In 2009, a significant transformation occurred when Camping World became the title sponsor, renaming the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series series. Precision and Power: Truck Specifications

One of the defining features of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series is the use of purpose-built pickup trucks designed exclusively for the rigors of racing. These trucks boast potent engines, aerodynamic enhancements, and safety features crafted to withstand the demands of high-speed competition. Unlike vehicles in other NASCAR series, these trucks are relatively smaller and lighter, adding an element of agility and maneuverability that enhances the overall racing experience.

The series prioritizes parity among competitors, implementing strict regulations governing the truck specifications. This focus on equality ensures that success is determined by the driver’s skill and the team’s efficiency rather than the sheer power of the vehicle. This balance of precision and power sets the Truck Series apart, making each race showcase skill and strategy.

Fan Engagement and the Essence of Accessibility

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series stands out for its on-track excitement, fan-friendly atmosphere, and accessibility. Unlike other racing series, the Truck Series allows fans to get up close and personal with the drivers, teams, and trucks during events. Autograph sessions, fan zones, and interactive activities enhance the overall experience, fostering a strong connection between the competitors and their supporters.

The series benefits from a dedicated fan base that appreciates the intense and often unpredictable nature of truck racing. The accessibility of the trucks and drivers, coupled with affordable ticket prices, makes attending a Truck Series race an attractive option for both avid NASCAR fans and casual spectators. This close interaction between fans and the racing community contributes to the unique atmosphere that sets the Truck Series apart.

A dealership with a positive reputation for transparency, customer service, and integrity is more likely to provide a satisfying and trustworthy car-buying journey.

Tip 4: Visit Showrooms

A physical visit to the showrooms of potential Chevrolet car dealerships is an essential step to assess the environment and interact with the staff. A welcoming and organized showroom reflects a dealership’s commitment to customer satisfaction. Take note of the cleanliness, the presentation of vehicles, and the demeanor of the staff to gauge the overall atmosphere and professionalism.

Cadillac Racing tops speed chart again

No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R entry quickest in morning, afternoon test sessions

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 25, 2024) – The No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R topped the time sheet in the morning and afternoon test sessions Thursday in preparation for the 62nd Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou bested the field-leading lap time set earlier in the session by teammate Renger van der Zande on the 3.56-mile, 12-turn Daytona International Speedway course at 1 minute, 35.589 seconds as the ambient temperature pushed 80 degrees Fahrenheit with similar humidity.

In the late morning session, Scott Dixon recorded the quickest lap time in the 10-car Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) field at 1:36.012.

Cadillac Racing entries have stood atop the speed chart in six of the eight sessions during the Roar Before The 24 last weekend and today. Another session tonight and a final warmup Friday are on the schedule as Cadillac teams prepare for the twice-around-the-clock test Saturday and Sunday. The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, with Pipo Derani behind the wheel, earned the pole with a track-record lap time and Sebastien Bourdais drove the No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R to second to complete the front row lockout.

Jack Aitken and Tom Blomqvist join Derani, the reigning IMSA GTP champion, to drive the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, which checked in with best lap times of 1:36.619 in the morning and 1:35.788 in the second practice.

An intervierw with Alex Palou, drive of the No. 01 Cadillac Racing Cadillac V-Series.R

How have things progressed in the GTP class, and how are they going for you and your team?

“Yeah, it’s been a good day for us so far in the 01 car. I believe we were fastest this morning with Dixon in the car and (Sebastian Bourdais), and then this afternoon with Renger (van der Zande) and I. Pretty cool. A lot of learning. Every time you go out on track, it’s very different with conditions, traffic, and so on. So, yeah, just learning as much as possible from the traffic and also from the car, trying to get the most we can for the race. It’s going to be, obviously, a long race so we’re trying to maximize the performance from the car. Pit stop practice with a driver change is something I’m not really used to, so that’s been the biggest thing for me.”

You’ve raced this race once before. What is it that makes you so comfortable in the car so quickly? Is it prior experience, a good fit?

