“Reuniting with Front Row Motorsports, Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 team is a great opportunity to showcase the durability of our CITGARD® heavy duty engine oil,” said Mike Curtis, CITGO General Manager, Lubricants. “Todd and his team continue making waves in the NASCAR Cup Series and CITGARD® is the perfect product to support another successful season.”

“It’s awesome to have CITGARD® return to Front Row Motorsports this season,” said Gilliland. “We need a reliable, heavy duty engine lubricant when traveling thousands of miles from track to track and CITGARD is just that —reliable. LEGACY MOTOR CLUB™ IN ASSOCIATION WITH JIMMIE JOHNSON joins Extreme E to complete Season 4 line-up

12 February 2024, London: Pioneering racing series Extreme E is thrilled to welcome LEGACY MOTOR CLUB (LEGACY M.C.) IN ASSOCIATION WITH JIMMIE JOHNSON to its championship line-up for Season 4. The American outfit completes the grid for the 2024 campaign, which begins this weekend in Saudi Arabia (17-18 February).

Led by seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, LEGACY M.C. will make its Extreme E debut boasting an all-US line-up and plenty of off-road racing pedigree.

With Johnson unable to contest the opening two rounds of the campaign at the first event due to a clash with the Daytona 500, US compatriots Travis Pastrana and Gray Leadbetter will be behind the wheel in the LEGACY M.C. ODYSSEY 21 for the upcoming Desert X Prix.

Jimmie Johnson, LEGACY M.C. co-owner who will compete in the series after the Desert X Prix, said: “The opportunity for LEGACY M.C. to field an off-road vehicle in the Extreme E championship is exciting in many ways. We are essentially representing America in this unique and very competitive series and we are committed to the challenge. I’m excited to watch our LEGACY MOTOR CLUB colours race on foreign soil for the first time while I’m in Daytona for the Great American race. I know Travis and Gray will represent us well and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish.

“Our goal is to learn as much as we can and see what the future might bring. The fact this series competes globally and focuses on sustainably, inclusion and equality really piques our interest. From a technical standpoint the changeover to hydrogen in 2025 is really intriguing and the entire motorsports community is watching closely. Personally for me as a driver, going back to my off-road roots and to the type of racing I started my career with is going to be a blast.”

Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Extreme E, said: “It is fantastic for Extreme E to welcome Jimmie Johnson and LEGACY M.C. to the championship. Jimmie’s credentials speak for themselves, and we cannot wait to see him behind the wheel of the ODYSSEY 21.

“Jimmie is a proven winner and adds to our already healthy list of champions competing in the series. Racing in Extreme E with his own team is something which excited him, and it is great that Jimmie is also looking towards the future and our transition to Extreme H – the world’s first off-road hydrogen-powered racing series – next year.”

“We are sure that for the Desert X Prix that Travis Pastrana and Gray Leadbetter will be competing up at the front of the field, demonstrating the US’ prowess for exciting off-road racing. It is great to have further US involvement in the championship, especially with our first-ever North American event to end the season in Phoenix, Arizona.”

Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme E, said: “Welcoming Jimmie Johnson and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB into our championship for Season 4 is a huge coup. We are thrilled that the LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has joined Extreme E and we wish them the very best for the campaign ahead.

“Jimmie knows what it takes to win and he has done it all throughout his career, so we look forward to seeing him and his team mix it with the very best in Extreme E. Travis Pastrana and Gray Leadbetter make an exciting combination for the first event in Saudi Arabia before Jimmie gets behind the wheel as they fly the flag for the United States.

“North America is such a key market for our championship, so to make our debut in the US later this year in Phoenix for the 2024 finale, with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB on the grid, will be extra special.”

For the Desert X Prix, both Pastrana and Leadbetter will make their Extreme E debuts.

Leadbetter, 19 from Morganton, NC, started driving in the Championship Off-Road series in 2019 and was the first woman to win a US Pro Class Championship in the Championship Off-Road closed-course series, winning four races overall to take the crown.

In December 2020, she was the first woman and youngest competitor to win a Sportsman SXS race. She started competing in arenacross when she was five years old.

On joining LEGACY M.C. for the 2024 season, Leadbetter said: “I’m super excited and thankful for this opportunity.

“I’ve always been interested in Extreme E, but just never found the right opportunity to step foot in it. When Travis texted me last week that there might be a chance to race with Jimmie Johnson and LEGACY M.C., I couldn’t have been more thrilled. I’ve never driven these cars so it’s sure to be an adventure, but I will be in great company. This is a dream come true.”

