TEAM CHEVY LOOKS TO CLOSE SIX-DECADE ERA OF BANDIMERE SPEEDWAY AT MILE-HIGH NATIONALS

ROBERT HIGHT LOOKS TO REPEAT 2022 SUCCESS FOR A BACK-TO-BACK WIN AT BANDIMERE

DETROIT (JULY 13, 2023) – Kicking off NHRA’s three-week Western Swing at Bandimere Speedway, the Chevrolet Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock teams head west to near Denver, Colorado for this weekend’s 2023 Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals.

With the Bowtie brand capturing a Top Fuel No. 1 qualifier (Brittany Force), a Funny Car victory (Robert Hight), and both a win (Matt Hartford) and No. 1 qualifier (Aaron Stanfield) in Pro Stock, Team Chevy looks to repeat victory, potentially sweeping the final race at Bandimere Speedway in its current location.

Celebrating the 65th year of racing at Bandimere, opening in 1958, Robert Hight, driver of the Cornwell Tools/AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for John Force Racing, reflected saying, “I’ve always loved the challenge of racing the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. I’m going to be sad to see it go but I’m looking forward to defending the win from last year and getting that last Wally at Bandimere.”

“I’m always excited to come race on the mountain,” said John Force, driver of the PEAK Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for John Force Racing. “I’ve been coming to Bandimere Speedway a long time. I have a lot of history here. I’ve accomplished a lot. Grown with the Bandimere family. (…) Bandimere has given us a lot of really great racing, we’ll try to make that the case again this weekend. I hope this PEAK Chevy team can celebrate one last time in the winner’s circle.”

“This is a race track I’ve been going to since I was a baby, reflected Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing. “I remember coming here with my sisters watching my dad race. Now to be up here on the mountain running, there’s just nothing like this racetrack. We’re really upset to see it go away but this team wants to end on a good note.”

“It’s hard to believe that this is the last time we will be heading to Bandimere Speedway,” reflected Erica Enders, driver of the Johnson’s Horsepower Garage Chevrolet Camaro SS Pro Stock car. “Visiting Denver has been a staple on our summer schedule since the mid-90’s when we were racing Junior Dragsters. The tradition continued through my entire sportsman and professional career. The Mountain is just flat out special. The Bandimere family has not only done so much for the sport, but have been so great on a personal level, to my family and I. We wish them nothing but the best as they venture out on their next journey. In the meantime, I would love nothing more than to win Denver, for my first time in Pro Stock, as the NHRA rolls into the gates for the last time. This one would be so meaningful and my guys and I will do everything in our power to leave Bandimere, Queen of the Mountain.”

Discussing the importance of momentum heading into the Western Swing, Hight notes that “Doing well this weekend will set the tone for this Cornwell Tools team through the whole Western Swing. We want that win, it’s the only way to set us up for a potential sweep. This weekend can get us set up for a strong finish through the end of the regular season.”

The 2023 Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals from Bandimere Speedway outside Denver, Colorado airs first with qualifying Friday, July 14, at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Saturday qualifying airs Sunday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. ET, with Sunday’s Finals following on FOX at 4 p.m. ET. Coverage streaming live throughout the weekend can be found through NHRA.tv, available via AppleTV, Android TV, and Roku devices.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:

Austin Prock, driver of the Rocky Mountain Twist / Montana Brands Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“I’m excited for the Western Swing and hitting the road with my Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team. I feel like we have a really strong package right now to where we can have a beneficial points performance the next three races. I’m hungry as ever for another Wally, I would love to get the win in Denver up on the mountain for the last NHRA race at Bandimere Speedway.”

Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“This Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac team heads to Denver next to begin our NHRA Western Swing which is my favorite part of the year. Unfortunately, Bandimere Speedway is closing, so it’s definitely bittersweet. This is a race track I’ve been going to since I was a baby. I remember coming here with my sisters watching my dad race. Now to be up here on the mountain running, there’s just nothing like this racetrack. We’re really upset to see it go away but this team wants to end on a good note. We’ve made some good memories there, but we’ve never won the thing, so we’d like to turn it around and win this weekend.”

John Force, driver of the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“I’m always excited to come race on the mountain. I’ve been coming to Bandimere Speedway a long time. I have a lot of history here. I’ve accomplished a lot. Grown with the Bandimere family. It’s going to be an emotional weekend, saying goodbye to this place. I know they’ll build another track, someplace here in Colorado. I’m trying to stay positive about the situation. Bandimere has given us a lot of really great racing, we’ll try to make that the case again this weekend. I hope this PEAK Chevy team can celebrate one last time in the winner’s circle.”

Robert Hight, driver of the Cornwell Tools/AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“I’ve always loved the challenge of racing the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. I’m going to be sad to see it go but I’m looking forward to defending the win from last year and getting that last Wally at Bandimere. I know the Bandimere Family isn’t done with drag racing and they’ll find a new spot to build on their legacy. Doing well this weekend will set the tone for this Cornwell Tools team through the whole Western Swing. We want that win, it’s the only way to set us up for a potential sweep. This weekend can get us set up for a strong finish through the end of the regular season. The Countdown to the Championship is coming up quick and now is the time to start gaining momentum.”

Camrie Caruso, driver of the Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro Pro Stock for KB Titan Racing:

“I am excited to get back to Bandimere Speedway. Last year the whole season was a whirlwind. Every track was a new experience and I loved every minute of it. I learned a ton and this season I feel a lot more confident. I am looking forward to really getting after it at the Mile-High Nationals. Last year was a lot for me but I was learning so much on the driving and the team operations sides. I love being part of KB Titan Racing because we have a great organization and I have awesome teammates.”

