Sam Mayer suspended from Xfinity finale following post-race run-in at Martinsville

Sam Mayer will not be competing in the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, November 1.

The news comes as Mayer was issued a one-race suspension from NASCAR following his post-race actions during last weekend’s event at Martinsville Speedway. After taking the checkered flag in seventh place, Mayer spun and sent sixth-place finisher Jeb Burton into the outside wall in Turn 1. The post-race incident damaged both vehicles and occurred after both Mayer and Burton had multiple run-ins earlier during the Martinsville event.

Per the NASCAR penalty report that was released on Tuesday, October 28, NASCAR deemed that Mayer violated Section 4.4.B of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct from the NASCAR Rule Book. Amid the incident, Mayer was one of four competitors who fell short in qualifying for this year’s Championship 4 round, with Mayer missing the cutline by eight points.

Following the news of Mayer’s suspension, Haas Factory Team took to social media with the following statement:

“Although we are disappointed with the results, Haas Factory Team will not appeal the penalty NASCAR issued to Sam Mayer and the No. 41 team following last weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway. We remain focused on finishing the season out strong at Phoenix Raceway and look forward to contending for a race win with Ryan Sieg at the wheel.”

As mentioned in the statement above, Ryan Sieg will pilot Mayer’s No. 41 Audibel/Haas Factory Team Ford Mustang entry to cap off the 2025 Xfinity season. Sieg, who drives the No. 39 Ford Mustang entry for RSS Racing, is currently ranked in 15th place in the driver’s standings. With the upcoming Xfinity finale at Phoenix scheduled to mark his milestone 400th career start, he will also attempt to contend for his first series victory.

While there were no additional penalties issued towards any competitors and teams within the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series divisions, there was one team penalized within the Cup Series division. That team was the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse entry team piloted by Cody Ware.

During the Cup Series event at Martinsville that occurred this past Sunday, October 26, the right-rear wheel from Ware’s entry detached as the driver spun through Turns 3 and 4. The detached wheel violated Section 8.8.10.4.A&C of the NASCAR Rule Book that highlights the loss or separation of an improperly installed tire and wheel from a racing vehicle during an event. As a result, jackman De’Quan Hampton and rear-tire changer Marquill Osborne will not be participating in the next two NASCAR Cup Series events. Their suspensions will span through the 2026 Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium in early February.

In addition, per the penalty report, Shane Gray has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR activities due to violating Section 4.4.B of the NASCAR Rule Book that highlights the Member Code of Conduct.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck, Xfinity and Cup Series teams and competitors will return to action this upcoming weekend at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, to cap off the 2025 season. The Truck Series’ Championship Race will occur on Friday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1, NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM. The Xfinity Series’ Championship Race will follow suit on Saturday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. ET on the CW Network, MRN and SiriusXM.

The Cup Series’ Championship Race caps off the weekend on Sunday, November 2, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN, SiriusXM and HBO MAX

Tiger Predicts William Byron will win the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship

Right or wrong, a rip-ROAR-ing weekend awaits racing fans at Phoenix Raceway, Friday through Sunday.

PHOENIX (Oct. 28, 2025) – Raja, a 7-year-old Sumatran tiger, is wild about William Byron’s NASCAR Cup Series championship chances.

During a ceremony on Tuesday at the Phoenix Zoo, the beloved beast predicted that the driver of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet will win the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.

Byron is competing against Chase Briscoe, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series title during Sunday’s championship race. The first of those four drivers to cross the finish line Sunday will be crowned the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Champion and hoist aloft the highly-coveted Bill France Cup.

Let the record reflect that Raja is far from purr-fect. He also predicted William Byron would win the championship in 2024, but Byron finished third behind champion Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney.

Regardless of his accuracy, Raja is one of the Phoenix Zoo’s most adorable animals. He weighs approximately 300 lbs. Fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers are estimated to remain in the wild. These magnificent, elusive creatures are listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to poaching, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict.

We’re certain the staff at Phoenix Zoo will provide Raja with NASCAR updates from Phoenix Raceway this weekend, along with some more succulent chunks of meat. Action begins Friday with the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race and builds on Saturday with the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race and the ARCA Menards Series West’s Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100.

And then on Sunday, Nov. 2, it’s the grand finale to the 2025 NASCAR season – the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. Country superstar Jordan Davis will fire up the crowd with a high-energy pre-race concert before the green flag drops on what promises to be a NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race for the ages.

With star-studded performances, non-stop racing action, and championship glory on the line, it’s no surprise only a scant number of tickets remain for NASCAR’s season finale. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets now before it’s too late at www.phoenixraceway.com.

ERIK JONES QUOTE
“I’m looking forward to Phoenix. It’s the last race of the year, so I’m hoping we can finish on a high note. It’s been a tough couple of weeks for us as we just got into some bad situations. Hopefully, we have another good racecar. I feel like Martinsville was a step up in our short track program as far as what we had for balance and pace. I think we can carry some things into this race that we learned there to have a solid day. I’m excited to get there and finish out the year strong.”

BEN BESHORE QUOTE
“We qualified really well at Phoenix in the Spring but just didn’t have quite what we needed in the race. Fortunately, it’s a full practice event this weekend so we’ll get to try a couple of different set up strategies and see if we can hit on something that can give Erik what he’s looking for in the race. We’re hoping to carry over that speed that we had in qualifying there and then set up the car for the race.”

