Ryan Vargas has a new team and new series to call home for this upcoming season after it was announced that he will be campaigning on a part-time basis for On Point Motorsports for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

The 22-year-old Vargas from La Mirada, California, will make his inaugural presence in the Truck circuit at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 18, where he will be piloting the No. 30 On Point Motorsports Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. He will then compete at Darlington Raceway (May 12), Nashville Superspeedway (June 23), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (July 8), Richmond Raceway (July 29), Talladega Superspeedway (September 30) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (October 21).

The news comes as Vargas is coming off his fourth part-time campaign in the Xfinity Series, where he notched a career-best sixth-place result at Daytona International Speedway in August. Competing in 26 of 33-scheduled Xfinity events, he notched an average-finishing result of 25.4 before settling in 26th place in the final driver’s standings.

In 67 career starts in the Xfinity Series, Vargas has accumulated a total of two top-10 results, four laps led and an average-finishing result of 25.7. Prior to the Xfinity Series, he competed in the 2018 ARCA Menards Series East season with Rev Racing, where he notched six top-10 results before finishing in sixth place in the final standings. The Californian is also a two-time recipient of the Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award.

“I’m beyond thrilled to join On-Point Motorsports for the 2023 Season,” Vargas said. “I told myself heading into this offseason that it was time for a change. I knew that I was ready to take on a new challenge. Having never made a truck series start, I really felt that this year was the perfect time for me to make the move into a competitive Truck Series entry. There’s no denying what Bones and his team have done are nothing short of impressive. With a bunch of top-10 finishes and opportunities to make it to victory lane, I knew I had found myself a fantastic new home.”

In addition, Vargas will be receiving sponsorship support from Critical Path Security, Léargas Security, Swann Security, and Williamsburg Contracting throughout this season.

“Although I won’t be running the full schedule, I’m excited to engrain myself within the organization and work hands on with the development of my teammates and the truck’s on-track performance,” Vargas added, “Thank you to all my fans and followers for continuing to believe in me. I’m truly blessed and I really look forward to competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2023!”

For this upcoming season, Vargas will become the 13th different competitor to compete for On Point Motorsports. The team’s No. 30 entry finished in 24th place in the 2022 Truck owner’s standings while being piloted by sixth different competitors. Their best result during the previous season included a 12th-place run at Las Vegas with Tate Fogleman followed by a 13th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway with Kaden Honeycutt.

Vargas’ first Truck Series career start of the season is set to occur at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 18. The event’s coverage is scheduled to occur at 2 p.m. ET on FS1.

Ryan Raddon, known as Kaskade, is a household name in electronic music with many impressive firsts credited to his name. He was the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago (his hometown) and the Staples Center in Los Angeles (his home now). Kaskade was also the first DJ to secure a Las Vegas residency, creating the landscape for the city’s future entertainment structure. He was the first electronic artist to headline Coachella. In July 2021, Kaskade came out of quarantine swinging as the first ever solo headlining musician to sell out and perform for a public event at LA’s SoFi Stadium.

This will be Kaskade’s second performance in the Snake Pit, as he also provided the Snake Pit’s soundtrack during the 99th Indianapolis 500 in 2015.

Kaskade has recorded 12 studio albums and received seven Grammy nominations. With collaborations under his belt with heavy hitters Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Meghan Trainor, he has the unique talent of creating his signature sound in any genre. Most recently Kaskade has teamed up with fellow producer and Snake Pit artist deadmau5 to form Kx5. Their debut single “Escape” has cracked the Top 40 and soared to the No. 1 Dance single on Mediabase charts.

Jesse Kardon, known as Subtronics, fuses his unique blend of cutting-edge sound design with hard-hitting bass to push the envelope with sound engineering.

In January 2022, Subtronics dropped his debut album “FRACTALS,” which charted at No. 4 on the Billboard Dance album chart and had a dedicated billboard in Times Square in New York. The album coincided with his massive 50-plus date, sellout national headline bus tour, the FRACTAL Tour, which featured state-of-the-art production and visuals. The tour traveled with a custom-built stage, including a floating DJ table within a reflective black hole dubbed The Wormhole.