“My Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro has been running really week in qualifying and I think we can make some good runs in Denver. I feel really comfortable in the car and the key is just getting everything to line up on race day like we were able to do in Arizona. This is the last Denver race and Pro Stock isn’t competing at Seattle and Sonoma so I want to leave Denver with some positive momentum going into the back part of the regular season.”

TEAM CHEVY NASCAR RACE ADVANCE: New Hampshire Motor Speedway

TEAM CHEVY ADVANCE
New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Loudon, New Hampshire
July 15-16, 2023

UP NEXT: NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

With NASCAR’s top two series now sitting at single-digits in races remaining in their respective regular seasons, the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) and NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) head to the Northeast where the 1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway will play the host for this weekend’s events. The track famously known as the “Magic Mile” is a unique stop on the series’ schedule – with New Hampshire Motor Speedway being NASCAR’s only appearance in the six-state New England region.

Courtesy of William Byron’s win at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend, Chevrolet will head into Sunday’s Crayon 301 looking for its fourth consecutive trip to victory lane in NASCAR’s premier series this season. NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon powered Chevrolet to its first NCS win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 1995 – with the manufacturer going on to collect a series-leading 19 victories in the NCS’ 51-race history at the venue.

 SEASON SUCCESS ON SHORT-TRACKS

Short-tracks have been familiar territory for NASCAR’s premier series this season – already competing at five different venues that measure one-mile or less. As the series gears up to take on the 1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, Chevrolet heads into the weekend with a strong notebook of success with three short-track wins thus far.

William Byron delivered Chevrolet its first short-track win of the season – scoring his second of four series-leading wins at Phoenix Raceway (one-mile) in March. Byron’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson has recorded both of his points-paying victories of the season on a short-track circuit – the first coming at Richmond Raceway (.750-miles), followed by a win at Martinsville Speedway (.526-miles) just two weeks later. The 2021 series champion also took the checkered flag and the one-million-dollar grand prize in the 2023 NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway (.625-miles).

 BYRON’S CAREER SEASON CONTINUES

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron is on the brink of a milestone feat in his young career with Sunday’s event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway marking his 200th career start in NASCAR’s premier series. The 2023 season is setting up to be a career season for the 25-year-old North Carolina native. Collecting his series-leading fourth NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend, Byron took over the top position in the points standings as the Team Chevy driver continues to be the front-runner for the series’ regular season title.

In addition to leading the series in wins, Byron has also driven his No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro ZL1 to eight top-five finishes, seven stage wins and 742 laps led this season – all of which are series-leading statistics.

Byron’s most recent victory also makes him the winningest driver in the Next Gen era – recording six victories since the debut of the Next Gen vehicle at the beginning of the 2022 NCS season. Also of note, only two drivers in the series are repeat winners in both seasons of Next Gen competition – including Byron and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson.

RESULTS PROVING STRENGTH ACROSS CHEVROLET CAMP

William Byron’s win at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend was celebrated with a strong showing by the Bowtie brigade with drivers from five different Chevrolet teams taking six of the top-10 finishing positions. To date in the 2023 season, at least four different Chevrolet teams have been represented in the top-10 of a NASCAR Cup Series event on seven different occasions. Taking it one step further, the Bowtie brand has also swept the podium five times this season – including the series’ past two events.

 DEFENDING AT THE ‘MAGIC MILE’

JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier took Chevrolet back to victory lane at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last season – driving his No. 7 Camaro SS to the manufacturer’s ninth all-time NASCAR Xfinity Series victory at the 1.058-mile oval. The series’ most recent visit to the “Magic Mile” also saw Chevrolet drivers take nine of the top-10 finishing positions in the event.

Saturday’s Ambetter Health 200 marks the single-digit count to the end of the series’ regular season – with nine races remaining for drivers to either win or point their way into the 12-driver NXS playoff field. Four Chevrolet drivers have already secured a playoff berth by virtue of a win including Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Hill (three wins), JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier (one win), Kaulig Racing’s Chandler Smith (one win) and Jordan Anderson Racing’s Jeb Burton (one win). While still looking to reach victory lane this season, four additional Chevrolet drivers will enter the weekend above the playoff cutline including JR Motorsports’ Josh Berry (+84 points) and Sam Mayer (+46 points), Kaulig Racing’s Daniel Hemric (+41 points) and Richard Childress Racing’s Sheldon Creed (+26 points).

 BOWTIE BULLETS:

· NASCAR Cup Series victories by active Chevrolet drivers at New Hampshire Motor Speedway:

Kyle Busch – three wins (2017, 2015, 2006)

· In 51 NASCAR Cup Series races held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Chevrolet has recorded 19 victories and 18 poles – both of which are series-best feats.

· Only four drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series are repeat winners this season – three of which come from Team Chevy:

William Byron: series-leading four wins (Las Vegas, Phoenix, Darlington & Atlanta 2)
Kyle Busch: three wins (Auto Club, Talladega, WWTR)
Kyle Larson: two wins (Richmond & Martinsville)

· In 19 points-paying NASCAR Cup Series race this season, Chevrolet continues to lead the series in wins (12), top-fives (47), top-10s (86), stage wins (17) and laps led (2,225).

· Chevrolet leads the series in wins across all three NASCAR national series this season with 12 victories in 19 NASCAR Cup Series races, nine victories in 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series races and eight wins in 14 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races – all with a win percentage of more than 50%.

