Talladega Superspeedway Ignites Confidence In McDowell AndCircle Sport – Leavine Family Racing

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Team Chefs To Face-Off In A Barbecue Challenge Before The Hellmann’s 500

CONCORD, N.C. (October 19, 2016) – NASCAR driver Michael McDowell and Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing (CSLFR) are thrilled to be heading to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, an opportune track to add to the team’s already exceptional 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season.

McDowell has made tremendous strides this year in the NSCS, as he has earned career-best finishes at fourteen different tracks. He plans to expand on this impressive resume at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, where his career-best finish is currently 15th place.

“Talladega is one of those tracks you never know about, but superspeedways have been great for us,” said McDowell. “The majority of our best finishes have come at the superspeedways. You just have to race hard and put yourself in position at the end and see what happens. Hopefully, we will play it smart and have a good race.”

McDowell earned his best finishes at restrictor plate superspeedways, such as Talladega and Daytona, and has recorded a total of three Top-10’s, two Top-15’s and two Top-25 finishes. He will pilot the No. 95 K-LOVE Chevrolet SS for the Hellmann’s 500 this weekend.

CSLFR is also excited to host the first annual “Great Pit-Master Challenge” at Talladega where they will partner with Roush Fenway Racing to face-off in a barbecue cook-off.

Hauler driver and chef for the team, JR Hollar, will be competing against Roush Fenway Racing’s chef, Eloy Trevino, in a barbecue cook-off, where a judging panel comprised of NASCAR notables will name the “Ultimate Pit-Master” of the NSCS garage.

“I’m looking forward to this friendly competition,” said Hollar. “I love cooking for the team, and the cook-off will be really fun. I did a practice run last weekend in Kansas, where I cooked smoked sausage and pulled pork. I even have a special sauce I am making from scratch! I think CSLFR will bring home the trophy, and I am excited about that.”

The “Great Pit-Master Challenge” will take place on Sunday, October 23 preceding the Hellmann’s 500, which will begin at 1:15 PM CT. Race fans can tune-in to NBCSN for live race coverage and follow @CSLFR on Twitter for updates.