CLUB APPEARANCES:
On Sunday, Nov. 2, Nemechek will be at the Toyota Gazoo Racing Experience in the Fan Zone for a Q&A session at 9:40 a.m. local time, followed by autograph signing at the NASCAR Classics Hauler at 10 a.m. local time.

Stefan Parsons Quotes
What are your thoughts heading into Phoenix, in equipment you have yet to drive?
“This is the kind of opportunity myself and all those around me have been working on for a long time. I’m really excited to work with (Brian) Pattie and the whole No. 7 team. It is a little bit of a homecoming. I have been a part of Spire for several years from the agency side, then I spotted for the No. 7 Cup car last year. I couldn’t be more excited to get on track Thursday afternoon.”

What about Phoenix makes it a fun place to race?
“Phoenix is a lot of fun. It is a place that if you have a good package, you can really stand out and run your race. Obviously with the Championship 4, the race lends itself to chaos. If you can put yourself in position to be up front at the end, there’s no telling what can happen, especially if you get some late-race cautions. The restarts with the runoff through the dogleg make things extremely interesting.”

Atop the No. 7 Box – Crew Chief Brian Pattie

  • Brian Pattie stands atop of the No. 7 pit box, an entry that has seen an abundance of all-star caliber drivers behind the wheel throughout the 2025 season.
  • Last week at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, the No. 7 team and driver Brenden “Butterbean” Queen started 13th and rebounded from fender damage sustained in Stage 1 to finish 10th.
  • Pattie has called two CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Phoenix, claiming an eighth-place finish in last year’s season finale.
  • The 50-year-old has been atop the box for 28 NASCAR Cup Series events at the “Diamond in the Desert,” collecting two top fives and five top 10s, highlighted by a fourth-place finish with Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., in March 2017.
  • The Zephyrhills, Fla., native knows his way to Phoenix Raceway Victory Lane, after calling Jamie McMurray’s 2004 NASCAR Xfinity Series win. McMurray led 47 laps, including the final 13, and held off a young Kyle Busch, the day’s dominant driver, in a green-white-checkered finish.
  • Through 24 races, the No. 7 crew has tallied two wins, eight top fives and 12 top 10s.
  • In May, the team and driver Carson Hocevar claimed victory in the Heart of Health Care 200 at Kansas Speedway. Hocevar led 75 of the event’s 134 laps and survived last-lap contact en route to his fifth CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory and first aboard a Spire Motorsports- prepared Chevy Silverado.
  • The No. 7 team defended its 2024 victory in the Fr8 208 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February with Kyle Busch behind the wheel. Busch spent all 135 laps in the top 15 while leading a race-high 80 laps and recording a field-leading average running position (3.2) and driver rating (124.6).
  • The 24-year industry veteran spent 14 seasons in NASCAR’s premier division. As a crew chief, he’s amassed six wins in Cup Series competition, 11 in the Xfinity Series and seven in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. He stands as one of 11 crew chiefs to win races across all three of NASCAR’s national touring series.

Rajah Caruth – Driver, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

  • Rajah Caruth will handle the driving chores for Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 HENDRICKCARS.COM Chevrolet Silverado in Friday’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway.
  • Caruth secured his second CRAFTSMAN Truck Series playoff berth by claiming victory at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway in May, and advanced to the Round of 8 for the second-consecutive season. Unfortunately, after entering the final race in the Round of 8 at Martinsville Speedway with a 14-point advantage over the Championship 4 cutline, a mid-race incident left the 23-year-old with a flat left-rear, forcing significant contact with the Turn 1 wall. The damage was deemed too severe to continue, and the No. 71 team was eliminated from Championship 4 contention.
  • The 23-year-old has made three CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Phoenix, highlighted by a 12th-place finish in the 2023 season finale. He also owns one ARCA Menards Series start and two NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the famed one-mile oval.
  • Through 24 races, the Washington, D.C., native has registered one win, four top fives and 12 top 10s. He has led 199 laps, nearly quadrupling his 57 career laps led entering the 2025 season.
  • In the No. 71 team’s first playoff appearance in 2024, Caruth and Co. advanced to the Round of 8, but mechanical issues stalled their Championship 4 hopes in the season’s penultimate event at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
  • With his first career CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last season, Caruth became the third African-American driver to win a NASCAR National Touring Series race, joining 2015 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Wendell Scott and current Cup Series star Bubba Wallace.
  • HENDRICKCARS.COM is the online home for everything Hendrick Automotive Group. Visitors can shop more than 30,000 new or pre-owned vehicles, locate centers for service and collision repair, receive a value to sell or trade their car, chat online with customer service, discover career opportunities, learn more about vehicle protection programs, and explore how the company gives back to the community.
  • The blue and white HENDRICKCARS.COM colors will wrap Spire Manufacturing chassis SMT-087. Kyle Larson drove the truck to Victory Lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway in March and a runner-up finish at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway two races later. Most recently, Caruth registered a 10th-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with the same truck, punching his ticket to the Round of 8 of the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series playoffs.