· With William Byron’s win at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports now sits at 297 all-time NASCAR Cup Series victories – all recorded with Chevrolet.

· Chevrolet drivers swept the podium in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend – the manufacturer’s fifth podium sweep in NASCAR’s premier series this season.

· Chevrolet’s series-leading 12 NASCAR Cup Series wins this season have been recorded by drivers from four different Chevrolet teams: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (JTG Daugherty Racing), Kyle Busch (Richard Childress Racing), William Byron and Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports) and Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen (Trackhouse Racing).

· Chevrolet drivers have recorded 17 of the 38 NASCAR Cup Series stage wins this season: William Byron (seven; series-leading), Ross Chastain (five), Kyle Larson (two), Kyle Busch (two) and Chase Elliott (one).

· Chevrolet continues to sit atop the manufacturer points standings in all three NASCAR national series, leading by 73 points in the NASCAR Cup Series, 50 points in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and 37 points in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

· With Grant Enfinger’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at World Wide Technology Raceway, GMS Racing is now the winningest Chevrolet organization in NCTS’ history with 44 all-time wins in the series.

· With its 41 NASCAR Cup Series Manufacturer’s Championships, 33 NASCAR Cup Series Driver’s Championships, and 845 all-time NASCAR Cup Series wins, Chevrolet continues to hold the title of winningest brand in NASCAR Cup Series history.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:
ROSS CHASTAIN, NO. 1 KUBOTA CAMARO ZL1

Why has qualifying become so important, especially for a guy like yourself?

“Qualifying is something that I’ve worked on getting better at. It’s really important to have a good starting spot. Especially now since everyone’s cars are so close together. It’s really small things that add up to be really beneficial. Obviously winning the pole at Nashville was a huge deal to me because I just haven’t been good at it. The team is really trying to help me improve and Nashville showed that. It was a great weekend all around, obviously, but qualifying is very important, especially at a track like New Hampshire. It’s not long and you can be a lap down pretty quickly there. It also helps with pit stall selection and certain stalls can be crucial to maintaining or gaining track position on pit road which can make the difference in winning a race or not.”

What would it mean to you to win this weekend at New Hampshire and Phil Surgen’s home track?

“Phil is generally a pretty quiet guy but it would be fun to pull into victory lane in his neck of the woods. Winning a race is always special, but winning at a home track with family and friends is even more special. I hope we can do it this weekend and get our second win this season.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 5 VALVOLINE CAMARO ZL1

Larson on racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway:

“I like New Hampshire (Motor Speedway) a lot. It’s different than the other tracks we go to. It’s really flat. Kind of like a bigger short track in a way. It’s really rough into turn three and it’s difficult. You have to be really patient with yourself and your car. It’s easy to get frustrated there if you’re not turning into the middle well, you’re loose in or your car is bouncing too much. It’s always hard to get the right feel there and I enjoy that challenge.”

CLIFF DANIELS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 5 VALVOLINE CAMARO ZL1

Daniels on building on the team’s 2023 short-track success:

“New Hampshire (Motor Speedway) is a tough track. We, as Hendrick Motorsports, have a little bit of a tough recent history there. I feel like our cars kind of get trapped in the sixth-to-10th (position) range. Obviously, our expectations are a lot higher than that. We are getting to work in all the areas that we can to try and better ourselves and level up our game. Our short-track package has been strong this year, obviously, with our wins coming on short tracks this year. That certainly doesn’t mean we can rest. We need to be sharp about what we need to do to execute for a good weekend. It starts with running good in practice and hopefully getting a good spot in qualifying, which leads to the pit pick that can really set you up for success. The race always seems to have some sort of asterisk in it for a mix up in strategy, an untimely caution, or whatever it may be. So, we just need to be on our toes and make good decisions throughout the day.”

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1

Elliott looking ahead to New Hampshire:

“A few weeks ago, we were one of the cars that got to do the tire test, so that was nice. We had a good run there last year. Kind of gave one away, I didn’t do a very good job there on the last run and that was frustrating. Loudon hasn’t been the greatest track for me in general, so the fact that we even had a shot to win was nice. I’m looking forward to going back. I thought we had a solid test. We weren’t the best, but I thought we made some gains and that’s always a good thing.”

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1

Gustafson on how the team is approaching the rest of the regular season:

“It’s really pretty simple to me. We do the best we can every week. I think people expect some grand plan, but we just try to do the best we can. We put our effort and heart and soul into each and every week. We bring the best car we can to the track and try to extract every point we can out of every single weekend. We’ve just got to give it our best effort, minimize mistakes and be prepared. That’s all we can do and the rest will take care of itself. If we can’t perform well enough to make it in or win, then we’re probably not going to do very well in the playoffs anyway. So, my focus is to do the best we can and meet our potential. If we do that, then we’ll make it and I know we’ll be successful.”

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 16 NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS CAMARO ZL1

“New Hampshire is really flat. It’s tough to set the car up there and get it to turn but still have rear grip in it. I’ve been on both ends of having success but also have struggled. With this car, I enjoyed it last year but definitely needed to be a little bit better getting around the racetrack. Being up front here is critical but with the long runs we typically get, it’s easy to burn off the tires. It’s a challenging racetrack that we have struggled at as a company, but we have to potential to be better at.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 RAPTORTOUGH.COM CAMARO ZL1

Byron on holding the points lead:

“We’ve still got seven races until the playoffs, and we’ve just got to keep inching up on it. We can’t have any major bad weeks. Atlanta (Motor Speedway) looked like it was going to be a bad week and we overcame it. It’s a good lesson to learn, but I think we’re coming up on two tough tracks that we’ve got to really hone in on with Pocono (Raceway) and Loudon (New Hampshire Motor Speedway).”

