimize risks.

Note: Some motorbike transport companies require certified crates, so confirm guidelines first. This step ensures your enclosed motorcycle transport (if needed) stays cost-effective.

5. Choose Terminal-to-Terminal Delivery to Avoid Surcharges

Terminal-to-terminal shipping cuts costs by $100–$200 compared to door-to-door. Companies optimize routes between hubs, avoiding rural fees. While enclosed motorcycle transport is pricier, this method keeps even protected shipments affordable. Factor in transportation to terminals—rent a trailer or borrow a truck for short trips to maximize savings.

Can FedEx or USPS ship a motorcycle?

FedEx can ship a motorcycle using its Freight Priority or Freight Economy services with crating. USPS does not ship motorcycles because it limits shipments to 70 lbs, and motorcycles exceed this weight. FedEx is not cheap, so for motorcycle transport, a motorbike transport company with specialized carriers is recommended.

Ford Performance Notes and Quotes – Chris Buescher Heads to Michigan With Hopes of a Second Cup Win

Ford Performance Notes and Quotes

Wednesday, June 4, 2025

Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 RFK Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse, has one career NASCAR Cup Series victory at this week’s stop on the circuit – Michigan International Speedway. Buescher answered questions from the media earlier today about the test session he participated in a few weeks ago and what makes MIS a favorite among drivers.

CHRIS BUESCHER, No. 17 RFK Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse – EVERYONE ASKS ABOUT THIS WEEKEND BEING THE HOME OF JACK ROUSH, BRAD KESELOWSKI AND FORD. IS THIS WEEKEND A DIFFERENT FEELING? “There’s a little added pressure behind everything heading into everybody’s home track. Fortunately, we’ve got a third car and it’s not Preece’s home track, so at least there are two of us this year, but it’s a big one as we head up there. We have a lot going on. We’ll get to see a lot of the Ford family and get to see a lot of Jack and the Roush automotive family that will come out to the racetrack and be a part of the weekend. It’s a big deal. It really is, so I’m excited to get back up there. We got to do the tire test there a couple months ago, so I felt like that went really strong for us and I’m ready to get on track. It’s gonna be really fast to fire off with the weather looking like it’s gonna be in the seventies.”

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM THAT TEST BECAUSE DANIEL SUAREZ SAID HE DIDN’T LEARN ANYTHING BECAUSE HE CRASHED? “Fortunately, my story doesn’t go like that. I know we had some of our own issues showing up there and it took us a little time to get sorted out. It turned into a one-day test because of weather, so I think it ended up being 8–8 or something like that. It was a long test day for everybody, but the team did a good job. We got everything rolling in the right direction and you always learn a couple things for yourself and then as we got into sets of tires and different options, we made short and long runs and ultimately I think we didn’t have to tune on our race car a whole lot, which makes me really confident going back. We threw a lot of different tire options at it, so I think what we ended up with and what I think we’re going back with – and maybe I’m gonna be incorrect on this – but should be the same left side that we run at all these other mile-and-a-halves at this point. They’re trying to keep that all the same everywhere, so it gripped it up and actually made it a little bit easier for the first handful of laps, but it was also like 40 degrees at that test so as far as fall off goes and those things, I don’t think we have a good handle on what exactly that’s gonna look like showing up.”

DID YOU TRY TO GET AN XFINITY RIDE FOR THE MEXICO CITY RACE? “No, I did not. I haven’t been in an Xfinity car in a really long time. There have certainly been a lot of weeks where I would have loved to done it. Mexico would be one of those, but it’s just not been as easy for us in recent years without having our own Xfinity team underneath the roof here. It’s just been a little bit more of a challenge to just jump into something. Not many other teams have something just sitting there waiting or some kind of opportunity like that, so I would have if the right circumstances were there, but, ultimately, they’re not at this moment.”

