(Winchester, IN – July 7, 2014) 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards current championship points leader, Grant Enfinger, will maintain his points leading status after finishing in the top-5 yesterday at Winchester Speedway.
“When we unloaded we were off,” Enfinger said. “But (Crew chief) Kelly Kovski made some great calls and I felt like the car improved. On that long green flag run, we were really good. When we got those late cautions, our car wasn’t set up for those short runs.”
Action began to develop in the first lap of the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 when the #77 and #17 had a on track incident in turn four, directly in front of the No. 90 Motor Honey/Casite – Triple K Construction Ford. Enfinger made his way around the incident with no issues and would start 6th at the green flag, but make his way up to 4th during the restart.
The second caution of the race didn’t come out until lap 105, giving the No. 90 Team BCR Ford a chance to pit for Sunoco fuel, and four Hoosier tires along with chassis adjustments, sending him back out to 3rd. Enfinger had mentioned it was too tight before entering pit road.
Once the green flag flew again, the No. 90 dropped back to 5th, but fought hard with 2013 Winchester race winner, Frank Kimmel to grab the 4th position away. Another caution flew late in the race, giving the field a chance to pit one last time. Crew Chief, Kelly Kovski decided to bring in the No. 90 for a change of right side tires, fuel and adjustments, where Grant would restart 6th with 13 laps to go. Enfinger would make his way up to 5th in the closing laps to earn his sixth top-5 finish of the year.