RUDY FUGLE, CREW CHIEF, NO. 24 RAPTORTOUGH.COM CAMARO ZL1

Fugle on what makes New Hampshire a difficult track:

“New Hampshire (Motor Speedway) is one of the toughest on the schedule. The way to make these Next Gen cars go fast is to have them low to the ground but at the same time, all of your grip goes away if you’re too low. We live in a 30-thousandth window. We want all the grip but not to lose all the grip and that’s New Hampshire in a nutshell.”

NOAH GRAGSON, NO. 42 SUNSEEKER RESORTS CAMARO ZL1

“New Hampshire hasn’t been one of my better tracks but we got a handle on it in the Xfinity Series. It’s a fast track and the fans up there are super cool, they love racing. I just want this No. 42 team to go there, execute all day long and come home with a respectable finish.”

ERIK JONES, NO. 43 ALLEGIANT CAMARO ZL1

“New Hampshire is fun. I enjoy going there, the fans are always huge supporters of our race coming to town and we have a great crowd every year so it’s always fun to go up to Loudon. The track itself is a tough place, it changes so much with whether they put down the resin or don’t put down the resin, it seems like it really changes the race a lot and what you need out of your racecar. You have to adjust for that and figure out what you need from your car to go out and run well. It always seems like if you have a good turning car, you will go out and run well in New Hampshire. Hopefully, we can find that out and get some good track position early since track position is so important there, so I hope we can get it turning good and get out front.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1

Bowman on his position in the point standings:

“Obviously, this is not where we want to be. With the way the season started and then having to deal with my injury and a points penalty, we aren’t in a bad spot, but we have our work cut out for us. This weekend is another opportunity to go lock ourselves into the playoffs and that is what we are focused on.”

BLAKE HARRIS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1

Harris on his thoughts heading to New Hampshire:

“Unfortunately, Alex’s only time at Loudon last year ended early. Since then, we have had the No. 9 team run really well there towards the end of that race and they also did a tire test this year. We have a lot of data and a lot of good short-track data – Richmond (Raceway) was a strong race for us and I think there will be some things applicable from there. We will try to take all of that information, apply it to our No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 this weekend and go compete for a win.”

DANIEL SUAREZ, NO. 99 SLAM! FOUNDATION CAMARO ZL1

Are you ready for a busy week of racing?

“Yes, we are testing in Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday then racing in the Governor’s Cup in Vermont on Thursday before going to New Hampshire for racing Saturday and Sunday so it’s going to be a busy week. I like racing so it’s kind of cool for me. I didn’t grow up late model racing so these races are a new experience for me. I don’t know what to expect but everyone tells me Thunder Road in Vermont is a really cool track. I can’t wait.”

What are your thoughts on working with SLAM!, Pitbull, IA Capital, Ramirez to raise scholarship money in New Hampshire?

“That’s really good stuff. We visited SLAM! in Miami and it was amazing to see the students. They did a news conference with me and just the students. It was like being in the media center at a NASCAR race. This money will go toward giving these kids a chance at doing something they want to do in life and that’s always something I want to be part of and help out. It would be nice if we can get a lot of television time for SLAM! Sunday and pull into victory lane.”

CHEVROLET INDYCAR AT TORONTO: TEAM CHEVY RACE ADVANCE

CHEVROLET IN NTT INDYCAR SERIES
HONDA INDY TORONTO
TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA
TEAM CHEVY RACE ADVANCE
JULY 14-JULY 16, 2023

CHEVROLET HEADS NORTH TO CANADA FOR THE HONDA INDY TORONTO

DETROIT (July 12, 2023) – The 10th round of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR Series season sees Team Chevy hit the streets for the fourth of five street circuit events, the Honda Indy Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, this weekend. Racing around the tight 11-turn, 1.786-mile/2.874-kilometer course at Exhibition Place, Chevrolet seeks to add to their seven wins, seven earned NTT P1 Pole Awards, and 599 laps led.

Sweeping the podium three times since 2012 in the V6 2.2-liter twin turbo direct injected era at Toronto, including in 2014 for both Race 1 and Race 2, as well as 2015’s race, the Bowtie brand boasts 19 podiums in total at Honda Indy Toronto.

Finishing on the podium in 2022’s event, Felix Rosenqvist, driver of the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, noted anticipation of this year’s event, saying, “It’s good to be back in my favorite city in the world. I love Toronto, and I love the track there. I’ve had some of my best career highlights there, including my first podium finish with the team last year, so I’m excited to return.”

With two victories and a pole award in Toronto, Josef Newgarden, driver of the No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet, said of the annual event and Canadian fans, “It’s definitely a crowd favorite. We love the city, [and] we love the fans. They’re normally very knowledgeable on the history of INDYCAR.” In discussing the course, Newgarden continued saying “It’s a tough street circuit, a challenge for all of us. For our team, it’ll be a great opportunity to hopefully have a good weekend, good points for the championship and try to roll into the summer with more strength.”

“We’re all excited to return to the Streets of Toronto,” said Rob Buckner, IndyCar Program Manager for Chevrolet at General Motors. “Canada has always been INDYCAR country, and the enthusiasm of the fans is infectious at Toronto. The lakefront location adds to the atmosphere.

