Ray Black Jr. Bristol Motor Speedway Preview

NASCAR Driver Returns to Site of First XFINITY Series Top-20 Finish

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla.  (August 17, 2016) – It’s back to short track racing for the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) this weekend, and Ray Black Jr. is ready to make his return to Bristol Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet Camaro earned his first career NXS Top-20 finish at “The Last Great Colosseum” back in April of this year.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend,” stated Black. “It’s the site of our first Top-20 finish in the XFINITY Series! We’ve always run well there as a team, so I’m excited to see what we can do this time now that we have even more experience in the XFINITY Series under our belts.”

Black and his SS Green Light Racing team have visited “The World’s Fastest Short Track” twice before, finishing in the Top-25 both times. Their 20th place finish from earlier this season is the pairing’s best result to date.

“Short tracks like Bristol are huge opportunities for smaller teams like us,” Black explained. “Motors aren’t everything at these tracks, and teams can work on the chassis more to help even out the playing field a little bit. We need to make the most of this weekend. I really don’t see any reason why we can’t improve our finish at Bristol and score our first XFINITY Top-15 finish this weekend!”

Along with the technical advantages Bristol Motor Speedway presents, Black is also prepared to make the most of his time on track and be aggressive from start to finish during Friday’s Food City 300.

“At Bristol I feel like I really need to be more aggressive on the restarts and get as much as I can from them,” Black said. “Track position is huge at Bristol and it’s a shorter race than some of our other events, so every moment out there counts. I plan to make the most of it!”

The Food City 300 will take place on Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Bristol Motor Speedway. Fans can tune in via the USA Network or the Performance Racing Network for live race coverage.