Rajah Caruth Quotes
Heading into Phoenix, you obviously are not in the position you were hoping for. How do you look on from the tough scenario and finish the season strong?
“Martinsville is obviously still a tough pill to swallow. It is going to sting for awhile, especially not being able to partake in the Championship 4 festivities and have to take off the red playoff indicators on the splitter, spoiler and windshield banner. However, we can still fight for a win and fifth-place in points, which is definitely a great thing to earn for our team. I am excited for another opportunity. Our preparation for Phoenix has put us in a spot where I think we can be competitive and race up front all night.”

Talk about your time at Spire Motorsports.
“I learned a lot. From what it takes on a personal commitment level. At this stage in my career, I learned what it really means to grind, listen to those around you, and work towards building something over time. I have lived through Spire’s core value of respect, and I truly think it is applicable to anywhere I will go or anything I do in life. Above all, above the wins and everything I’ve learned and accomplished, I think the intangibles and all the memories with the people I’ve worked alongside is what will live with me the most. Thank you to Jeff (Dickerson) and everyone at Spire that has helped me along the way, and who knows, maybe I will be back in the building some day.”

Atop the No. 71 Box – Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion

  • Veteran crew chief Kevin “Bono” Manion has called eight CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Phoenix Raceway, logging one win and four top fives.
  • In the penultimate race of the 2016 CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season, Manion helped newly named Spire Motorsports driver Daniel Suarez to his first lone CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory. Suarez led 34 laps and inherited the lead when William Byron’s engine expired. He led the final 12 laps and fended off series-mainstay Johnny Sauter en route to the win. One week later, Suarez clinched the Xfinity Series championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
  • The Boylston, Mass., native owns one top five and three top 10s in three Xfinity Series events at the venue, and one top five and five top 10s in 21 races in Cup Series competition.
  • The 53-year-old, a 31-year veteran of the sport, founded Spire Motorsports’ CRAFTSMAN Truck Series program alongside industry veteran Mike Greci in 2022. The team claimed victory in its second outing with driver William Byron at Martinsville Speedway.
  • “Bono” has racked up six Cup Series victories – including the 2010 Daytona 500 – 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series triumphs and 12 CRAFTSMAN Truck series wins. Manion is also one of 11 crew chiefs to have called wins across all three of NASCAR’s national touring series.
  • In 2023, Manion became one of few crew chiefs to call a race in all three of NASCAR’s national series in a single season, all of which came under the Spire Motorsports banner. He led the part-time effort on the No. 7 Silverado in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, helped in limited starts for Carson Hocevar in the Xfinity Series and took the reigns during the second half of the Cup Series season for Ty Dillon and the No. 77 team.

Corey LaJoie – Driver, No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

  • Corey LaJoie will race Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 Gainbridge Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway.
  • Last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, LaJoie registered a fifth-place showing after battling water temperature issues early. The Concord, N.C., native rallied from outside the top 20 to secure his third top-five finish of the 2025 campaign.
  • In September’s visit to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, another flat one-mile oval, LaJoie started eighth and maintained top-10 speed throughout the day to earn his fourth top-10 finish in just five starts with Spire Motorsports.
  • The 34-year-old has made seven CRAFTSMAN Truck Series appearances in 2025, collecting three top fives and six top 10s.
  • The former Spire Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series driver has made 15 appearances in the premier stock car series at Phoenix Raceway. His best outing came in the 2022 season finale, recording an 18th-place finish in the No. 7 Chevrolet.

In the chassis’ maiden voyage at Kansas Speedway this May, William Byron scored a runner-up finish. Overall, the truck has averaged a finishing position of 5.0.

Corey LaJoie Quote
What are your thoughts heading into Phoenix?
“I’m looking forward to closing out the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season at Phoenix. It’s a tricky place because you’re a little underpowered and track position means everything. The surface gets slick, and pit road can be just as challenging with how smooth the concrete is, so you’ve got to be disciplined all night. Hopefully, we can cap off the year strong with our No. 77 team and finish on a high note.”

Atop the No. 77 Box – Crew Chief Chad Walter

  • Crew chief Chad Walter has called four CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races at Phoenix Raceway, earning a venue-best eighth-place finish with Tyler Ankrum at GMS Racing in 2020.
  • Walter has seen his share of success atop the box at the “Diamond in the Desert” in Xfinity Series competition. He led Sam Hornish, Jr., to a victory at the one-mile oval in November 2011. He returned to the venue four months later to call Brad Keselowski’s runner-up finish in March 2012.
  • Between NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, the Cornell University graduate has racked up six wins, 54 top fives and 137 top 10s.
  • In his last seven CRAFTSMAN Truck Series appearances with LaJoie, the No. 77 crew has tallied two top five and five top 10s.

The team’s most recent CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win came on May 30, 2025, when Rajah Caruth took the checkered flag in the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Ford Racing NASCAR – 2025 Championship Weekend Advance

PHOENIX CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND

Friday, October 31 – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, November 1 – NASCAR Xfinity Series, 7:30 p.m. ET (CW)
Sunday, November 2 – NASCAR Cup Series, 3 p.m. ET (NBC)

Ford Racing will be going for its fourth straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver’s championship this weekend at Phoenix Raceway with ThorSport Racing’s Ty Majeski. The Wisconsin native can become the first driver to repeat as series champion since Matt Crafton did it in 2013-14. While Majeski is focused on the driver’s title, Layne Riggs will be looking to deliver the owner’s championship to Bob Jenkins of Front Row Motorsports.