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE OF BEING GOOD AT MICHIGAN YEAR AFTER YEAR AT A TRACK WHERE YOU’RE THERE ONLY ONCE A YEAR? “We were very good last year, so all things considered, even with our damage there at the end, we had a good race car. I think that turn three ultimately is the bigger challenge at that speedway. It’s just flatter. In turn one you have so much banking that it’s a lot easier to keep power down. Obviously, it’s a track position sensitive race and it’s just not widened out very much. I kind of poke fun at it and laugh about this a little bit, but however that surface has not aged, it doesn’t seem like one bit over the course of what has it been – over a decade since it was re-done. I don’t know how they did it because the roads out front are certainly a whole lot rougher than that. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it’s just stayed very similar year over year, so you’re able to really fine-tune little detail stuff to continue to get better. I think the field is closing in because we’re getting to a point where you do have some wide open there and ultimately you’re kind of getting the terminal velocity and everyone is trying to get to that same one, so it’s gonna get tighter yet but I do believe we’re gonna be very strong showing back up.”

LOGISTICALLY, IS MEXICO GOING TO BE A DIFFERENT WEEKEND FOR YOU AS FAR AS HOW IT LAYS OUT AND UNFOLDS? “Yeah, certainly on that side of things we’ve had a lot of meetings and got one more just to try and finalize how this is all gonna look. You’re pretty much going to be on a schedule to be able to get transportation to and from the facility. You’re on more of a tighter window. As drivers, we’ve gotten spoiled a little bit too much and get to kind of come and go as we please. If it gets within an hour or hour-and-a-half of practice you show up, but I think this is gonna be different. You’re just gonna try and maximize your time spent at the facility, if not on track studying what is on track and if not with your group trying to figure out what it is you need to be good there, or to be better if we’ve been on track yet. It’s definitely gonna be a different race weekend from all of those standpoints. I’m not one of the few drivers that have been down there to race in year’s past. I’ve heard stories from people on how it goes and the logistics of it and I’m getting ready to find out first hand.”

HOW ARE YOU APPROACHING YOUR POSITION IN THE POINT STANDINGS? YOU’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE. “I think that, for us, we’ve been able to recognize that it’s always a must-win situation. From the beginning of the year, you have to win races. There’s been a couple of times where we’ve been right there in a good spot or been right there in that window and just get a surprise winner or two to close the regular season, or we got caught up in an accident in Darlington the other year and you can’t depend on points to get you in the playoffs when it’s as tight as it is every week. For us, I think that’s been our mindset, which means that ultimately wherever we bounce around that line we’ll be aware of it, but it’s a matter of figuring out how to go win races and we haven’t done that yet. We’ve not been quite good enough and we’re working on trying to clean up some of the detail work and study a little harder and be better from my end behind the wheel and make it to where we basically lock ourselves in on that side of it and don’t have to have any of that thought in the back of our heads. But I certainly don’t want it to be what we’re sitting here thinking of how can we get two points here, three points there and try and just feel like we can skate our way in. It doesn’t work. Ultimately, you can’t count on that when it comes down to the end.”

THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT TRACKS COMING UP. DOES THAT CREATE MORE OF AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GUYS OUTSIDE THE BUBBLE TO WIN? “Not really. I haven’t put much thought into what it’s gonna do for others, I guess. We’re in this stretch of races where we’ve won at a few of these things. We’ve run really strong at a lot of others. We’re gonna get in the summer where it’s gonna get hot and we’re gonna start catching a few drivers off guard here or there. Ultimately, there’s a lot of good racetracks coming up for some good racing for us, selfishly at RFK and probably some good ones for some other teams as well. We’ll see where it all plays out, but I guess, for us, I don’t think we have any racetracks on the schedule that we don’t feel good about. One, it’s fun to have that mindset and not have to head into a race weekend just hoping to get through it, and that comes from fast race cars. It comes from everybody here working hard and putting me in a better spot, but I’m sure there’s a lot of teams that have some of these tracks circled and it’s on us to go ruin their weekend.”

