Ford Performance NASCAR: Indianapolis (Greg Biffle)

Ford Performance NASCAR Notes and Quotes
Brickyard 400 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Saturday, July 23, 2016

Greg Biffle arrived at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend with a heavy heart following the death of his father, Jack, earlier in the week. Biffle also arrived with the confidence of three-straight top-10 finishes and past success at the track along with speed in his 16 Fusion during the practice sessions. Biffle spoke about all those topics prior to qualifying Saturday at the Brickyard.

GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford Fusion – WHERE DO YOU FEEL YOUR CAR IS ON SPEED RIGHT NOW AFTER THE TWO PRACTICE SESSIONS YESTERDAY? “I feel like we have a top-10 car for sure. We were a little faster than the 2 in our qualifying run early, so he is the only one we can compare to. I don’t know how he felt about his car. In race trim we are pretty decent. The 11 and a couple others are a hair better than we are, the 18 too. But we are not far off. I feel like we have a top-10 car for sure. We just need a good qualifying round and then have a good day on pit road tomorrow.”

THREE TOP-10 FINISHES IN A ROW FOR YOU. CAN YOU MAKE IT FOUR THIS WEEKEND? “I think so, for sure, if not better. I like this track. We are running well right now and I have a lot of confidence right now, so that definitely helps. I think we will be good in qualifying.”

YOU HAVE HAD DECENT SUCCESS HERE IN THE PAST, WHAT IS IT ABOUT THIS TRACK THAT SUITS YOU? “I don’t know. It is just unique and hard and big and fast. It is a different place and I really like that about it. It is hot, but it isn’t too bad. We are just sitting in there baking.”

IT HAS BEEN A TOUGH WEEK FOR YOU PERSONALLY WITH THE PASSING OF YOUR FATHER, JACK. HAS THIS BEEN A WELCOME DISTRACTION TO GET TO THE TRACK, OR DO YOU FIND YOUR MIND WANDERING? “I think it is a welcomed distraction. He was sick last week when I was in Loudon, so I was thinking a lot about his last weekend at the track. It is a tough deal to go through. Everybody has either gone through it or are going to go through it. It is not an easy process. I think the only thing I can say at the end of the day, and everybody always says the same thing, is that you just wish you had spent one more day with him. Instead of going off and doing your own thing. I can go to the desert anytime I want but I can’t go hang out with my dad anymore and go fish off the dock or something like that. That is what I am going to miss the most. It is hard.”
