Tips For Planning an Out-of-Town Thanksgiving Family Reunion

Every family has its own unique set of expectations and customs for their annual get-together. In some cases, relatives take advantage of the opportunity presented by a reunion to take a trip together. Some people look forward to spending time with their loved ones during the holidays because they get to participate in their favorite seasonal traditions. Take advantage of these once-in-a-lifetime occasions to spend time with loved ones, strengthen bonds, share stories, feast, and celebrate.

Consequently, if you are in charge of this year’s Thanksgiving family reunion, ensure that you understand how to plan an out-of-town family reunion. Here’s what you need to know about family reunions, as well as tips and ideas for activities that will make your event special and more memorable.

What Is a Family Reunion?

A family reunion is a gathering of immediate and extended family members that may be held annually on the same date or based on availability. Family reunions can serve as an opportunity for a family to stay connected and build ties, as well as an opportunity to travel. In addition, common activities and preparations for family reunions include outdoor excursions, shared meals, party games, and the exchange of family history and traditions.

Why Plan a Family Reunion

To reconnect with family.

Since many relatives now live in distant cities, states, or countries, gatherings like this are essential for keeping the family unit together. It’s a chance to check in on each other and see how everyone’s doing, and can even present an opportunity to reconnect with family members with whom you have lost contact. Employing a specialist service to trace a person can ensure that any long-lost relatives do not miss a reunion and the entire family will be able to spend some quality time together.

To honor ancestry.

Family reunions are occasions for people of all ages to come together. Through these, you may keep your family’s stories, recipes, and traditions alive and share them with future generations. New family traditions can typically be started at a family reunion, with the younger generation’s input valued and appreciated.

To celebrate a special occasion or memory of a loved one.

Reunions are a common way for many families to celebrate milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Furthermore, reunions are also a time for families who have lost a member over the year to come together and remember their loved ones.

To have fun.

Reuniting with loved ones can pay off in many ways. It’s a time to relax and reconnect with family and friends over delicious food and fun-filled activities.

Guidelines for Organizing a Thanksgiving Family Reunion

 1. Prepare in advance.

One year is the minimum time to plan for a major family reunion. Organizing a family gathering in advance allows everyone to request time off from work, figure out how to get there, and pick a date that works for most participants. If you are bringing along your children, it would be a good idea to ensure that they are properly looked after. You may already have a nanny or an au pair from such agencies as Go Au Pair to help you with your day-to-day, but this will bring in other family members, so it is essential that you co-ordinate this with your au pair, and see if you need to bring in any additional help for this time away.

 2. Create a financial budget.

Determine each family’s contribution to the budget in advance. You want to avoid shocking family members with a hefty bill at the end of the reunion.

 3. Provide date and location options.

When you’ve established a planning budget and timeline, send a survey to each family member to confirm their availability for specific dates and their preferred destination from the list provided.

 4. Send invitations ahead of time.

Send casual notifications as soon as possible and formal invitations six weeks in advance.

 5. Delegate specific tasks to other family members.

You will quickly become overwhelmed if you do not request assistance with reunion preparations. Planning committees may include representatives for finances, reservations, food management, travel and lodging, entertainment, and communications.

Fun  Out-of-Town Activities During Family Reunions

  • Family Olympics: What better way to show your family how competitive you all are than by holding your own family Olympics? Include contests and games based on Olympic events like relays or tug-of-war to make sure everyone has an excellent time.
  • Outdoor Movie Night: Watching a film under the stars is a great idea if you’re looking for a low-key way to commemorate your family reunion. Get together in a rustic barn or backyard with a projection screen under the stars.
  • Tour Around the Location: According to the experts from Black Mountain Limo, a family reunion doesn’t have to be held in one spot; you and your family can book a rental service and explore nearby museums, parks, restaurants, and nightlife hotspots.
  • Trivia Contest: Trivia night is a great way to discover who in your family knows their stuff. Set up a family trivia competition by dividing everyone into teams and having them compete in rounds of questions based on tried-and-true topics like favorite shows, bands, and movies.