WHAT IS CLICKING THIS SEASON THAT FANS MAY NOT SEE BEHIND THE SCENES? “We’re kind of running all into them now. We had a slow start to the season when it comes to mile-and-a-halves. You really only have Vegas and then Homestead just being so worn out is kind of its own animal. It’s a mile-and-a-half, but it’s very different. So we got done with Vegas and we didn’t really see another one for a while, so we’ve had a handful in the past and some coming ahead. Ultimately, we took a big step at the mile-and-a-half stuff this year and I’m really proud of our team for that because it was one of the things where we got to the end of last season and started seeing a little bit of improvement, but we certainly needed more and they took that challenge personally and we’ve showed up at the racetrack and been able to be fast off the truck and qualify really well and have that track position and have those good pit stall selections – all these things that make a race-winning weekend, we’re getting a lot of the pieces right. Like I said a little earlier, it’s some of the detail work now but it’s fast race cars. I’ve talked to some friends in this world and this industry that have gone from cars that were on the lower end side of things and more budget-oriented and have been able to get into the best of the best race cars and ask, ‘Man, does it just drive perfect?’ And the answer is no. It still has all the same problems. It’s still loose here. It’s still tight here. It just does it faster and that’s kind of what we’ve gotten to, where we still fight our balance issues, we’re just doing it at a better pace. So, I don’t have an answer for you as to what this thing is that’s all of a sudden clicked, but a lot of detail work from everybody here at RFK that’s gone into putting fast Mustangs on the racetrack and that’s just made me look good. It’s time to put it all together to put some trophies up on the shelf, but we’re sneaking up on it for sure.”

THE IN-SEASON TOURNAMENT FIELD WAS DECIDED AFTER NASHVILLE. WILL THAT AFFECT THE WAY DRIVERS AND TEAMS PREPARE KNOWING PLAYOFF SPOTS ARE ON THE LINE? THERE IS A MILLION DOLLARS ON THE LINE, SO HOW WILL TEAMS BALANCE THAT? “I don’t think it’s gonna change much at all. I should start with the fact that I’m not very knowledgeable on many other sports to the point where I don’t quite understand how all of the brackets and seedings work anyway, but, aside from that, ultimately it’s a lot on the line. There’s a million dollars at the end of it. I’m sure teams have taken note of it, but our season is way bigger, and I don’t know how many weeks it goes, but our season is way bigger than that and it’s not something that you’re willing to do anything whatsoever that will come at a detriment to racing for a championship, which means making the playoffs first. No, I don’t see that being something that’s going to affect anything leading into a race weekend. Maybe there’s a moment during a race where you can take a chance if you’re in that scenario racing one other car, where it’s one on one basically through the bracket. If there’s a moment you can make something happen and it doesn’t come at the expense of a penalty or at least a large penalty in any other way, maybe but I highly doubt you’ll see anything change because of that. I think it’s just something for our fans to dive off into and keep them excited, and it’s something to push against and let them have some fun with it.”

ARE YOU ABLE TO TAKE ANYTHING FROM YOUR SUCCESS AT MICHIGAN AND DAYTONA THAT HELPS YOU? “It’s gonna lean more to the intermediate side. You will have drafting to some extent, but I promise you when you get down in that corner you want every bit of clean air you can find. There’s nothing to gain an advantage of by staying in line in the corner, which is what superspeedway racing is – staying in line at any point. Even Atlanta, with handling issues you’re gonna try and stay in line, so that being said, that definitely put it more in the category of our mile-and-a-halves just with the significantly off throttle time.”

HOW MUCH OF A SAY DO YOU HAVE WITH IN-RACE STRATEGY? “When you talk about the strategy side of things, I’m not gonna make strategy calls. I have moments where I have a second guess of something in an immediate small window of time, but I can’t see the full picture and I’m fully aware of that so I’m not going to be the one to try and change up a call or try and add my two cents in on that side of things. I can say, ‘Hey, I think we can hang on with two tires. I think that will be fine. I think our car is good enough to do that.’ Or, if we feel like we can run the outside and make up some spots on a restart from a choose, I can say that, but, no, on the strategy gaming side of it, that’s something we talk about ahead of time and Scott relays options during the race and where his thoughts are at and I just give my two cents, but I am not going to be the driver that’s making any sort of those calls from the seat just because I am fully aware that I’m not working with a full board at that moment.”

TEAM CHEVY NASCAR RACE ADVANCE: Michigan International Speedway

TEAM CHEVY ADVANCE
Michigan International Speedway
June 7-8, 2025

With the second-half of the regular season well underway, the NASCAR Cup and Craftsman Truck Series will head to the Irish Hills to face one of the most challenging intermediate ovals on the circuit – Michigan International Speedway.

The two-mile track nestled just outside the home of General Motors’ headquarters will play host to a pair of NASCAR’s national touring series this weekend, with the doubleheader event kicking off with the return of the Truck Series for the first time since 2020 in Saturday’s DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 Powered By Precision Vehicle Logistics at Michigan. On Sunday, Team Chevy’s drivers and teams will be vying to reclaim the prestigious Michigan Heritage Trophy in the FireKeepers Casino 400.

