US RaceTronics Competing at NOLA This Weekend in Both Lamborghini Super Trofeo and SRO

O’Gara Motorsport / Change Racing / USRT Drivers Looking to Add More Points and Podiums

Monrovia, California (Thursday, May 19, 2022) – After successful season openers in Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Laguna Seca and SRO at Sonoma, both O’Gara Motorsport / Change Racing / USRT teams return to the track this weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park near New Orleans..

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Pro drivers Edoardo Piscopo and Patrick Kujala head into the weekend with a one point lead in the North American Championship after the first round. The pair started on the pole and finished in second-place in the first race of the season Laguna Seca and went on to win the second race of the weekend in the Arrow-sponsored No. 50 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills entry after starting seventh.

SRO Pro duo Steve Aghakhani and Loris Spinelli started their season at Sonoma Raceway last month in their No. 6 SADA Mercedes AMG. The pair, who qualified fourth for Race 1, drove a great race finishing in second place in their first race of the season. The No. 6 started on pole for Sunday’s race, but encountered some difficulties and ultimately finished fifth in class. Regardless of the disappointing finish in Race 2, the pair sits just two points out of second place in the championship and are confident that they’ll have the results necessary to move them up in the points this weekend.

Back over in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, Damon Ockey and Patrick Liddy return in the No. 8 VF Engineering Lamborghini of San Diego. Liddy scored an impressive overall pole for the pair in Sunday’s race, but the duo had some issues in the second half of the race and finished just off the podium. They enter this weekend fifth in Pro Am, but are only five points behind the third-place competitors in their class. Both drivers are looking forward to this weekend and expect to move higher up in the points standing before leaving NOLA.

John Hennessy entered the season as an LB Cup driver, but his speed on the track in early practices had him quickly moved up to AM class. Hennessy scored a podium in the No. 33 Arrow / O’Gara / Change Racing / USRT Lamborghini of Charlotte in his first race in the more competitive class and enters this weekend third in the AM championship. After testing last week at the track, Hennessy is confident he’s looking at another successful race weekend.

Ofir Levy and Jon Hirshberg are also back for this weekend’s competition at NOLA Motorsports Park. The LB Cup duo scored two podium finishes at Laguna Seca in the No. 13 MexiWood / Dakine Lamborghini of Rancho Mirage. They currently sit second in the LB Cup championship, but are only two points behind the leader.

The weekend will be a busy one for the O’Gara Motorsport / Change Racing / USRT team starting with tests for both Lamborghini Super Trofeo and SRO today. Practice for both series starts bright and early Friday morning followed by qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, with Race 2 on Sunday. Come out and cheer for your favorite O’Gara Motorsport / Change Racing / USRT driver if you’re in the area.

Quotes:

Steven Aghakhani – “I’m super excited! We’re finally getting back out in the #6 SADA Systems, Gotham sponsored, US RaceTronics powered Mercedes AMG GT3 at NOLA Motorsports Park. Everyone on the team, including myself, is more than prepared for this upcoming race weekend. Everyone had a very large learning curve at Sonoma and we are ready to go and show what we learned.”

Patrick Kujala – “After a successful weekend at Laguna Seca we will try to carry this momentum into NOLA. Everyone in the team is working extremely hard to get another good result.”

Edoardo Piscopo – “This will be my first time at NOLA. I look forward to learning the track, adjusting the setup to a very different circuit and keeping up the momentum from Laguna Seca. We still have 10 rounds to go therefore consistency is everything.”

Damon Ockey – “Looking forward to our next round at NOLA. We had some bad luck at Laguna with Safety Cars and driver contact but are ready to push forward. Liddy has shown he has the pace, I am a little off pace having been out of the car for 2 seasons.”

John Hennessy – “I suspect with the unpredictable weather conditions, lack of track time for most drivers and the large field, this will be one of our more exciting races this season. My goal is to stay focused, drive a clean race and get on the podium for the Team!”

