Did you know Joe Lee Johnson, driving a Chevrolet Impala, won the inaugural World 600 on June 19, 1960? Chevrolet has won the NASCAR Cup Series’ longest race with multiple models including Monte Carlo, Lumina, Monte Carlo SS, and most recently the Chevy SS.

In a patriotic pre-race Salute to the Troops like no other on Memorial Day weekend, Charlotte Motor Speedway will incorporate troops from all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces amid a remarkable display of star power and firepower prior to Sunday’s 59th running of the Coca-Cola 600.

Chase Elliott on racing at Charlotte: “It has been kind of an up-and-down place. We have had some really good cars there and some not-so-good days, too. I haven’t really felt like I have hit on any magic there, but it’s been a fun place to go and I don’t have anything against it.”

Beginning Memorial Day weekend, the NASCAR industry will honor United States Armed Forces heroes and their families as part of NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola – a collective expression of reverence, respect and gratitude for those who served and continue to defend America today.

Stenhouse Jr. has 12 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway with an average starting position of 20.2 and average finishing position of 19.7.

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and Kalahari Resorts and Conventions are once again teaming up for the third straight year for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Home to America's Largest Indoor Waterparks, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions will serve as the primary sponsor on Ryan Newman's No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at Pocono Raceway on June 3. Kalahari Resorts and Conventions will also host RCR during its two NASCAR events in Pennsylvania.

It is safe to say that Martin Truex Jr. has figured out Charlotte Motor Speedway, site of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, the longest race on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit.

It was a nice prelude to the All-Star Race in Charlotte on Saturday. First, we had a down and out established team show some life by taking the front row. The pole went to a former champion just a week after he ran his first race of the season.

KAHNE BY THE NUMBERS: In 28 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career starts at Charlotte, Kasey Kahne has an average start of 12.5 and an average finish of 13.4. He’s completed 9,472 of 10,113 (93.7 percent) career laps, and has led for a total of 1,108 laps. Kahne has earned four wins which include three Coca-Cola 600 victories, 10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile track.