Pastrana, from Annapolis, MD, is a true motorsports legend. He combines the accolades of a three-time motocross champion and a multi-disciplinary X Games gold medalist with a versatile and high-profile racing career, including a standout performance against Johnson in the thrilling 2023 DAYTONA 500. Throughout his remarkable career, he has claimed victory at the highest levels of competition. Pastrana has clinched seven championships across supercross, motocross, and rally racing, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility in the world of motorsports.

Ahead of his Extreme E and LEGACY M.C. debut, Pastrana said: “This all came together pretty quick, but I’m really excited!

“I have quite a bit of experience in electric vehicles, although I’ve never been in an Extreme E ODYSSEY 21 before. I compete in a lot of off-road events and some desert stuff – mostly on two wheels – but this should be really fun for us. I believe in Jimmie Johnson and in LEGACY M.C. and all he is doing with the Club, so when he asked me it was a no-brainer.

“I’ve worked with Gray before and she is a huge talent, so overall it is just a great opportunity for both of us to compete in this championship series together. She’s the top female young up-and-coming talent in Nitrocross and has the speed.

“So hopefully as Americans, we will do our country proud and return home with a win and some smiles on our faces.”

And Pastrana has eyes on a rival already in the series who he is excited to do battle with out on track once again.

Pastrana added in jest: “I’ve never beaten Mattias [Ekström] at anything, and before he retires I want to beat him at something! With that in mind, I guess my two biggest reasons for participating in this event is to help out my friend Jimmie, and, for the first time in my life, beat Mattias.”

You can find out how LEGACY M.C. fare in their Extreme E debut when the 2024 campaign gets underway in Saudi Arabia this weekend (17-18 February).

Jak Crawford Joins Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team

Houston, Texas, USA (12 February 2024) – On February 12, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team of Silverstone, England announced 18 year old, USA-driver Jak Crawford as the Aston Martin Young Driver. The F1 driver development deal comes on the heels of Crawford landing a new FIA F2 contract for 2024 with DAMS, the exclusive F2 racing team based near LeMans, France.

“Jak had a very productive four years being contracted to Red Bull, and we saw this move to Aston Martin as a way to put Jak into an intimate F1 driver development role,” said Rick Gorne, Crawford’s UK based motorsports consultant. “We believe that the road to F1 is evolving. We wanted smart, purposeful driver development with significant car opportunities and that is what Aston Martin will deliver for Jak.”

The program will establish, not only, a work environment for Crawford in the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One simulator, but also, critically, will provide the young charger with Testing of Previous F1 Car time, as well as multiple current F1 car sessions over a two-year period. Crawford’s role in the team will be varied including serving as a brand ambassador, as well as a reserve and sim driver.

“Jak made a very positive impression with his extensive work in the 2023 F1 simulator for Red Bull, and that was an important building block for this agreement,” said Gorne. “Jak has built up an accomplished reputation on F1 sim machinery as a very fast, consistent driver with exceptional feedback for car development. This experience has become a valuable part of Jak’s resume and plays a part in his new role. However, the first priority will always be on Jak’s F2 season.”

Crawford has recently completed his first year in FIA F2 with Hitech GP. In racing, a season is best judged by comparing teammate-to-teammate. In the case of Crawford in 2023, he won in every category: season ending championship order, head-to-head qualifying positions, race pace, points-paying wins, podiums, and poles.

“Jak has pure pace talent in any sim or car,” said Gorne. “There were only seven pole position drivers in F2 in 2023. Six of the drivers were in the top four championship finishing teams, and those drivers were in the top six finishing positions. Jak was the only other pole man.” Gorne continues, “It is a spec series, but we all know the teams are not equal. Considering this, Jak was an outstanding rookie in 2023 in our estimation.”

FIA F2 staged the traditional 2023 end of season test in late November. Crawford’s three-day test with his new DAMS team provided great hope for the 2024 season. The qualifying pace was evident and the race pace was even better. For 2024, Crawford will focus on second year consistency while attacking the F2 Championship.

New sponsors will be announced before the season begins. Combined with the new Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team announcement, the future looks bright for Jak Crawford.

Young’s Motorsports Tabs Mason Massey for Full-Time Truck Series Effort in 2024

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: (February 12, 2024): Young’s Motorsports confirmed today the signing of Douglasville, Ga. native Mason Massey as the driver of the team’s flagship NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series No. 02 entry for the entire 2024 season beginning with Friday night’s Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Massey has over 20 years of experience behind the wheel, launching his racing career at age five. Since then, he has garnered more than 200 feature wins, 11 championships, and 10 track records across multiple series, including the US Legends Pro National Championship.