Key Takeaway

Reunions are a great way to reconnect with long-lost relatives and learn about your family history and origins from all over the world. An unforgettable Thanksgiving family reunion results from effective teamwork, exciting pursuits, and meticulous planning. To plan a party that guests will talk about for years to come, consider the advice given above. Keep in mind that there is no perfect family gathering; what counts is that each guest feels appreciated and loved.

Usage-Based Insurance For Uber Drivers

Photo by Scott Graham on Unsplash

Anyone driving in the US or UK needs some form of vehicle insurance. The only real exceptions are for residents of New Hampshire and Virginia, though other policies are in place.

Since the arrival of ride-sharing, new types of insurance policies have had to be created. Many providers now use specifically designed policies for Uber drivers for instance. And considering the number of them, this is perhaps not so surprising.

It is estimated that around 118 million people use Uber every month, and last year saw a near-return to pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, there were 6.3 billion trips by Uber drivers. With this level of usage, there are bound to be some accidents, and ride-sharing is viewed by some insurance providers as a higher risk.

Because of this, some insurance companies have developed usage-based cover that encourages safe driving by rewarding drivers’ behavior behind the wheel.

Do Uber drivers need a different type of insurance?

Some companies lump Uber drivers in with other types of private hire insurance holders. This means those who offer driving services that are booked in advance. Private limousine drivers, delivery drivers, and taxis. But, only those that are pre-booked.

However, some providers offer specific Uber insurance that is tailored to ride-and-share. These policies often use modern technology to help drivers understand how they drive and how to improve. Coverage can vary based on the type of service offered, ranging from standard UberX rides to more premium tiers like Uber Executive. In these cases, insurance may need to account for higher vehicle values, elevated customer service standards, and stricter operational requirements.

What is usage-based insurance?

Every driver would like to see their insurance premiums lowered, and usage-based policies offer the chance for the car owner to be in control. Uber drivers typically cover 1,000 miles a week if they are working full time and due to the nature of their job they need good insurance cover.

Usage-based insurance uses vehicle telematics data to score driving behavior. Telematics uses GPS and cellular technology to monitor the miles traveled, speed, braking and accelerating, and other driving metrics. It also monitors telephone usage while driving.

The driver will receive a score, often with suggestions for improving their driving. Then the data is used to help calculate the cost of insurance premiums. Poor driving will signify a higher risk and therefore higher premiums. Good driving is rewarded with discounted insurance premiums.

Who uses usage-based insurance?

With all the different insurance policies floating about it can get confusing as to what you may qualify for and what is suitable. After all, who insures racing drivers?

Usage-based insurance, or UBI, is available to Uber drivers often through specific policies but many other people could benefit from UBI too. Apart from many Uber drivers, other hire and reward drivers could find suitable telematics policies. And these days UBI is offered to regular car owners as well.

What are the pros and cons of usage-based insurance for Uber drivers?

Not everyone is a fan of usage-based insurance, but there are significant benefits to those who drive carefully. There are some downsides too.

Research has shown that since ride-share began, fatal car accidents have risen by up to 3%. This isn’t necessarily an indictment against Uber drivers, but with the number of journeys and miles covered, there is more of a risk of accidents occurring. The review system also puts pressure on Uber drivers to arrive at pick-ups in a timely fashion which could potentially encourage less careful driving.

Pros to UBI

The main advantage of getting more Uber drivers to use UBI is that a reduction in car accidents may be seen. Depending on the system in place, tips may be sent to the driver. These hints to become a better driver can for some be very helpful. And as already mentioned, cheaper insurance may become available.

  • Lower insurance premiums
  • Improved driving skills
  • Reduction in car accidents

Cons to UBI

On the downside, some drivers don’t like the idea that Big Brother is watching. Therefore there are some privacy concerns. There is the risk of higher premiums, and there are some that question the accuracy of the data.

