7 Best Cars Racing-Themed Online Slots

Car racing is a popular theme in online slots. Different slot machine developers have lots of racing titles in their gaming portfolios. However, not every racing game comes with the best experience. Before choosing a game, a few factors always play significance. For example, the setup of a game, usually based on the number of paylines, and reels are crucial. The catch is that every casino slot pays differently. Gaming graphics is another vital consideration punts make when choosing a racing-themed slot machine gaming.

Different Slot Machine Developers, Cutting-Edge Technology

With most people preferring 3D high definition games to 2D variants, it goes that technology supplements gambling in a big way. Moreover, choosing a racing-themed online slot boils down to return to player percentage. The payout ratio often varies from one developer to another, so you should always review available options before settling on the best. Our Punt casino review for SA players is an excellent starting point for new players looking for the best slot machine games on different themes. Here is a lowdown of the seven best car racing-themed slots you can play in online casinos.

  1. 5 Reel Drive from Microgaming

Microgaming is popular for crafting top-notch slot machine games for online casinos. 5 Reel Drive slot is based on the same name. It features five reels and up to 9 paylines. While this game does not have a bonus game, you can still play for a big payout using scatters and wilds. It is every punter’s choice, especially those who love intense action on the reels. 5 Reel Drive has an RTP of 96.96%, which is above par.

  1. Dream Run by RTG

Realtime Gaming is popular for creating the most sought-after slots. Dream Run is a perfect example of a racing-themed game that takes your adrenaline to the highest levels. First off, an RTP of 97% means you are in for excellent payouts as soon as you sign up to play Dream Run by RTP. An interesting aspect of this game is its two wild symbols labeled as ‘racer’ and ‘opponent.’ You also have free spins, wild symbols, and scatters to jest up your game time. The design of Dream by RTP is aesthetically appealing hence elicits a lot of excitement as soon as you spin the reels.

  1. Racing for Pinks

It seems Microgaming will always have a say in racing-themed slots. Racing for Pinks is another top online slot from the company that offers an adrenaline-pumping experience on the reels. This car-themed slot offers you 243 paylines and 5 reels, hence one of the highest-paying games you can play in any South African online slot. You have 30 free spins in Racing for Pinks. Another high-five is the 5x winning multiplier and x175 earnings with the bonus feature. Mouthwatering payouts in this game overshadow its rather low RTP of 95.81%. The second All-Star achievement by Larson in Texas car racing should provide you with some motivation before hitting the reels in Racing for Pinks.

  1. Drive: Multiplier Mayhem by NetEnt

Drive: Multiplier Mayhem by NetEnt is a racing-themed slot that boasts 15 paylines and a 5-reel setup. The catch with this game is the intensity and excellent graphics that take gaming innovation to a new level. Winning multipliers make this game even more thrilling. You get extra payouts with wilds and free spins. Winning multipliers in the Drive slot machine game can go up to x120 depending on how good a punter is on the reels. Free spins in the bonus round and an RTP of 96.70% means everyone walks away happy.

  1. Green Light Slot by RTG

The Green Light slot has a 5-reel setup and 20 paylines. A green light is the scatter in this game, and a driver icon is a wild symbol. This is a fast-paced slot machine game that comes with a high-octane gambling experience as you take your chances on the reels. A maximum payout of $10,000, a progressive jackpot, and an RTP of 95% make the Green Light slot a competitive variant in the car racing-themed slot categories.

  1. Monster Wheels by Microgaming

Our sixth pick is another car racing title from Microgaming, Monster Wheels. While this game has a standard 5-reel setup you get with most online slots, a monstrous 288 paylines is way above par compared to competitor variants. The biggest plus in the Monster Wheels slot game is the bonus round triggered by at least three scatters. There is also a bonus round that gets you more payout with winning multipliers.

  1.  Midnight Racer Developed by Saucify

Saucify may not be among the best casino game developers, but the company is known to create memorable experiences for gamblers. Midnight Racer is a car racing-themed slot by Saucify that has a 5-reel setup and 30 paylines. Midnight Racer features excellent graphics that make it a top mobile game for those who love to play on the go. While there is no bonus game in this game, excellent payouts, a higher return to play percentage, and fast-paced gaming further make it a popular choice among gamblers.