Chevrolet at Michigan International Speedway:

One of the most special venues on the circuit for the sport’s manufacturers, Michigan International Speedway has had an integral part in NASCAR history – hosting the Cup Series 107 times over the past 56 years. Chevrolet has made 26 trips to victory lane in NASCAR’s top division at the venue, with the most recent coming in Aug. 2017 with Kyle Larson – a triumph that concluded a three-peat at the track for the Team Chevy driver. The 32-year-old Elk Grove, California, native is one of just six past active Michigan winners that will be competing in Sunday’s event, with fellow Chevrolet driver, Kyle Busch, also earning a spot on that list with a victory in Aug. 2011. One year ago, the Bowtie brigade fell just one spot short of its return to victory lane at the track with a runner-up finish by the series’ current points leader, William Byron. Backed by an already stellar season and two runner-up finishes in the last four Michigan races, the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team will be ones to watch in the fight for the Michigan Heritage Trophy.

Heritage Trophy History

Since the 2013 season, drivers and teams in the NASCAR Cup Series have had an additional incentive on the line when they get to Michigan International Speedway – the Michigan Heritage Trophy. With the track lying in the backyard of the “automotive capital of the world”, Michigan International Speedway introduced the Michigan Heritage Trophy as a way to recognize and honor the winning manufacturer of each Cup Series race. Chevrolet has earned the honors six times, with the first three coming in consecutive events courtesy of victories by Jimmie Johnson (June 2014), Jeff Gordon (Aug. 2014) and Kurt Busch (June 2015). The 2021 champion, Kyle Larson, brought the trophy back to Detroit for yet another three-straight races – a string that began with his first career Cup Series win in Aug. 2016.

Hocevar Homecoming

After a battle for the lead ended in heartbreak at the Coca-Cola 600, Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar put on yet another statement performance at Nashville Superspeedway to prove he’s just on the brink of his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory. With a runner-up finish – his second of the season – Hocevar made a strong push up the playoff standings, with the 22-year-old Portage, Michigan, native heading to his home track just four-points outside the playoff picture. The valiant effort came after a dismal qualifying effort that put the young Team Chevy driver in the 26th starting position. But with guidance from veteran crew chief, Luke Lambert, Hocevar was able to collect crucial points in Stage Two and put the team in contention when it mattered the most. The Michigan native has just one Cup Series start at his home track – coming one year ago that ended with a 10th-place finish.

Playoff Picture

As we inch closer to the 10-race playoff stretch, the NASCAR Cup Series has seen now nine different winners that have earned an early berth into the title chase. Among that group includes three drivers from the Chevrolet camp, led by Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson with three wins. Accompanying him is teammate, William Byron, who was the first driver to punch his ticket into the 2025 playoffs with his win in the DAYTONA 500. The 27-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina, native has yet to fall out of the top-two positions in the points standings this season, ultimately regaining the lead after his near dominate performance at his home track two weeks ago. Most recently, it was Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain that earned his name a spot in the championship hunt with his first career crown jewel win in the Coca-Cola 600.

Among the seven remaining positions in the playoff field includes Chase Elliott, who sits in the top provisional points position with a monster 153-point cushion over the cutline. Consistency has paid dividends for the 2020 champion, with Elliott being the only driver to earn top-20 finishes in all 14 points-paying races this season. While a disappointing Nashville showing made a slash in his points cushion, Alex Bowman and the No. 48 Chevrolet team still find themselves ranked 14th in the playoff standings and 45-points above the cutline. Rounding out the top-16 includes Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch, who turned an uphill battle into a 25-point day and a 12th place finish to put the No. 8 Chevrolet team back into the playoff picture. Busch is on the horizon of a track that could be a big opportunity to continue to make the jump up the rankings. The 40-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada, native is one of just six active past Michigan winners, while most recently posting a fourth-place result at the track one year ago in his Richard Childress Racing-prepared Chevrolet.

Truck Series Set for Michigan Return

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will conclude a six-race stretch with its much anticipated return to Michigan International Speedway this weekend. Taking its turn to pair up with NASCAR’s top division for the sport’s annual trip to the Irish Hills, Saturday’s 250-mile race will mark the series’ first appearance at the two-mile venue since the 2020 season. Heading into the weekend, Chevrolet is not only the series’ most recent winners on the season, but also the series’ most recent winners at the track. In Aug. 2020, Zane Smith drove a GMS Racing Silverado RST to the checkered flag to deliver Chevrolet its sixth all-time Truck Series win at Michigan International Speedway.