“The stretch of different types of tracks the Chevrolet-powered teams compete on in June and July every season provides multiple opportunities to showcase the flexibility of the cars to maximize performance on different configurations as well as the talent of the drivers to perform well,” continued Buckner. “As at any street race, execution and strategy are key at Toronto. Qualifying and track position will play huge roles in the outcome of the race. We’re ready to go all-out and help our teams start up front and stay there come Sunday.”

The Honda Indy Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada kicks off with Practice 1 Friday, July 14 at 3 p.m. ET, with Practice 2 starting Saturday at 10:35 a.m. ET. Qualifications and the Firestone Fast Six also take place Saturday, starting at 2:50 p.m. ET. A final warm-up will start race day Sunday at 10:15 a.m. ET. All practice and qualifying will be live on Peacock, INDYCAR Radio, and SiriusXM Channel 160. The 85-lap, 151.81-mile race Sunday, July 16 will take the green flag at 1:30 p.m. ET live on Peacock.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING (QUOTES):

Josef Newgarden, No. 2 Chevrolet at Team Penske:

“Excited to go to Toronto. It’s definitely a crowd favorite. We love the city, we love the fans. They’re normally very knowledgeable on the history of INDYCAR. It’s a tough street circuit, a challenge for all of us. For our team, it’ll be a great opportunity to hopefully have a good weekend, good points for the championship and try to roll into the summer with more strength.”

Scott McLaughlin, No. 3 Chevrolet at Team Penske:

“For me, it’s my second year going into Toronto. Always love street circuits, and Toronto has so much history. Going there is a lot of fun and they put on an awesome event. The Canadian people really make the event, and it’s always a buzz. So, I’m excited to go back there and have another crack at a really cool race track.”

On learnings from last year and what can be applied to a second race…

“I think the more laps I can do, the better for me. We did as many laps as we could, and qualified in the Firestone Fast Six last year; we were really strong. But I know with that experience under my belt, and how I know the race travels in that, I feel like we can go better again. It’s just going to be laps and making the most of what I know from last year, and studying what I learned.”

With Detroit returning to the streets, and having St. Pete and Long Beach, what do you feel you’ve learned and can also apply to a second event in Toronto for you?

“I think what we learned with Firestone, and the tires, that’s a big deal. Toronto always comes at a time when everyone is really on top of their setups with street courses, and the tires and stuff, so I’m excited to go there. I think we’re going to have a really strong package regardless.”

Pato O’Ward, No. 5 Chevrolet at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

“We’re back to street racing, so I expect it to be a fight just like every other street course that we go to. Anything can happen. I always look forward to going to Toronto; it’s a nice city with a great atmosphere, and we have awesome Canadian fans.”

Alexander Rossi, No. 7 Chevrolet at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

“First and foremost, I’m really excited to be back here in Toronto for the race. This city always brings an amazing crowd and energy that fuels all of us at the track. The street course in Toronto is tight and technical, but that’s exactly what makes it so challenging and rewarding. We’ve had great pace on street courses this year, and we need to continue that trend to gain back the couple spots we’ve lost in the championship over the past two events.”

Gavin Ward, Race Director at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

“Toronto is a special event, not only for me with it being run on the streets in my hometown but also for the Canadian team members we have, including part-owner Ric Peterson. I remember riding my bike over to this track when the thought of making a living in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES was just a dream. Now to be here ready to fight for the pole and the win is “pinch-me” stuff. The Canadian winters serve up some bumpy roads that keep our damper experts busy, and the long blast down the Lakeshore serves up some great racing. Let’s go have some fun.”

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 20 Chevrolet at Ed Carpenter Racing:

“Toronto has always been a huge hit on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES calendar with some of the most passionate fans we race in front of. The Canadian fans make this event what it is! This will be my first street course race behind the wheel of the No. 20 BITNILE.COM Chevy, so we’ll be working through our long test list of items in both practice sessions ahead of qualifying.”

Rinus VeeKay, No. 21 Chevrolet at Ed Carpenter Racing:

“I am very excited to go to Toronto! I like the city a lot, it’s so nice to be up there. I love the atmosphere surrounding the race and the track itself, there’s so much to look forward to this weekend! It’s another street course, which creates great opportunities for us. I am planning on staying out of the chaos and getting a good result for BITNILE.COM! Hopefully, we are up to speed right away and can turn the season around.”

Santino Ferrucci, No. 14 Chevrolet at AJ Foyt Racing:

“I very much enjoyed racing at the Toronto Street course in 2019. We definitely had a strong weekend considering it was my first time there as a rookie. I do very much look forward to coming back to Toronto even though the car is different and I’m in a different team. We’ve been working very hard and very diligently, on our street course set up to try and improve from the team last year. Unfortunately, this is one of the few tracks I can’t practice on my simulator so I will be relying off of old videos and notes.”

Benjamin Pedersen, No. 55 Chevrolet at AJ Foyt Racing:

“This will be my first time in Toronto. I haven’t raced there in any Junior Formula series, but I am really excited to learn a new track and it looks like a very enjoyable street circuit. We will be racing against guys that have a lot of experience, guys that have literally been there for 20 years. The team has had a lot of success in the past on street circuits so I am excited to see what we can accomplish together.

“In terms of prep, the big thing is looking at video and data and trying to get as much sim time as possible. It will really be just getting up to speed as quickly as possible, getting the car in a window where it is performing and getting the most lap time out of it as possible. I am really focused on giving the team a strong result.”

William Ashley is the official trophy provider of the Honda Indy Toronto

Four-time Honda Indy Toronto winner Scott Dixon will help reveal this year’s trophies tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. ET at the William Ashley store on Bloor St. West

TORONTO (July 12, 2023) – William Ashley is back as an official partner and the trophy provider of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race this Sunday at Exhibition Place, headlining the 35th edition of the Honda Indy Toronto weekend, set for July 14-16.