  • Potentially higher premiums
  • Privacy and security concerns
  • Accuracy of data

Regardless of potential downsides, the market for usage-based insurance is growing, as is the number of vehicle owners signing up for it. In 2021, the UBI market was worth around $19.6 billion globally. By 2026, the industry is expected to have grown to $66.8 billion.

Summary

Clearly, many drivers are seeing the advantages of using usage-based insurance, specifically Uber drivers. With some insurance providers drawing up policies that are aimed toward these ride-share workers, Uber drivers have the chance to be rewarded for their careful driving.

Although there remains the possibility of being flagged as a dangerous driver, UBI still offers the opportunity for individuals to learn and improve. When this happens, insurance premiums will be reduced, and overall this should lead to safer roads and fewer accidents.

ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team top a dramatic Qualifying 1 in Uruguay

ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team set the pace in the Uruguay Natural Energy X Prix, finishing top of the timesheets in a dramatic Qualifying 1 that saw rolls for two of the championship contenders.

26 November 2022, Uruguay: Laia Sanz and Carlos Sainz Snr. topped the timesheets with a time of 10:14.120 in a nail-biting first session which saw the top five teams separated by just 2.606 seconds.

Laia Sanz, ACCIONA | SAINZ XE Team, said: “We are happy. This track is quite tight, as we can see with the times, and I think it will be like this all the weekend.

“It won’t be easy to get those five championship points from the Continental Traction Challenge in the next session, as when we are racing with more cars it will be really tough to improve the times. We will see though – anything can happen.”

Championship leaders Rosberg X Racing (RXR) and nearest challengers X44 Vida Carbon Racing both suffered setbacks in their title chase, as rolls for Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinksy and Cristina Gutiérrez leaves their teams with plenty of work ahead of Q2.

There was a total of three red flags in the session, with a similar incident for JBXE’s Hedda Hosås as the drivers found the limits of the three-kilometre course in Punta del Este.

A new driver line-up propelled Veloce Racing to second in the Q1 standings. Molly Taylor and Kevin Hansen temporarily topped the timesheets in their debuts for the team but were pipped at the post by just 0.563 seconds.

No.99 GMC HUMMER EV Chip Ganassi Racing were third, stealing a spot in the top three from ABT CUPRA XE who finished 0.219 seconds behind the American team despite a five-second time penalty for a Switch Zone infringement. Genesys Andretti United Extreme E maintained their strong start to proceedings in Uruguay as they rounded out the quick top five.

Slightly further adrift in sixth were NEOM McLaren Extreme E, who completed a clean run after a roll in Free Practice for Emma Gilmour, while in seventh were XITE ENERGY Racing as just 16.043 seconds separated the seven finishing teams.

It could not be much closer as the teams head into the second session, and with Qualifying 2 fast approaching find out where you can watch the action here.

Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing, said: We have a good car, I was very comfortable with it out there. The team has done a fantastic job on the set up, I really enjoyed driving it and I tried not to take too much of a risk as I had seen other teams having a bit of an issue.”

Mikaeala Åhlin-Kottulinksy, Rosberg X Racing, said: “I came up and had too much weight on the outer wheel and just rolled. Hopefully our car should be ready for Q2, and timing wise we were fine, so we take the good parts with us, make some changes, and work from there.”

Sébastien Loeb, X44 Vida Carbon Racing, said: “We’ve seen three of the cars on the track roll, so I think the grip is too high for our centre of gravity and if you want to push in the corner, you roll.
“I saw Cristina’s roll from afar and saw the car jumping around so there could be some damage. We will see if we are okay to go out in Q2 – let’s hope so.”

Hedda Hosås, JBXE, said: “Of course, it’s not the way we wanted the weekend to start. I think there was a small bump, and it’s hard to save that when you’re going uphill. We’re going to look at the onboard and study what happened properly. The team is working really hard so we should be fine.”

BRODY ROA WRAPS UP THE 2022 CAMPAIGN IN THE TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX AT VENTURA

Brody Roa in Jayson May's #8M. SCRAFAN.COM Photo.

