Treyten Lapcevich Looking for CARS Tour Season Sweep at North Wilkesboro Season Finale

North Wilkesboro, N.C.: The 2024 zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Tour season finale has arrived at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway with Canadian standout Treyten Lapcevich and his Chad Bryant Racing team looking to end the season on a high note in Saturday night’s ECMD 125.

After a string of strong performances in both the CARS Tour and NASCAR Late Model competition, Lapcevich and his team rode the momentum to last weekend’s CARS Tour 225 pres. by GeoCut at Tri-County (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Unfortunately, the weekend proved to be a race worth forgetting. After an incident in practice, the Chad Bryant Racing team rebuilt the car and eventually brought back speed for the race.

While not a contender for the win, the team stayed a factor inside the top five despite pitting early in the race.

Unfortunately, the team ran out of fuel in the closing laps, derailing the remarkable comeback and leaving the team with a frustrating 12th-place finish at the checkered flag.

“Tri-County was certainly rough for us this past weekend,” said Lapcevich. “I am really proud of the whole team for never giving up. We had an abrupt start with an incident in practice on Friday, which led to repairs taking until 3:30 am the morning of the race on Saturday.

“We really struggled throughout practice with something wrong with the car. We threw a lot at it for qualifying, but it still wasn’t right. Made a pit stop in the race, and the car really started to come to life. We were able to work up from about the 26th position into the top five and in contention for a really strong run.

“Unfortunately, on a restart with three laps to go, we ran out of fuel. It just wasn’t our weekend, but we never stopped pushing and still came out with a 12th-place finish when it was all said and done, which, of

course is disappointing – but better than what it could’ve been.”

Knowing their resilient effort from last weekend, Lapcevich is using the strength of the team’s recovery from a series of setbacks as fuel to make a statement with his second CARS Tour win of the season at the historic North Carolina race track.

“It’s definitely important to have a strong run this weekend at North Wilkesboro leading into the off-season,” added Lapcevich. “It’s always great to end the season on a high note and provide a lot of momentum heading into the following year.”

When it comes to a “drop mic” like performance this weekend – Lapcevich and his Chad Bryant-led team know that returning to the track where the team scored their first CARS Tour win earlier this summer could lead to a substantial end-of-the-season celebration season sweep.

“We were really good at North Wilkesboro back in August, grabbing our first win of the season there, so I’m really excited to get back,” added Lapcevich. “Obviously, the track will be a little bit different with the climate, the aging of the new surface, and the different types of cars that will be there this weekend – but that will produce the same challenge for everyone.

“We will be focused on maximizing our practice time and ensuring our car will have speed for all 125 laps.”

Lapcevich, who controls fifth in the driver championship standings, remained vocal about wanting another checkered flag this season, not just for himself or his race team but also for those behind the scenes and his sponsors Evirum and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, who all assisted in making the 2024 season possible.

“I think it would be huge for us to win again at North Wilkesboro just like we did only a couple of months ago, especially heading into the off-season,” said Lapcevich. “I’d really like to make that happen for my sponsors and team, who have all done an amazing job all season.

“We are certainly going to give it our all and see if we can finish off the CARS Tour season on a high note.”

No matter the results on Saturday night, Lapcevich is more than satisfied with the progression of his season and will utilize the offseason not only to reflect on 2024 but also to use it as motivation to make 2025 an even better year.

“I’m really happy with the progress we made this season,” sounded Lapcevich. “I think at the start of the year, there is no doubt they knew we were there, but now we’re in contention week after week, which says a lot about how far we have come since the start of the year.

“This was a new type of car for myself, and pretty much all tracks we have gone to have been new to me; therefore, there has been a ton of learning.

“If we got to start the season again with the experience I’ve got now, I think we could have an even better year – but that is all part of the learning curve.”

After 16 races, Chad Bryant Racing stands sixth in the championship owner standings, just eight points behind JR Motorsports for fifth and a four-point cushion over Kevin Harvick Inc. for seventh overall.