Conclusion

There are as many car racing-themed slots as you can imagine in online casinos. The ones we have reviewed in this post are only, but a few that we think are among the best. You can always explore more variants, especially by other top casino game providers such as Play N` Go. In the experience, it is all about experience and excellent rewards on the reels.

Finding Low-Cost Auto Insurance for Texas Drivers

Photo by Gabriel Gurrola on Unsplash

In today’s economy, it is not uncommon to search for ways to decrease the amount of money you are spending, on everything from electricity, to gasoline and groceries. Why not also look at your current insurance premiums, starting with your auto insurance? It is simple and quick to get car insurance quotes online. You may be able to save a significant amount of money on your Texas Car Insurance rates. If you are thinking that these savings probably won’t apply to you, guess again. You just need to know what to look for and what to ask.

You Must Shop Around

We all shop around for things like health insurance and homeowner’s insurance; we should also spend some time researching our options when it comes to getting a Texas Car Insurance quote. What may have been a good deal last year may not be the best auto insurance company deal THIS year. Savvy consumers perform rate comparisons every time their policy is due for renewal. This effort only takes a few minutes and can save you hundreds per year. In some instances, you might save up to $100 per month!

Examine Your Policy and Make Sure It Fits Your Situation

As your life changes, so do your needs. Re-evaluate your current situation by getting some fresh comparison quotes to determine if you may qualify for additional discounts or low down payment cheap car insurance plans.

Amend Your Credit Record

It’s True. Better credit scores often mean lower rates. This is true for your car insurance, as well as health, life, and homeowners. If you have any dings or errors with your credit, take care to address the problems. Contact Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax credit bureaus and request a copy of your credit report from all three companies. This is available to consumers once a year, free of charge. With these reports, you can find old, outdated information and request that it be removed. You can also question errors that may appear. A better-looking report will definitely impact your insurance rates.

Can You Afford a Higher Deductible Amount?

Along the same vein as examining your policy, you must also decide if your current deductible is right for you. Maybe you are in the position of increasing the amount of your deductible. This one thing could significantly reduce your car insurance rates.

Vehicle Type or Model Makes a Difference

If you are currently in the market for a new or used vehicle, this is very important and often overlooked. You will find that some vehicles cost more to insure than others. In fact, some vehicles cost a LOT more to insure. Certain makes and models are far more expensive to repair, in the event of an accident. And, certain makes and models are far more prone to theft.

How can you find out about the car, truck, SUV, or mobile home insurance that you are considering? Magazines and websites, such as Consumer Reports, are a good place to begin. A quick way to know for sure would be to get a quick Texas car insurance quote online.

Compare quotes online

Free car insurance quotes are accessible by insurance companies who compete with one another to advertise a policy to potential consumers. Before, newspapers, radio, and television were used to be the medium of advertisement. With the arrival of the internet, it is now reachable to present a variety of quotes. Another benefit is that the internet is accessible all the time, 24×7, and is far-reaching to several parts of the earth.

Besides, the insurance companies would acquire the comment almost at once and can discover their possible customers. This is very obliging for the companies to increase their production and resolve if there are some flaws. Alternatively, free car insurance quotes are suitable for the customers too, who are in a situation to evaluate and differentiate a variety of quotes from the usefulness of the house, with no having to drive down, waste gas, or misuse time and energy to obtain a relationship for the assorted car insurance quotes.

The sequence will be necessary by the insurance company to practice all information prior to giving you a quote.

To process your accounts will also require your past driving record and allowing the insurance company to witness whether insuring you resolve a danger or a benefit to them. If you receive a parking ticket every time is good enough, however, if you’ve led the police during an interstate on a wild trail, you won’t possibly be eligible for car insurance.

You must prefer which insurance company you approach to go with

You also cover a changeable variety of coverage offered to you. Several may be more advanced than others, while some possibly contribute a good coverage at fewer prices.

Harvick Armed for Success on Sunday at Road America by Running NASCAR Xfinity Series Race on Saturday

Two-Time Xfinity Series Champion To Drive No. 99 Henry Repeating Arms Ford Mustang for B.J. McLeod Motorsports in Henry 180

MOORESVILLE N.C. (June 29, 2021) – Since the mid-1990s when he started racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to his time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and 21 years of NASCAR Cup Series competition, Kevin Harvick has never raced at Road America.