BLANEY HOPING TO START NEW STREAK

Sunday will mark Ryan Blaney’s 20th career NASCAR Cup Series start at Phoenix Raceway and he’s looking to start a new streak after his stretch of seven straight top-five finishes came to an end in the spring. In that event earlier this year, Blaney dropped out after completing 289-of-312 laps with a mechanical failure and finished 28th. Overall, Blaney has nine top-five and 13 top-10 finishes in Phoenix, which includes four runner-up results.

LOGANO GOING FOR REPEAT RACE WIN

Joey Logano has made 33 starts in his NASCAR Cup Series career at Phoenix Raceway and more than half of them have ended with the Team Penske driver in the top 10. Logano has four victories (2016-2, 2020-1, 2022-2, 2024-2), nine top-five and 17 top-10 finishes. Those four wins are tied with Las Vegas Motor Speedway for most victories at one track after he won this event last year and claimed his third championship.

FORD SWEEPS PHOENIX LAST YEAR

Ford claimed two championships a year ago with Joey Logano (Cup) and Ty Majeski (NCTS), but won all three races for the first time since 2001 when Greg Biffle (NXS and NCTS) and Jeff Burton (Cup) combined for the weekend sweep. Majeski got the weekend off on a good note by dominating the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship race, leading 132-of-150 laps. Riley Herbst kept it going the following day by passing Justin Allgaier on the final lap of double-overtime to claim his second career victory while Logano capped it all off by winning the Cup race and capturing his third career title.

CHECKERED FLAG OR BUST

Phoenix Raceway offers one final chance to reach Victory Lane in the 2025 season and any one of the drivers in Ford’s lineup could make that happen. Veteran Ryan Sieg has made 24 career starts on the one-mile flat track and while he hasn’t won, he’s coming off a fourth-place finish in the spring. Sheldon Creed had a streak of five straight top-10 finishes snapped in the spring when he got caught up in an accident while Haas Factory Team teammate Sam Mayer finished seventh. Last week’s pole-winner, Harrison Burton, has three top-10 efforts in five career series starts to go with the six Cup races he ran during his three-year stint with the Wood Brothers.

FORD GOING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT SERIES TITLE

Ford is going for its fourth straight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship and Ty Majeski is going for his second in a row this weekend at Phoenix Raceway. Zane Smith (2022) started this streak and gave Front Row Motorsports its first championship in any NASCAR series while Ben Rhodes (2023) added another title to ThorSport’s trophy case the following year. Majeski, who made the Championship 4 for the third time in the last four years after his seventh-place finish last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, is trying to become the first driver to repeat since Matt Crafton in 2013-14.

TY MAJESKI AT PHOENIX RACEWAY

As noted earlier, Ty Majeski dominated last year’s championship race leading 132 laps, but winning that race marked his first top-10 finish at Phoenix Raceway in four starts. He’s always qualified well, starting fifth, eighth, second and first, but has a finishing average of 11.5. Majeski is still looking for his first victory of the season, which would increase his streak of posting at least one win to four straight years.

RIGGS DRIVING TO DELIVER OWNER’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Even though Layne Riggs was eliminated from the Championship 4 on a tiebreaker last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, he and his No. 34 Front Row Motorsports F-150 team are still competing for the owner’s championship on Friday night at Phoenix Raceway. Owner Bob Jenkins, who scored his first championship three years ago with Zane Smith, is in the midst of a record season that has seen his organization win five times between Riggs (three wins) and Chandler Smith (two).

How to Keep Your Hair Looking Good When You’re Cruising with the Windows Down

Let’s just say it: there’s nothing like rolling down your car windows on a breezy afternoon and letting the wind turn your playlist and mood up a notch. But, yeah—if you’ve ever done this, you probably know what happens next. The windblast transforms your hair into some wild, tangled mess. I’ve pulled into parking lots looking less “carefree road trip” and more “just met a tornado.” Still, driving with the windows down is one of life’s little joys, so it’s totally worth a few (okay, sometimes a dozen) extra hair fixes.

Before You Hit the Road: Quick Prep Tips

First things first, think ahead if you know you’ll have the breeze in your hair. Toss a detangler or a leave-in conditioner through your hair before heading out—just a bit, nothing greasy. It smooths and protects, which means less breakage and those crazy wind knots that seem to appear out of nowhere.

And if you can swing it, start with a style that’s built to handle some chaos. Loose braid, low ponytail, or a messy bun—these all keep hair contained and still look intentional by the time you reach wherever you’re going. Scrunchies work way better than those tight hair ties that always leave a dent. If you’re driving for a while or you’ve got long hair, tucking it into your shirt’s collar might sound silly, but it works like a charm. Supporting your hair from the inside with biotin can also help maintain strength and shine.

During the Drive: Tricks That Save You Time (and Tears Later)

Alright, so you’re on the road and feeling the fresh air—a little too fresh for your hair, maybe. If you’re not bothered by hat hair, consider tossing on a soft cap or a fun bandana. It’s a two-second fix, but it spares you a lot of brushing later. I keep a light scarf in my glove box just in case. This is especially good if you’re getting on the highway, but even on back roads, the wind can be brutal.

If you’re riding shotgun (or backseat), you’ve got even more freedom: you can keep your hair protected under a hoodie or even just tie it up with whatever’s handy. Don’t be scared of the “messy, on purpose” look—it’s actually a vibe right now.

