NASCAR O'Reilly Series

In his first visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Roush Fenway Racing's Bubba Wallace suffered a flat tire early in his No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Mustang. The team was unable to overcome the lost lap, ultimately finishing the day in 23rd.

In his second NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Chris Buescher battled a No. 60 Zest Ford Mustang that started too loose and ended too tight to finish 16th. With the finish, Buescher maintains his lead in the driver point standings.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished fifth during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Sadler qualified sixth on Saturday morning for the 100 lap, 250 mile event at the historical race track. Not long after the green flag dropped, Sadler radioed to the team the car is extremely tight. Cautions on Lap 12 and on Lap 22 allowed for the No. 1 OneMain Financial crew to make critical adjustments on Sadler’s car. Running well, Sadler pitted under green on Lap 67, which turned out to be his last pit stop of the day. Sadler managed his fuel in the final 30 laps and the pit strategy worked out perfectly. Sadler crossed the line fifth and the No. 1 OneMain Financial team was able to bring home a great top-5 finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Paul Menard finished fourth and was the highest finishing Richard Childress Racing driver in the Lily Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ty Dillon finished ninth, Brian Scott 11th and Brendan Gaughan 13th.

Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed and the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association team finished 20th on Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Lilly Diabetes 250.

Kyle Busch, in the No.54 Monster Energy Toyota, made a last lap pass on Ryan Blaney, driver of the No.22 Discount Tire Ford, to score his 72nd career victory in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and his second win in four starts at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

RYAN BLANEY – No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – “It’s my fault, obviously. You saw it. I screwed up. This team doesn’t deserve that. I dropped the ball for them today and I take full responsibility. It’s all my fault.”

It is a big week for NASCAR. First we had Eldora and over the weekend Indianapolis. I guess I’m pondering the great love affair with a truck race on dirt and the revival of the road race. Once upon a time, the fan base hated road courses and didn’t acknowledge dirt tracks because they were “minor league.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and XFINITY Series travel to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. All Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series practices, qualifying sessions and races will be televised on NBC Sports Live Extra as indicated.