Caruth Carrying Momentum

Holding off a hard-charging Corey Heim, Spire Motorsports’ Rajah Caruth took his first checkered flag of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season at Nashville Superspeedway. The win took the 22-year-old Atlanta, Georgia, native from outside the playoff picture to a guaranteed spot in the series’ championship title chase. Caruth is the fifth different driver to earn a postseason position by virtue of a win, joining fellow Chevrolet drivers and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing teammates Daniel Hemric and Tyler Ankrum. With just six races remaining in the series’ regular season, the Bowtie brigade accounts for half of the top-10 points positions, with the season’s winners joined by CR7 Motorsports’ Grant Enfinger in fifth and Niece Motorsports’ Kaden Honeycutt in seventh.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

Ross Chastain, No. 1 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Do you look forward to racing at Michigan?

“Michigan is a high speed track and it’s fun to race. I enjoy Michigan so much that I’m driving in the Truck race on Saturday, too. I’ve had a great and busy last couple of weeks with the Coca-Cola 600 win and then we went straight into Nashville, which is always a busy week on and off the track. It will feel good to get to Michigan and back into more of a regular routine.”

Austin Dillon, No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

Michigan International Speedway is a fast, 2.0-mile track. What is it about the track that you like?

“Michigan International Speedway is a big, fast, two-mile oval, the fastest track on the NASCAR schedule. Drafting plays a big role. You’re always trying to make moves and get big runs when you can. Michigan is one of those places where you definitely feel the speed as soon as you get there. Getting to the pit road can be tricky because you’re coming in so fast, and it’s key to entering and exiting without any penalties. Michigan provides long green flag runs, and it’s hard to make up a lap there.”

What makes racing at Michigan International Speedway especially important for you and your team?

“When we race at Michigan International Speedway, you always want to perform well for your manufacturer. That’s a big race for all the OEMs, and we want to put Chevy out front at all costs. Michigan is also home to Dow Mobility Science, making it even more meaningful. We want to put on a great race and create a great experience for everyone at Dow who comes out to see the No. 3 Dow Chevrolet on track.”

Kyle Larson, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

“I always love going to Michigan. It’s the track I got my first NASCAR Cup Series win at. I’ve had quite a bit of success there and I think it’s a track that Hendrick Motorsports is usually strong at. With it being in Chevrolet’s backyard, we all want to be the one to get them that win. Hopefully we can this weekend.”

Justin Haley, No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

What’s your outlook heading into Michigan this weekend?

“I’m hopeful heading to Michigan this weekend. Personally, it is not top of the list of my favorite tracks, but it’s a good track if you have a fast race car. Generally speaking, we have fast race cars at these style tracks. Hopefully, we can turn that speed into a good result in our Garner Trucking Chevrolet.”

Kyle Busch, No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet

How big of a factor is the draft at Michigan International Speedway?

“Over the last couple of years with this new Next Gen car, the draft at Michigan International Speedway has become less effective in my opinion. These cars don’t quite suck up on the straightaways the way the old cars could.”

Is it refreshing to race at a place like Michigan International Speedway where you can move around the track and find a line that works?

“Michigan over the years has been pretty lane dominant, but with the addition of the traction compound through the corners, it has led itself to widening out and allowing you to try different grooves. It still isn’t as wide as it once was. Back in 2013 you could race along the wall, but it’s getting better and going in that direction.”

Looking back at this race last year, what do you remember about that fourth-place finish?

“I wish I came off pit road with about an eight-second lead. That might’ve helped a little bit. Overall, just net positive on the weekend being upfront and having a shot at the win. We ran in the top 10 all day. It was a really good call by Randall Burnett and the guys to take two tires, get us more track position and just try to hold the leaders off as best we could. Overall, it was a good day for our RCR team.”