David Cozart – Team Manager Lamborghini Super Trofeo – “The team is excited and looking forward to the NOLA weekend. A lot of the guys have put in some serious hours over all our US Racetronics programs and have accomplished an extraordinary amount of work in the last couple of months – hats off to them. Our four new Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo 2’s performed above expectations at the Laguna Seca and we look to carry that momentum forward at NOLA . Having partners like Arrow Electronics, VF Engineering, MexiWood, Dakine, O’Gara Motorsport and Change Racing have given us a strong foundation to launch into the 2022 season to challenge in all four categories of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series this year.”

Nemechek #Back4More in 2022:

Defending race winner John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 4 team turn their focus to Texas Motor Speedway for Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 220. In last week’s Heart of America 200 at Kansas speedway, Nemechek brought home a sixth-place finish, marking the fifth straight race that he has finished sixth or better. In that five-race span, the talented wheelman has moved up three spots in the Championship Standings to second and has cut his deficit down to 20 points behind reigning champion Ben Rhodes.

In NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition at Texas, Nemechek has six starts. Through his first six starts, Nemechek has compiled one win, 73 laps led, one top-five and two top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.8. In 2021, Nemechek started from the pole and led a race-high 64 laps in route to his fourth win of the season. The talented wheelman was also victorious in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Texas last October, leading a race-high 92 laps behind the wheel of Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 54 Camry en route to his second career series victory. Across four career Xfinity Series starts at the 1.5-mile quad-oval he has one win, 98 laps led, three top-five and four top-10 finishes. In two NASCAR Cup Series starts at Texas, Nemechek has an average finish of 21.7 and earned a best finish of 21st in the 2019 fall event.

Through the first eight races of 2022, Nemechek leads all Camping World Truck Series regulars in average starting position (6.4) and average running position (6.603), is tied for second in top-five finishes (four), and is third in stage wins (three), laps led (157), and driver rating (105.2). Nemechek has also led at least one lap in six out of the first eight events.

Tom Thumb/Albertsons will make their first start in the Camping World Truck Series onboard Nemechek’s No. 4 Tundra TRD Pro at Texas. Albertson Companies is one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States, with over 2,200 stores in 34 states and are committed to making a meaningful difference, one neighborhood at a time.

Nemechek is a 12-time winner in Camping World Truck Series action, winning at least one race each season from 2015 to 2018 for his family-owned team, NEMCO Motorsports, and returning to victory lane in 2021 with KBM. Across 132 career starts in NASCAR’s third division, he has compiled five poles, 1,338 laps led, 44 top-five and 71 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.5.

Eric Phillips returned to lead the No. 4 team in 2022. His 42 career Truck Series victories make him the winningest crew chief in Truck Series history, with 34 of those coming while at KBM including five last year. Phillips led the No. 18 team at KBM in its debut season in 2010 and helped build the organization into one of the premier teams in all of NASCAR before departing at the end of the 2014 season. Under his guidance, the No. 18 team won eight races in its inaugural campaign and became the first team in Truck Series history to capture an owner’s championship in its first season of competition. In 2014, the Illinois native led the No. 51 team to an owner’s championship and his team’s 10 wins spearheaded KBM to a single-season Truck Series record of 14 wins. Phillip’s has been calling the shots for 20 starts at Texas. In those 20 starts, his drivers have tallied four wins (Clint Bowyer – 2006, Kyle Busch – 2011 & 2014, and John Hunter Nemechek – 2021), 340 laps led, seven top-five, and 12 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 11.4.

John Hunter Nemechek, Driver Q&A:
We are halfway through the regular season; how would you grade your season so far?
“Feel like we are in a decent spot. We don’t have as many wins as last year, but we’re headed in the right direction as the season has progressed.”

You won both the Truck Series and Xfinity Series race at Texas last year; how much confidence does that give you going into Friday’s race?
“I like Texas and have had a lot of success there. It will be different this year being a night race, last year they were both day races but it’s a racetrack I’ve always enjoyed going to. We’re hoping to be able to go back-to-back at Texas in the trucks and get the second win of the year.”

