SMITHLEY RIDING MOMENTUM INTO IOWA

NEWTON, Iowa – Carrying momentum from a series of good runs, Garrett Smithley will drive the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller No. 0 Chevrolet in Sunday’s American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway.

The middle months of the Xfinity Series season have been good to Smithley. He finished 17th last week at Michigan International Speedway after a strong run the previous week at Pocono Raceway. A 15th-place finish at Charlotte highlighted the week before the Pocono race.

“We’ve been on a fine run lately,” Smithley said. “The guys are giving me good cars, and we’ve been able to make gains every week. We’re looking for more at Iowa.”

The .875-mile track will be brand new to Smithley, who is in his first full season in Xfinity. He is 19th in Xfinity Series points.

Iowa practice is scheduled at 4:30 and 7 p.m. (ET) Friday. Saturday’s schedule includes qualifying at 6:45 p.m. The race is set for 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