(Cypress, CA, November 25, 2022) Southern California racing veteran Brody Roa will close out another successful season tonight and Saturday, November 25th and 26th, in the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series at the 81st running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway. The veteran driver will be back behind the wheel of Jayson May’s gorgeous #8M sprint car that has already carried him to a pair of victories in 2022.

Roa’s prowess at Ventura and in May’s car makes him one of the favorites in this week’s race. In two appearances at the beach side track in 2022, he has a win and a second-place finish. Driving his own #91R car in a USAC/CRA race on June 11th, Roa ended up second in the main event. He was clearly the fastest car on the track, but on the night, the track was one lane on the bottom. Rather than wreck the first-place car and possibly take himself out as well, Roa wisely settled for second. Two months later, he steered May’s car to the USAC West Coast Series main event win on the tiny, challenging oval that is located a stone’s throw away from the breaking surf of the Pacific Ocean.

After returning from Indiana Sprint week, Roa jumped into May’s 360 and led every inch of the way in the USAC/CRA 410 race at the grand re-opening of the Santa Maria Raceway on August 6th. His other 2022 appearances in May’s equipment came in early February in a pair of CAS/ASCS events at the Central Arizona Speedway. The first night Roa had the main event in the bag, but the competition was plagued by an exorbitant amount of yellow flags and Roa ran out of fuel near the end of the race. He restarted at the rear and came back through the field to finish fifth. Twenty-four hours later he placed second on the same track.

Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. each day at Ventura with cars on the track at 3:15. The sprint cars will have heats and a dash for cash on Friday. On Saturday, they will have preliminary main events and a $3,000.00 to win A main. The USAC National Midgets will join the action with practice on Friday. On Saturday, the midgets will qualify, contest preliminaries, and finish the night with the historic 98-lap main event. The Ventura Raceway is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard (93001). The website is http://venturaraceway.com/ and the office phone number is (805) 648-RACE. Friday night adult tickets are $22.00. Seniors, military, and students get in for $18.00, and it is free for kids under 12 on Friday. On Saturday, reserved seats are $45.00 for those 13 and older. Reserved seats for those 12 and under are $25.00. General admission tickets are $35.00.

Roa comes into the event after ending the 410 sprint car portion of his 2022 season at the 26th running of the Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway. The first night of the Ovals saw the Garden Grove, California racecar chauffeur being the most competitive of the local drivers at the race on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay Oval. In qualifying in the stellar 40-car field that showed up for the last USAC National and USAC/CRA race of 2022, Roa only managed to qualify 18th fastest. He shrugged off the time trials result with a convincing win in the first heat race of the three-day event.

For the 30-lap main, Roa, 31 started in the ninth spot. Racing in the toughest field on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval in 2022, the veteran driver was the highest-running USAC/CRA driver in the field. He was just behind the USAC National Series regulars in the early part of the race. As the laps dwindled down, he began to infiltrate the invaders and advance toward the front of the pack. Running on the top, which had an unforgiving cushion, he was in the sixth spot with two laps to go when the cushion bit him and sent the #91R careening into the wall. Roa looked at the car, saw little damage, and climbed back in. He restarted at the back and ended up 16th.

On the second night at the Ovals, Roa qualified 22nd fastest. He backed that up with a third-place finish in his heat race. That gave him his second straight ticket into the 30-lap main event. The veteran driver started that race in 20th and finished 17th.

The tangle with the cushion on Thursday, combined with the 17th place finish on Friday, meant that Roa would have to qualify again on Saturday and make it to the main event through his heat race or the B main. The affable racing star was the ninth-quickest qualifier and placed third in his heat. That automatically sent him into the A main for the third consecutive night.

For the 40-lap championship main event, Roa started in the 10th place spot and was 11th when the checkered flag ended the contest and the 410 season. That was the best performance by a USAC/CRA driver in the race.

