Notes:

This Week’s Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra … John Wes Townley will pilot RAB Racing Chassis No. 54 in Saturday’s Grit Chips 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This is the same Zaxby’s Tundra that Townley raced to a 24th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway last week.

Homecoming … Townley, a native of Watkinsville, Ga., grew up approximately 75 miles northeast of Atlanta Motor Speedway. He began his racing career at the Hampton, Ga. track, racing bandoleros on the “Thunder Ring,” located on the frontstretch. From there, he went on to race in the ASA Late Model Series, before joining RAB Racing and moving on to the ARCA Racing Series. Since then, he has amassed 42 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts; 19 Camping World Truck Series starts; and 24 ARCA Racing Series starts.

Townley at Atlanta … While Townley has not yet raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Camping World Truck Series competition, he has raced there before. In one NASCAR Nationwide Series start at the Hampton track, Townley posted a 22nd-place finish after starting 35th in 2010’s Great Clips 300.

RAB Racing at Atlanta… While RAB Racing has not yet competed at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Camping World Truck Series competition, they have competed in two Nationwide Series events at the 1.5-mile track dating back to 2010, posting one top-20 finish.

After 13 Races… Over the first 13 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races of the 2012 season, Townley has accumulated one top-10 finish, seven top-20 finishes, an average starting position of 20.2 and an average finishing position of 20.1. Townley has completed 87.5 percent of the laps he’s contested (1,680 of 1,919) thus far.

Get to the Points … Though Townley and RAB Racing didn’t get the results they hoped for last week at Bristol Motor Speedway, the finish allowed Townley to hold steady, at 18th, in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point standings.

Your Point Is… As we head into the 14th race of the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, RAB Racing currently occupies the 18th position in the owner’s points standings.

RAB Racing in 2012… With 13 races completed in the 2012 season, RAB Racing’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entries have recorded one top-five, two top-10 and eight top-20 finishes with drivers Travis Kvapil and Townley.

Catch the Action … The Grit Chips 200 from Atlanta Motor Speedway will be televised live Friday, August 31 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT on SPEED and broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network. Qualifying will be televised live Friday, August 31 beginning at 4:30 p.m. EDT on SPEED.

John Wes Townley Quotes

“I’m excited to race at my home track, Atlanta Motor Speedway. I’ve only made one start at this track but I’m feeling good about it and looking to forward to seeing what we can do there. I have the utmost confidence in my RAB Racing team to bring a great Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra, and we’re hoping to continue improving.”

Chris Rice Quotes

“Atlanta Motor Speedway is going to be a tough place for everyone. Because the racetrack has gotten a little older and it tends to lose grip fast, you’ll be on old tires pretty quick. It is a fast track and qualifying will be wide open. Handling will come into play over aerodynamics. We’re really looking forward to having Zaxby’s with us on our Toyota Tundra in their and John Wes’s home state.”
