INNISFIL, Ontario – As a result of mechanical issues during the feature at Sunset Speedway, Tyler Hawn would post an 18th place finish.
Hawn started off the night solidly, finishing sixth and seventh in his pair of heats, to start 16th in the inaugural Bruce Gowland Memorial on Saturday night. The Hawn Motorsports pilot began to work his way up through the field, escaping incident in the first two cautions to run 11th as of lap three. Hawn would get around Kyle Passer when he spun on the restart to crack the top 10.
After the restart for Passer’s spin, Hawn would battle hard mid-pack, looking to gain more ground. Looking to grab the eight spot from Corey Jones on lap nine, Hawn would get to his inside through turns three and four, in hopes of making the pass down the frontstretch into turn one. However, that wouldn’t happen as Jones would come down slightly on the frontstretch, resulting in contact between the pair, causing Hawn to spin in turn one.
After a quick trip down pit road to assess the car and being put to the rear as involved, Hawn would sit in 17th spot. Starting deep in the field, he would manage to escape the six car multi-wreck to move up to 11th. After the second attempt at a restart, Hawn continued his climb, cracking the top 10 at lap 20.
Though as the laps ticked by, it was obvious that something was wrong with the car as Hawn’s progress slowed, going a lap down at lap 29, before hitting pit road at lap 33. Determining their problems were terminal, Hawn would pull behind the wall, done for the night.

Looking to turn his luck around, Hawn will head to Peterborough Speedway this weekend. Peterborough has always been a great track for Hawn, as he finished sixth earlier this month, and seventh in the Autumn Colors Classic last October.