Roa and the team want to thank the following sponsors for making the 2022 season possible. HD Industries, Burris Racing, Sander Engineering, Inland Rigging, Caltrol, “Biker” Bruce Fischer, Competition Suspension, ALR Virtual Services, K-1 Race Gear, Molecule, Rod End Supply, Driven Racing Oil, Baldwin Filters, and NGK Spark Plugs. In addition, the veteran driver offers thanks to RDM Mechanics, Fastenal, KC Keen Concrete, Coopers Propane, Ten West Towing, Ten West Environmental, TJM Distribution, and Westco International for sponsoring May’s #8M.

If you or your company would like to jump on board and receive recognition as a team partner throughout 2023, please give the two-time USAC champion racer a phone call or drop him a note at the contact information on the top of this release.

The Best EVs to Buy Today

Electric vehicles (EVs) have come a long way in the last decade. Once relegated to a niche market, EVs are now a viable option for mainstream consumers thanks to advancements in technology and a growing network of charging infrastructure. If you’re in the EV market, you should consider a few things before purchasing. Here are the best EVs you can buy today.

What to Consider When Purchasing an EV

Range

Most EVs today can travel between 100 and 300 miles on a single charge, with some models exceeding 400 miles. Recharge times vary depending on the make and model of the EV as well as the type of charger used, but most can be fully recharged in under eight hours.

Cost

The initial cost of an EV is often more than that of a comparable gas-powered car, but lower operating costs over time can make up for the difference. Factors like government incentives, fuel, and maintenance costs should be considered when comparing the total cost of ownership of an EV to that of a gasoline-powered car.

Charging Infrastructure

One of the key considerations when purchasing an EV is whether there is adequate charging infrastructure where you live and work. Although public chargers are increasing in availability, home charging remains the most convenient option. For Tesla owners, installing a tesla charger in your garage ensures they always have a charge when needed. If you don’t have access to home charging, you’ll want to make sure there are public chargers near your home and workplace so you can quickly recharge your EV when needed.

Best EVs You Can Buy Today

Tesla Model S

If you’re looking for the creme de la creme of EVs, look no further than the Tesla Model S. This luxury sedan has a sleek design, a spacious interior, and a long range. It can travel up to 370 miles on a single charge and go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Plus, it comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a Tesla vehicle, including autopilot capabilities, Ludicrous Mode, and over-the-air software updates. It has a mid-range price of $75,000.

Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is the Tesla Model S’s chief competitor. Like the Model S, it’s a luxury sedan with a sleek design and plenty of features. It has two electric motors (one in the front and one in the rear) that generate 616 horsepower, enabling it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Its battery pack allows it to travel up to 201 miles on a single charge. The only downside? Its price tag-starting at $103,800, it’s one of the most expensive EVs on the market today.

Jaguar I-PACE

If you’re looking for an EV SUV, consider the Jaguar I-PACE. It has two electric motors that generate 394 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Plus, its 90 kWh battery pack gives it an estimated 234 miles per charge range. Prices start at $69,850.

Audi e-Tron

The Audi e-Tron is another excellent option if you’re looking for an EV SUV. It has two electric motors that generate 355 horsepower, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, and its 95 kWh battery provides an estimated range of 204 miles per charge. Prices start at $74,800.

 Kia Soul EV

Last but not least is the Kia Soul EV. This hatchback is a great option if you’re looking for an affordable EV -it starts at just $33,950. It has a range of 111 miles per charge thanks to its 64 kWh battery, and it can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. It has many standard features, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

If you want to improve your EV further, consider making these upgrades.

Window Tint

Most cars in the market come with a tint, but many are dark enough to raise the temperature inside your car. Window tint is great for hot climates as it can help keep your vehicle cool, even without air conditioning. Get a quotation from your local auto window tinting service, and find out what tint fits your EV. Once you get the right one, you never have to worry about the heat from outside your car again.

Mobile Charger

Many drivers don’t consider investing in a mobile charger for their vehicles because they expect to find chargers at home and driving around town. However, it’s always good to be prepared just in case. Mobile chargers are compact and portable–so easy to use wherever you go! Look online for reviews of the best mobile chargers for your EV, and make sure to invest in one if you want to stay charged up all the time.

