Logano won the Ford EcoBoost 400 in Homestead-Miami and his first Cup Championship of his 10-year career. In addition, Team Penske secured the Owner’s Championship and Ford Motor Company claimed the Manufacturers’ Championship title. The drivers’ championship is Ford’s ninth overall and sixth in the modern era (1972-present).

Joey Logano began his quest for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship Sunday afternoon from the fifth position in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Logano topped the speed charts in both of Saturday’s practice sessions, and carried the speed into the early laps of the race. Logano moved into the third position by lap 4, all while battling a tight handling Shell-Pennzoil Ford.

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center Ford team ended their first season together with a 25th-place finish in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but Menard and the team consider their first year a promising foundation for future successes.

In the season finale of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) season at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove his Fastenal Ford to a 16th- place finish despite battling an ill-handling machine. In 2018, Stenhouse scored three top-five and five top-10 finishes.

JOEY LOGANO: Yeah, I think it has. It's just ‑‑ man, it's incredible what goes through your mind and how it feels to be able to cross the start‑finish line. You're able to take the lead and you know there's quite a few laps left, and as you get closer, five laps, four laps, you're counting them down, like ugh, you just want to take the white flag to where you know the caution comes out, we got it.

Matt Kenseth and the No. 6 Roush Fenway team saved their best run of the season for last, putting together a strong effort in the Wyndham Rewards Ford to cross the line sixth Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the season finale.

Martin Truex Jr.’s quest to repeat as the NASCAR Cup Series champion came up a little short, finishing runner-up to Joey Logano in Sunday’s highly emotional, championship thriller at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

ROGER PENSKE: Well, I think the playoffs, obviously with 16 down to four, there was lots of emotion, lots of good racing, and certainly to see it today with all four of them up on that pilon almost all together for the whole 267 laps just shows you how good these guys are and how good the racing is.

Toyota NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs drivers Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch finished second and fourth, respectively, in Sunday’s championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Joey Logano became the eighth different driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship with Ford Performance. It’s the second series title for car owner Roger Penske.