“It helps to have done the race before, obviously. It also helps they give me a lot of track team, honestly. I had full sessions last week, which normally the fourth or third driver doesn’t get it. I’ve been getting a lot of laps. I think it helps having the teammates that I have, that they don’t need so many laps in the car. It fits. The car feels really good. It’s really intuitive, so it’s been more the differences with INDYCAR and traffic and managing all that stuff. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters. We’re not going to have clean laps during the race, so it’s all about working on traffic and driver changes for me. It’s where I can gain the most.”

Do you think it’s also because they have trust in you?

“I hope so, yes. Not from the drivers, but yes, from the team. They know I log the tires all the time, or I leave the belts too tight, or there is always something going on when I’m in the car. We’re trying stuff. I just need to get used to all of the processes with the driver change. It’s been a lot better this week than we were last week.”

The Cadillacs were fast in the cold last weekend. You guys qualified 1-2 and you’re quick again today in the heat. Are you confident you’re ready for whatever the race conditions that get throw at you?

“Yeah, absolutely. We don’t really know what other teams or manufacturers are doing. We know what we are doing. The car feels really good, honestly. We’ve made a lot of progress from last week in what the drivers have said, (Scott) Dixon, and Renger (van der Zande). It’s a lot better than the test we had in December as well, so the team did amazing work. We’re confident, but then it’s a 24-hour race, so it’s all about keeping the car in one piece until the last two hours, then go for it. It’s going to be up to the drivers to take care of the 01 car.”

Jack Aitken, No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R: “Tricky conditions compared to the Roar last week just from it being warmer and ratcheting up the pace as well in terms of taking a bit more risk with the car and really dialing in on the settings we’ll have for the race. We have a couple more sessions to keep dialing in the car and everything is going to plan.”

Exciting lineup of Cadillac vehicles on display

Spectators can see the award-winning lineup of Cadillac vehicles, including the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing that is the Official Safety Car of the 62nd Rolex 24 At Daytona, at the Cadillac display in the midway. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Preparation is one of the biggest keys in motorsports, and with so much data that is available to the drivers, it’s my job to translate the most important parts to them and work with them to make sure they are ready to go in all aspects come race weekend. Jimmie, Matt and I built a great relationship through road biking and training together over the years. We all share a common mentality that drivers can all become even better at their craft if they are willing to put in the work -whether that be in fitness, studying, or leading their teams. Relying on raw ability at this level isn’t enough. It’s funny, because when I was a driver everything felt like it was being built around me, so as I make this transition, I’m looking forward to building up others and helping them make the most of their careers. Very few teams have in house programs like this so I’m excited to build this from a blank slate alongside our leaders and drivers.” said Bayne.

Additionally, as announced via social media this week, Truck Series standout Corey Heim will serve as a “reserve driver” for both 23XI Racing and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB throughout the 2024 season. In addition to competing for a Truck Series championship with TRICON Garage this year along with several starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Sam Hunt Racing, five-time Truck Series winner and nine-time ARCA Series winner Heim will work closely with LEGACY M.C.’s crew chiefs and Toyota Racing Development as a simulation driver. In 2023, Heim clinched the Truck Series regular season championship and ultimately finished third in Truck Series points.

“This is a big opportunity, and I can’t thank everyone at LEGACY M.C. and Toyota for believing in me. The access to information and the extra sim time as I continue to grow in my career is extremely valuable. I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible from the drivers and Club members at the track.” said Heim.

Joey Cohen, Vice President of Racing Operations, is anticipating a successful season for the Club as it takes to the track under the Toyota banner and believes Heim and Bayne will be a huge component to that success.

“With the parity of the race vehicles, NASCAR NextGen competition has placed a huge emphasis on the driver and their abilities to extract performance. Corey and Trevor are critical components to ensure our drivers have the best data and tools to execute and deliver results at the racetrack for LEGACY M.C. Toyota Racing also provides excellent resources to support this program and we are excited to see the results it can produce this season,” said Cohen.

The NASCAR Cup Series will hold its first event of the year, The Clash, this Sunday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The series will pause a week for Superbowl LVII and resume its regular season with the opening event – the 66th running of the DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Feb. 18th. No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 Team Set to Tackle the Rolex 24 At Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (January 25, 2024) – Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Global (WTRAndretti) enters the Rolex 24 At Daytona for the first time with a full-time GTD entry. The No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 will start fourth for its’ debut in the sportscar classic. Full time co-driver Kyle Marcelli handled the qualifying duties at the Roar Before the 24 last weekend with co-drivers Danny Formal, Graham Doyle and Ashton Harrison also all getting comfortable behind the wheel throughout the test sessions.