Kenna Kennor’s Advice: Effortless Hair Even on Windy Days

Celebrity hairstylist Kenna Kennor, who’s seen everything from backstage frizz to shoot-day flyaways, is a huge advocate for prepping hair, not just fixing it after things go sideways. He suggests smoothing on a nourishing serum or a dab of lightweight oil before you head out for a top-down spin. According to Kenna, this helps the hair cuticle lay flat, fighting off frizz from friction and static—yes, that electric look happens when wind meets dry hair. He also says not to fight what the wind gives you: play up natural texture with sea salt spray or just let those waves do their thing. Once you arrive, just finger-comb through, add a spritz if it helps, and head on in.

A Few Fast Fixes: Fighting the Tangle Monster

Keep a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush in your bag or glove box. Seriously, this is non-negotiable if you’re a regular window-down driver. A little leave-in conditioner can save the day, especially if your hair feels like it’s been in a blender. If you’ve got time, tilt your head forward and gently comb through from the tips up—no yanking. A touch of lightweight oil can smooth down the wildness and tame static, too.

And for those with color-treated hair, wind plus sun can turn your shade brassy or faded way faster. Try a UV protectant spray. There are options made specifically for hair, and they work better than you’d think.

Let the Wind Work (Sort of) For You

At the end of the day, a little wildness is just part of the open-window experience. If your hair refuses to cooperate, lean in—maybe flop it into an updo and call it effortless chic, or snap a windswept selfie so you remember you lived in the moment. After all, hair grows back, but good times behind the wheel? You don’t want to miss those for anything.

Team Stats & Notes

  • Niece Motorsports Phoenix Stats: Niece drivers have made a total of 23 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) starts at Phoenix Raceway. The team has recorded four top-10 finishes over the years, including a best overall result of seventh-place which was delivered by Kaden Honeycutt last year.

No. 41 McLaren Transport Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Tyler Reif | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett

  • Welcome to the Big Leagues: Henderson, Nevada’s Tyler Reif will make his NASCAR national series debut this weekend at Phoenix Raceway. The 19-year-old competed full-time in the ARCA Menards Series East tour this year and finished second in the championship points standings. Reif grew up racing on the short tracks of the west coast, and is a multi-time winner in ARCA, Late Models, and U.S. Legends Cars competition.
  • Reif’s Phoenix Stats: Tyler Reif has competed in three ARCA Menards Series races at Phoenix Raceway. In 2023, he won in his series debut at the track when he was just 16 years of age. Reif has also ran three standalone ARCA Menards Series West races here, securing one top-five and two top-10s.
  • Shiplett’s Phoenix Stats: Mike Shiplett has called one NCTS race at Phoenix, resulting in a 25th-place finish last year with Matt Mills. Shiplett has made 13 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) starts on top of the pit box here, including three top-fives and six top-10 finishes. The crew chief has earned two poles at this track; first in 2010 with AJ Allmendinger in the Cup Series, and then in 2018 with John Hunter Nemechek in NXS competition. In 11 Cup starts, Shiplett earned two top-10 finishes here.
  • On the Truck: Reif’s No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from McLaren Transport, a division of DQS Solutions & Staffing. This race will mark their first foray into primary sponsorship in NASCAR.
  • Recapping Martinsville: Conner Jones and the No. 41 team had a great run going in Martinsville, but did not get the finish they deserved. After qualifying 25th, Jones methodically advanced his position throughout the opening two stages. A great strategy call in stage two earned Jones two additional points and set him up to use fresh tires at the end of the race. Unfortunately, contact from another competitor sent him spinning late in the event and he was only able to recover to a 22nd-place finish.
  • Quoting Reif: You’ve won at Phoenix before, so what is so special about this place to you?

“I think I run well at Phoenix because it’s similar to a lot of the tracks on the west coast that I grew up racing on. It’s a bigger track than all of those ones, but it races like a short track with the only difference being dirty air. I like how there are two different corners and the dog leg here because you have to be aggressive on restarts. It just fits my driving style. I’m super excited to make my Truck Series debut this weekend with everyone at Niece Motorsports and McLaren Transport behind me, it’s going to be so much fun.”

About McLaren Transport: McLaren Transport, a division of DQS Solutions & Staffing, is a leader in automotive logistics, specializing in reliable, safe, and efficient transportation across the U.S. and Canada. No. 42 J.F. Electric Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Landon Polinski

  • Mills’ Phoenix Stats: Matt Mills has competed in two NCTS races at Phoenix, finishing 21st in 2016 and 25th in last year’s race. Mills made his NXS debut at this track back in 2017, and went on to make a total of seven series starts here. His best NXS finish was a 19th-place effort in 2019.
  • Polinski’s Phoenix Stats: Landon Polinski will make his first NCTS start as a crew chief at Phoenix Raceway on Friday.
  • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric, who will be featured as a co-branded primary sponsor along with DQS Solutions & Staffing and Precision Vehicle Logistics.
  • Recapping Martinsville: Matt Mills and the No. 42 team fought overheating issues early at Martinsville. Before the team was able to diagnose the issue, Mills’ engine shut off which dropped him a handful of laps down. The J.F. Electric crew was able to hook the cooldown unit onto the truck which kept him in the race, multiple laps down. Mills came home 27th with an otherwise clean truck.
  • Points Rundown: Mills currently holds onto 18th-place in the championship points standings heading into the final race of the season. The driver is 14 markers behind Dawson Sutton in 17th-place, and 14 points ahead of Jack Wood in 19th-place.
  • Quoting Mills: How would you assess your second season racing for Niece Motorsports in the Truck Series?

