Max McLaughlin Joins Niece Motorsports’ Dirt Late Model Program in Partnership with HWH Performance

World of Outlaws Winner to Chase After Prestigious Events in 2025

Salisbury, NC (Nov. 14, 2024) – Niece Motorsports is bringing its Dirt Super Late Model operation back in full force through a partnership with HWH Performance. The organization has signed Max McLaughlin as its primary driver starting this weekend in the Peach State Classic at Senoia Raceway.

McLaughlin, son of former NASCAR winner, Mike McLaughlin, is a second-generation driver who hails from Mooresville, North Carolina. This year, he competed in his first full-time season in the World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series coinciding with a partial schedule in the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified tour.

Some of McLaughlin’s career highlights include race wins in the World of Outlaws, Super DIRTcar, Super Modifieds, ARCA East, and the North South Shootout. He is a past champion of the DIRTcar Nationals and STSS Super Nationals tours, winning both titles in 2021.

Niece Motorsports has occasionally fielded entries in various Super Late Model races in the past, but next year, the team plans to enter several noteworthy events throughout the country. Rather than committing to one specific tour, the team will opt to chase after some of the most prestigious races on the calendar.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series team will enter its 10th year of competition in 2025, marking a significant milestone year for the company.

Anchor partners Precision Vehicle Logistics and Mohawk Northeast will back McLaughlin’s efforts. Precision Vehicle Logistics has served as primary sponsor in several Truck Series races with the team this season. Mohawk Northeast has shared a relationship with McLaughlin for the majority of his racing career.

“This is something that Cody Efaw and I have been talking about trying to put together for quite some time now,” said McLaughlin. “I think it’s great to see this all come together. We have all the right people and he’s done a great job putting sponsorship together with Precision Vehicle Logistics coming on board to help us. I’m glad that I could continue my relationship with Mohawk also, and we’re really excited to get rolling together. Obviously, the organization here is high class, and we’ve got all the tools to make it a great team.”

HWH Performance, founded by Niece Motorsports CEO, Cody Efaw, will be the team responsible for preparing these efforts. The team will run cars built by Longhorn Chassis, one of the most recognizable names in the dirt world.

“Dirt Late Model racing is something that I’ve always been passionate about since I was a kid going to the track when my father raced,” said Cody Efaw. “We see some of the best talent in the country come from dirt backgrounds, and I think it’s a testament to how tough these cars are to race. We’ve worked with Max before and have been wanting to put together a program like this for a while. It’s going to be fun to take him and run the big events next year with the support of our great partners at Precision and Mohawk.”

The team/driver pairing has a brief history of running together in the past. In 2018, McLaughlin made his NASCAR national series debut driving for Niece Motorsports at Eldora Speedway. In just his first NCTS race, McLaughlin went on to secure a respectable 12th-place finish.

“Al Niece gave me my first opportunity to go NASCAR racing,” continued McLaughlin. “He’s been a big supporter of mine, and so for us to come back together at a much higher number of races is special. We ran well at Eldora and talked about doing more, but I was busy racing on dirt all the time, so now that we can hit a bunch more races next year, I’m ready to go out and compete for wins with this team.”

This weekend, McLaughlin will strap into the No. 4 Precision Vehicle Logistics / Mohawk Northeast car for his first start with the team at Senoia Raceway. Fans can tune-in live on Flo Racing to watch both Friday and Saturday night’s features and cheer on as the team chases after a large pay day in prize money.

INDIANAPOLIS/LONG BEACH, Calif. (Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024) – Penske Entertainment announced today the newest member of its growing event portfolio, confirming the acquisition of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, LLC, from longtime owner Gerald R. Forsythe. The association administers the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, the longest-running major street circuit race in North America. The purchase is expected to provide significant investment for the marquee NTT INDYCAR SERIES race, to further enhance this can’t-miss celebration of speed and Southern California motorsport culture for years to come.

This upcoming year marks the 50th edition of the Grand Prix of Long Beach, with special programming planned to mark the occasion. The race will return to network television, with FOX set to broadcast the event Sunday, April 13.

“We’re incredibly proud to be the new stewards of this cherished and iconic event,” said Roger Penske. “This is the most historic and prestigious street circuit race in North America, and we’re excited to work with Jim Michaelian and his great team in Long Beach to ensure continued success and growth over the long term. This race and its loyal fans matter so much to everyone across the INDYCAR community, and we’re looking forward to a very special 50th anniversary celebration this April, as well.”

“As we prepare to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone, the 50th anniversary of this amazing event, it’s fitting that we have such exciting and important news to share about its future,” said Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach President & CEO Jim Michaelian. “Roger and the team at Penske Entertainment understand the special history and unique qualities that give us such a strong foundation and will be ideal partners as we continue to deliver an exceptional race weekend for our fans moving forward. I also want to acknowledge the significant contribution that the previous owners, Jerry Forsythe and the late Kevin Kalkhoven, made to the success of our event over the past 19 years.”