The 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin has been absent on Harvick’s schedule despite 1,208 total starts across the Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series.

So when Road America was added to the Cup Series schedule in 2021, Harvick quickly conferred with his Cup Series crew chief Rodney Childers and put a plan together to get valuable seat time at the track. That plan has resulted in Harvick driving the No. 99 Henry Repeating Arms Ford Mustang for B.J. McLeod Motorsports in the Henry 180 Xfinity Series race Saturday at Road America in preparation for Sunday’s Cup race.

“When Rodney and I began talking about the best way to get some real-world experience at Road America, we settled in on putting together an Xfinity program,” Harvick said. “We needed a strong partner in Henry Repeating Arms to allow B.J. McLeod Motorsports to put a good car together. We wanted to get far out in front of this race weekend so that we could be properly prepared.”

Harvick isn’t the only driver new to Road America. With the track being on the Cup Series schedule for the first time, simulator work and film study have been on every driver’s to-do list. While helpful, neither takes the place of real-world experience.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on iRacing and we’ve had a couple of simulator dates to get prepared for this weekend,” Harvick said. “But the main reason we decided to run the Xfinity race at Road America and a couple of the other new road courses is that being on-track in real-time is the best experience you can get. There’s just nothing that can replace reality and being on the racetrack.”

That dedication to his craft has made Harvick one of the most successful NASCAR drivers of his era. He won the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship and is 10th on the all-time win list with 58 career Cup Series victories, he is a two-time Xfinity Series champion (2001 and 2006) with 47 career wins, and he is a 14-race winner in the Truck Series.

Harvick has been leading the field for more than two decades, so partnering with Henry Repeating Arms at Road America was a natural fit. The American manufacturer of classic rifles and shotguns is a world leader in the lever-action category. It has two manufacturing facilities – one in Bayonne, New Jersey, and the other in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, located approximately 290 miles northwest of Road America.

“Road America is a home race for us and we partnered with Kevin because of his history of success,” said Anthony Imperato, President and Owner, Henry Repeating Arms. “For the fans of our firearms or motorsports fans in general, this is going to be an exciting weekend for all of us.”

In Harvick’s last Xfinity Series race back in May at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, he finished a solid fourth in his first start for B.J. McLeod Motorsports.

“I’m a huge visual person,” Harvick said. “The experience I have in going to these racetracks for a long time – I can tell you every crack, every curve and every marker on the wall, and those are the things I want to have embedded in my mind before we get to Sunday. I want to make sure we’ve hit most of the curbs and know where you can take a risk making a pass and where to make time and how to get on and off pit road in a live situation, because the practices are short. The Xfinity car is going to be the best tool, and just being able to make laps is the most important thing.”

Of Harvick’s 347 career Xfinity Series starts, 12 have come on road courses. He has finished in the top-10 every time. In fact, his worst finish is merely a seventh-place drive at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International on Aug. 12, 2006, and in that race, Harvick still managed to lead 19 laps. He has 10 top-five finishes highlighted by two wins – Aug. 4, 2007 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and Aug. 11, 2007 at Watkins Glen.

“We’ve always run well on the road courses in the Xfinity Series, and this race at Road America is part of a bigger picture,” said Harvick. “Running the Henry Repeating Arms Ford Mustang on Saturday will get us up to speed for Sunday.”

The No. 99 Henry Repeating Arms Ford Mustang will turn its wheels for the first time on Friday at Road America during a 50-minute practice session from 4:05 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. EDT. It returns to the track on Saturday for qualifying and the race. Qualifying takes place at 11:35 a.m. and the Henry 180 gets underway at 2:30 p.m. with live coverage on NBC and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Notes of Interest

● Chase Briscoe and the Ford Performance Racing School/HighPoint.com team for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) head to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, for the 20th event of the season and the fourth of seven road course events that appear on the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series schedule. This is the first time the Cup Series will race at Road America in 65 years when NASCAR Hall of Famer Tim Flock won the inaugural event.

● Briscoe’s best finish of the season came at the Cup Series’ second scheduled road-course event at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, where he finished sixth.