● Rick Ware has been a motorsports mainstay for more than 40 years. It began at age six when the third-generation racer began his driving career and has since spanned four wheels and two wheels on both asphalt and dirt. Competing in the SCCA Trans Am Series and other road-racing divisions led Ware to NASCAR in the early 1980s, where he finished third in his NASCAR debut – the 1983 Warner W. Hodgdon 300 NASCAR Grand American race at Riverside (Calif.) International Raceway. More than a decade later, injuries would force Ware out of the driver seat and into fulltime team ownership. In 1995, Rick Ware Racing was formed, and with wife Lisa by his side, Ware has since built his eponymous organization into an entity that fields two fulltime entries in the NASCAR Cup Series while simultaneously campaigning successful teams in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, Progressive American Flat Track and FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), where RWR won the 2022 SX2 championship with rider Shane McElrath.

Corey LaJoie, Driver Q&A

When you return to some of these tracks for the second time in the season, do you have a better idea of what to expect?

“I think it depends. We pretty much know what to expect when we go to an intermediate track. The racing is the same and everyone has had all year to work on their package for this race, so now we get to see who has learned the most. If someone has figured out how to gain track position on a restart and not fall off too much over the long run, that’s probably who we’ll see up front at the end.”

At a track like Las Vegas, do you value speed or a good-handling car?

“You definitely need speed. It’s a fast track and you don’t want to be too far behind on that front. But, you need a car that handles really well. The track is rough, it gets dirty and there are a few different lines you can run so it can get busy. I’d say handling. Speed is always important, but Las Vegas is a track where you need your car to be in a good place.”

Cody Ware, Driver Q&A

Las Vegas will mark your first true intermediate track of the season. How are you feeling headed into Sunday’s race?

“Vegas is one of my favorite tracks to go to on the schedule. It’s one of the few 1.5-mile tracks that we go to that I feel has remained mostly unchanged in the last 10 years. After losing Atlanta to superspeedway-style racing, and the overhaul to Texas in turns one and two, I feel like it’s one of the few classic speedways we still race at.”

What makes Las Vegas different from the other so-called cookie-cutter mile-and-half tracks?

“The bumps in turns one and two give it character and make handling and your shock package important. The sand and heat of the desert make it a relatively low-grip track at times, especially in the heat of the day. I’m excited to see if it’s going to be a race of raw speed, or if we’re going to have long green-flag runs where we’ll see a lot of strategy come into play. Either way, I think it’s going to be a good weekend for us at RWR. Our intermediate program has come a long way this year.”

B.R.M Chronographes Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the HSR Classic Daytona 24 Hour

  • Founding Partner of the HSR Classic Daytona 24 Unveils Two Limited-Edition B.R.M. Timepieces to Celebrate 10 Years of the Nation’s Premier 24-Hour Vintage and Historic Sports Car Race on the Road Course at Daytona International Speedway
  • 10th Anniversary HSR Classic Daytona 24 Takes Place at Daytona International Speedway, October 30 – November 3

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (October 17, 2024) – B.R.M. Chronographes, a founding partner of the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Classic Daytona 24 Hour, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the United States’ premier Vintage and Historic sports car race at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) with a limited edition run of two distinct B.R.M. timepieces commemorating the milestone event, October 30 – November 3.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the HSR Classic Daytona 24, B.R.M. Chronographes has developed the pair of unique timepieces for HSR members. Both models have a 24-hour movement, and each can have the crown engraved with the customer’s racing number in the color of their choice.

“B.R.M. and I are thrilled to celebrate this exciting milestone with the creation of two limited edition timepieces, designed to honor 10 incredible years of the HSR Classic Daytona 24 Hour,” said B.R.M. Americas President Frédéric Gasser. “These watches are a tribute to the passion, dedication and spirit of endurance that have defined this iconic event, and we’re excited to share them with the world as part of this special anniversary celebration.”

The B.R.M. Classic Daytona editions are limited to a very exclusive 10 pieces for each model with the number (1/10, 2/10, etc.) engraved on the back of each timepiece. The top-of-the-line model V1244ALCAHSR10 is a Chronograph-automatic featuring an aluminum case, crystal sapphire front and back, carbon fiber dial featuring HSR Classic 24 logo, screw down crown, tachymeter and an Alcantara strap. The retail price is $15,800, plus tax.

The B.R.M. Model V644ALCAHSR10 has the same features as the V1244L in an automatic movement timepiece and retails for $7,950, plus tax.

Immediate orders for either of the Classic 24 B.R.M. timepieces can be placed now at www.hsrrace.com/store.