Amongst the many Late Model victories to Massey’s credit during his tenure in the Bill Elliott Racing Development Program is the 2012 triumph in the Alabama 200. He eventually graduated to NASCAR in 2019, competing in the Truck Series before advancing to the Xfinity Series in 2020.

After part-time Xfinity stints in 2020 and 2021, respectively, the Georgian captured the attention of many with an impressive sixth-place finish in the spring 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series contest at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway in front of the hometown crowd.

With 32 more NASCAR starts to his resume since his first career NASCAR top-10 effort, Massey has landed with Young’s Motorsports, a longtime fixture in the Truck Series, hoping to impress and land the organization back in Victory Lane.

Longtime anchor Massey partners BRUNT Workwear and Anderson Power Services will serve as primary partners on the team’s No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST throughout the 23-race campaign.

“I couldn’t be more excited to go full-time racing with Tyler and everyone at Young’s Motorsports,” said Massey. “I see the work ethic in all the guys and how much they want it.

“I knew this was definitely something I wanted to be a part of. I also look forward to bringing BRUNT

Workwear and Anderson Power Services on board this year. We’re ready to kick the season off strong in Daytona on Friday night!”

Executives from both of Massey’s anchor partners echoed their driver’s sentiment.

BRUNT Workwear founder and CEO Eric Girouard commented, “We’re excited to be back for our fourth year supporting Mason and expanding our NASCAR program. Our company’s story and Mason’s story are very similar. From humble beginnings and blue-collar roots, we are building and growing together.

“Our group is pumped for the opportunity Mason has to compete full-time in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with Young’s Motorsports. We believe that our brand lines up perfectly with not only Mason but also with Young’s Motorsports’ hard-working values.”

Added, Alex Field, vice president of operations for Anderson Power Services, “Anderson Power Services is super happy and grateful to continue to support and be a part of Mason Massey’s career. We have been a very proud partner since 2019 and look forward to the current racing year. We look forward to the years when we will be in a Cup Series race car and be side by side with Mason for the years to come.”

Massey, 27, will make his second consecutive Truck Series start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway of Daytona on February 16. Last year, Massey steered to a respectable and lead lap 24th place finish for Reaume Brothers Racing in a race that was shortened by inclement weather.

“Even though it was rain-shortened, I think getting a feel for drafting in the trucks was beneficial,” continued Massey. “Youngs Motorsports has a good track record on superspeedways, including two wins. I hope to keep that going and get a strong start to the 2024 season.”

For Young’s Motorsports team principal Tyler Young, the opportunity to welcome Massey brings a reenergized atmosphere to the family-owned organization.

“I’m really excited to have Mason full-time with our team this year,” added Young. “He has proven he’s the man for the job. We are working hard to make it a great year, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Massey is the second full-time driver announced by Young’s Motorsports in 2024. Last month, the organization announced the launch of its NASCAR Xfinity Series program with Rookie of the Year candidate Leland Honeyman Jr. behind the wheel of their No. 42 Chevrolet Camaros, beginning with Saturday afternoon’s United Rentals 300.

Faction46 to Debut at World Center of Racing

Thad Moffitt Ready for Daytona Return

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (FEBRUARY 12, 2024) — Faction46 will make their NASCAR debut this week at the World Center of Racing, the Daytona International Speedway. Behind the wheel, Thad Moffitt will pilot the No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado. Customers Bank will be the primary sponsor of the team in its much-anticipated beginning led by crew chief Doug George.

Faction46 is owned by Lane Moore, owner of Venture Food Stores, and has an alliance with Niece Motorsports. Moffitt said the team has worked hard in what has been a busy offseason putting the team together.

“We just introduced this team in December and now it’s time to go race,” said Moffitt. “It is a little bit crazy to think how far we have come in such a short time. We could not have done it without Doug’s leadership and the support of Niece Motorsports and our alliance. Starting a new team is not easy, but we had a great foundation, and everyone has done their part to build a fast Silverado for Daytona.”

There is no better track for Faction46 to turn its first laps. Moffitt has three starts at the track in the ARCA Series and one previous start in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Moffitt has a best start of second and finish of fifth in the ARCA Series and an 18th-place result in the truck series at Daytona.