● In two starts at Road America in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Briscoe posted finishes of seventh in 2019 and third last year in the No. 98 SHR Ford. He also raced in the last year’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Road America, co-driving with James Pesek in a Ford Mustang GT4 prepared by PF Racing.

● The Ford Performance Racing School/HighPoint.com driver finished in the top-10 in all but three of the 10 road-course races in which he completed in the Xfinity Series. Chase Briscoe, Driver of the No. 14 Ford Performance Racing School/HighPoint.com Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

We’re heading to another new road course for the Cup Series, but you’ve got plenty of track time at Road America. Do you feel like you’ll be able to take better advantage of the 50-minute practice session since you already know the track?

“Definitely. We’ve been working on some things over the last month so that we can get the most out of practice. Johnny (Klausmeier, crew chief) asked for some information on which corners we need to focus on so that I’m the most comfortable I can be in my first time there in the Cup car. It’s going to be nice to, right away, know what I need in the racecar and the feel I’m looking for, and just know the track. I don’t have to go there and learn it, I’ve already been there plenty of times. I feel Road America is one of the tracks where, as a racecar driver, you can kind of outrun your equipment sometimes. It really is an equalizer. I’ve really grown to love road courses and that comfortability helps when going to these tracks.”

You’ve said that Road America is one of your favorite places to visit. What makes it so special?

“I have always loved visiting Road America. It’s always one of the best crowds for the Xfinity Series and I’m sure we’ll see the same for Cup. It’s just a beautiful part of the country. I think I’ve discovered some hidden areas, but the place is so big, it seems like I find something new every time. I’ve been able to do all the trails and disc golf. I’ve done a lot of things at Road America and got to see parts of the racetrack where, if you just show up as a driver on race weekend and don’t explore, you would never even know were there.”

With your experience at Road America, what should we be keeping an eye on this weekend?

“I think tires are going to be important, and fuel is definitely going to be a concern in that final stage. It’s something that the crew chiefs will try to figure out – how early can you pit with your tires being able to be there at the end.”

Aric Almirola, Driver of the No. 10 Smithfield/Pit Boss Grills Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing

You have never raced at Road America. How have you prepared for your debut?

“A lot of simulator time. Ford Performance gives us all the tools we need to prepare for race weekends like this with their simulator. It’s as realistic as it gets and it gives me the opportunity to memorize braking points, speeds and all of the new turns. Luckily, we’ll have practice and qualifying this weekend to give us more reps.”

Is there anything better than tailgating at a race on July 4 weekend?

“Grilling out and tailgating at the race on July 4th weekend was a staple of my childhood growing up as a race fan. The same is true with NASCAR fans today. Whether they’re at the track cheering for us or in the backyard watching on NBC, NASCAR fans will be in full force cooking Smithfield on their Pit Boss grills. It’s an American tradition. Last weekend (at Pocono), we saw the most campers and tailgaters we’ve ever seen, and I’m sure we will see the same this weekend at Road America. There’s no better way to celebrate the holiday weekend than with Smithfield and Pit Boss Grills on the side of a red, white and blue No. 10 Ford Mustang.”

Do you feel confident going to another road course for the first time?

“Our finishes don’t show it, but we have actually improved our road-course program. I feel more confident behind the wheel and I think the package we run has worked in our favor this year. We had a good day at the Daytona road course earlier in the year. I couldn’t see at COTA with all of the rain, and we were in position for a top-10 at Sonoma before we had to avoid an accident at the end of the race that forced us off the track. We just need to put a full race together, minimize mistakes, and have a good day on pit road.”

Are you excited to have qualifying this weekend?

“Oh yeah. It gives us a shot at a decent starting spot instead of letting this qualifying equation tell us where to start. It’s always nice to know you have a shot at it and can put your outcome in your own hands.”

QUOTE WORTHY
Buescher on racing at Road America:
“This weekend is yet another opportunity for our team to rebound as the playoff picture gets ever tighter. Thankfully I’ve had some experience there prior in the Xfinity Series years ago, and that combined with our crew chiefs’ past should give us a good base to start from. We’ve felt pretty confident in our road course program the last few months, so our hope is to put the Fastenal Ford up front come Sunday.”

Last Time Out
Buescher finished 20th in the first of two races at Pocono last weekend, earning himself the pole for Sunday’s race. He went on to finish 19th in that event.