The 2023 versions of the crystal trophies will be revealed tomorrow (July 13) at 10:30 a.m. ET inside William Ashley’s downtown Toronto flagship located at 131 Bloor St. West with help from six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion driver Scott Dixon. Dixon won last year’s Honda Indy Toronto adding to previous wins in 2018 and 2013 (twice).

The celebrated retailer for Tableware, Home Décor and Kitchenware has provided the spectacular William Ashley Waterford trophies to the Honda Indy Toronto winner at every race since 2011. These custom-made masterpieces are crafted by Waterford and hand blown at their factory in Waterford, Ireland. The first-place trophy takes an artisan 48 hours to make and is etched by hand with a remarkable rendering of the Toronto skyline.

Dixon took control of the 2022 edition of the race after passing pole-sitter Colton Herta on Lap 18. The veteran pilot led 40 of the 85 laps, including the final 25 laps, en route to his 52nd career win, tying him with fellow legend Mario Andretti for No. 2 on the all-time INDYCAR SERIES wins list. Dixon will look to repeat his success from last year and win his fifth Honda Indy Toronto in the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR).

“It’s been a pretty fun track for us in the past. We’ve definitely had some great results as a team and obviously going back to where we won last year. I love the crowd here and wish we had more Canadian races,” said Dixon. “The one goal is to try to win it and to try and keep this championship headed in the right direction. All of CGR is looking really strong right now and Honda, as well. We’ll keep working, keep our heads down and we’ll see what it brings.”

Media members are invited to attend the event at the William Ashley store at 131 Boor St. West. The trophy will be revealed, and then both Jeff Atkinson, Honda Indy Toronto president, and Scott Dixon will be available for interviews.

Atlanta recap: Noah Gragson qualified in the 31st position for the 400-mile event at Atlanta Motor Speedway. At the beginning of the race, the handling of the car was not where Gragson wanted it to be. Crew chief Luke Lambert and the team adjusted on the No. 42 Sunseeker Resort Chevrolet throughout the race. Gragson made his way into the top-15 but on Lap 146, he said the car stepped out from under him causing contact with the wall. The team was able to repair the damage in time and Gragson was able to make minimum speed, but he would be six laps down when rejoining the field. The race was red flagged at lap 185 and did not go the scheduled distance of 260 laps due to rain and Gragson was credited with a 33rd place finishing position.

Happy birthday, Noah!: Gragson will celebrate his 25th birthday this weekend on Saturday, July 15.

Luke at Loudon: Crew chief Luke Lambert has 15 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series of which he has earned two top-five and six top-10 finishes with four different drivers. He has two starts in Xfinity, one with Gragson which resulted in a top-10 finish.

NASCAR Hall of Fame Fan Vote: LEGACY MOTOR CLUB co-owner Jimmie Johnson was selected as a nominee for the 2024 NASCAR Hall of Fame class. The vote will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 2 when a 61-person panel will meet to select next year’s inductees. The 62nd vote goes to winners of a NASCAR.com Fan Vote (www.nascar.com/halloffame). The fan vote is currently open and will close on July 30 at 12:00 a.m. ET.

Wendy’s to honor National Fries Day and National Ice Cream Days: Gragson’s sponsor Wendy’s is honoring National French Fries Day (July 13) and National Ice Cream Day (July 16) by giving customers a free order of fries, any size, with any purchase made using the Wendy’s app (one order per person). Customers can also redeem the deal for an order of free seasoned potatoes – Wendy’s breakfast fries. Offer is applied to a mobile order, scan in-restaurant or at the drive-thru. Also through Sunday, customers can get a free small Frosty with the purchase of a small order of fries through Grubhub.

Quoting Noah: “New Hampshire hasn’t been one of my better tracks but we got a handle on it in the Xfinity Series. It’s a fast track and the fans up there are super cool, they love racing. I just want this No. 42 team to go there, execute all day long and come home with a respectable finish.”

Atlanta in the Rearview: Erik Jones began the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 25th position. Jones initially struggled to find the right balance with his car but the team made significant adjustments during two lengthy pit stops. During a late restart, Jones made his way into third, but Mother Nature had the last word, and the race was called early. Jones finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place.

Fast and LOUDon: Over his seven starts at the one-mile asphalt oval, Jones has earned one top-five and two top-10 finishes. Jones holds an average start position of 12.6 and an average finishing position of 18th. During the 2019 race, Jones led four laps and finished the race in third place at the “Magic Mile”.

Slinger Nationals: This week Jones participated in the 44th Annual Cobblestone Hotels Slinger Nationals at Slinger (Wisc.) Speedway. During practice, Jones logged an impressive lap time of 11.333 seconds, placing him at the top of the leaderboard. He took home an 11th-place finish in the main event.

Trading Spots: Jones and his longtime spotter Rick Carelli will trade places for a stint. Carelli, a former NASCAR driver, will get behind the wheel for the “Spotter Exhibition Race” at Stafford (Conn.) Speedway on July 13. The 20-lap shootout will take place before the Camping World SRX Series event and Jones will be on the spotter stand to be his ‘eye in the sky’.

Dave in New Hampshire: No. 43 crew chief Dave Elenz has a total of seven starts at the Magic Mile – one in the NASCAR Cup Series and six in the Xfinity Series. During his Xfinity Series career, Elenz coached five different drivers to one top-five and three top-10 finishes.

