Gunning for Success at Texas: Optimistic to rebound from last week at Dover, Dakoda Armstrong travels to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the WinStar World Casino 400 with confidence and experience at the 1.5-mile oval on his side. With one previous start to his record at Texas, the driver of the No. 98 EverFi Toyota Tundra knows what he needs to do to have a successful weekend. His ThorSport Racing team has also prepared Armstrong’s favorite truck for Friday night’s event, which just came off a solid run at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

“Texas is going to be a lot like Charlotte; we’re going to need to find a setup that will allow me to hold it pretty much wide open all the way around the track to be good,” Armstrong explained. “The track is really fast and wide so there will be a lot of opportunities for side by side racing. We’re bringing the same EverFi Tundra we had at Charlotte a few weeks ago, and judging by the good setup we had at the end of the race then, I think we’ll be in good shape on Friday.”

First and final practice for the NCWTS will take place from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm, and 1:15 -2:30 pm respectively on Thursday at Texas. Qualifying is set for Thursday night at 7:00 pm EST, with the WinStar World Casino 400 green flag set for 9:00 pm EST on Friday night.

Protect The Harvest Riding Along: Hailing from a family with strong agricultural roots, Dakoda Armstrong will be raising awareness about the American farmer with “Protect The Harvest” this weekend at Texas. In an effort to educate American citizens about the benefits of agriculture, “Protect The Harvest” emphasizes the value of farming and the food and products American farms provide for our country. The organization’s logo will be shown on the hood of the No. 98 Toyota Tundra for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 400.

Special Appearances: Dakoda Armstrong will participate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session on Friday from 4:30-5:30 pm located in the midway outside Turn One.

A Look Back at Dover: Aside from battling “The Monster Mile” and the rest of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitors, Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 98 EverFi Tundra team also faced threatening weather and undesirable handling conditions last Friday at Dover International Speedway. Much cooler weather rolled in for the running of the Lucas Oil 200 and changed the condition and feel of the one-mile concrete oval drastically from what it had been on Thursday for practice. After 147 laps of battle on the track, heavy rain rolled in and Armstrong was given a 20th place finish when the race was made official short of its scheduled 200 mile distance.

Chassis History: Reverting to their favorite Toyota Tundra, the No. 98 EverFi team has prepared chassis No. 23 for competition at Texas. Armstrong has raced this chassis most recently at Rockingham and Charlotte this year, yielding top-15 finishes in both events.

You have one previous race at Texas under your belt, what do you remember most?

It’s going to be very important for us to have a good setup under the truck early in the weekend. The track is really fast, and if you’re not able to run as close to wide open as possible throughout the run, you’re not going to be able to run up front. It’s going to be important for us to work on our qualifying effort and start up front too; clean air is key.