“It may sound weird to some, but this really is a track that I’m the most comfortable at,” continued Moffitt. “I grew up here watching my grandfather (“The King” Richard Petty) and my uncle (Kyle Petty) and the rest of my family racing here. It’s just my DNA to be racing at Daytona in February. It feels good to make our debut here and start making our mark in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.”

Moffitt and Faction46 will have plenty of support this week in Florida. With Customers Bank on the hood and sides, the team will also be sponsored by Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen, Pristine Auction, Joe Jurgielewicz and Son – America’s Tastiest Duck, Induction Innovations, and Best Working Wipes.

Importance of Composition and Photo Editing in Motorsport Photography

Motorsport photography is not just about capturing fast cars and thrilling moments; it’s about telling a story, conveying emotion, and capturing the essence of speed and excitement. Composition and photo editing play crucial roles in achieving these objectives.

Composition is the foundation of any great photograph. It determines how the elements within the frame are arranged and how they interact with each other to create a visually appealing and compelling image. In motorsport photography, effective composition can capture the drama of the race, convey the intensity of the action, and immerse the viewer in the excitement of the moment.

Photo editing, on the other hand, allows photographers to enhance and refine their images, bringing out the details, colors, and textures that may not be immediately apparent in the raw capture. From adjusting exposure and contrast to fine-tuning colors and applying creative effects, photo editing enables photographers to elevate their images and create impactful visual narratives. If you need to resize your photographs, you can use a photo size converter to get the right size for your project.

So let’s dive in and unlock the secrets to creating stunning motorsport photographs!

II. Understanding Composition in Motorsport Photography

In this part, we’ll talk about why composition matters in motor racing photos and give you a quick look at some important composition techniques. Let’s get started!

A. Significance of composition in conveying the dynamics and emotion of motor motorsport photography

When you look at a photo, how the elements are arranged within the frame can make a big difference in how it feels. In motor racing photography, composition is like the secret ingredient that adds depth and excitement to your images. It’s what helps you capture the fast-paced action and the thrill of the race in a way that really grabs people’s attention. Without good composition, your photos might look flat or boring, and you might not be able to convey the excitement and energy of the moment.

B. Key Compositional Techniques:

  • Rule of Thirds
  • Divide your frame into thirds horizontally and vertically, then place important elements along these lines or at their intersections. This creates a balanced and visually appealing composition.
  • Leading Lines
  • Use natural or man-made lines, such as the curves of the track or barriers, to guide the viewer’s eye towards the focal point of your image, adding a sense of movement and direction.
  • Foreground Interest
  • Incorporate objects in the foreground, like barriers or spectators, to add depth and context to your photos, creating a sense of immersion and scale.
  • Framing the Action
  • Position yourself to capture the racing action within the frame, using elements like trackside barriers or other cars to frame the main subject and draw attention to the dynamic movement.
  • Negative Space
  • Sometimes, what you leave out of a photo is just as important as what you include. Using negative space, such as empty areas of the track or sky, can help emphasize the subject and evoke a sense of openness or isolation.

Applying Composition Techniques on the Track

Here, we’ll give you practical tips for applying composition techniques during motorsport events. From observing the racing environment to experimenting with angles, we’ll help you capture the action effectively. Let’s get started!

Observing the Racing Environment:

  • Take some time to observe the racing environment before you start shooting. Look for interesting features, like corners, straightaways, or elevation changes, that can add drama to your photos.
  • Pay attention to the lighting conditions and how they change throughout the day. The angle and quality of light can have a big impact on the mood and atmosphere of your photos.

Identifying Key Moments and Vantage Points:

  • Anticipate the action and look for key moments, such as overtaking maneuvers or dramatic crashes, that you want to capture.
  • Scout out different vantage points around the track to find the best angles for your shots. Consider factors like elevation, proximity to the action, and background elements that can enhance your composition.

Anticipating Movement and Positioning:

  • Motorsport photography is all about capturing fast-moving subjects, so it’s important to anticipate the movement of the cars and position yourself accordingly.
  • Try to predict where the cars will be at certain points on the track and be ready to capture the action as it unfolds. This might mean panning with the cars as they race past or setting up at a strategic corner where you know there will be lots of overtaking opportunities.

Experimenting with Angles and Perspectives:

  • Don’t be afraid to get creative with your angles and perspectives. Experiment with different camera positions, heights, and focal lengths to find unique and interesting compositions.
  • Consider shooting from low angles to emphasize the speed and power of the cars, or try shooting from above to capture the full scope of the racing action.

