TWO DOZEN MAKE UP INITIAL FAN FRIENDLY AUGUST LODGING OPTIONS | Regional Properties Partner With BMS for Lower-Cost Opportunities

[media-credit name=”bristolmotorspeedway.com” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]BRISTOL, Tenn. (Wednesday, June 6, 2012) – Twenty-four properties stretching from East Tennessee to Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina comprise the first group participating in the Bristol Motor Speedway Fan-Friendly Lodging Partnership Program for the IRWIN Tools Night Race in August.

A continued effort to help guests of BMS with the overall cost of a trip to Bristol, the Fan-Friendly Program includes properties that require reduced or no minimum-night stays at lower costs than previous years.

“The pricing options and payment plans we offer have created a tremendous response of appreciation from our guests,” said BMS General Manager Jerry Caldwell. “We added events to the weekend and made major changes to the race track. Still, the cost of coming to the races presents challenges to folks and we continue to hammer away in an effort to help.”

Prices for rooms at participating properties start at $35 and visitors are urged to check distance and research the property to determine which one best fits their needs.

The program has worked for the properties as well.

“Participation in the (Fan-Friendly) program in the spring resulted in bookings for us and we already have had people calling about the (August) race to see if we are offering the same discount,” said June Gilliam of the Baymont Inn and Suites in Kodak, Tenn. “We would love to offer the same discount.”

Announcement of the Fan-Friendly property list for August comes on the heels of the expanding camping initiative instituted in recent weeks by Caldwell. BMS officials intend to expand camping by up to 700 spots, some for as low as $50, for the IRWIN Tools Night Race weekend.

Those are not all of the initiatives in place to ease the challenges of lodging and travel for Bristol Motor Speedway guests.

“Lower costs, more options, shuttles to relieve the challenges of driving and finding parking, especially for our newer guests, all are programs we either created or on which we work with partners to enhance the Bristol Experience,” Caldwell said. “And we look to expand these programs every event.”

The August race week at BMS kicks off Aug. 22 with a doubleheader, which features the Volunteer 200 Camping World Truck Series race and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified event. On tap Aug. 24 is the Food City 250 Nationwide Series race, followed by the IRWIN Tools Night Race Sprint Cup event Aug. 25.