As an acclaimed and highly attended annual event located in the nation’s entertainment capital, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is a premier race weekend for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Working alongside the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach team, Penske Entertainment plans to invest in bolstering and enhancing the experience for race fans, sponsors and hospitality customers.

YOUNG STANDOUTS IN PRO STOCK READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP MOMENT AT IN-N-OUT BURGER NHRA FINALS

Aaron Stanfield leads Dallas Glenn by 32 points as both aim for first Pro Stock world title in Pomona; Veteran Greg Anderson lurks 56 points back

POMONA, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2024) – There’s a possibility the final run of the 2024 Pro Stock season could determine the world championship at this weekend’s 59th annual In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at legendary In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.

If that’s the case and it’s Aaron Stanfield lined up against Dallas Glenn to close out the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season in Pro Stock, it would also result in one of the young standouts winning their first career world championship.

Both have been knocking on the door the past several years and each is ready for that final breakthrough. They’ve exchanged the points lead three times in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, with Stanfield taking over the lead following his Las Vegas victory. He leads Glenn by 32 points (or just more than one round) in his Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage/Melling Performance/Janac Brothers car, with veteran Greg Anderson 56 points back.

Stanfield, the defending Finals winners, has delivered a spectacular season, winning six times and advancing to 10 final rounds, but he knows the massive challenge that remains. With Pomona being points-and-a-half, Glenn can close to within a round if he gets the gap under 30 points, which would also present the possibility of a winner-take-all final round and the first world champion in the class not named Erica Enders or Anderson since 2018.

“It’s going to come down to the wire and I’ve never been in that position before,” Stanfield said. “But I’m looking forward to it and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. It very well could come down to that last round. That’s what dreams are made of and it’s going to be fun to watch it all play out. It would definitely be a cool story to tell and for the fans to see, and we’ll see how it all plays out.”

The 2023 In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals saw Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Chad Green (Funny Car), Stanfield (Pro Stock), and Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) take home event wins, while Kalitta (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Enders (Pro Stock) and Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all won world titles. The year’s race will again be broadcast on FS1 to close the season in style, including eliminations at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 17. It is the last of 20 races in the 2024 NHRA season and the finale is shaping up to be a memorable one in Pro Stock.

Glenn, the 2021 NHRA Rookie of the Year, has enjoyed his own special season, leading the points for the bulk of the season and picking up five wins in nine trips to the final round. He stumbled in Las Vegas, losing in the first round to open the door for Stanfield to slip past, but Glenn still has plenty of opportunities to make amends in Pomona in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro for KB Titan Racing.

He would love a chance to be part of a winner-take-all final and Glenn insists he’s relaxed heading into Pomona, focused on only what he can control.

“I know what I need to do when I get there,” Glenn said. “Hopefully we can go out and make eight solid runs this weekend. I’ve tried to relax and not overthink things and then just go out there and do the best we can. But our goal is to make eight quality runs and try to win the race. If I go out there and give it everything I’ve got, I can’t complain about whatever happens. I’m just going to try and be as aggressive as I can. Hopefully the luck is on our side and this absolutely could come down to the last run of the year.”

Anderson, the veteran among the championship contenders, will see if he has another trick up his sleeve to pick up what would be a sixth world championship in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro.

The winningest driver in class history has had his opportunities, advancing to the final round at the past two races, but he’s fell in agonizing fashion at both, including to Stanfield in Las Vegas. Anderson knows he has a stellar car, one that has won twice and qualified No. 1 seven times in 2024, and it’s up to him to try and win Pomona and then hope for some help along the way.

“It’s pretty simple for me: I’ve got to win and have some luck on top of that,” Anderson said. “When you go into the Countdown, you tell yourself if you can have a chance in Pomona, that’s all you can ask for. It’s going to be a heck of a race and a weekend. I’ve been racing well, but not winning and I’ve got to turn that around. I’m looking forward to and I’m hoping I’ve saved my very best for the last race of the year. I’ve done this before and know how to do, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

In the Top Fuel ranks, Justin Ashley currently leads the points over former champs Antron Brown and Shawn Langdon by 44 and 45 points, respectively, with Steve Torrence and Doug Kalitta both close behind. Ashley has collected four wins this season, including the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip’s first event of the season.

The Funny Car championship is all but decided, as class newcomer Austin Prock takes a 188-point lead into Pomona. He’ll clinch his first career world title – and the 21st Funny Car title for John Force Racing – when he attempts his first qualifying pass. He’s also after a ninth Funny Car win, thought the likes of Hagan, Ron Capps, Jack Beckman and Bob Tasca III will try to close out 2024 in style.

