NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (Jan. 8, 2026) – As NASCAR Cup Series points racing returns to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the first time in nearly 30 years, the soundtrack of that era returns as well with multi-platinum country hitmakers Sawyer Brown headline a pre-race concert presented by Raymer Oil. The performance will be part of The Boys and Me Tour, firing up fans before the historic Window World 450 at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

The Window World 450 marks the first NASCAR Cup Series points race at North Wilkesboro Speedway since 1996 and the first 450-lap Cup Series race in track history. With extended distance and playoff implications, the event is set to be one of the most anticipated races on the 2026 NASCAR calendar.

“North Wilkesboro Speedway and Sawyer Brown both represent eras for racing and music that fans still talk about with passion today,” said Graig Hoffman, executive director of North Wilkesboro Speedway. “As points racing returns to Wilkes County for the first time in three decades, it felt fitting to welcome a band that was defining country music during that same period. This will be a summer doubleheader of entertainment you’ll hear throughout the North Carolina mountains in July!”

Formed in the early 1980s and rocketing to national fame in the mid-1990s, Sawyer Brown has built a reputation on electrifying live shows and songs rooted in real life. With 24 albums, 51 charted singles and the No. 1 hit “Some Girls Do,” the band has spent more than four decades delivering high-energy performances to fans across the country — including more than 6,000 live shows.

Anchored by frontman Mark Miller alongside Gregg Hubbard (keyboards/vocals), Joe Smyth (percussion), and Shayne Hill (lead guitar), Sawyer Brown’s legendary live energy is set to echo through North Wilkesboro Speedway for a 60-minute set beginning at 5 p.m., revving up fans ahead of the return of the highly anticipated Window World 450.

“There’s something special about a place that has stood the test of time,” said Miller. “North Wilkesboro Speedway has that kind of soul. Bringing The Boys and Me Tour to a track with this much history, on a night this meaningful, is exactly the kind of moment we love to be part of.”

How Coaches Can Build a Championship Culture Without a Winning Record

A championship culture is often misunderstood as something that only exists when banners are raised and trophies are won. In reality, culture is built long before the scoreboard reflects success. Coaches have the power to create environments rooted in accountability, pride, resilience, and growth, regardless of win-loss records. Teams without a winning record can still develop championship habits that prepare athletes for long-term success both in sports and in life.

Redefining What Championship Culture Means

Championship culture is not defined by standings alone. It is defined by standards, behaviors, and values that guide how athletes train, compete, and support one another. A team that shows up prepared, communicates effectively, and competes with integrity is practicing championship culture even if outcomes are still developing. Coaches who redefine success help athletes stay motivated and committed through difficult seasons.

Establishing Clear Standards and Expectations

Culture begins with clarity. Athletes need to know what is expected of them on and off the field. Clear standards around effort, attitude, punctuality, and respect create consistency. When coaches enforce these standards regardless of performance, athletes learn that commitment matters more than results. Over time, this consistency builds trust and a sense of purpose that transcends wins and losses.

Focusing on Daily Habits Over Results

Winning records are outcomes, not inputs. Championship culture is built through daily habits such as disciplined practice, attention to detail, and accountability. Coaches who emphasize process over results teach athletes to control what they can. When players see progress in their habits, confidence grows even if the scoreboard does not immediately reflect improvement.

Teaching Resilience Through Adversity

Losing seasons can be powerful teaching tools. Adversity reveals character and creates opportunities for growth. Coaches who frame setbacks as learning moments help athletes develop resilience. Instead of avoiding failure, athletes learn to analyze mistakes, adapt, and persist. These mental skills are foundational to championship culture and often separate successful teams in the long run.

Creating Pride in Effort and Improvement

Athletes need to feel proud of what they are building. Recognizing effort, improvement, and commitment reinforces positive behaviors. This does not mean lowering standards or handing out empty praise. It means acknowledging progress honestly. When athletes see that their hard work is noticed, they remain engaged and invested even during challenging seasons.

Building Leadership from Within

Championship cultures are athlete-driven, not coach-dependent. Coaches can empower leaders by giving them responsibility and voice. Encouraging athletes to hold each other accountable strengthens ownership and unity. Leadership development is especially important when wins are scarce, as it keeps the team connected and focused on shared values rather than frustration.

Encouraging Team Identity and Belonging

Teams without winning records often struggle with morale. Building a strong team identity helps counter this. Coaches can emphasize shared goals, traditions, and rituals that reinforce belonging. When athletes feel connected to the group, they are more likely to support one another and stay committed to the process regardless of outcomes.

Balancing Recognition and Accountability

Recognition plays a key role in sustaining culture, but it must be balanced with accountability. Coaches should recognize behaviors that align with team values such as effort, sportsmanship, and perseverance. This approach differs from participation trophies that reward presence without purpose. Meaningful recognition reinforces standards while maintaining credibility and motivation.