Meet Erik: On Sunday, July 16th, Jones will sign autographs for approximately 100 fans at the United States Air Force activation display in the Fan Zone at 11:20 am local time.

Quoting Erik Jones: “New Hampshire is fun, I enjoy going there, the fans are always huge supporters of our race coming to town and we have a great crowd every year so it’s always fun to go up to Loudon. The track itself is a tough place, it changes so much with whether they put down the resin or don’t put down the resin, it seems like it really changes the race a lot and what you need out of your car. You have to adjust for that and figure out what you need from your car to go out and run well. It always seems like if you have a good turning car, you will go out and run well in New Hampshire. Hopefully, we can find that out and get some good track position early since track position is so important there, so I hope we can get it turning good and get out front.”

Stewart-Haas Racing: New Hampshire NXS Advance (Cole Custer | Riley Herbst)

COLE CUSTER | RILEY HERBST
New Hampshire NASCAR Xfinity Series Advance
NASCAR Xfinity Series Overview

  • Event: Ambetter Health 200 (Round 18 of 33)
  • Date: Saturday, July 15
  • Location: New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon
  • Layout: 1.058-mile oval
  • Time/TV/Radio: 3 p.m. EDT on USA/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

Cole Custer Notes of Interest

  • Cole Custer and the No. 00 Haas Automation team look to keep the momentum rolling as they head into Saturday’s Ambetter Health 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. A solid third-place finish in last Saturday’s Alsco Uniforms 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway netted Custer his 11th consecutive top-10 finish and his second top-five in a row. Custer ran in the top-12 for a majority of the race and, in a fuel-saving call, was able to bypass his competitors on a NASCAR overtime restart to jump from 10th to third. It was his best finish on a superspeedway-style track and his best finish since the Atlanta repave and reconfiguration. Custer now has the longest top-10 streak of any driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
  • Saturday’s Ambetter Health 200 will mark Custer’s fourth Xfinity Series start at New Hampshire. In his three prior starts from 2017 to 2019, he never finished outside the top-10. His best finish was a second-place run in his last Xfinity Series race there in July 2019, when he was bested only by race-winner Christopher Bell. Custer also has seven New Hampshire starts outside of the Xfinity Series – three in the NASCAR Cup Series, three in the NASCAR Truck Series, and one in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Two of those were wins – the 2014 NASCAR Truck Series race and the 2013 K&N Pro Series race.
  • Custer will be pulling double duty for the second weekend in a row as he’ll also be behind the wheel of the No. 51 BioHaven / Jacob Companies Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing in Sunday’s Crayon 301 Cup Series race.
  • Custer has been on a roll for the past 11 weeks since the April 1 race at Richmond (Va.) Raceway. It’s a stretch that includes two race wins and three pole qualifying efforts, and most importantly has put him in a strong position for the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs. He’s jumped to third in the driver standings from the 10th position he held prior to Richmond. He is now 45 points behind John Hunter Nemechek, the regular-season championship leader. Custer’s streak of 11 top-10s in a row began with his fifth-place result at Richmond. With only nine races left before the playoffs begin Sept. 15 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, Custer is looking to close the points gap even further and take home not only more wins, but the regular-season championship trophy.

Riley Herbst Notes of Interest

  • Riley Herbst and the No. 98 Monster Energy team are ready to show their resilience and ability to rebound in Saturday’s Ambetter Health 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Last Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Herbst experienced the high of passing Josh Berry to steal the win in the opening stage. Herbst and the No. 98 team felt they were in position to contend for the win looking forward, but an untimely flat left-rear tire put Herbst in a bad position on track, where he was caught up in an accident that forced him to retire to the garage on lap 88. While he may not have gotten the ending he had hoped for, Herbst’s stage win was the first of his Xfinity Series career, which began in 2019.
  • Saturday’s race at New Hampshire will mark Herbst’s third at the 1.058-mile oval. In his prior two visits, he earned a best result of 10th in his first start there in July 2021. He also has two New Hampshire starts outside of the Xfinity Series, both in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2018 and 2019. He finished fourth and sixth, respectively.
  • With only nine races to go before the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs begin on Aug. 15 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, Herbst is looking to secure his spot in the 12-driver playoff field. He is currently 11th in the driver standings but 12th in the playoff standings, with a six-point cushion ahead of 13th-place Parker Kligerman. Herbst and his team are looking to find the momentum they exhibited at the outset of the season in order to better protect their points buffer and work their way upward in the playoff standings by accumulating points at a greater rate. A race win, of course, would lock Herbst into the postseason.

Cole Custer, Driver of the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang

Your statistics at New Hampshire are strong across all of the NASCAR national touring series, including wins in the Truck Series and K&N Pro Series East. How do you feel coming into this weekend’s race?

“I love going to New Hampshire. I love seeing the fans up there because of how hardcore they are. It’s a very technical and difficult racetrack for a driver, though. It can be very awkward, and it can be a challenge. But overall, that’s what makes it fun for us. I’m hoping that the No. 00 Haas Automation team can put a strong weekend together so we can park our Ford Mustang in victory lane again.”

After a strong race at Atlanta last weekend, what’s your plan heading to New Hampshire?

“The plan is always to compete for the win, but this track isn’t always the kindest to us drivers. New Hampshire’s just so hard because you have to roll the corners so long and modulate the brake pedal in order to do well at this track. It’s a very tricky race. You have to be patient so you don’t overdrive the cars and get yourself into trouble. It can honestly be a challenge for a driver, but I’m ready for it. Hopefully, I can keep calm and bring home a strong finish this weekend.”