Preparations for the Rolex 24 At Daytona begin with practice on Thursday, January 25th at 10:05 a.m. ET. The field will see the green flag fly for the iconic 24-hour event at 1:40 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 27th with IMSA radio and NBC’s family of networks (NBC, USA Network, Peacock) providing flag-to-flag coverage of the racing action.

Wayne Taylor, Team Principal, WTRAndretti: “Well, it is exciting for us to now be in GTD in a professional way through Lamborghini’s support to WTRAndretti, and also DEX Imaging, Harrison Contracting Company and Gainbridge coming on board as big partners with us. I think we have a strong package. It is the debut race for Graham Doyle, 17 years old. All he has done is a year of Lamborghini Super Trofeo where he did very well. We have our two lead drivers, Kyle Marcelli and Danny Formal, who will do the full season, as well as Ashton Harrison who has been driving for us for several years and won championships. It is nice to have someone else in the race in a different class. It is very new to me, and I think it is great as we can all learn together, both on the GTD and GTP side as we have a lot of cross over between mechanics and engineers. It all just makes our program all that stronger.”

No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2
Kyle Marcelli, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “We checked a lot of boxes during the two-day Roar Before the 24 test. There were a number of new car challenges to sort through but I’m very pleased with how we concluded the event. The Rolex 24 Hour At Daytona is now raced like a 24-hour sprint race! It’s flat out from the drop of the green flag. That said, the car needs to be in perfect condition for the last two hours. So, driving fast but more importantly smart is the key for the first twenty-two hours. GTD is now more competitive than ever. In my opinion, every car on the grid could win the race. It will be interesting and exciting!”

Danny Formal, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “Well, the Roar Before the 24 is done. An amazing weekend with an amazing car and crew. So grateful for this opportunity to be part of WTRAndretti, DEX Imaging, Lamborghini, everyone is just working so hard for us and trying to make us have a great Rolex 24. All the team that you know laps at night, did our pitstops, we work through everything. GTD is extremely competitive right now. There are 36 cars counting GTD PRO, so it’s just incredible how the growth of the class has just become one of the biggest classes in IMSA. We are ready. Kyle did a fantastic lap and put us P4 starting this week. Super excited, motivated and ready to try to win, try to fight for a nice big Rolex at the end of the race.””

Graham Doyle, 2024 Endurance Co-Driver: “During the two-day Roar Before the 24 test, I believe we truly made strides towards creating the best possible car for the Rolex 24 this coming weekend. As a team, I believe we work through some of the bugs and have found ourselves a very competitive strong car that is ready to take on the challenge of the race. The 24 Hours of Daytona is a race like none other. Instead of being a true long endurance race, I believe it should be considered a 24-hour sprint race because as we know it is flat out from start to finish. But you need to keep the car in one piece to truly compete. As a team, I believe we are ready to take on this challenge, and I think next weekend will be able to show how much we are capable of.”

Ashton Harrison, 2024 Rolex 24 Co-Driver: “The first race of 2024 is here. The entire WTRAndretti team did an incredible job giving us a fast Lamborghini at the Roar and into Qualifying. Really proud of the lap Kyle laid down to give us a great starting position for this ‘sprint’ race. Looking at the qualifying times just shows how competitive and strong this GTD class is and proves that every team has the capabilities to be up front. I’m excited to be attempting my second Rolex with WTRAndretti and with the boys. We’ll give it our absolute best and be prepared for anything with the overall goal of winning a Daytona Rolex.”

ABOUT WTRANDRETTI
Andretti Global and Wayne Taylor Racing announced a new, long-term partnership in 2023 that combines the resources of the two championship-caliber teams to compete in IMSA’s top classes. In 2024, Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (WTRAndretti) has expanded to a two-car GTP program as well as competes in the GTD class. Coming off its 2023 championship winning effort, WTRAndretti continues its Driver Development Program competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series with a full stable.