Teaching Life Skills Through Sport

Championship culture extends beyond competition. Coaches can use sports as a platform to teach discipline, communication, and emotional control. When athletes understand that lessons learned will benefit them beyond the season, they place greater value on the experience. This perspective helps maintain motivation even when wins are limited.

Modeling the Culture as a Coach

Coaches are the most visible representation of team culture. How they respond to losses, adversity, and pressure sets the tone. Calm, consistent leadership communicates confidence and stability. When coaches demonstrate accountability and a growth mindset, athletes are more likely to adopt the same attitudes.

Avoiding Outcome-Based Motivation

Motivating athletes solely through wins creates a fragile culture. When results are poor, motivation collapses. Coaches who emphasize intrinsic motivation, such as personal growth and team pride, create resilience. Athletes learn to compete for reasons beyond validation from the scoreboard, which strengthens long-term commitment.

Creating Competitive Practices

Even without wins, teams can cultivate competitiveness in practice. Structured drills, clear goals, and internal challenges create intensity and focus. Competitive practices help athletes experience success in small moments, reinforcing belief and confidence. These experiences accumulate and eventually translate to improved performance.

Communicating Purpose Consistently

Athletes need regular reminders of why they are doing the work. Coaches should consistently communicate the purpose behind training, standards, and decisions. This transparency builds trust and helps athletes stay aligned with the vision even when results are slow to improve.

Protecting Athlete Confidence

Losing can erode confidence if not managed carefully. Coaches must separate performance critique from personal value. Constructive feedback focused on behavior and technique preserves self-belief. Protecting confidence is essential for maintaining effort and engagement throughout a difficult season.

Encouraging Long-Term Perspective

Championship culture is rarely built in a single season. Coaches who emphasize long-term development help athletes understand that progress is cumulative. This perspective reduces frustration and encourages patience. Athletes learn that meaningful success often comes after sustained effort and commitment.

Using Recognition to Reinforce Values

Recognition should align with the culture being built. Highlighting hustle, leadership, and improvement reinforces desired behaviors. Unlike generic participation trophies, intentional recognition sends clear messages about what the program stands for. This alignment strengthens culture and keeps athletes focused on controllable actions.

Creating Safe Spaces for Honest Dialogue

Open communication is critical during challenging seasons. Coaches should create environments where athletes feel comfortable expressing concerns and ideas. Honest dialogue builds trust and prevents resentment from undermining culture. When athletes feel heard, they are more likely to stay engaged and committed.

Measuring Success Beyond the Record

Success can be measured through effort, attendance, improvement, and team cohesion. Tracking these metrics helps athletes see progress that may not yet show up in wins. This broader definition of success reinforces championship values and keeps morale high.

Preparing for Future Success

Teams that build a strong culture during losing seasons are often best positioned for future success. The habits, resilience, and unity developed through adversity create a foundation that winning teams rely on. Coaches who stay committed to culture building prepare athletes to handle success with humility and discipline when it arrives.

Final Thoughts

A winning record is not a prerequisite for a championship culture. Culture is built through standards, habits, relationships, and purpose. Coaches who focus on development, accountability, and meaningful recognition can create environments where athletes thrive regardless of outcomes. By emphasizing growth over results and avoiding empty rewards like participation trophies, coaches help athletes develop pride, resilience, and commitment that define true championship culture.

ATRIUM HEALTH AND HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS LAUNCH PARTNERSHIP TO DRIVE PERFORMANCE AND WELLNESS

NEW ATHLETIC CENTER DELIVERS RESOURCES FOR ATHLETES AND CHARLOTTE-AREA WORKFORCE

CONCORD, N.C. (Jan. 8, 2026) – Atrium Health has joined 15-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports in an innovative partnership that includes naming rights to the new 35,000-square-foot Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center located on the team’s campus in Concord.

The agreement establishes Atrium Health as both a brand partner of Hendrick Motorsports and a long-term provider in athlete and employee wellness.

Atrium Health is home to the region’s largest sports medicine outreach program and is nationally ranked for orthopedic care by U.S. News & World Report. The organization supports more than 20 professional and collegiate teams and over 100 high schools across North Carolina and South Carolina.

Set to officially open later this month, the Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center at Hendrick Motorsports will provide integrated medical, wellness and sports performance resources for the team’s more than 50 pit crew athletes, while also supporting the health needs of Hendrick Motorsports’ Charlotte-area employees. Atrium Health clinicians will staff the facility.

The Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center includes a high-performance gym with the latest training equipment, modern locker rooms, a team operations center for race-day competition operations, a nutrition area, athletic meeting and film rooms, and dedicated spaces for physical therapy, hydrotherapy and recovery. The facility also features a dedicated space for sports science research and a closed-loop pit stop practice circuit that can accommodate two teams concurrently.