Chase Elliott, No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

“It’s always good to go to Michigan and have a good run. It’s certainly changed a lot over the years, just with how the cars have changed. But the race track itself is the most consistent place I’ve ever seen for a racetrack that has those hard winters. It just doesn’t seem to get old, which is kind of crazy. I enjoy going out there. If you’ve never been to Michigan in the summer, it’s actually really nice. I highly recommend it. I always enjoy going up there in the summer months. Certainly, a great place to have a good run for General Motors and everybody involved there. They do a lot for us.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet

“Michigan is just a super-fast racetrack, and I’ve enjoyed running it the last couple years in the Cup car. Last year we had good speed, and I feel like our big track program is probably where we excel right now at Kaulig Racing. I’m excited to get to Michigan and see what we have and knowing it’s a place we can go and have a good run. It’s a tough racetrack just in the sense of a lot of on throttle time and track position is always critical. Hopefully we can unload pretty close, which I think we’ve done a pretty good job at most racetracks and have good qualifying effort and a really good run.”

William Byron, No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

“We were so close to getting it done last year, and a few years before that as well. I’m really confident in what our No. 24 team has been doing this year and how we’ve been executing. If we show up with the speed we’ve been having, I feel like we’ll definitely be in the mix Sunday and that’s what we hope for. I think this is a race that we can really show what we’re made of.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 47 Hyak Motorsports Chevrolet

“We didn’t get the result we were after in Nashville, and that’s frustrating for sure. But this team’s got heart. We’ve put in the work this week, and we’re heading to Michigan with a clean state and a fast Real American Beer Chevy.”

Alex Bowman, No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

“Michigan is one of those places where raw speed really matters, and I feel like our No. 48 Ally Chevy has been trending in the right direction on these big, fast tracks. It’s a home race for a lot of our partners, so there’s a little extra motivation to go out there, execute, and put on a show. I’m looking forward to getting on track and hopefully giving them something to cheer about on Sunday.”

Michael McDowell, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

What are your thoughts as we head to Michigan?

“Michigan is a fun track. With the speed we’ve had this year at Spire Motorsports, our mile-and-a-half program and big-track program have been great. I feel like the Hendrick engine shop is a big part of that, too. Every year, when we think about Michigan, this is usually where you see how everybody is performance-wise. I think Michigan and Indianapolis are those places with big downforce, big horsepower. Being efficient in both those areas is important at both those places. Everything stands out. Everything is magnified at Michigan, and right now, with the speed that we have, I think it’ll be a great track for us to go do something special.”

Carson Hocevar, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet

How do you carry that momentum over to a bigger, faster track and balance the environment of being at your home track?

“I’m really excited to get to Michigan and have a chance to improve on our race from last year. I’ve been saying for a few weeks that we’ve improved so much and, thankfully, we finally put a race together where that shows. There are definitely some lessons and things that we learn each week that will only continue to make us better down the line, but I think we have a good chance to keep things going to get another top five or top 10 this weekend.

There is for sure a balance that has to happen in terms of showing appreciation to fans and friends who come to the track and staying aware of the job that we’re there to do. I work on that every weekend just as much as I work on my race craft. It’s an ever-evolving process and we have a solid group that holds me accountable to make sure I’m giving my attention to all of those different areas.”

How much does it benefit you to race in events outside of the Cup Series?

“I feel like it helps a lot. Not so much in terms of things specific to the car and what we can do, but just having that time on track to be in race mode. I love racing and I’m happiest when I’m getting to do that, but I think it does help that I can be in that racing mindset more often and earlier in the weekend. I also really enjoy getting to be around fans. It makes me a better driver to hear what they love about our sport and know that we’re making a difference.”

Shane van Gisbergen, No. 88 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

Your performance on ovals has improved in recent weeks. How mentally challenging this learning process been for you since you’ve had so much success in your racing career?

“It’s been challenging. I’ve never ran 30th or been at the back of the pack before. It’s been a huge mindset shift. Justin (Marks) has been great with his support, and he knows the results are going to come on road courses, but I need to keep improving on the ovals. I feel like better finishes are certainly coming. The last couple of weeks we have been improving and last weekend at Nashville we qualified our best on an oval by far.”

This weekend will be your first Cup start at Michigan. What are your thoughts about this track?

“I feel we have some good momentum building with our oval racing, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish. Michigan looks like a crazy, fast track in the Cup with always a lot of action. Can’t wait to get there!”

Daniel Suarez, No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet

What are your thoughts on Michigan Speedway?