Where They Rank
The playoff battle continues to heat up with Buescher three points below the cut line entering the weekend.

On the Car
Fastenal is in its 11th season with Roush Fenway, having first joined the fold in 2010 as the primary partner on the No. 60 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) team and driver Carl Edwards. That team went on to win the owners championship with Edwards in 2011. Fastenal later served as a primary on Buescher’s No. 60 Ford that captured the NXS Championship in 2015.

Fastenal will feature top suppliers Dewalt, Mechanix Wear, Rustoleum, Sqwincher and Werner on Buescher’s Mustang as he competes this weekend. For more information on these suppliers, visit Fastenal.com, and stay up-do-date on social @FastenalRacing, @Fastenal.

ADVANCE NOTES

Another New Track for the NASCAR Cup Series

  • This event will mark the 12th season of NASCAR racing at Road America, but it will be the first for the NCS since 1956. The Xfinity Series has made Elkhart Lake a stop on its circuit since 2010.
  • The Cup stars are on track for the first time Saturday for a 50-minute practice session at 12:35 p.m. ET, with qualifying set for raceday morning at 11:05 a.m. ET.

Newman on Road Courses

  • Newman will make his first-ever NASCAR start at Road America this weekend. He has 43 starts all-time on road courses in the NCS with 11 top-10s and an average finish of 17th.
  • Newman has road course finishes of 20th (Daytona), 24th (COTA) and 33rd (Sonoma) thus far in 2021. Ahead of the weekend, he will jump in a TransAm car and gain valuable experience in testing Thursday and Friday ahead of a race Saturday afternoon at the 4.04-mile road course.

Scott Graves at Road America

  • Graves will head to Road America with some Xfinity Series experience in his back pocket, having called three races from 2014-16. He was Chris Buescher’s crew chief in the 2014 and 2015 events, leading him to a ninth-place run in 2015.
  • A year later he and Daniel Suarez finished fourth in the No. 19 machine. Graves will also join Newman for the TransAm events this week, along with his spotter, Jason Jarrett, ahead of the NCS getting on track.

QUOTE WORTHY
Newman on racing at Road America:
“Road America is going to be all new to me, been there once as a fan but never competed there. I’ve spent some time on the simulator and talked to the guys about what to expect, and probably watch a few clips what to do, what not to do and where the passing zones are. The TransAm race will be a good opportunity to get some experience so that we’re ready for the weekend in our Kohler Generators Ford.”

Last Time Out
Newman finished 37th in the first race of last weekend’s Pocono doubleheader and 22nd on Sunday.

Where They Rank
Newman is 24th in points through 19 events.

On the Car

Kohler Generators makes its return to the No. 6 this weekend in their own backyard, as Kohler, Wisconsin, is just a short drive to the Road America track. Newman will run a familiar patriotic scheme – the same he drove for the Coca-Cola 600 – in celebration of the July 4th holiday this weekend.

About KOHLER Generators
KOHLER Generators is a leading manufacturer of automatic standby generators, which connect to the electrical system of a home or a business and quickly restore power following an outage to provide security and peace of mind for everyday life. KOHLER whole home generators are permanently installed outside a home, similar to a central air conditioning (AC) unit. The generator operates on natural gas or liquid propane (LP) and is wired into a home’s electrical system. When power is lost from unexpected events such as severe weather storms, the standby generator automatically kicks in – generally within seconds – and can power hard-wired systems and appliances including air conditioning, heat, medical equipment, Internet and Wi-Fi, security systems and lighting. KOHLER Generators is part of privately held Kohler Co., headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin. The company provides complete power systems including portable, residential, industrial, and marine generators; automatic transfer switches; switchgear; monitoring controls; and accessories for emergency, prime power and energy-management applications. Kohler Power Systems has delivered energy solutions for markets worldwide since 1920. Visit KOHLERGenerators.com, facebook.com/KOHLERPower, or Twitter at @KOHLERPower. or more information.

PRESTON PARDUS RETURNS TO FAVORITE TRACK THIS WEEKEND

The Henry 180 NASCAR Xfinity Series race takes place on Saturday, August 8th at Road America.