How does Texas compare to the other mile-and-a-half tracks on the schedule this year?
“It’s completely different with the repave. The corners are different from one another, Turns 1 and 2 are flat and super wide while Turns 3 and 4 have more banking and it’s a tighter corner. We don’t race there anymore but the track I would compare it to would be Kentucky.”

John Hunter Nemechek Career Highlights:

  • Twelve-time winner in Camping World Truck Series action, winning at least one race each season from 2015 to 2018 for his family-owned team, NEMCO Motorsports. Across 131 career starts in NASCAR’s third division, has compiled five poles, 1,338 laps led, 44 top-five and 71 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.5. Registered a career-high and series-leading five victories in 2021 and earned the NCWTS Regular Season championship and third in the final standings after qualifying for the Championship Four for the first time in his career.
  • Produced three top-10 finishes and an average result of 22.4 while competing for rookie of the year honors in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020. He recorded a career-best eighth-place finish twice, both coming at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

John Hunter Nemechek’s No. 4 Tom Thumb/Albertsons Tundra TRD Pro:

KBM-56: The No. 4 team will unload KBM-56 for Friday night’s race at Texas Motor Speedway. Nemechek piloted KBM-56 once earlier this season at Las Vegas (N.V.) Motor Speedway where he earned the pole and led 23 laps before a late-race incident relegated him to a 25th-place finish. The second-generation driver wheeled KBM-56 in three races in 2021 including his win at Pocono last June.

KBM Notes of Interest:

  • KBM holds the Camping World Truck Series records for most career wins (93) and most wins in a single season (14 in 2014). With his victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 19, Corey Heim became the 18th different driver to win a Truck Series event for KBM. In addition to collecting a series-record seven Owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).
  • The No. 4 has 17 career victories at KBM and was the number for both of the organization’s driver championships.

How to Prepare for Truck Windscreen Repairs

Your truck’s windshield is a critical part of your vehicle. However, it is prone to damage resulting from cracks from things falling on the glass. In this case, you should replace the windscreen even when you can only spot slight cracks and chips. Otherwise, they can compromise the structural integrity of the glass. Are you seeking windscreen replacement and repairs? Here are a few tips to help you get ready.

1. Call your insurance provider

Call your insurance agent as soon as you notice the damage to your windshield and inform them of the situation. The insurance company may cover the repairs and replacement for windscreens but this depends on your policy. You also need to take images to generate a visual record of the cracks and chips and mail them to your insurance carrier. Also, write down the date and place of the occurrence.

2. Plan appropriately

Installing a windshield can take up to two hours. Make alternate transportation plans if you are not expecting to wait at the shop. The technicians should give you an expected completion time to prepare ahead when you bring your auto. Allow at least an hour after that to avoid disruptions and make adequate preparations to provide an effective repair process.

3. Avoid DIY Repairs

While a lot of auto parts stores sell windshield repair kits, they are far less successful than a professional windshield replacement. These kits are often only suitable for minor chips and are not ideal for significant cracks. Incorrect application of the patches and the sealant mixture could further the damage to the glass, and allow water inside the car. Ideally, you curb DIY Repairs if possible.

4. Contact reputable shops

As your truck insurance carrier may supply you with a list of recommended businesses, you are not obligated to use them. If you’re researching, look for state-licensed shops to replace windshields. The best are members of trade associations who adhere to industry standards for safe replacement and high-quality services. Also, with a reputable company, you get warranties for any complications that might arise.

5. Clean dirt and debris

A basic fix might become more complicated if dirt gets into the fracture. That isn’t to say you should wash the vehicle every day. If water gets into the fracture, you may have to make some replacements. Instead, use clear packing tape to keep dirt and moisture out of the crack.

6. Park away from the sun

Park the truck indoors, away from the rain and the sun, which can cause the windscreen to heat up and allow the crack to grow.

Careful driving is another way of preparation. For instance, your truck might be in a critical injury necessitating immediate repair. Therefore, you find yourself in a position to work with your vehicle before seeking repair or replacement. Exercising caution when driving will help avoid the cracks growing more extensive.