“I like Michigan. It’s a very fast track and I feel like we have had great cars there lately. We have big expectations on Sunday. We have top-10 finishes the last two seasons and expect to be good this weekend.”

Next week you leave for Mexico City. You must be excited to race in your home country.

“I know. I can’t wait. This is a dream come true. We have a lot to do down there, and we’re going early. It’s going to be a great moment for NASCAR as well as the Mexican race fans. I really think everyone will be shocked, and what a good reception we get in Mexico. It’s going to be an awesome weekend.

I’m super excited about it. When we get to that week, it’s just another weekend, right? But in reality, it’s going to be tough to handle all the people pulling me in different directions. It’s going to be a lot of fun. I feel very, very grateful and thankful to be in this position and to be living the NASCAR dream in this era. I was talking to some friends and just a few years ago going to Mexico probably wouldn’t be an option so I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”

Team Stats & Notes

  • Niece Motorsports Michigan Stats: Niece drivers have made a total of eight NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) starts at Michigan International Speedway. In 2019, the organization started on pole at this track with Ross Chastain. That same year, Bayley Currey earned the team’s best finish of sixth.
  • Entitlement Sponsor Race: This race weekend has been highly anticipated for the Niece Motorsports team as primary partners, DQS Solutions & Staffing and Precision Vehicle Logistics, are the presenting sponsors for the NCTS return to Michigan International Speedway.
  • Power of Collaboration: All of the team’s primary partners, including DQS Solutions & Staffing, J.F. Electric, Precision Vehicle Logistics, and Utilitra, will co-brand the team’s three entries this weekend. To learn more about the business-to-business relationships that have been formed through the race team, please visit this link.

No. 42 J.F. Electric Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett

  • Mills’ Michigan Stats: Matt Mills has competed in one NCTS race at Michigan which came back in 2018. Mills qualified fourth for that race, which was ultimately cut short due to a crash, resulting in a 31st-place finish. The driver went on to make four NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) starts at the 2.0-mile track, posting a best result of 14th in 2021.
  • Shiplett’s Michigan Stats: Mike Shiplett will call his first NCTS race at Michigan on Saturday. In seven NXS starts here, Shiplett earned one top-five finish – a third-place effort with Kyle Larson in 2015. Shiplett also directed 11 Cup Series races at the track, finishing as high as 11th in 2010.
  • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from a collaboration among the team’s primary partners: J.F. Electric, DQS Solutions & Staffing, Precision Vehicle Logistics, and Utilitra.
  • Recapping Nashville: Matt Mills and the No. 42 team fought hard in Nashville, but struggled to gain track position in dirty air. Mills started 11th and maintained inside the top-15 through the opening part of the race, but began to fade in stage two. Stuck in traffic, the team made adjustments throughout the race to help the balance, and assisted Mills to pick up some spots late to finish 22nd.
  • Points Rundown: Mills lost one spot in the championship points standings following his 22nd-place finish in Nashville. Now scored 17th, Mills is only one point behind Jack Wood in 16th and is 13 points ahead of Andres Perez De Lara in 18th. He is currently 125 points behind the Playoffs cutline.
  • Quoting Mills: You grew up just a state away from this track, so what will it be like to have a bunch of your supporters in the grandstands this week?

“It’s going to be really cool to come back and race at Michigan. I know we will have a lot of sponsors and family friends that I raced with or supported me throughout my career that are going to be here on Saturday. The track is about four hours away from where I called home, so to be that close just adds more motivation to run well.

I’ve always thought Michigan is a great track for us with the raw speed of it, so going back there in a truck will be great. I’ve only been there once in a truck and had a good time. It was a different kind of race craft, so I imagine it’ll be about the same when we go back this time. We just have to play our cards right; I know we’ll bring a fast truck and it’s going to be a special weekend for Niece Motorsports as a whole.”