“We’ve definitely been better in certain areas compared to last year, namely by taking care of our inventory. I feel like our speed has been there at certain tracks, but we’ve had a lot of moving parts as far as our particular race team this year. We have had some good moments and improved in places, but still definitely have room to improve more going into next year.”

No. 44 Telcel Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Andrés Pérez de Lara | Crew Chief: Wally Rogers

  • Pérez de Lara’s Phoenix Stats: Andrés Pérez de Lara has made one NCTS start at Phoenix Raceway, finishing 31st after a crash. Pérez de Lara ran two ARCA Menards Series races here, finishing fourth and eighth, respectively. He has also finished third in an ARCA West race.
  • Rogers’ Phoenix Stats: Wally Rogers has called nine NCTS races at Phoenix Raceway, including a runner-up finish in 2005 and two top-fives in total. In nine NXS starts here, Rogers amassed one top-five and four top-10s. He has also called nine Cup Series races at the 1.0-mile track.
  • On the Truck: Pérez de Lara’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Telcel, a Mexican telecommunications giant, along with associate partners, Claro and Infinitum.
  • Recapping Martinsville: Andrés Pérez de Lara and the No. 44 team were taken out in an early incident at Martinsville. The rookie made a great qualifying lap inside the top-10, and had high hopes for the 200-lap event. On lap seven, contact from other competitors forced Pérez de Lara into the outside wall and created heavy damage. The Telcel crew made several pit stops to repair the damage and kept him in the race, multiple laps down. They crossed the line in 28th.
  • Points Rundown: Pérez de Lara remains 16th in the points standings for his maiden NCTS season heading into the series finale. The rookie is only five points behind Matt Crafton in 15th-place, and has a 21-point lead over Dawson Sutton in 17th-place.
  • Quoting Pérez de Lara: What all have you learned in your first season of racing in the Truck Series?

“Oh, so many things. I think it was definitely a big step to race in the Truck Series after spending two years in ARCA, and it took time for me to adapt to such a competitive series. But, I feel really good where we are at right now. I feel confident heading into Phoenix, and more than anything, I’m looking forward to getting some good stuff going for next year. I will have much more confidence in the team and I returning to these racetracks for a second time which can hopefully lead to better results for us.”

  • Currey’s Phoenix Stats: Bayley Currey has competed in three NCTS races at Phoenix Raceway, picking up a top-10 finish in 2017. Last year, Currey finished 21st in the season finale. Through nine NXS starts at the track, Currey’s best finish of seventh-place came in 2021. He also made a Cup Series start here in 2019, finishing 31st.
  • Gould’s Phoenix Stats: Phil Gould has called six NCTS races at Phoenix, capturing a total of four top-10 finishes including a best result of seventh last year. In 11 NXS starts here, Gould’s drivers picked up four top-10 finishes.
  • On the Truck: Currey’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from DQS Solutions & Staffing, who will be featured as a co-branded primary sponsor along with J.F. Electric and Precision Vehicle Logistics.
  • Recapping Martinsville: Bayley Currey and the No. 45 team had an eventful night in Martinsville. After starting 20th, the team took advantage of track position and kept it throughout the opening stages. By using strategy calls, Currey moved into the top-five on older tires. Unfortunately, on a late-race restart, the driver was forced into the outside wall via contact from another competitor which resulted in a cut tire. Currey finished the race in the 21st position.
  • Points Rundown: Following the penultimate race of the year in Martinsville, the No. 45 team remains 13th in the owner points standings. Entering Phoenix, the team is 21 points behind Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 team in 12th, and 46 points ahead of ThorSport Racing’s No. 99 entry. Currey remains 22nd overall in driver points ahead of the season finale.
  • Quoting Currey: What are your takeaways from running part-time with the Nos. 44 and 45 teams this year?

“I feel very fortunate to have run as many races as I have this year. Going into the year, I didn’t think I would have this many on my schedule, so I’m very thankful for those opportunities. We have had good speed everywhere, and even though some things have gone wrong, I feel like we’ve been in contention to win a couple of times. With all of that said, I’ve been pretty happy with our year. There are definitely some races that I’d like to have back and see what could go differently if our luck changed a little bit. All-in-all, it’s been a pretty good year and I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone at Niece Motorsports.”

Continuity highlights 2026 driver roster

Cadillac Formula 1 Team test driver Herta joins lineup for IMSA endurance races

DETROIT (October 28, 2025) — Continuity and experience highlight Cadillac Racing’s driver roster for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Cadillac Racing enters its fourth year of Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) competition with its three-car lineup campaigned by Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express Racing, which earned victories in the final two races of the 2025 IMSA season.

Eight drivers return to challenge for 2026 championships in addition to Cadillac Formula 1Ⓡ Team test driver Colton Herta rejoining Wayne Taylor Racing for three endurance races.