Subtronics dropped his “ANTIFRACTAL” album in December 2022, featuring exclusive VIPs and remixes from himself and heavyweights including Virtual Riot, Wooli, Peekaboo, A Hundred Drums and more. He is gearing up for his 2023 ANTIFRACTUAL headline tour, which is a first of its kind touring deal across Live Nation, Insomniac Events and C3, along with their international properties.

Hailing from a city steeped in house culture, Chicago’s John Summit has quickly become one of the hottest names in dance music worldwide. His feel-good floor-fillers take the pumping grooves of his hometown’s classic house music, add a healthy dose of melody and top it off with 2020s studio polish.

Summit’s prolific output has resulted in the accumulation of 5 million monthly Spotify listeners, the top-selling artist across all genres on Beatport in 2021 and a No. 1 track on U.S. dance radio with his record “Human.” In 2022, he toured across the globe with key festival plays at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Bonnaroo, Parklife and more. With the announcement of his new label/event brand Off The Grid, Summit is displaying no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

O’Neal is one of the most dominant basketball players in NBA history and is also one of the greatest entertainers on Earth as DJ Diesel. At 7-foot-1 and 325 pounds, Shaq’s larger-than-life personality and powerful athleticism have resulted in worldwide admiration and one of the most passionate fan bases in sports and entertainment. The Hall of Famer first discovered electronic dance music after crashing the festival TomorrowWorld in 2014, a milestone event that changed his life forever after being exposed to DJs such as Steve Aoki and Skrillex. He made his performance debut at the same festival a year later.

DJ Diesel has been passionate about music from a very young age. At just 14 after O’Neal saw Public Enemy live for the first time, while sandwiched in a crowd of 5,000 people, he became fixated on DJing. He cut his neighbors’ grass, walked dogs and scraped together any cash he could until he saved up $200 to buy his first set of turntables at a local pawn shop. Fast forward to 1993, O’Neal’s rap album, “Shaq Diesel,” did the unthinkable of selling over a million copies and peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 100, cementing him as the only athlete ever with a platinum-selling album.

Jauz, the project of Sam Vogel, a 26-year-old Los Angeles-based icon collective graduate, combines brilliant production, energetic sets and underground vibes that have captivated the hearts of the dance community. Jauz’s release of the addictive mid-tempo original “Feel the Volume” earned him international recognition after its release. Gaining support early on from industry heavyweights like Zedd, Skrillex, Diplo and others, Jauz quickly became included on every major festival lineup. His euphoric originals and viral remixes seamlessly weave in and out of several musical categories.

Jauz has boasted two sell-out tours – “The Friendzy Tour” in 2016 and “The Bite America! Tour” in 2018 to launch his artist label “Bite This!” in 55 different cities across the U.S. and Canada. All while also releasing his debut album “The Wise & The Wicked” that reached No. 1 on the dance charts in under two hours and earned over 20 million streams in less than three weeks from its release.

Tickets for the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 28 and the GMR Grand Prix on Saturday, May 13 are available at www.ims.com.

Ashton Harrison made her IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar series debut in the 2022 Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring in the GTD Pro class with Racers Edge Motorsports and then went on to claim the 2022 SRO Pro-Am championship with the team, winning 4 races along the way. Harrison is also a veteran of four seasons in the IMSA sanctioned Lamborghini Super Trofeo (LST) series with Wayne Taylor Racing. For 2023, she enters her first full season in the top-tier IMSA series with the first green flag at the Roar. Seasoned sportscar veteran Kyle Marcelli also joined Harrison at Sebring in 2022 for a top-10 result in the Acura NSX GT3 Evo22. Marcelli and the teams’ third endurance driver, Danny Formal, have shared the stable with Harrison, so the three will bring their experience together into the Racers Edge with WTRAndretti pit box. No 93 Harrison Contracting Company Acura NSX GT3 Evo 22 DRIVER QUOTES:

Kyle Marcelli:
“I’m very much looking forward to the 61st running of the Rolex 24 in the No 93 Harrison Contracting Acura NSX GT3 Evo22. It’s obviously a challenging and grueling race—essentially The Super Bowl of sports car racing to start off the season. There’s no question that the GTD class is arguably the most competitive category and most difficult category to win. We have good tools and a strong driver lineup, a strong team in Racers Edge Motorsports with WTRAndretti, strong car in the NSX platform, and we definitely have a chance at that podium. We need to execute to the best of our ability and hope for a little bit of luck, and the result will take care of itself. We have a great shot at it, and I’m very excited for the race.”