Photo Editing for Motorsport Photography

In this section, we’ll walk you through the basics of RAW processing and these essential adjustments, so you can start enhancing and refining your motorsport images with confidence. Let’s dive in!

  1. Role of Photo Editing in Enhancing and Refining Motorsport Photography

Photo editing is like adding the final touches to your masterpiece. It’s where you can enhance the colors, fix any imperfections, and really make your photos pop. In motorsport photography, editing plays a crucial role in bringing out the intensity and excitement of the race, making your images stand out from the crowd.

  1. RAW Processing and Basic Adjustments:
  • Exposure Adjustment
  • RAW processing allows you to fine-tune the exposure of your photos, ensuring that the brightness and darkness levels are just right. Whether it’s brightening up a dark corner of the track or toning down an overexposed sky, exposure adjustment helps you achieve the perfect balance.
  • Contrast Enhancement
  • Adding contrast to your photos can make them look more dynamic and engaging. By adjusting the contrast levels, you can make the colors pop and add depth to your images, creating a more visually appealing result.
  • Color Balance Correction
  • Sometimes, the colors in your photos might not look quite right straight out of the camera. That’s where color correction services come in. Whether it’s adjusting the white balance to remove a color cast or fine-tuning the saturation levels to make the colors more vibrant, color balance correction helps you achieve accurate and lifelike colors in your photos.

Advanced Photo Editing Techniques

In this section, we’ll delve into these advanced photo editing techniques, empowering you to elevate your motorsport images with precision and creativity. Let’s unlock the full potential of your editing skills!

A. Selective Editing:

  1. Utilize adjustment brushes or masks to target specific areas of your photo for editing, allowing you to emphasize key elements such as cars or track features while preserving the rest of the image.
  2. Enhance the impact of your photos by selectively emphasizing important details, adding clarity, or adjusting contrast to make them stand out.

B. Dynamic Range Enhancement:

  1. Merge multiple exposures using HDR (High Dynamic Range) techniques to capture a wider range of light and detail, particularly useful for scenes with high contrast or challenging lighting conditions.
  2. Blend exposures to achieve a balanced exposure across the entire image, ensuring that both highlights and shadows are properly exposed for a more natural and visually appealing result.

C. Creative Effects:

  1. Add vignetting to draw attention to the center of the frame, creating a sense of depth and focus on the main subject.
  2. Apply selective color adjustments to enhance or modify specific colors in your photo, allowing you to create a more dramatic or stylized look.
  3. Introduce motion blur to convey a sense of speed and movement, adding dynamism and energy to your motorsport images.

Fine-Tuning and Final Touches

In this section, we’ll guide you through the process of fine-tuning your motorsport images and adding those final touches that will elevate them to the next level of professionalism and impact. Let’s put the finishing touches on your masterpiece!

A. Sharpening and Noise Reduction:

  1. Enhance the clarity and detail of your motorsport images through sharpening techniques, ensuring that key elements like cars and track features stand out with crispness and precision.
  2. Minimize digital noise, especially in low-light or high-ISO images, to maintain image quality and clarity, creating smoother and more professional-looking results.

B. Final Adjustments to Composition, Color Balance, and Contrast:

Fine-tune the composition, color balance, and contrast of your photos to ensure they are visually balanced and cohesive. Make subtle adjustments to enhance the overall look and feel of the image, ensuring that every element contributes to the impact and storytelling of the photograph.

C. Maintaining Authenticity while Enhancing Visual Impact:

Strike a balance between enhancing the visual impact of your photos and maintaining the authenticity of the racing experience. While editing can enhance the drama and intensity of the race, it’s important to ensure that the final result still feels true to the spirit of motorsport.

RJ Hampshire Takes 250SX Class Win

Glendale, Ariz., (February 11, 2024) Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen grabbed the Holeshot and never looked back, taking the win at Round 6 and becoming the fifth different rider to win in the 17-round 2024 Monster Energy Supercross season. It was Roczen’s third win inside State Farm Stadium and the 55,627 fans, a record for the series at the Glendale venue, went wild for the popular racer.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson took over second place just over two minutes into the 20-minute plus one lap Main Event and was never seriously challenged for the spot. Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence fought hard from outside the top ten. He made up time on the slick track and nabbed the final podium position, and with it the lead in the championship points. In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s RJ Hampshire took the victory, becoming the first repeat winner of 2024 in the 250SX class.