Drivers who will contest the IMSA GTP schedule in Cadillac V-Series.Rs powered by the purpose-built Cadillac 5.5L DOHC V8 engine:

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing (No. 10)

  • Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque (season)
  • Will Stevens (Daytona, Sebring, Road Atlanta)

Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing (No. 40)

  • Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz (season)
  • Colton Herta (Daytona, Sebring, Road Atlanta)

Cadillac Whelen (No. 31)

  • Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber (season)
  • Frederik Vesti (endurance races, Long Beach)

Herta, 25, who will join the Cadillac Formula 1 Team as a test driver and FIA Formula 2 competitor with Hitech Racing in 2026, contested three IMSA endurance races in 2024 with Wayne Taylor Racing, co-driving with Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz to the overall victory in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and earning a GTP class podium in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Herta also won the GTLM class in 2019 and LMP2 class in 2022 in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway.

The No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing lineup of Ricky Taylor and Albuquerque earned podiums at Detroit, Watkins Glen and Indianapolis, while No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing drivers Jordan Taylor and Deletraz were runners-up at Watkins Glen in the team’s first season with Cadillac Racing in GTP.

Aitken returns for his fourth season in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, which recorded two victories and led the most laps across the nine GTP races this past season. Aitken and Action Express Racing finished second in the GTP Drivers and Team Championships. Aitken, Bamber, Vesti and the team placed second in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup GTP standings.

Bamber and Stevens will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season finale November 8 at the Bahrain International Circuit. Stevens co-drove to Cadillac Racing’s maiden WEC victory in July at Interlagos and Bamber and Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA teammates were runners-up in the six-hour event. The Nos. 12 and 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.Rs have qualified 1-2 in three of the past four races, and Cadillac is mathematically in contention for the Manufacturers Championship.

The nine-race 2026 IMSA season begins January 16-18 with the annual Roar Before the 24, followed the next weekend by the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona at Daytona International Speedway – one of five endurance races on the schedule. An expanded Cadillac Racing roster for the Rolex 24 will be announced in the future.

Cadillac has earned four Manufacturer Championships, five IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturer Championships and 33 victories since entering IMSA prototype competition in 2017.

The Cadillac V-Series.R marks the third generation Cadillac prototype racecar and first with an electric motor component. The car – co-developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing and chassis constructor Dallara – incorporates key Cadillac V-Series production car design elements, such as vertical lighting and floating blades.

What they’re saying

Wayne Taylor, owner, Wayne Taylor Racing: “I’m excited to get going for next year. It will be our second year with the Cadillac V-Series.R and we have learned so much this year. Having the same drivers for the full season and Will Stevens in the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing for the IMEC rounds brings great continuity to our program. We are delighted that Colton Herta can join Jordan and Louis in the No. 40 Cadillac WTR V-Series.R for the endurance events. The trio has been a great match and had great success working together in 2024. Our team has so much positivity going into 2026 and we are all looking forward to the November test in Daytona.”

Gary Nelson, general manager, Action Express Racing: “We are thrilled to have our drivers, Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Fredrick Vesti, returning for 2026. Over the past couple years, we have enjoyed watching them drive at a very high level in every race. Unfortunately, many times, in early events of 2025 we did not get the results they deserved. We saw all along how well Jack, Earl and Fred were working together and how fast they were. We just seemed to not get the trophies they deserved. That all changed for the final two events, Indy and Atlanta. Everything came together and we brought home the trophies. With our team ending 2025 with wins at the final two events, in 2026 we expect to pick up where we left off.”

No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R

Ricky Taylor: “We love consistency, but I think what is great about our current lineup is that it just continues to build the experience of the teams with the crossover between JOTA and AXR. We all have unique experiences, and we don’t get so much track time, so any experience from any of us is valuable. We were approaching every weekend this year with a blank notebook regarding the car aside from what we had been told by our Cadillac teammates. So next year it will be great to go into each race with some solid first-hand notes to build on. We tend to learn so much in the races that it will be great to take that into the next season.”

Filipe Albuquerque: “During this year we adapted and brought ideas that made us faster, some of them were possible during 2025 and some were not due to technical regulations, but in 2026 it will be possible. Sunday after the Petit race I was talking to Ricky about how excited I was to start work already on 2026. It’s like we never sleep. We had a very challenging year, with a lot of ups and downs. From the racer in me, that is never happy, it was only OK. But if I step back and look at the overall picture, I must say it was a good year. We got three podiums and we came super close to a win at GM’s home race. We have to be humble and realize that these cars are very far from what we have been used to. They are very complex, and it would be a bit arrogant to show up and win on the first year. It will take time to adapt.”

Will Stevens: “Having a year’s experience with the Cadillac V-Series R is a great help to go into 2026 knowing the things we want to work on to start the year off strong. We have great potential with the package we have and it’s great to have the offseason to prepare ourselves for 2026. Going into our second season together with Cadillac has all the ingredients to be a success. Going into each event and different racetracks was a learning experience in 2025 and we now go into a new season together with all those foundations in place to build on all that momentum.”

No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R

Jack Aitken: “It’s a really nice mix of personalities and roles. It’s always important that when you have a lineup of two guys for the sprint and three for the endurance set that everyone has their place. Earl has such a wealth of experience that really goes beyond his seasons and the endurance paddock. You’d think he’d been around for decades with the amount of knowledge that he’s picked up. That’s very valuable to both of us (Aitken and Vesti) as drivers and to the program. And Fred, of course, he is bringing a lot of talent to that endurance role where he’s sort of following the same path that I was in building up an experience in this new discipline of racing for him and helping us to win races. So, it’s been a really good year. It’s fantastic that we’re going to carry on that into next year and the team is comfortable with us. We’re comfortable with them. We all know what we’re doing and how to do it and it’ll be much more about just going out and executing next year, which will be nice.”