Wrapping up

Some repairs for your truck are necessary and must be taken from a profound perspective. Windscreen replacement and repair need enough preparation before the actual task. The discussed tips will help you be fully prepared for the job.

NASCAR All-Star Race format

The annual NASCAR Cup Series All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway will headline the racing action this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway as 24 drivers compete for the $1 million prize.

There are 20 drivers eligible who have won a points-paying race in 2021 or 2022 or are previous winners of the All-Star race and are competing full-time this year.

Any previous Cup Series champion who is competing full-time this season is also eligible.

Qualifying – Saturday, May 21:

Qualifying for the drivers that are already locked into the All-Star Race will include two rounds. In the first round, drivers will run a single lap with a lineup that is in reverse order of the current owner points. The top eight will transfer to an elimination round.

The second (elimination) round will feature four groups of two cars each. Each pairing will have to complete a four-tire pit stop in side-by-side pit stalls set up near the end of pit road. When finished and the jacks drop, it will be a race back onto the track. There will be no speed limit on pit road and the first car back to the start-finish line will advance to the next round. The final pairing will then compete for the pole.

Drivers who are eliminated in the Round of 8 will start in positions 5-8 based on their lap speeds from Round 1 of qualifying. Drivers eliminated in the Round of 4 will start in positions 3 and 4 based on their one-lap speeds.

The All-Star Open– Sunday, May 22:

Three additional drivers will be added to the All-Star Race lineup in the All-Star Open which will precede the main event. The first and second stages will consist of 20 laps each with a final third stage of 10 laps.

The winners of Stage 1 and Stage 2 plus the All-Star Open event winner will advance to the All-Star Race. The winner of the Fan Vote will complete the field of 24 drivers.

The All-Star Race – Sunday, May 22:

The race will have four stages of 25-25-25-50 laps. The Stage 1 winner will start on the pole in the final stage as long as they finish 15th or better in Stages 2 and 3.

The Stage 2 winner will start second in the final stage if they finish 15th or better in Stage 3.

After Stage 2, there will be a pit stop competition and each team must perform a four-tire pit stop. The team with the fastest time, in an out of the pit, will win the pit crew award and the driver will start fourth in the final stage as long as they finish 15th or better in Stage 3.

The winner of Stage 3 will start third in the final stage.

During the final stage, there will be a special provision concerning cautions. If caution occurs between laps 15-25, the race will conclude under normal race procedures. If there is no caution during that time, NASCAR will implement an “All-Star” competition caution.

You can watch all of the NASCAR Cup Series action on FS1 with radio coverage provided by MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio this weekend.

Motorcraft/DEX Team Aiming for All-Star Berth at Texas

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Motorcraft Quick Lane/DEX Imaging team are hoping to build on their recent speed on intermediate-length tracks as they compete in the NASCAR All-Star Race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

The rookie Burton is not assured of a starting spot in the main event, so he’ll have to either race his way in through the preliminary NASCAR All-Star Open or be voted in by fans.

Crew chief Brian Wilson said he and the crew are looking forward to the challenge.

“Everyone on the No. 21 is excited for the All-Star weekend,” Wilson said. “The format is always fun and entertaining.

“All-Star qualifying should be wild to watch with the pit crews included in setting the field.”

Wilson said the All-Star activities at Texas will give the Motorcraft/DEX team a chance to use the knowledge gained on similar length tracks at Kansas and Darlington. And it will give the team an opportunity to add to their notes headed into the next points-paying race – the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“Two weeks ago we had a solid 14th-place finish [at Darlington] and ran in the top 15 late in the race last week [at Kansas] as well,” Wilson said. “We’ll continue to build on our intermediate setups with confidence that we’ll contend for a transfer spot from the All-Star Open.”

And if that doesn’t work out, there’s a Plan B.

“I encourage all of the Ford fans to cast their votes for Harrison in the fan vote and tune in Sunday night,” Wilson said.

A practice session for Burton and the other Open drivers is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. (7 p.m. Eastern Time), followed by qualifying just after 6:30 (7:30 Eastern). Each driver will run one lap.