WTRAndretti’s global motorsports enterprise boasts two IMSA driver championships (2013 and 2017), and back-to-back IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Championships (2020, 2021) which contributed to nine IMSA manufacturer championships for Acura, Pontiac, Corvette and Cadillac. In its brief 17-year history, WTRAndretti has accumulated multiple victories in sportscar racing’s most iconic events: Rolex 24 At Daytona, Twelve Hours of Sebring, Petit Le Mans, Mid-Ohio, Road America and the Six Hours of The Glen. With its back-to-back PRO Class Championship wins (2022, 2023), WTR also has ten North America Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship titles and a Lamborghini World Finals title.

Andretti Global, a Championship-winning motorsports organization, competes in additional racing categories worldwide, including the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Extreme E, Australian Supercars and the Mexico SuperCopa Championship. Additionally, the racing enterprise commits to driver development through competition in INDY NXT by Firestone and through support of Sebastian and Oliver Wheldon’s racing careers.

WTRAndretti’s long term partnerships include Lamborghini Squadra Corse, DEX Imaging, Harrison Contracting Company and Gainbridge.

WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 GTP Teams Ready to Fight for Rolex 24 At Daytona Honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (January 25, 2024) – As a newly expanded two-car GTP effort, Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Global (WTRAndretti) stable of the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 and No. 40 DEX Imaging Acura ARX-06 teams are determined to fight to the front for Rolex 24 At Daytona honors. Over the course of the history of WTRAndretti, the team carries four Rolex 24 At Daytona titles (2017, 2019, 2020, 2021) and Team Principal Wayne Taylor boosts two Rolex 24 At Daytona wins as a driver (1996, 1998). As a factory Acura team, WTRAndretti is focused on delivering Acura their fourth-consecutive Rolex 24 victory as a manufacturer at Daytona International Speedway.

For the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 team, it’s the hunt for redemption after back-to-back podiums at the 24-hour endurance classic. Filipe Albuquerque controlled the No. 10 machine in qualifying to land sixth on the grid. Inside the cockpit of the blue and black No. 10 are two-time Rolex 24 At Daytona Champions Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque, reigning World Endurance Championship Hypercar Champion, Brendon Hartley, and 2022 Indianapolis 500 Champion, Marcus Ericsson. In the red and black No. 40 DEX Imaging Acura ARX-06, Louis Delétraz utilized his previous Acura ARX-06 experience and piloted the No. 40 to start fifth for the twice-round-the-clock event. Piloting the new No. 40 for WTRAndretti features three-time Rolex 24 At Daytona winner, Jordan Taylor, World Endurance Championship LMP2 Champion, Louis Delétraz, two-time winner at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Colton Herta, and Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button. With a competitive field and developed second year of the GTP, both WTRAndretti teams will need to keep their noses clean to reach the podium.

On-track action for the 24-hour event will begin on Thursday, January at 10:05 a.m. ET as the WTRAndretti crew and drivers will have four separate practice sessions to fine tune all preparations. The 62nd Running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona will see the green flag fly at 1:40 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 27th while IMSA Radio and NBC’s family of networks (NBC, USA Network, Peacock) will broadcast flag-to-flag coverage of the event.

Wayne Taylor, Team Principal, WTRAndretti: “First of all, we are focused on winning the race. Having said that, we are at a bit of a disadvantage based on the current BOP. You know, everyone has this kind of thing happen to them periodically, so all we have to do is to make sure we execute and do everything else perfectly. That involves remaining on the lead lap until Sunday, save our good tires for the end of the race, and hopefully, at that point, we can start picking up our pace knowing we might have more tires. Getting on the podium would be great. Winning is what we are here for. But I have to be realistic. Based on what I have seen over practice at the Roar, the Cadillacs will be very hard to beat. They are carrying 40 kilos less than us, so I’m not sure exactly how you overcome that. But you know what, we have a great team, great drivers, and great partners in Acura, HRC, Konica Minolta and DEX Imaging. As usual, I am always excited to start the 24-hour.”

No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 GTP Drivers
Ricky Taylor, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “The Roar was great to get all of the drivers through. We are putting a lot of work into how each driver feels in the car and treats tires, as we have less tires than in the past, so double stints will be quite key. The race always comes down to a sprint to the finish so staying diligent and patient throughout the 24 hours to be there to fight is our main focus.”