So there you have it-the best EVs you can buy today! Whether you’re looking for a sedan, SUV, or hatchback, there’s an EV out there that’s perfect for you. Choosing one and upgrading it can make it more comfortable, making it a supreme vehicle that can help you save money while also saving the environment.

Course revealed for Season 2 finale in Uruguay

Extreme E has revealed its exciting final course ahead of the championship finale in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

24 November 2022, Uruguay: With each lap just under 3km long, the South American course will put our world class drivers to the test. The teams’ drivers will cover half the race length each, taking on changing gradients and undulations, high-speed corners and a number of overtaking opportunities.

It should prove to be a fitting setting for an exciting Extreme E season – with four teams still in the running to win this year’s championship.

Timo Scheider, Extreme E Championship Driver, describes Extreme E’s final course of Season 2.

Timo explains: “We have what I think is a very exciting starting area down to Waypoints 1 and 2. It is a wide open, slightly downhill slope into the first drop which will create some action. The good thing here is that we will have a side-by-side situation for up to five cars. Then, we enter the ditch and jumping out of that, the cars will likely still be next to each other.

“Entering Turn 1, a ninety-degree right hander, it looks easy but it is a grass field so you will notice that we have very slippery conditions, even though the track is dry. This will affect the driving lines and affect the cars significantly in terms of grip, so the drivers are going to have to work hard to manage that.

“The first sector is the fastest, so there we will see who can adapt quickest to the track conditions in that area. I expect plenty of track evolution as the drivers run lines into the course and form ruts, so they will have to hit the line perfectly otherwise they will have to fight hard to recover. I also expect next to the line it will remain very slippery so we will likely see the cars sliding all over the place.

“The following sector is a more technical part, so the drivers have to hit the brakes and get the rotation right to position the car well to get through the intricate corners.

“Then the drivers enter the midfield straight which includes a nice spot for the ENOWA Hyperdrive. Here the drivers exit the straight, which is an overtaking opportunity, into what feels like a nearly 180-degree right hand corner. This leads into a high-speed jump, where the car runs smoothly before coming back into another technical area with uphill and downhill spots. A tight left-hander follows as the drivers prepare for a final jump that guides them either into the Switch Zone or across the finish line.

“Looking at the course overall, especially with the championship picture in mind, lap times will be super tight and to adapt driving styles and adapt the cars will be a pretty big challenge.

“It is tricky to be consistently quick and hit the right line all the time here, and that’s something which is made more difficult the more cars you have around you.”

As usual, each driver will get a chance to deploy their ENOWA Hyperdrive as tactically as possible as they all look to get an edge out on course.

Meanwhile, the Continental Traction Challenge will be as crucial as ever. Running from Way Point 5 to Way Point 13, being quickest through this section over the weekend will be absolutely pivotal with five extra points up grabs, especially so for the series’ four title contenders this weekend.

You can watch the Extreme E Season 2 title-decider in Punta del Este this weekend (26-27 November) and find out where you can catch all of the action here.

THE DUMOULIN COMPETITION “RACE AGAINST CANCER” 2022 CAMPAIGN EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS: $ 116,041 OVER SEVEN SEASONS

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin reports on his 2022 season

Trois-Rivieres, (Quebec, Canada), November 24, 2022. When Dumoulin Competition launched the seventh season of the “Race Against Cancer” fundraiser, the team did not expect that all records would be broken in 2022. Our goal was to reach $ 100,000 in total donations to the “Quebec Cancer Foundation”. The call to action was answered by people, companies and organizations who have believed in our program from the beginning, and we raised a record amount of $ 24 144 for the year, for a grand total of $ 116,041 over the seven seasons (2016-2022).