Then on Sunday, the NASCAR Open is scheduled to get the green flag just after 4:30 p.m. (5:30 Eastern). The race will consist of two 20-lap segments followed by a 10-lap run.

The winners of each segment, plus the winner of the fan vote, will advance to the All-Star Race, which is set to start just after 7 p.m. (8 p.m. Eastern).

That race will consist of three 25-lap segments followed by a 50-lap finale, with the winner earning $1 million.

FOX Sports 1 will carry the coverage both days.

FR America Drivers Look to Repeat Road America Success

Several FR Americas drivers are looking to repeat prior success at Road America this weekend. Dylan Tavella (No. 14 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), the only driver in the field with past FR Americas experience at Road America, won Race 1 at the Wisconsin road course last year. As the series’ most recent victor with a win at NOLA Motorsports Park last month, Tavella is looking to go back-to-back this weekend. Mac Clark (No. 25 Future Star Racing Ligier JS F3) had one of his most successful F4 U.S. weekends while visiting Road America last year. The Canadian won two of the three F4 U.S. races and jump-started his campaign to become the series’ Vice Champion. Nico Christodoulou (No. 22 VRD Racing Ligier JS F3) won the third race in F4 U.S. competition at Road America last year. A rookie in FR Americas, the 17-year-old is looking for his first podium of the 2022 season. Another driver with prior success at Road America is Alex Kirby (No. 8 Doran-Kroll Competition Ligier JS F3), who also happens to be a SAG member for stunt and performance driving. Kirby won on the Wisconsin circuit while competing in the Porsche Pirelli GT3 Cup series.

Three FR Americas Races, Three Winners at NOLA

FR Americas kicked off their 2022 season last month at NOLA in a weekend that saw three different winners in the three races. Mac Clark won Race 1 to mark his first victory in his first series start. PMH Powering Diversity Scholarship recipient, Raoul Hyman (No. 27 Bethesda Holdings Limited / Solomon Capital Enterprises / Oaklands / Kinross Ligier JS F3), won in Race 2 after leading practice, qualifying, and starting on the pole for all three of the weekend’s races. After finishing third and second, respectively, in the first two races, Dylan Tavella finally snapped a 16-race winless streak with his victory in Race 3.

Championship Rivalries Begin to Form

With Dylan Tavella and Raoul Hyman finishing on the podium in each of the three races at NOLA, the points battle is already heating up in FR Americas. Tavella and Hyman are currently tied for first with 58 points, trailed closely by Mac Clark with 50 points. Ryan Yardley (No. 78 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), follows with 30 points, and Jason Alder (No. 77 Drive for Diabetes Awareness / HAKUN Ligier JS F3), rounds out the top five with 28 points.

Highlighting IGY6 Motorsports during Military Appreciation Month

When Brandon Graham got out the United States Marine Corps (USMC), he wasn’t sure which way to turn; but then, he found racing.

“For lack of a better word, I was depressed,” said Graham, co-owner of IGY6 Motorsports. “I didn’t have all the things the military gave me—the camaraderie, the brotherhood, all that stuff. I had a friend who was in racing that said, ‘Hey, why don’t you come give this a shot.’ So, I did and it just checked all the boxes for me. I’ve been doing it ever since.”

Graham is in his sixth season working in motorsports. This year, he joined fellow veterans Clark Bowlsbey (United States Navy) and Jonathan Hilderman (USMC) as partners in IGY6 Motorsports. The team’s name is short for “I Got Your Six,” a term meaning “I’ve got your back.” All of the partners and crew members are veterans, and their driver, Hayden Bowlsbey, was a military child.

“Our mission statement is to help other veterans; to bring awareness to the problem that is happening with 22 veterans committing suicide every single day.” Graham continued. “We want to bring veterans to the racetrack and show them that racing can be an outlet. It can help with the depression and all the stuff you get and feel when you get out of the military. The main goal for all of us is to bring the veteran suicide number down as low as we can.”