No. 44 Niece Equipment Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Ross Chastain | Crew Chief: Wally Rogers

  • Chastain’s Michigan Stats: Ross Chastain has competed in two NCTS races at Michigan. His best series finish came in 2012 when he finished 18th, but he notably won a pole at the speedway in 2019. Chastain has made seven NXS starts here, finishing as high as seventh in 2023. Through seven Cup Series races, his best finish is seventh, also coming in 2023.
  • Rogers’ Michigan Stats: Wally Rogers has called four NCTS races at Michigan. Rogers’ best series finish came in 2004, when Matt Crafton finished in 12th-place. In six NXS starts at the 2.0-mile track, Rogers’ best run was an 11th-place effort with Tony Stewart in 2006. He has also competed in four Cup Series races here, finishing as high as 21st with Elliott Sadler in 2010.
  • On the Truck: Chastain’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from a collaboration among the team’s primary partners: J.F. Electric, DQS Solutions & Staffing, Precision Vehicle Logistics, and Utilitra. The hood will feature Niece Equipment.
  • Recapping Nashville: Bayley Currey and the No. 44 team showcased raw pace throughout the night in Nashville en route to another solid finish. Currey started sixth in the 150-lap event and maintained track position in both of the opening two stages. By finishing ninth in stage one and seventh in stage two, Currey picked up a total of six stage points. As the checkered flag flew, Currey secured his third top-10 finish of the year in ninth-place.
  • Owner Points Rundown: The No. 44 team remains 16th in the owner points standings after Nashville, but gained ground on a few teams. Heading into Michigan, the entry is only five points behind ThorSport Racing’s No. 99 truck in 15th and is 27 points ahead of TRICON Garage’s No. 15 truck in 17th.
  • Quoting Chastain: It’s been a while since the trucks raced here, so what does it feel like coming back?

“Yeah, it’s been a few years for us, but I’m so glad we’re coming back. We were so fast the last time we came here and felt like we had a chance to win that race. Over the years, the surface at Michigan has aged a little bit, but what you need to be fast is still the same – it’s all about top speed. It’s just such a fast track that’s fun for us to race on. The draft really plays a big factor in these trucks especially, so I think that should help put on an exciting race. It’s a big weekend for us here at Niece Motorsports with our partners involved in putting the race on, and we’re bringing the same truck that ran well at Charlotte, so I’m really looking forward to Saturday.”

No. 45 DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Kaden Honeycutt | Crew Chief: Phil Gould

  • Honeycutt’s Michigan Stats: Kaden Honeycutt will make his first start at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.
  • Gould’s Michigan Stats: Phil Gould has called two NCTS races at Michigan. Gould’s team won the pole at this track with Ross Chastain in 2019, and his best series finish of 15th came the following year. His NXS track record is impressive, producing three top-fives (best of fourth in 2018 with Ryan Reed) and five top-10 finishes in six starts.
  • Gould’s Milestone Race: Saturday’s DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 Powered by Precision Vehicle Logistics will mark Phil Gould’s 150th-career NCTS race on top of the pit box. As the winningest crew chief for Niece Motorsports, Gould has led his team to eight race wins. His trucks have finished inside the top-10 in nearly 50% of his starts – which all were made at Niece.
  • On the Truck: Honeycutt’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from a collaboration among the team’s primary partners: J.F. Electric, DQS Solutions & Staffing, Precision Vehicle Logistics, and Utilitra.
  • Recapping Nashville: Kaden Honeycutt and the No. 45 team had a great points night in Nashville. With qualifying cancelled due to rain, Honeycutt started on the front row in second place. The team took full advantage of the track position and stayed near the front of the pack all race long. Honeycutt earned 10 extra points by finishing fifth in both stages. At the end of the night, the No. 45 came home in sixth-place, marking their eighth top-10 of the year.
  • Points Rundown: Honeycutt’s sixth-place finish in Nashville kept him sitting seventh in the championship points standings. The driver of the No. 45 is now 17 points behind Layne Riggs in sixth, and 19 points ahead of Jake Garcia in eighth. Since there was a new race winner, his gap over the Playoffs cutline shrunk to 22 points over Ty Majeski, who holds down the final spot.
  • Quoting Honeycutt: This is a big race with your primary partners sponsoring the race itself, so how much added effort are you putting into it?

“For me, my preparation is the same every race since we try to go out there and win each week. So we all work hard here, knowing that we have the tools we need to make it happen. I feel like we should have a good shot at it. The Truck Series hasn’t been there in about five years, and I’ve never even turned a lap on this place before, so that will be an interesting challenge in practice to venture out and see what I’ve got to do to be fast.

But yeah, it’s a very important race for us, and hopefully we can win, because it would be huge. Obviously, it would be big for the company as a whole, but to lock ourselves into the Playoffs and have all of our partners be there with us to get into victory lane at their race would be really special.”
