WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s Team

Daytona Recap: The annual Fourth of July race weekend at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) turned out to be a rain-soaked endeavor for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS).  After the Coke Zero 400 was postponed because of rain from Saturday night until Sunday morning, the action heated-up before the threat of afternoon showers moved in to the area.  The Cessna Patriotic Chevy SS, sporting a special red, white and blue paint scheme, rolled off from the 36th position and quickly raced to the front before being involved in a multi-car crash on lap 98 that relegated the No. 1 Chevy SS to a 30th place finish.

McMurray at NHMS: McMurray will be making his 23rd NSCS start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) this weekend.  In his previous trips to the “Magic Mile”, McMurray has three top-five and five top-10 finishes, which includes a fifth-place finish in last fall’s race.  McMurray has completed 6,177 of 6,570 (94%) of the laps run at NHMS and has led 32 laps of competition.

Who Let the Dogs Out: The decklid on the No. 1 McDonald’s Chevy SS will feature Big Heart Pet Brands product Milk-Bone® this weekend at NHMS. Milk-Bone® is featuring Chip Ganassi Racing Teams drivers and their dogs in Vine videos throughout July. The original Milk-Bone® dog snack was created in 1908, by the F.H. Bennett Biscuit Company at a bakery in New York City.

Golden Arches: McDonald’s will be back as the primary sponsor on the No. 1 Chevy SS this weekend at NHMS.  There is no reason to go hungry on your way to the track, McDonald’s has several locations near NHMS, including the closest restaurant located at 5 Tilton Road Tilton, NH  03276 (603) 286-7332

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

Daytona Recap: As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made its first return trip to a track this season, weather once again played a factor at the World Center of Racing in Daytona Beach as practice, qualifying and the race were all affected by rain.  The weekend started positively for Kyle Larson as the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS finished the one and only practice session with the second fastest lap time behind teammate Jamie McMurray.  However, after being collected in an early accident Larson fell far behind the race field while his car was being repaired and finished the rain-shortened race in 36th place.

Larson at NHMS: While Larson will be making his first NSCS start at the “Magic Mile,” he does have two previous starts including a win at the track.  Larson started third and raced to a victory in the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race.  Larson also has one start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), which came last year.

Potent Passer: At the halfway point of the season, Larson trails only Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth for the best adjusted pass efficiency in the NSCS.  In the first nine races, Larson posted a passing efficiency of 53.07%, and he had an efficiency of 53.42% in the second nine races.  The number measures the percentage of pass encounters that are successful passes while omitting pit road gains under green-flag conditions.

Halfway to His Goal: At the midpoint of the NSCS season, Larson continues to lead the Rookie of the Year standings by 15 points.  Larson’s first 18 races concluded with three top-five and seven top-10 finishes, including a career best second place finish at Auto Club Speedway in his home-state of California.

A Shopping Bullseye:  If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  The nearest Target is located at 80 D’Amante Drive, Concord, NH 03301 and can be reached at (603) 227-0809.  Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
