Martinsville Speedway, Richard Childress Racing, and Childress Vineyards are teaming up to celebrate the race team's 50th Anniversary with a special "Cheers to the Years" ticket package available to fans attending the First Data 500 this fall.

Chevrolet has won 41 of the 115 races at the 1.366-mile venue dubbed “The Track Too Tough to Tame” and “The Lady in Black.” Twenty different Chevrolet drivers and teams have hoisted the winner’s trophy at the egg-shaped racetrack. That list includes Herb Thomas, who produced the Bowtie’s inaugural win at the track on September 5, 1955. He qualified eighth in a Chevrolet Bel Air with an SBC Chevy V8 engine and earned $7,480 for the victory in the 336-lap race that took 5 hours, 25 minutes.

NAPA THROWBACK: In June, the No. 9 team unveiled the throwback scheme via social media that will hit the track at Darlington Raceway this weekend. The ride mirrors the fourth-ever NASCAR Cup Series car of Chase Elliott’s father, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott. Bill Elliott drove it while racing for his father, George Elliott, in the 1981 season. That year, Bill Elliott captured his first Cup Series pole at Darlington and earned seven top-10 finishes. Richard Childress Racing's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history at Darlington Raceway ... Richard Childress is tied for third in all-time car owner victories with Holman-Moody and the Wood Brothers at Darlington Raceway with eight wins each. Dale Earnhardt collected all of RCR's victories at the South Carolina-based track.

The Throwback-themed weekends at Darlington Raceway have become wildly popular with fans, car owners, drivers and nearly everyone who follows the sport of NASCAR.

Newman will make his 21st Cup start at Darlington on Sunday. In 20 prior events, Newman has an average finish of 12.1 – his best of any track on the circuit – with 13 top-10s and seven top fives.

Darlington “NASCAR Throwback” Preview: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads next to “The Lady in Black” for 367 laps of action at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The annual Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway is up next on the NASCAR schedule with the NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event on Sunday. Brad Keselowski is the defending winner of both series events.

Stenhouse Jr. has six Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Darlington Raceway with an average starting position of 18.5 and average finishing position of 22.5.

Once again, Shriner David Ragan and Shriners Hospitals for Children are ready to give back.  Ragan heads to the Darlington Raceway this weekend to celebrate the history and tradition of NASCAR during its annual "Throwback Weekend."  And, he'll have a little help from 14-year-old Shriners Hospital for Children Greenville patient, Brannen.  Brannen, 14, from Charlotte, N.C. is being treated for  cerebral palsy at the Hospital.  Brannen, along with other guests from Shriners International will be VIP guests of Ragan.
