Following a weekend off, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams returned to action at Chicagoland Speedway. The Red Horse Racing teams posting top-10 practice speeds in the final practice session on Thursday, Sept. 11. The following afternoon, rain postponed qualifying for the 15th race of the 2014 season, setting the starting grid per the NASCAR rule book, with Germán Quiroga in the eighth position and Timothy Peters in the 10th.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) made its second and final stop of the 2014 season at Chicagoland Speedway for the Jimmy Johns Freaky Fast 300. Dylan Kwasniewski and the No. 31 AccuDoc Solutions/Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet team looked to build upon his first-career start at the 1.5-mile speedway earlier this season.
Brian Scott qualified on the pole for the Jimmy John's Freaky Fast 300 powered by Coca-Cola and was the highest qualifying Richard Childress Racing entry at Chicagoland Speedway. Teammates Paul Menard, Ty Dillon and Brendan Gaughan, qualified sixth, eighth, and 15th, respectively.
Ryan Reed and the No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes team finished 24th in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Chicagoland Speedway. The team battled hard and overcame several obstacles throughout the course of the race to finish inside the top-25.
Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang, improved 12 positions in the final 40 laps of Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event at Chicagoland Speedway to score his fifth top-five finish of the 2014 season, crossing the finish line for the final time in the fifth position.
Landon Cassill finished 16th Saturday in the Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast 300 Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway, continuing his strong summer run.
RYAN BLANEY, No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – “Getting the right rear in the wall might have been the biggest thing to tighten it up all day. We tried everything to tighten it up and made little gains but not a lot. Jeremy Bullins did a great job of adjusting to it and being able to hang with this car all day even though it isn’t what we wanted. We want to be in victory lane but when the day started like that I would have taken a fourth and it is good to see the resilience of this team and being able to come home with a decent finish.”