“B.R.M. Chronographes is one of our valued partners who has been the HSR Classic Daytona 24 Hour since its inaugural running in 2014,” said HSR President Chris Ward. “At that time, B.R.M. was just over a decade old, but the fine watch maker soon joined HSR in a period of significant growth over the last 10 years plus. It is certainly safe to say that the collective emergence of both B.R.M. and HSR since 2014 in part has the Classic Daytona 24 Hour at its foundation, and we are looking forward to an even bigger period of growth and popularity together in the coming decade and beyond.”

A recipient of the French government’s “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) label, B.R.M Chronographes has been fashioning exceptional timepieces of highly mechanical inspiration since 2003. At the helm is founder Bernard Richards, who has been an avid motorsports enthusiast from an early age. After several years working for some of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, an idea came to him one sleepless night that would change his life. From his home in the French Vexin regional natural park, Richards sketched what would become his first timepiece. The debut GP44 model launched the B.R.M. Chronographes adventure, and over 20 years later, some 40,000 automatic timepieces under the B.R.M Chronographes brand are telling time on the wrists of some of the greatest motorsports enthusiasts.

In addition to its HSR Classic 24 support, B.R.M. Chronographes annually presents timepieces to the five Run Group Champions in the B.R.M. Chronographes Endurance Challenge series.

B.R.M. also actively supports the additional “HSR Classics” races at Sebring International Raceway and Watkins Glen International, which will be joined in 2025 with a sister event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Along with the Classic Daytona 24, the Run Group winners in each of those events receive all-new and custom-made Wall Clocks from B.R.M. Chronographes. Displaying the same dial design as B.R.M.’s unique time pieces, the big clocks were a big hit with the winners when presented for the first time this past June at the HSR Classic 6 Hours at The Glen.

The HSR Classic Daytona debuted in 2014 at the “World Center of Racing” and the immediate success of the inaugural event called for a second running in 2015. After a year off, the 24-Hour classic race on the 3.56-mile DIS road course returned in 2017 and is now an annual fixture and blockbuster event on the HSR calendar.

A competitor test day on Wednesday, October 30, kicks off the 2024 10th Anniversary HSR Classic Daytona 24. The full-day test sets the stage for the following four days of official competition that culminates with the classic 24-hour race from Saturday, November 2, at 2 p.m. EDT straight through to the final checkered flag 24 hours later on Sunday, November 3, just before 1 p.m. EST.

The detailed event schedule and more for the 2024 HSR Classic Daytona, and the HSR Daytona Historics event for the season-long HSR series and championships, can be found on the Official Event Page at www.HSRRace.com.

Tohatsu Named as an Anchor Partner for Spencer Boyd in 2025

Boyd will return to FRE in the No. 76 full-time for the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks Season

Mooresville, NC (October 17, 2024) – Spencer Boyd, together with his team Freedom Racing Enterprises (FRE), announced that the award-winning outboard motor company, Tohatsu will return for the 2025 season as an anchor partner for the No. 76 truck. The news comes at the same time Tohatsu is releasing a mini documentary about Boyd in their “Tohatsu Presents” series.

“I am so grateful for the Tohatsu team getting behind us this year,” said Spencer Boyd. “They had never tried motorsports marketing before 2024 so to step up to an anchor partner means a lot for our one-year-old team. They are doing such innovative things with their products and are truly great people to work with. It makes me proud they chose me to help represent their globally trusted brand.”

Boyd started Freedom Racing Enterprises and brought back his iconic number 76 for NASCAR’s 76th season in 2024. He will run the No. 76 in 2025 with Tohatsu as the primary sponsor at multiple races.

Vice President of Tohatsu American Corporation, Kuniharu Maki, commented on the partnership, “We know NASCAR fans enjoy spending time outdoors and particularly in watersports. With how genuine Spencer is, we find his engagement with his fans extremely refreshing, and we share Spencer’s motivation for authenticity. Throughout the 100 years of Tohatsu’s history, we have always aimed to stay connected with our customers. If you call us – a real person answers the phone. We can’t wait to talk to more fans, and I am personally looking forward to getting back to the track!”

Tohatsu America Corporation is headquartered in Coppell, Texas. One of their primary races will be in their backyard at Texas Motor Speedway when NASCAR heads to Texas on May 2, 2025.

