Miguel Paludo was one of the best in the field as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) battled it out at Michigan International Speedway. Paludo earned a top-10 starting position for the Michigan National Guard 200 and led 20 laps on his way to a fifth-place finish, his second-consecutive top five and eighth top 10 of the season.

James Buescher came into the Michigan National Guard 200 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) looking to put the previous outing behind him and his Rheem team. Coming off solid practice sessions and a stellar qualifying effort, Buescher started the 100-lap race in the third position. After dropping back in the field for the first half of the race, Buescher worked his way up to the top five with under 10 laps remaining.

There is no doubt that Jimmie Johnson is the dominant driver of this generation. However; Johnson isn't much different from dominant drivers of past generations in one aspect. Dale Earnhardt was 0-19 Daytona 500 before his victory in 1998, and Jeff Gordon was 0-17 at the Texas Motor Speedway before holding off a late charge from Johnson for the win in 2009. Johnson comes into this weekend 0-23 at the Michigan International Speedway and some have questioned whether Johnson will ever win in the Irish Hills. Don't be surprised if the 48 can prove all the critics wrong once again.

After a wild weekend of turning left and right at the fast road course at Watkins Glen, the three national NASCAR series head their separate ways this weekend with the Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series heading to Michigan to take on the 2 mile Michigan International Speedway and the Nationwide Series heading to their second road course race in a row for their inaugural race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

How can NASCAR turn the yawn fest that has become Nationwide Series Racing into something the fans will enjoy again? My twitter and Facebook time lines both blow up when Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Kasey Kahne, or even Matt Kenseth take the lead at any point in the race. It quickly becomes a stream of “Anybody but……(fill in Cup Regulars name here).

Justin Lofton returns behind the wheel of the Sharp-Gallaher Racing No. 6 Chevrolet Silverado on Aug. 21 to battle in the NASCAR Camping World Series under the lights of Bristol Motor Speedway. The Westmorland, Calif., native is scheduled to compete in eight of the final ten 2013 Camping World Truck Series events.

SEASON AT-A-GLANCE: As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series enters their 12th race of the season at Michigan International Speedway for the Michigan National Guard 200, John Wes Townley and his No. 7 Zaxby's Toyota Tundra team have a lot to be proud of. In 11 races, Townley has tied his career best finish (eighth) at Charlotte Motor Speedway and earned five top-15 finishes. The young driver continues to learn during his first full season in the Truck Series and with Red Horse while making gains in his Toyota Tundra.