We are eminently grateful to all of you…

“An impressive amount has been raised over the years, a great achievement for all who contributed. When we first got involved, we had no idea that it would grow to this size and that so many people would join us in our cause. To see that all of us working towards a common goal, with donations of all kinds, have exceeded our goal. Thank you all for your generosity. Again, this year, our team has lost friends, Jean Beauchesne and Claudette Renaud. Others are currently facing cancer, like Bernard Pilon, another member of our team. We know intimately how difficult it is to live through those losses! These people and their loved ones all need support to live with this monstrous disease,” according to Jean-Francois and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Luce Girard (Director, Regional Centre and Hosting for the Mauricie) underlined the generosity of Dumoulin Competition and of those who join the movement each year. “Once again, the Dumoulin brothers and their group of friends and volunteers have shown immense generosity. Over the past 7 years, their commitment, creativity and involvement have raised over $110,000 for Quebecers affected by cancer. Thanks to their contribution, the Quebec Cancer Foundation continues its mission to offer support, care and comforting to thousands of people and their loved ones whose lives are affected by cancer.”

2022 activities as part of the “Grand défoulement à ma façon” accomplished by Dumoulin Competition’s “Race Against Cancer” campaign.

Individual donations were made, either directly on the platform or by signing the trunk lids of Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin’s cars at races and promotional events. Organized fundraising activities also took place in parallel:

On March 24, the seventh (7th) edition of “The Race Against Cancer” was launched during a Cocktail Hour meeting, organized by Guy Brousseau, a long-time friend of the Dumoulin family, at Les Contrebandiers restaurant in Trois-Rivieres. A total of $ 3,200 was raised.

The employees of Groupe Somavrac have been raising funds since 2016. This year, they contributed $ 5,000 to the cause.

“Contributing in our own way to the Dumoulin ‘Race against cancer’ for the past seven years is our way to honour all the Groupe Sovramac employees who have been touched by cancer in one way or another over the years. The owners and our whole team are aware of the cause, and they know that every dollar donated can make a difference to the Foundation,” according to Groupe Somavrac employees.

A partnership was developed with K-DOGS to provide meals in the centre of the track at Edmonton International Raceway on July 23. K-DOGS generously provided meals in exchange for a donation. NASCAR Pinty’s Series teams and track employees participated, raising a total of $ 2,200.

On August 23, Dumoulin Competition threw the ceremonial first pitch at an “Aigles de Trois-Rivières” baseball game, and the team raised $ 820 from the fans.

On October 15, the third edition of the “La Classique des 6 heures de Silverstone”, a virtual enduro organized by Sylvain Bernier and his partners was run. Twenty-five teams, totalling 60 drivers, took to the virtual Silverstone track. The event was a success beyond all expectations, with participants, partners and spectators raising a total of $ 4,500.

“The race has grown as an event to a level we didn’t expect at all. The bar was set high, and we reached our goals working together. It’s incredible! I would like to acknowledge the contribution of Bruno Pichette who helped us with the videos and photos. Thank you all for your contribution and see you in the fall of 2023 for a fourth edition of the Enduro to benefit the ‘Race against cancer’,” explains Sylvain Bernier, founder and owner of Sly Sim Racing.

LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN REVIEWS HIS 2022 RACING SAISON

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team have a positive feeling about their 2022 season, given the challenges they faced over the season: a new Crew Chief, and racing in two tracks for the first time without information on the track layout and appropriate set-ups.

“The 2022 season did not live up to our expectations, particularly in relation to a series of events coupled with incidents sometimes beyond our control. We performed well on the track: consistently in the lead pack, fastest lap, pole position and podium finishes. The winning potential of the WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare team was and will always be there. When we face this type of season together, it serves to remind us of how competitive the NASCAR Pinty’s Series is and makes us appreciate the value and recognition for the championships we have won over the years. See you in 2023!” said three-time series champion Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

Many Thanks to each one of you!

Allow us to once again to express the team’s gratitude towards our partners, family, friends, team members and their families, as well as all the supporters and media who keep encouraging us and believing in our dreams and our goals. We are convinced that we will come back stronger in 2023, with new projects, because like all of you, our motto “Passion – Performance – Partnerships” drives us every day.

Please continue to follow us on social media. We love to hear from you!