Earl Bamber: “What we’ve been building this year, drivers, team, I think is something quite special. Saw the results at Indy and Petit. We absolutely dominated. We dominated Watkins Glen, put ourselves in the position to win it. At Road America as well. So, we’ve been constantly knocking at the door, finding the door open. I think there’s such a big positive vibe in the camp right now and we just got to roll it through Daytona in 2026.”

Frederik Vesti: “I was really excited when I signed a contract last year and I think I didn’t really realize what I was going into, the task ahead, because it is really top level. It’s really not an easy category to be in. It’s drivers who have driven these types of cars for plus 15 years that I’m racing against, which has been truly amazing. I remember my first restart in Daytona thrown straight into the lead in my first ever laps in in a GTP car in a race. Just great memories from that. And then what I really note is the step I’ve made each weekend since Daytona and that I will continue to make into next year. I’m really excited for next year and I’m also really proud and happy of the team that we have with Earl being the experienced, with Jack being the fast and me being the rookie. I definitely have very good teammates that I’m learning from and that’s pretty clear. So, yeah, I’m excited for the future and more IMSA races in the Cadillac.”

No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R

Jordan Taylor: “We learned so much as a team from the start of the season to where we are now, so I think this offseason is going to be very busy for everyone to take that data and information, analyze it, and come back even stronger next year. Almost every track we went to this year was new for us with this car, so having that data to look back on in 2026 will be invaluable. I know we didn’t have the results we wanted in 2025, but I’m confident we’ll be battling for race wins next year. A few podiums between the two cars were great, but we know that we want to be racing for wins every weekend. We were operating very well as a team by the end of the year. We just need to maintain that momentum, bring it into this offseason and hit the ground running in Daytona.”

Louis Deletraz: “I’m really excited to continue with Cadillac Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing for the 2026 season. I have worked with a lot of amazing and talented people this year; it feels like we have learned a lot and now we can use the winter to push the Cadillac V-Series.R to its limit. The goal is to start 2026 strong and fight for victories every weekend. We’re racers and we always want more. This year at Watkins Glen we had a double Cadillac WTR podium and it was an amazing feeling within the team. We want to repeat that, many times. Keeping the same car, same people, same drivers is bringing consistency. I am convinced it will make us stronger after so much learning this year.”

Colton Herta: “Super excited to join Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing for the endurance rounds next year. We had some success last time I was with the team, and I hope to continue that. Jordan and Louis are some of the best drivers in the business, and it’s a pleasure to join them on this adventure. I can’t wait to get behind wheel of the Cadillac’s naturally aspirated engine. Daytona can’t come soon enough.”

Online Casinos Speed into Motorsports Sponsorships

These sponsorships create powerful brand visibility. They merge the excitement of high-stakes gaming with elite racing competition. This synergy captivates audiences globally. It represents a modern marketing evolution.

Key Facts

Why Racing and Casinos Are a Perfect Match

Both industries thrive on adrenaline and risk. A driver pushing for first place mirrors a player chasing a massive jackpot. The high-speed, high-reward nature is a common thread. This emotional connection makes the partnership feel authentic. Fans of fast cars often enjoy fast-paced casino games. The alignment is natural and powerful for brand engagement.

The Marketing Engine Behind the Deals

These sponsorships are not mere logo placements. They are integrated marketing campaigns. Casinos activate these partnerships with exclusive fan experiences. They offer special bonuses for event ticket holders. Live streams from pit lanes feature interactive betting odds. This creates a multi-layered engagement strategy. The Future of High-Octane Sponsorships

The trajectory points toward deeper integration. We will see co-branded virtual racing leagues hosted on casino platforms. Expect more partnerships focused on sustainability, mirroring Formula 1’s 2030 net-zero goal. The regulatory landscape will continue to evolve, shaping future deals. By 2025, we predict at least three new major casino brands will enter the motorsports arena. The race for audience attention is just beginning.

This fusion of digital gaming and professional racing is a strategic masterstroke. It leverages shared audience passions for competition and reward. The partnerships deliver measurable value for both casinos and racing organizations. As the digital and physical worlds collide, these high-speed alliances will only become more sophisticated and immersive.

Betting Odds Flash on Driver Helmet Visors

Imagine real-time odds projected onto racing gear. This technology is already in development. It personalizes the viewing experience for fans. Data streams integrate directly with live broadcasts. Viewers can place instant bets without switching screens. This seamless interaction boosts engagement dramatically. It also opens new revenue streams for teams.

Sponsors gain unprecedented brand exposure through this innovation. Their logos and odds appear during key moments. This targets viewers when their interest peaks. The approach feels organic, not intrusive. It enhances the sport’s technological appeal. Younger audiences especially respond to these integrated digital experiences.

Regulatory approval remains the main hurdle for widespread adoption. However, test runs have shown promising results. Several racing series are exploring pilot programs. The technology could debut within two seasons. Its success will depend on user experience and responsible gambling safeguards. The future of fan interaction is arriving at incredible speed.
