LARSON LOOKS TO DEFEND HIS CHARLOTTE CROWN

Larson enters Saturday’s race as the defending XFINITY Series spring race winner at Charlotte Motor Speedway after earning his second-career victory there last May. In four previous starts at the 1.5-mile speedway, Larson has an average starting position of 8.8, an average finishing position of 5.8 and has led 99 laps. His best start was third last year. Larson has made three XFINITY Series starts in the ENEOS Chevrolet Camaro in 2015 (Daytona, Atlanta and Auto Club), finishing in the top 10 each time out.

YOUR CHANCE TO RACE AGAINST TEAM ENEOS

Join Larson, Global Rallycross standout Steve Arpin and World of Outlaws fan favorite Shane Stewart at GoPro Motorplex on Friday,  May 22 for the first annual ENEOS 250. From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. EDT the first 240 fans will race for a berth in the ENEOS 250. The event is free of charge. Drivers will be made available for the media at 1:15 p.m. EDT.

IOWA RECAP

While Larson is driving the No. 42 ENEOS Camaro this weekend, XFINITY Series rookie Brennan Poole was behind the wheel of the DC Solar Camaro last weekend in Iowa. Poole was scheduled to start 12th after advancing through all three rounds of knockout qualifying, but he was forced to start at the rear of the field per NASCAR’s impound procedure after having to replace an oil line. Within the first 10 laps of the race, Poole was able to drive his way back into the top 25. Unfortunately, several incidents throughout the 250-lap event forced Poole to retire early from the race and settle for a 38th-place finish.

LARSON ON CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“Charlotte is a track that has some special meaning to me because it’s where I made my Cup debut and won my second-career XFINITY Series race. It’s a fast track that usually has multiple-grooves, which the drivers like. Qualifying will be important because the race typically has long green-flag runs, so starting up front will be key. Brennan [Poole] has done a good job the last few weeks for the 42 team, and I am very excited to be back behind the wheel of the ENEOS Camaro this weekend.”

CREW CHIEF MIKE SHIPLETT ON CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“Charlotte is a very fast track, so setting the car up with a good balance is crucial. With practice time before qualifying at a premium, a good starting spot is really important because of the long green-flag runs. Kyle has a great record here, and we hope this weekend is no different for our ENEOS Camaro team.”
