Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, overcame a pit road speeding penalty and led 22 laps before finishing in the 10th position on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Talladega Superspeedway.

Austin Dillon guided the iconic No. 3 Dow – Energy & Water/Intellifresh Chevrolet SS to give Team Chevy a third-place finish in a crash-laden GEICO 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, the 10th round in the 2016 season. The third place finish did not come easy. Dillon was involved a multi-car accident on lap 97, but the No. 3 team never gave up and made 16 trips to pit road to fix crash damage. In the waning laps, the 26-year-old driver used the draft to inch his way closer to the lead spot and gave his team a shot at the victory. Dillon led the parade of six Chevrolet SS drivers to a 3-4-5-6-7-8 finish.

While Tony Stewart was the driver of record for starting the race, relief driver Ty Dillon drove the car to a top-10 finish at Talladega. After switching out with Stewart under the first caution of the race, the relief driver of the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing survived carnage to finish sixth in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

As the field wrecked behind, Brad Keselowski was up front when it mattered and scored the victory at the Alabama roulette wheel. The driver of the No. 2 Team Penske Ford led 46 laps, the most of anyone, and survived a host of wrecks on his way to winning the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Camry driver Kyle Busch (second) piloted the top-finishing Toyota in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway.

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 DOW- ENERGY&WATER/INTELLIFRESH CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 3RD “My car was actually probably dragging; the No. 1 (Jamie McMurray) could stick to my back bumper and he gave me a heck of a push all the way through (Turns) 3 and 4 and when he did that, I knew we were going to have a shot at it. But as soon as I pulled out, it was kind of a parachute but I had to make a shot at it."

Chase Elliott earned his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole with a fast lap of 49.704 seconds, 192.661 mph in his No. 24 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet SS for Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. He also won the pole position for the season-opening Daytona 500 in February. This marks Elliott’s first pole at the 2.66-mile track.
