Bill Elliott to test Dale Jr.’s car at Daytona Nationwide Series test

Due to other commitments, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will only be able to take part in the Sprint Cup Series Daytona test. He is not able to stick around for the Nationwide Series test. Though no fear, the car that Earnhardt will run in the Nationwide Series season opener will be at the test.

JR Motorsports announced that Bill Elliott will test Earnhardt Jr.’s Nationwide Series entry at the test alongside JRM teammates Chase Elliott and Regan Smith. JRM announced on Monday that Chase Elliott would run the full schedule for the team in the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” Chase Elliott said.  “My family and I are still trying to believe it all.  I couldn’t ask to be partnered with anyone better than Dale Jr., Kelley and Mr. Hendrick, along with all of the people at their organizations who have put in countless hours to pull this together.”

The Daytona test will mark Chase’s first laps behind his new ride and now he will get to do it with his father testing alongside him.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” the younger Elliott told NASCAR.com. “I know it’s just a test, but I think it’s going to be a pretty cool experience for both of us.”