Ashton Harrison:
“I’m super excited for the Roar and to get back behind the wheel of the No 93 Harrison Contracting Company Acura NSX GT3 Evo22. I’ve been preparing and working hard since our test in December. We’ve had some calls and meetings as a team to really start to gel and everyone has high expectations for each other and for WTR Andretti, so I think the Racers Edge team is planning to come out of the gate strong. We’ll see how we stack up to the other teams after this week, and can then be even more prepared for the 24. I’m anxious to get started at my first Roar event. I think it’s just so special I get to share this experience and this season with Racers Edge Motorsports with WTRAndretti and my teammates.”

Ryan Briscoe:
“I’m excited to head back to Daytona and get behind the wheel of the No 93 Harrison Contracting Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 with a chance to win another Rolex. When I last teamed with WTR in 2020, we finished on the top step of the podium. But my wife is super needy and says she needs one for each wrist. I also have 2 daughters who really like shiny objects. Most importantly, the partnership between Racers Edge Motorsports and WTRAndretti puts us in a great spot to win in a very competitive GTD class, and I really look forward to working with Ashton, Kyle and Danny. You never take these opportunities for granted.”

Danny Formal:
“This will be my first Roar Before the 24 and Rolex 24, and I’m super excited to be a part of the Racers Edge Motorsports with WTRAndretti and this amazing racing family, and to share the No 93 Harrison Contracting Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 with Ashton, Ryan and Kyle. We developed a great relationship in the test we did in early December, and I’m getting to know everyone on the Racers Edge crew. Their resume speaks for itself and I’m looking forward to being part of this Michelin Endurance Cup program this year in IMSA. I’m ready to give all I have, and hopefully in two weeks’ time, we’ll all have that shiny new Rolex.”

TILKE are the leading circuit designers having designed and constructed the majority of new circuits in Formula 1® and with wider experience of hundreds of motorsport projects around the world.

Will Power out of SunEnergy1 Daytona 24 line-up

Reigning NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion and former Indy 500 winner Will Power has withdrawn from next week’s Rolex 24 at Daytona due to family health reasons.

Power was set to make his Daytona debut with fellow American-based Australian Kenny Habul in the SunEnergy1 Racing Team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 on January 28-29, but his wife Liz has had some complications after surgery this week and remains in hospital.

Power will be replaced by regular SunEnergy1 driver Luca Stolz, who will join Habul and fellow German ace Fabian Schiller and Zimbabwean Axcil Jeffries in the GT Daytona (GTD) class.

WHAT WILL POWER HAS TO SAY…..

“Liz (wife) has had a couple of complications after surgery this week and has a long recovery ahead of her,” said Power.

“Obviously her health is my priority and unfortunately that means I have had to put Daytona on hold.

“I have to thank Kenny (Habul) for the opportunity and his total understanding of our situation and the support he has shown.

“I will be cheering them on from North Carolina and hopefully we get another opportunity to do something together in the future.”

WHAT KENNY HABUL HAS TO SAY….

“In these situations, it really goes without saying, that family comes first,” said Habul.

“The first priority is Liz and her health and we wish her the fastest recovery possible.

“Given our history racing against each other in Formula Ford in Australia all those years ago, it was going to be cool to drive with Will at Daytona, but I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities for us to team-up in the future.

“We welcome Luca (Stolz) to our Daytona line-up, who is no stranger to the SunEnergy1 team.”

Stolz teamed with Habul and Jules Gounon to win last year’s Bathurst 12-hour.

SunEnergy1 became the 61st and final entry for the 24-hour sports car endurance race last week, which also doubles as the 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship season-opener.

While Power was set to make his Daytona 24 debut next week, Habul will be having his sixth start in the American endurance classic, with the solar energy entrepreneur notching his best result of second in the GTD Class in 2021.

The Roar Before the 24 test will take place at Daytona International Speedway on January 20-22.

Following that, the 24 Hours of Daytona will take place at the same venue from January 28-29.