Earlier this year, Tohatsu and Ilmor, the supplier of the NT1 engine for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, unveiled a first of its kind electric motor, the ALARIS MEP6.0 to much fanfare. The ALARIS line allows boaters a quiet and efficient way to glide on the water to their favorite fishing hole or water playground.

“These motors are the real deal,” continued Boyd. “We’ve got a BFT200D on the bass boat and there’s never a worry about it starting or running rough. I wish I had the same reliability in actually catching fish!”

The ‘Tohatsu Presents’ Series mini documentary that features Boyd will be released in conjunction with this announcement. The film crew followed Spencer around for a full week earlier this year centered around the Coca Cola 600 weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is a rare behind-the-scenes look at the daily life of a NASCAR driver, team owner, and outdoorsman that has made his entire life about the pursuit of making it to NASCAR all the while enjoying life outside of racing. Visit Tohatsu’s social media pages to see the whole story.

In addition to this big news, Spencer recently announced that Tohatsu would also be the primary sponsor of a team of Texans he has assembled to fish the annual Sharkathon Tournament on the Padre Island National Seashore October 25-27, 2024.

About Tohatsu

NASCAR Car Safety Features vs. Regular Car Safety Features

Safety is paramount in automotive design, particularly in high-risk environments like motorsports. NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) represents the pinnacle of auto racing in the United States, where speeds exceed 200 mph, and the potential for accidents is high. This unique environment necessitates advanced safety features that are often more rigorous than those found in regular passenger vehicles.

NASCAR Car Safety Features

NASCAR cars are engineered with a focus on driver protection. One of the most crucial components is the roll cage, a reinforced structure that protects the driver in the event of a rollover or high-speed crash. This cage is complemented by strategically placed crumple zones that absorb energy during impacts, minimizing the forces transmitted to the driver.

Another vital aspect is the driver restraint system. NASCAR vehicles utilize five-point harnesses that secure drivers more effectively than standard seatbelts. Additionally, the HANS device (Head and Neck Support) is mandatory for all drivers, preventing severe head and neck injuries during collisions.

Fire safety is a significant concern in NASCAR. Drivers wear fire-resistant suits and helmets, and cars are equipped with onboard fire suppression systems that activate in the event of a fire, providing an additional layer of protection.

Impact absorption is further enhanced through energy-absorbing barriers designed to minimize crash forces. The seat design in NASCAR vehicles also incorporates extensive padding and is bolted directly to the chassis, reducing the risk of injury during a crash.

NASCAR is also a testing ground for safety innovations. The sport employs advanced data acquisition systems to analyze crashes and improve safety features continually. This iterative approach helps to implement new technologies that enhance driver safety.

Regular Car Safety Features

In contrast, regular passenger vehicles are designed for a different set of challenges. They feature structural integrity through crumple zones and safety cells, which are engineered to protect occupants during collisions. Most vehicles are equipped with airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags, which deploy during an accident to cushion passengers and prevent car accident lawsuits

Restraint systems in regular cars primarily consist of three-point seatbelts, which are standard across most vehicles. Advanced airbag systems have evolved to include features such as adaptive airbags, which adjust deployment based on the severity of a crash.

Electronic safety aids have become a hallmark of modern passenger vehicles. Features like anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) help prevent accidents by enhancing vehicle control. Additionally, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane departure warnings and automatic emergency braking, provide an extra layer of safety by helping drivers avoid potential collisions.

Child safety is also a priority in regular cars, with features like child safety seats and the LATCH system, which secures these seats more effectively to ensure the safety of younger passengers. The importance of safety is underscored by organizations such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which conduct crash tests and provide ratings based on real-world data.

Key Differences Between NASCAR and Regular Cars

The differences between NASCAR and regular cars are striking. NASCAR vehicles are purpose-built for high-speed racing, while regular cars are designed for everyday use. This leads to a significant disparity in design intent, as NASCAR focuses on durability under extreme conditions, whereas standard vehicles prioritize comfort and fuel efficiency.

The level of risk is also considerably different. NASCAR drivers face a controlled environment where speeds are high and risks are well understood. In contrast, regular vehicles operate in unpredictable road conditions where accidents can occur at varying speeds and circumstances.

Moreover, the pace of technological innovation differs. NASCAR rapidly tests and implements safety advancements, while regular cars tend to adopt new technologies more gradually, often influenced by insights gained from motorsport safety features.
