Since its inception in 2014, the revamped Chase format in the Sprint Cup Series has featured electrifying drama in the season-finale championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Dakoda will be making his third career NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He has a best finish of 10th at the 2.4-mile road course which came during the 2014 event.

Ryan Reed has competed at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course twice in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In his 2014 rookie season, Reed finished 12th after starting 28th. In this race last year, Reed finished 22nd after starting 17th and getting caught up in an incident while battling for the ninth position with 11 laps to go.