IGY6 Motorsports competes with driver Hayden Bowlsbey in the No. 3 Save22 Veterans / Southern Linac LLC Ligier JS F3.

Some F4 U.S. Drivers Gain an Edge with Prior Laps at Road America

As drivers look to lean on any experience they can to prepare for this weekend’s Road America SpeedTour, six drivers entered also competed with F4 U.S. at Road America in 2021. Leading the charge is Matt Christensen (No. 45 Velocity Racing Development Ligier JS F4) who scored a pair of second-place finishes for two podium results in 2021, and whose worst finish of the weekend was fifth. Other drivers who raced in last year’s F4 U.S. events at Road America include: Artie Flores (No. 22 Gonella Racing / Flexi Ligier JS F4), Gabriel Fonseca (No. 76 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4), Joe Ostholthoff (No. 7 Jay Howard Driver Development / CSU One Cure / Lucas Oil / Pelican Ligier JS F4), Ryan Shehan (No. 66 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4) and Louka St-Jean (No. 98 Jay Howard Driver Development, CSU One Cure, Lucas Oil, Pelican Ligier JS F4). Noah Ping (No. 65 Velocity Racing Development Ligier JS F4) did not participate in last year’s F4 U.S. races at Road America, but he does have several podium finishes at the Wisconsin road course through his racing in the Radical Cup North America series.

Three Winners in Three F4 U.S. Races at NOLA

The 2022 F4 U.S. season opened at NOLA Motorsports Park last month in the series’ first trip to the Louisiana track. With three races scheduled, the series was able to celebrate three different winners. Lochie Hughes, a native of Australia’s Gold Coast, kicked off the weekend by winning his first race in his first F4 U.S. start while driving the No. 6 Jay Howard Driver Development / CSU One Cure / Lucas Oil / Pelican Ligier JS F4. In Race 2, it was Bryson Morris (No. 39 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4) who came from nearly three seconds back to step atop the podium and break a six-race winless streak. After a one-year hiatus, Nicholas Rivers (No. 65 Velocity Racing Development Ligier JS F4) didn’t just return to F4 U.S. competition. Rivers went all the way to Victory Lane, securing his first series win in Race 3 at NOLA.

Championship Battle Takes Shape After Round 1

The championship battle is slowly unfolding in F4 U.S. with three races already in the books. With both Lochie Hughes and Bryson Morris scoring a win and second-place finish at NOLA, it was Hughes’ fifth-place finish in Race 2 that made the difference securing him the points lead with 53 points. Morris remains well within striking distance with 43 points, and only one-sixth of the season complete. The battle from third through fifth remains extremely tight with only six points separating the three drivers. Nicholas Rivers is currently ranked third with 33 points, followed by Ryan Shehan with 31 points, and Alex Berg (No. 08 Doran-Kroll Competition Ligier JS F4) in fifth place with 27 points.

Ethan Barker Joins F4 U.S. Championship

Ethan Barker will make his F4 U.S. debut this weekend at Road America driving the No. 12 Barker Racing Ligier JS F4 for the family-owned race team, Barker Motorsports. A resident of Houston, Barker celebrated his 17th birthday last Saturday.

Joe Ostholthoff Racing and Remembering His Father This Weekend at Road America

Robert “Bob” Ostholthoff never got to watch his son Joe Ostholthoff race, but this weekend he’s sure to be smiling down on his son, as Joe races the No. 7 Jay Howard Driver Development / CSU One Cure / Lucas Oil / Pelican Ligier JS F4 at Bob’s “home track,” Road America.

“The only reason I’m racing is because of my dad,” said Joe Ostholthoff. “He got me into it.”

A native of Chicago, Bob founded the Porsche Club of America Chicago branch at Road America. While the younger Ostholthoff was never able to experience Road America with his father, it didn’t stop them from sharing a love of motorsports with racing always on their TV at home. Bob passed away in March 2017 after battling cancer.

FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR CATHCART AT CTMP

Bryan Cathcart Driver of the #71 Dodge in the season opener at Sunset Speedway

(May 18, 2022) Bryan Cathcart are looking forward to the next challenge in their return to competition in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this weekend. The Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest is one of the highlights of the racing season and the first road course vent of the year presents plenty of challenges and opportunities for the #71 Cathcart Dodge team.

Cathcart has raced four times previously on the difficult road course near Bowmanville, Ontario and learned plenty through those experiences. Known primarily as an oval racer, Cathcart has shown that he can keep up with the competition on road courses as well.

In the season opener Cathcart maneuvered the #71 Cathcart Dodge forward throughout the race and came home five positions better than he started and the car in good shape. He’ll be looking for another strong outing this weekend.

Quote:
“Our team has always enjoyed the challenges of road racing. It’s very different than how I came up on ovals, but I like a challenge and the opportunity to keep improving by watching some of the other talented drivers. Our team has worked hard to give me a good car for the weekend and if I can look after the car and pick up a spot when I get the opportunity, we’ll have a good day. -Bryan Cathcart, Driver #71 Dodge

This specific Silverado RST was built in 2020 and has a best finish of third place at Richmond Raceway driven by Tyler Ankrum. Most recently, Grant raced this truck at Martinsville where he earned his first top-10 finish of the season. This weekend will be the first time that the chassis has raced at Texas Motor Speedway. - Hot Streak: A third place run at Kansas Speedway marked five consecutive races that Grant Enfinger has earned a top-10 finish in. Both driver and crew are hitting their stride eight races into the 2022 campaign, and continue to close in on their nearest competition in points. Texas has historically been a very successful track for GMS Racing, with the team earning five wins at the facility, so an opportunity for Enfinger to pull off his first win of the season is very possible on Friday night.
  • Driver Appearances: Fans attending the SpeedyCash.com 220 will have two opportunities to meet Grant Enfinger, as he will join the NASCAR Trackside Live stage from 5:15 PM for a Q&A session, followed up by another Q&A and autograph session at the Team Chevy stage at 5:30 PM local time in the Texas Motor Speedway fan zone. - GE Quote: “Our No. 23 team has been doing great at the shop and on pit road. I think the race in Texas will be a great opportunity for our team to shine, especially after seeing what we have learned over the last couple weeks. In the past, this track has really suited my driving style, but we haven’t been able to pull off that win yet, so I’m hungry for one here. If we are able to unload quickly and stay ahead of the racetrack, I think we can contend all night with our Champion Power Equipment Chevy.”

  • Chassis History/Info: Jack Wood will take GMS Racing chassis no. 327 at Texas Motor Speedway. The chassis joined the GMS fleet in 2020, and has two wins on its resume – Phoenix in November 2020 where it delivered Sheldon Creed to his championship win, and Darlington in September 2021 where Creed led a race high of 104 laps. Wood is the most recent driver to race this truck at Martinsville earlier this year, and both will make their debut start at the Texas intermediate track on Friday.
  • Sunoco ROTY Update: Following a 26th place finish at Kansas Speedway, Jack Wood lost some ground to Sunoco Rookie Of The Year point leader Lawless Alan, but remains in third place in the rookie standings. Entering Friday night’s race in Fort Worth, Wood is slotted only nine points behind second place and 27 points out of the lead.
  • Driver Appearances: Fans attending the SpeedyCash.com 220 will have two opportunities to meet Jack Wood, as he will join the NASCAR Trackside Live stage from 5:15 PM for a Q&A session, followed up by another Q&A and autograph session at the Team Chevy stage at 5:30 PM local time in the Texas Motor Speedway fan zone.
  • JW Quote: “I’m excited to race at Texas for the first time this weekend with my GMS Racing guys. I’ve never been there in any type of car before, but I’ve spoke with a lot of drivers and they agree that this track is one of their favorite places to race at. Last year here, the No. 24 Chevy ran up front all race and finished second with Chase Elliott, so I believe that there is a good opportunity for our team to back it up with another strong run. We are bringing really fast Silverado RSTs to the racetrack week in and week out, so if we are able to put a full race together, the good finishes will come naturally.”
