It went from a really good car to a car that couldn’t stay on the lead lap with changing tires and a half pound of air. A lot of things don’t line up there. That doesn’t make any sense."

BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Mustang – WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT ROGER BUYING IMS? “It came out of left field. I had no idea it was coming. I knew he was working on something big when he wasn’t at Martinsville or Texas. I’ve learned RP and when he’s not at moments like that, something really big is about to go down. I didn’t know what it was, it could have been a number of things, but that was not on my list of things that I thought it could be.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 CLOVER CAMARO ZL1 – Qualified 5th DO YOU HAVE A CAR CAPABLE OF WINNING HERE THIS WEEKEND? “There’s definitely guys that are faster than I am. I feel like I’m a bit like a fifth to seventh place car after practice. I felt like the 11 (Denny Hamlin) was, by far, the best. But I almost won here in 2017 and I had a third to fifth place car. We just had some restarts there late and lined up in the right position. Anything can happen, so we’ll see. I’m hopeful.”

Kyle Busch earned his first pole position of the season and will lead the field to the green in Sunday’s Cup Series race at ISM Raceway, a track he’s won the last two races at. All three Toyota Playoff drivers will start the 312 lap race from the first two rows.

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK, No. 36 Yanman/Martin Generators Ford Mustang – HOW HAS YOUR ADJUSTMENT BEEN TO FRONT ROW? “The second week in a Cup car and I’m still trying to learn. Texas was a learning process of trying to figure out your balance to run as close to wide-open as you possibly could, and it was all about having your car trimmed out or not trimmed out to run wide-open or not wide-open – just trying to figure all that stuff out. Here at Phoenix it’s a little bit different – high downforce and high horsepower and trying to figure all of that out as far as throttle time, brake, how much you need to roll."

HAVE YOU TALKED TO BUBBA WALLACE AT ALL AFTER THAT CAUTION? ARE YOU STILL MAD A WEEK LATER? “No, I haven’t talked to Bubba (Wallace). It’s not an issue with him personally. It is what it is. Like I said, afterwards you can be mad, but I’m still 23 points down. It doesn’t matter, we have to go out here and have a good weekend. We’ll try to get a lot of points and try to win also. I just look forward to the challenge.”

KEVIN HARVICK, No. 4 Mobil 1 Ford Mustang – WHAT IS YOUR MINDSET KNOWING THE PRESSURE IS OFF? “I think it transfers over to thinking about this race next year. I think it’s the first step in a process of kind of putting Phoenix at a different level for us as far as preparation, the things that we do that come with that, so that when we come back we have a firm understanding of where our simulation and things are for this particular race track and start that process going in the first race and the second race for next year."