What: Henry 180 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series
When: Saturday, July 3, 2:30 p.m. Central
Where: Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI
Car: No. 90 Danus Utilities/Chinchor Electric Chevrolet
Distance: Stages of 10, 10 and 25 laps (45 laps/182.16 miles)
Race broadcast info: TV – NBC; Radio – Motor Racing Network/Sirius XM Ch. 90

ELKHART LAKE, WI — Road America is more than 1,300 miles from Preston Pardus’ residence in Daytona Beach, Fla., but it certainly feels like home.

This weekend, Pardus returns to the 4.048-mile circuit where he made his NASCAR Xfinity debut in 2019. It’s the road course where he produced his career-best Xfinity finish with an eighth last summer, and the same venue on which he captured his second SCCA Spec Miata national championship last fall. Pardus will try to produce another strong Xfinity showing Saturday in the 45-lap, 182-mile Henry 180 on NBC.

“It’s probably the most excited I’ve been about returning to a track,” said Pardus, who had led five laps when the field took the green flag for the final two laps of the 2020 Henry 180.

“Last year we had really good speed in the wet and stayed in the top five the whole second stage. The tire strategy we had when we stayed out late allowed us to lead and restart up front. I knew we were going to fall back a little bit — didn’t have a shot at winning — and we had decent enough pace to finish eighth. It’s something to build on.”

Saturday’s event will mark Pardus’ 10th career Xfinity start and fourth this season. He kicked off the year at Daytona International Speedway’s road course and was running in the top 10 when the rear end failed with seven laps to go. It would be three months before he returned to action at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, but he produced a 14th-place finish in very wet conditions with the car he will pilot at Road America. He finished 25th on the lead lap at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on June 5.

As was the case at Mid-Ohio, Pardus’ father Dan will serve as crew chief at Road America.

In 2019, Preston Pardus qualified 15th at Elkhart Lake in his NASCAR debut, but only completed 14 laps when suspension failure ended his day. He started 37th in 2020 with positions for the green flag determined by owner points rather than time trials.

This weekend, Pardus will get to practice the No. 90 Chevrolet on Friday at 3:05 p.m. Central time in anticipation of Saturday’s 10:35 a.m. Central qualifying session. NBCSN will pick up qualifying at noon Eastern/11 Central.

“Road America’s got a good range of corners with a lot of high-speed stuff, and you also have quite a bit of low speed,” Pardus said. “It has some risky sections to it, like the Kink, where you’re sailing the car in there and can gain ground on people if you’re riskier than they are.

“You also have a nice range of high-speed braking areas. You get a ton more passing opportunities with the big straightaways, so it’s easier to set up passes. It’s a good track to race either wet or dry.”

Unlike last year, Pardus and his peers shouldn’t have to deal with wet conditions Saturday. The forecast calls for a sun-kissed, 75-degree day.

The Xfinity race sets the stage for Sunday’s Jockey Made in America 250 for NASCAR’s premier Cup Series. It’s only the second Cup event ever at Elkhart Lake, with the debut coming Aug. 12, 1956 — the first major event at the track. Tim Flock drove a ‘56 Mercury to a 17-second victory over Billy Meyers in that inaugural event.

Sheehan Heads to Road America in Good Shape After Strong Recovery at Mid Ohio

Lexington, OHIO – June 29, 2021 – Tom Sheehan and the LTK Mustang rebounded after a difficult start in Round 5 of the 2021 Trans Am TA2 Class Season at Mid Ohio, climbing an impressive 13 places by the checkered flag to claim 14 Championship points and retain his P8 position in the Drivers classification table. With Round 6 at Road America just around the corner, it puts him in good shape heading to the Midwest.

Qualifying at Mid Ohio was rain affected as Tom explained, “Qualifying was wet and dry. We ran slicks and it was the right call. We planned on staying on the track to put some heat in the car and push for the last eight minutes, but the black flag came out.”

Traffic subsequently put and end to Tom’s best lap and qualifying ended when he still had a bunch more in the car – leaving Tom with P15 and a time of 1:40:511.

When the race got underway Saturday lunchtime, it ultimately became a stop-start affair with the safety car appearing on several occasions. Contact on the first lap meant a spin for Tom and he slipped down to P25 before making a strong recovery to climb 13 places all the way to P12 by the finish.

