NASCAR Cup Series

For Martin Truex Jr. it’s been too long – five years to be exact -- since he left Bristol Motor Speedway with a good feeling. The last time the Furniture Row Racing driver walked out of the half-mile, high-banked oval with a top-10 finish in the NASCAR Cup Series was April 2012 when he posted a third-place result.

After taking last weekend off, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to action with Sunday’s annual Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Ford has had good success at the half-mile track, winning 36 times in NASCAR’s top touring series, including a streak of at least one win in 17-of-18 seasons (1990-2008).

Stenhouse has eight NASCAR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Bristol Motor Speedway with an average starting position of 23.4 and average finishing position of 10.6. In his eight MENCS starts, Stenhouse has scored three top-five and four top-10 finishes at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’.

Bass Pro Shops today announced a special paint scheme that will adorn the Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) No. 1 Chevrolet SS of Jamie McMurray at the Bristol spring race. Noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder/CEO Johnny Morris is donating space on the race car to the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the wild turkey and the preservation of our hunting heritage. The No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/NWTF Chevy will compete in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Sunday, April 23.

Nevertheless, I was pleased to drive Ona because I'd heard that The King himself, Richard Petty, had raced there in the 1960's. Richmond International Raceway is bringing back a racing classic. Red stripes will return to the track walls of America’s Premier Short Track. This will be the first time since February 1988 that fans and drivers will race along red stripes on Richmond’s track wall. See attached image for a mockup of the red stripes at Richmond.