“I haven’t won much in the recent years so I take these moments in so much… My start was really good. I got a super good jump. I may have shut the throttle off a little bit too early, so I almost got swallowed up there. But I had the inside and as I went around the first turn I’m like, ‘This is what I need’… The track was really tricky, it just got so slippery. I made so many micro-decisions on the track in certain areas that I picked out; as I ran through some of the first few laps I just noticed some of the key spots that are really tricky and can really bite you. So I just managed the race the whole way… I tried to not look at the time, I just clicked my laps, lap after lap. My Progressive ECSTAR Suzuki was working flawless out here today. I haven’t done many changes at all and it shows. You know, I’ve got to give it up to my whole team, my crew behind me, Peyton at home, my family, Griffin this is for you. I’ve been telling him the whole time I’m going to bring some trophies home, and especially wins, so I finally did it and this is an unbelievable moment for us.” – Ken Roczen

“Oh 100% [I’m happy with a podium]. I’m really excited to walk out here with second. But at the end of the day I felt like I left a little on the table. I started riding tight there for a second, but, with how gnarly our class is, it’s pretty cool to be up here… Honestly this is one of my home races so everyone from the 505 out here, thanks for showing up and supporting.”.” – Jason Anderson

“[I] didn’t give myself the best opportunity to go on for a win today with just getting a terrible start. But it was cool to climb my way through. It was a cool accomplishment to catch and pass Eli… So it was a cool accomplishment and just happy I was able to fight back to a podium position. [The] front boys they were gone… so especially going similar speeds here you can’t catch up, you can’t give ‘em that extra gap… It was a good finish to get third, especially with how it started.” – Jett Lawrence

After one week off, the Western Regional 250SX Class racers were back on the track for Round 5 of their regional championship. Hampshire took the win after clawing his way up from a fifth-place start. Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen led early but finished the race in second. Team Honda HRC’s Jo Shimoda took third, earning his first podium ride of 2024. The top three riders in the Western Regional 250SX Class, Kitchen, Hampshire, and Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith are now separated by only five points.

“[It was] a really tough day. Man, I had that case [coming up short on the track’s large double jump in the] first timed practice. Man, that hurt me quite a bit. [I’m] getting up there in age so those don’t go by so fast… [In the] main event, got a decent start, made those passes quick. And [then] just kinda rode my own race… You know [my win at] A1 was so easy, and then, you know, you have some bad luck… Man, we work hard and it’s awesome to repay this whole Austrian team with another win. We get six weeks off now [for the west coast 250SX Class] so I get to recover a bit, but yeah, so stoked! Thank you! Arizona was awesome to me, ready to go back home.” – RJ Hampshire

“[Regarding Jordon Smith jumping into Levi while the ‘do not jump’ lights were flashing] I don’t know. Like, that’s a bad situation. I feel really bad, I’m glad Smitty’s okay. But yeah, you come around and they’re blinking. I didn’t know if I could jump on, and he jumped on behind me and we hit. Luckily we’re both okay… That’s a weird thing with the lights and everything. I just didn’t want to be in the wrong, and get docked. Glad I’m healthy, glad he’s healthy, and yeah, stoked to go into this long break with the red plate, obviously.” – Levi Kitchen

“We’ve been working hard in the weekends with the team but the results sometimes [are] not showing… The main event [podium], I kinda got gifted, I guess, but [it’s] some kind of way to start my groove again… I missed the feeling [of being up here on the podium].” – Jo Shimoda

BRADENTON, Florida (February 10, 2024) – Austin Prock, driver of the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, raced to the inaugural 2024 PRO Superstar Shootout victory over 2023 NHRA Funny Car World Champion Matt Hagan with his pass of 3.845-second E.T. at 332.43 mph to Hagan’s 3.872-second E.T. at 329.75 mph.

Claiming the $250,000 prize and bragging rights, Prock showcased his Funny Car piloting prowess in his class debut this weekend after taking over driving duties for teammate Robert Hight in the offseason. Taking John Force Racing and Chevrolet to the winner’s circle, the team now shift their sights to kicking off the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season in Gainesville, Fla. March 8-10, 2024.

“I don’t even know if I will be able to put this into words until tomorrow morning,” continued Prock. “It still hasn’t hit me; it’s surreal that I’m even driving a Funny Car right now. I’ve got my grandfather’s 374, his number when he drove Funny Car, on this thing. We took it to the winner’s circle.”

Force, who was unfortunately forced to settle for an early day in semifinals, started the weekend strong qualifying provisional No. 2 Thursday with his pass of 3.849-second E.T. at 332.59 mph.