The Pro Stock Motorcycle division has once again dominated by Herrera, the defending world champion. He heads to Pomona with 10 wins this year and a 123-point advantage over six-time world champion Matt Smith. With a strong qualifying effort, Herrera can claim his second straight world title.

Along with racing in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, fans can also see the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, while the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will hold a special racing exhibition.

TEAM CHEVY LOOKS TO CAPTURE THE 2024 NHRA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WITH JOHN FORCE RACING IN POMONA

Notes:

  • The final event of the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season sees Team Chevy heading west to the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip for the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals Nov. 15-17 in Pomona, Calif.
  • Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car drivers Austin Prock and Jack Beckman of John Force Racing currently sit first and second in the Countdown to the Championship. Prock leads Beckman, who is racing on behalf of team owner and 16-time champion John Force, by 188 points.
  • Racing for his first championship in NHRA, and the eighth Funny Car driver championship for Chevrolet, Prock aims to clinch the championship early in the Pomona weekend. Closing out his first season behind the wheel of a Funny Car after jumping in for teammate Robert Hight, who is sidelined for medical reasons, Prock and his AAA Chevy team have taken the category by storm this year with eight wins, three runner-up finishes, and 14 No. 1 qualifiers this season.
  • Heading to Pomona and looking to cap off the season with a potential ninth win, should Prock and the AAA/Auto Club Chevy team do so in Pomona, they become the second team to cross eight wins since John Force did in 2000 with 11. Five drivers have won eight, including Force in 2000, Tony Pedregon in 2003, Ron Capps in 2017, Robert Hight in 2022, and Prock this season.
  • Beckman, second to Prock in the championship standings on behalf of Force, looks to head to his home track of Pomona to capture a second win in eight events and cap off a successful return to the Funny Car seat after four years.
  • Together, the trio of Funny Car pilots (Prock, Force, and Beckman) at John Force Racing this season have combined for a staggering 11 wins and 15 No. 1 qualifiers. Force holds two wins and one No. 1 qualifier, and Beckman has raced to one win so far racing on behalf of Force in seven events.
  • After capturing her first win since 2022 and aiding John Force Racing in their Las Vegas double-up, Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster, heads to Pomona looking to cap off the season strong. Force currently sits seventh in the standings by 118 points back from first.
  • In a tight Pro Stock championship battle, Aaron Stanfield, Dallas Glenn, and Greg Anderson are separated by just 56 points from first to third, respectively. Stanfield and Glenn are both battling for their first category title, while Anderson aims to capture his sixth as a driver.

Quotes:

AUSTIN PROCK, DRIVER OF THE AAA CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:

On heading to Pomona:

“Excited to get to Pomona. I’ve always loved going to southern (California) as a kid and I still feel that same way when the time of the year comes. Looking to get a win in a Funny Car there. I’ve had a lot of success there in Top Fuel. Maybe that will translate into the Funny Car.”

On the Countdown to the Championship and racing for his first title:

“It’s been an amazing year. This team has done an outstanding job all year long and they deserve this championship. It’s been an honor to drive this Camaro. and proud to deliver a championship to Chevrolet.”

JACK BECKMAN, DRIVER OF THE PEAK ANTIFREEZE AND COOLANT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:

“The last time I participated in the NHRA Finals at Pomona (2020 ran at Vegas), I left with the trophy. Being my final fill-in race for John Force, nothing would make me happier than to put his Peak Camaro in the Winner’s Circle. I want to express my gratitude to John and the Force Family, Robert Hight, the entire Peak crew and JFR staff, and especially to the NHRA fans for making this eight-race stretch so memorable and rewarding.”

BRITTANY FORCE, DRIVER OF THE CHEVROLET TOP FUEL DRAGSTER:

“I can’t believe we are heading into the final NHRA event of 2024 this weekend in Pomona, California! This season has carried us all through its highs and lows. It has taught me that at John force Racing, we are one team, and we truly face adversity together. It also reminded me how sweet victory can be after a long road.

Our Monster Energy Chevrolet team is coming off of a big win in Las Vegas, Nevada. We qualified No. 1 and turned on four lights with my dad there to see it all. Having my dad back made the weekend complete. I felt our teams had more heart chasing down a win with my dad returning to the track. It was also the first time we doubled up with our teammate Austin Prock. Last week’s race will always be a memorable one for JFR.

Winning after two years has put this whole team on such a high. We plan to perform the same way we did in Vegas. We’re looking for four clean runs, qualify top five, and going rounds on race day. We’ve moved up in points to the (seventh) position, and the competition in front of us is stacked tight. If we have another solid weekend we can definitely finish on a high note.”

How to Watch:

The In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals from In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip airs first with qualifying on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Sunday’s eliminations air, also on FS1, following qualifying at 4 p.m. ET. Coverage streams live throughout the weekend on NHRA.tv, and is available via AppleTV, Android TV, and Roku devices.