Filipe Albuquerque, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “So the Roar went really pretty well. I mean we obviously wanted to have qualified a little bit ahead, but the race is completely different story. We learned a lot about the car. We continue learning about the car. Now we’re going to be focusing more in the into our race situation set up. Really the starting point doesn’t mean where it ends. So, we know that we have a good car. Still, it will be on the topic to have a clean race. Obviously to win you first finish it and because it’s the second year of the GTP car doesn’t mean that every team is away from reliability, so we need to keep avoiding incidents with the other cars, have a reliable car and be fighting for the last hour with a nice intact car. And that’s a long way, that’s a good 23 hours to go then we need to survive a lot of things. So, all in all we need to as a team be happy with the car balance, as the drivers we believe we are doing a good job on that so let’s wait and see how it comes to last preparations for it. You don’t need to be the fastest to win this race, you need to be the most consistent.”

Brendon Hartley, 2024 Endurance Co-Driver: “Filipe, Louis and the whole WTRAndretti team extracted the most out of the car in qualifying, so it does look like we are slightly behind on performance right now. The good news is everyone is working very hard, and we have four more free practice sessions to work on the race car where we will see very different track conditions to the Roar. Acura and WTRAndretti knows well how to win this race and we are currently in full prep mode. Tire management in the hot track temps will be crucial as well as strategy and keeping it clean for 24 hours. Competition is huge this year and presume it will be a flat-out race for 24 hours so all above of what I mentioned will not be straight forward. We feel ready.”

Marcus Ericsson, 2024 Rolex 24 Co-Driver: “We had a really smooth Roar weekend. We got through the program; learned a lot about the tires, the cars, and in the end had a good qualifying. We qualified fifth and sixth, of course we always want more, but the whole WTRAndretti team did a really good job the whole. We are prepared going into the big race this weekend. We have a few more sessions to get the final preparations done. A great team effort so far and really looking forward to go racing on Saturday and Sunday.”

No. 40 DEX Imaging Acura ARX-06 GTP Drivers
Louis Delétraz, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “I’m very excited to get into the Rolex 24 week. The Roar has been positive, we did a lot of work with WTRAndretti, Acura and HRC. The fact that we have two cars now is great. I love working together as a team. We enter the 24-hour very humble; I think that’s how you have to approach it. Taking it step-by-step, it’s a long race. You need to stay out of trouble and move our way forward until the last few hours and be ready for the fight. Obviously, we all want to win and aim for the Rolex. It will not be easy, and we will have to prove it.”

Jordan Taylor, 2024 Full Season Co-Driver: “We’re excited for the race week. We had a good Roar test, went through everything we needed to. Temperatures look a lot different this week, so I think need to use the practice sessions to understand where the car with the different tire options we have. I think that all eight drivers got through the car at the Roar, that was one of the biggest things we needed to get through. Now everyone seems comfortable, and we can use this week to fine tune the car now that we’ve checked off some big items. We’ll practice some driver change, go through the motions of pit stops and make sure everyone is ready to go for 24 hours.”

Colton Herta, 2024 Endurance Co-Driver: “It’s exciting getting into the race weekend with WTRAndretti. I think we learned a lot from the Roar. Louis put us in a really good starting spot with fifth place and something we can work off of. Now, it’s about keeping the car clean, trying to do our best and get through this race and hopefully come out on top.”

Jenson Button, 2024 Rolex 24 Co-Driver: “We learned from the Roar that it’s very competitive, every manufacturer is competitive in their own way and producing relatively similar lap times. Now, after qualifying it’s time to focus on race pace and really focus in on consistency, which I’m looking forward too. I think the WTRAndretti team has grown a lot over the Roar weekend, having a two-car team is no joke and they’ve done a great job preparing us for the race weekend – all eight drivers. 24 hours does feel like a sprint but at the same time, you need to remember that you have to look after the car. It’s very easy to forget that you need to be there to win it at the end when you’re on track because the adrenaline is high, you’re racing hard, but sometimes you need to take a step back. It’s finding that balance. It’s making sure that we’re prepared as a team, that we understand the goals. I can’t wait for my first Rolex 24 At Daytona and what a team to be doing it with!”