“Not a stellar day but I’m grateful to be here in Mid Ohio,” he explained afterwards. “I chased all weekend. We have the car working great. The Mike Cope platform is solid and the car has some speed and I had a solid drive forward. Thanks to the Damon Racing crew. This is a tight team, we’re all contributing and the support we get from Mike and Travis really helps.”

The No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Ford Mustang will be in action again at the famous Wisconsin track as soon as 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1 when the TA2 cars begin testing. Official practice is that afternoon 1:30 p.m. with qualifying on Friday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. The race itself is on Saturday, July 3 at 4:45 p.m.

The Trans Am action at Road America forms part of a terrific program at the Elkhart Lake facility, with action across the card from the NASCAR Cup series JOCKEY as well as the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Road America is also one of a handful of road circuits in the world maintaining its original configuration being 4.048 miles in length with 14 turns, hence Saturday’s race is over just 25 laps. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds near 200mph can be achieved. One of the best known features of this course is a turn on the backside known as “the kink.”

Capstone Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 Team Perseveres to Finish Four-Hour Michelin Pilot Challenge Race in IMSA and Watkins Glen Debut

  • John Allen, Kris Wilson and Gary Ferrera Co-Drive No. 60 Capstone Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 to 17th Place in Competitive Grand Sports (GS) Field in IMSA and Watkins Glen International Debut
  • Capstone Supports University of Alabama College of Engineering Sports Car Racing Internship Program in 2021 and Beyond

WATKINS GLEN, New York (June 29, 2021) — Capstone Motorsports, a new-for-2021 sports car racing and motorsports company headquartered in Parker, Colorado, checked a major box on the team’s list of first year goals with a solid finish in its first visit to Watkins Glen and IMSA debut in Saturday’s four-hour IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race.

Surviving a caution-plagued race that many of their more experienced competitors didn’t, John Allen, Kris Wilson and Gary Ferrera co-drove the No. 60 Capstone Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 to a 17th place Grand Sport (GS) class finish.

“We looked at 2019, which was the last four-hour here, and saw all the mayhem that happened in that race,” Wilson said. “We decided we would try to get as much experience as we possibly could and do as many laps as we could. We also wanted to try to finish on the lead lap, but we knew our strategy was probably going to keep us down a lap or two, which was OK. We got all the pit stops well done within reason and got both John and Gary lots of laps in a four-hour race.”

Capstone principal and driver John Allen enjoyed his new team’s first foray into the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series.

“I was very pleased with the first IMSA outing for Capstone Motorsports,” Allen said. “Most of our crew had never worked with one another but came together as if they had been a team for years. They executed flawlessly during pit stops while other seasoned veteran teams struggled on pit lane. Most importantly, we all had fun, everybody is safe, the car is unscathed and we learned a ton. We can’t wait for our next IMSA event.”

Starting driver Ferrera and Allen traded off driving shifts in the first half of the race.

“Gary had never gotten into a race in the middle of the race,” Wilson said. “Even though he started the race, everyone was like ‘why is he getting back in?’ It’s because he’s never done that before. That was the whole idea and point of this weekend. We wanted to learn as much as we could and get everybody experience doing different jobs.”

Ferrera partnered with Allen and Wilson for the first time in a Capstone driver lineup at The Glen, which joins the season-opening four-hour at Daytona International Speedway as the two longest races on the Pilot Challenge event schedule each year.

“It was my first race of 2021, it was good to get back in,” Ferrera said. “I hope to do a couple of more races with these guys this year, but it is really about preparing for next year. The team was great this weekend. No screw ups, I was super impressed and the interns were fantastic.”

The Glen four-hour brought Capstone’s growing University of Alabama College of Engineering Sports Car Racing Internship Program to the IMSA paddock for the first time. Capstone continues an evolution for Allen and the UA Engineering internship program which has been an at-track technical curriculum the last couple of years. Allen is a 1979 UA College of Engineering graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was named in 2018 a UA Distinguished Engineering Fellow in acknowledgement of his vast professional, military and philanthropic achievements.

“The University of Alabama College of Engineering interns got thrown into key roles at The Glen and they stepped up and performed very well,” Allen said. “The interns are very much a part of what happens on track, and their efforts are extremely important to the outcome of every race. All in all, I think it was a great weekend and a great start for Capstone in this endurance format.”