Riley Herbst, Driver of the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang

Last Saturday’s race at Atlanta provided racing’s highs and lows for the No. 98 Monster Energy team after you won your first career stage, then ended up being collected in an accident. How do you get past those heartbreaking races and move on to the next?

“You just have to take it race-by-race. We’ve had some bad luck, and I hate it for this No. 98 Monster Energy team. We were so strong in the beginning of the year and, honestly, we were building a strong race in Atlanta. We were a top-three car, for sure, and I think we could’ve been a contender for the win. That cut tire caused so much trouble, and we had to end our day early. You can’t dwell on that, though. Each weekend is a new race and a new opportunity to show our speed and determination.”

You’ve had two prior starts at New Hampshire with a best finish of 10th. What’s the plan for this weekend?

“The plan is simple – survive and get back on track. We had some bad luck in both Chicago and Atlanta, so we want to get back to where we were at the beginning of the season. There have been a lot of ups and downs, so I really want to end these final races of the regular season strong. New Hampshire has always been a fun track for me, but we got involved in a wreck last year that wasn’t of our own doing. We have the speed to run well there, so hopefully you’ll see that this weekend.”

Kaulig Racing Weekly Advance | New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Crayon 301

New Hampshire Motor Speedway
NASCAR Cup Series (NCS)
Sunday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. EDT on USA

  • Kaulig Racing has made two NCS starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
  • So far in the 2023 season, Kaulig Racing has earned one runner-up finish, a third-place finish, nine top-10 finishes and has led 30 laps.

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Nutrien Ag Solutions Camaro ZL1

  • AJ Allmendinger has 20 NCS starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with 13-laps led, one top-10 finish and an average finish of 22.4.
  • So far in the 2023 season, Allmendinger has led seven laps and earned one top five, four top 10s and seven top-15 finishes.
  • Allmendinger earned his best finish of the 2023 NCS season last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he finished third.

It’s a challenging racetrack that we have struggled at as a company, but we have to potential to be better at.” – AJ Allmendinger on New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Justin Haley, No. 31 Campers Inn RV Camaro ZL1

  • Justin Haley has made two NCS starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
  • So far in the 2023 NCS season, Haley has earned one top five and five top-10 finishes with a best qualifying effort of third.
  • Haley has earned two top-10 finishes in-a-row, following his eighth-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his best-finishing streak to date.
  • Haley’s best finish of the season came from his runner-up finish in the first-ever race at the Chicago Street Course where he led 23 laps, the most he has led in a single race.
  • After completing the 2023 Coca-Cola 600 and Alsco Uniforms 300, Haley now holds the record for the most NASCAR National Series miles completed in a single day by any driver in NASCAR history.

“Loudon typically isn’t one of my best tracks. I’ve had some success there, but I’ve just kind of always struggled to find a rhythm. Fortunately, we’ve taken some great steps forward with our cup program these last few races. I’m definitely more optimistic heading to New Hampshire with how competitive we have been.” – Justin Haley on New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Ambetter Health 200
New Hampshire Motor Speedway
NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS)
Saturday, July 15 at 3:00 p.m. EDT on USA

  • Kaulig Racing has made 10 starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and has earned one top-10 finish, one pole award and 67-laps led.
  • So far in the 2023 NXS season, Kaulig Racing has earned four wins, 12 top-fives, 28 top-10 finishes, three pole awards and has led 504 laps.

Austin Dillon, No. 10 LA Golf Chevrolet Camaro

  • Austin Dillon has made six NXS starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, earning four top five and five top-10 finishes.
  • Of his 153-total NXS starts, Dillon accrued nine wins, 65 top fives, 107 top-10 finishes and 17 pole awards.
  • He last competed with Kaulig Racing at Auto Club Speedway earlier this year, where he finished eighth.

“I enjoy racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It’s a different type of track than what we see on a regular basis. The corner is flat, and there is not much banking to hold you. It’s important to have a car that allows you to get into the corner deep. I know that everyone at Kaulig Racing will prepare a fast Chevy that will allow us to be aggressive and make passes. It’s a fun track, and I’m looking forward to getting to the Northeast with LA Golf and all of the partners on the No. 10 car.” – Austin Dillon on New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Daniel Hemric, No. 11 Campers Inn RV Chevrolet Camaro

  • Daniel Hemric has made four NXS starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has earned a best finish of third and eight-laps led.
  • Hemric currently sits eighth in the 2023 NXS standings and has earned two top five and nine top-10 finishes.

“New Hampshire is a challenging track. We have stepped up our short-track program this year at Kaulig Racing and everyone back at the shop has been working hard. I look forward to hopefully getting the results to show that.” – Daniel Hemric on New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Chandler Smith, No. 16 Quick Tie Products Chevrolet Camaro

  • Chandler Smith will make his first NXS start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Ambetter Health 200.
  • So far in the 2023 NXS season, Smith has earned one win, four top fives, seven top-10 finishes and two pole awards.
  • Smith is fifth in NXS point standings with one win, four top five and seven top-10 finishes.

“I’ve never raced at New Hampshire before, so I’m going to be learning a lot in the practice session Friday. The weather doesn’t look great, and I know we can race in the rain there as well. I might be learning a lot this weekend on the fly! We’ve had positive momentum at a bunch of races lately but just haven’t gotten the finishes we need. I think that it’s all a part of the process, though. Running up front consistently, like we have been, will eventually lead to more breaks and better luck down the line.” – Chandler Smith on New Hampshire Motor Speedway