Beginning with the 2026 NASCAR season, Atrium Health will have a significant presence across all Hendrick Motorsports-fielded teams, including logo placement on driver fire suits, crew apparel, athletic training gear and track equipment.

Atrium Health has actively supported the NASCAR industry through initiatives like the NASCAR Day Giveathon and by providing sports medicine coverage at major events such as the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. These efforts underscore Atrium Health’s commitment to improving health and wellness for athletes, fans and event participants at the speedway.

Gene A. Woods, CEO, Advocate Health: “Partnering with Hendrick Motorsports is a defining opportunity to deliver world‑class, innovative medical care to one of the highest‑performance cultures in NASCAR. In both health care and auto racing, excellence is engineered – driven by precision, powered by state‑of‑the‑art technology and made possible by exceptional teammates. With Atrium Health’s nationally recognized clinicians embedded on the Hendrick campus, this partnership will help keep their record‑setting athletes fully on the throttle and give every team member faster, more seamless access to care – on and off the track.”

Rick Hendrick, owner, Hendrick Motorsports: “People are the foundation of our organization, and supporting their health and performance is essential to our success. Our new partnership with Atrium Health brings best-in-class clinical and performance resources directly to our campus. There’s no facility like this in the world of auto racing. It’s a game changer. The Atrium Health Motorsports Athletic Center will help our athletes perform at their best and give our teammates convenient access to high-quality health care. We value the shared commitment to people that defines both of our organizations, and we look forward to a truly incredible collaboration in the coming years.”

Dr. Claude T. Moorman, president, Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute: “We are proud to join Hendrick Motorsports in creating a facility that integrates sports medicine, performance services and clinical care. Our focus will be on supporting athlete fitness, injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as optimizing performance throughout the NASCAR season, which is the longest season in professional sports. This partnership allows us to deliver high-level care in a purpose-built environment that meets the needs of both elite athletes and the broader workforce of the Hendrick organization.”

Jeff Gordon, vice chairman, Hendrick Motorsports: “The demands of NASCAR are different from any other sport – the schedule is relentless, the margins are extremely tight, and performance is about preparation as much as it is execution. This new facility allows our coaches and staff to work side by side with Atrium Health clinicians, ensuring every aspect of training, recovery and readiness is aligned. Everything in this space is designed around our athletes and our teammates. At the end of the day, it always comes back to people, and this new partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting them the right way every day.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, TRICON JOIN FORCES FOR SAN DIEGO

NASCAR Hall of Famer Returns to the Craftsman Truck Series for First Time Since 2008

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (January 8, 2026) – TRICON Garage (TRICON) announced today that NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time Cup Series (NCS) champion Jimmie Johnson will return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) for its inaugural race at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, California.

The appearance will mark Johnson’s first Truck Series appearance since 2008 and will be part of the broader NASCAR San Diego weekend. Carvana will support Johnson throughout the weekend, including his planned Cup Series start with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and as the primary partner on Friday’s Truck Series entry with TRICON. Carvana, a leading e-commerce platform for buying and selling cars, is a longtime partner of Johnson and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

The Southern California native will compete in his hometown race behind the wheel of the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON’s “all-star” entry for NASCAR’s challenging 16-turn, 3.4-mile street circuit along the Coronado waterfront.

“Racing in San Diego means everything to me – it’s home,” said Johnson. “Getting behind the wheel of a Truck Series entry has been on my mind for a while. The competition is incredible, and doing it at a historic street race on a Navy base in my hometown? That’s special. I’m grateful to TRICON and Carvana for making this happen, and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to honor our military and celebrate where I’m from.”

An 83-time NCS race winner, Johnson will also attempt double duty during NASCAR’s San Diego weekend, competing in Sunday’s Cup Series activities in the No. 84 Carvana Toyota Camry XSE for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

The NCTS race at Naval Base Coronado is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026, coinciding with a Navy Community Day, with broadcast coverage on FS1 and radio coverage on the NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM.

NASCAR Cup Series 2026 schedule features new tracks and increased horsepower

2025 NASCAR Cup Serie Championship race at Phoenix Raceway by Ron Olds for SpeedwayMedia.com.

This season, the NASCAR Cup Series schedule has been revamped to include new venues and the return of former tracks.

The series will not race at the Chicago Street Race, but will return to the city to compete at Chicagoland Speedway for the first time since 2019. Another first for the Cup series will include some road-course racing in San Diego, at the Naval Base Coronado in California.

A familiar track will also return this season as the Cup Series travels to North Wilkesboro Speedway for the first series points race since 1996. Also new for 2026, the Championship race will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway.

But possibly, the most exciting news is the increased horsepower (750hp) that teams will have at oval tracks shorter than 1.5 miles and at all road courses. Although the boost in horsepower is what drivers have been asking for, it is only an increase of 80 HP. It is, however, a step in the right direction.

“That gives us an opportunity to sample some of the short tracks, road courses early in the season, get a look at the engines after we’ve raced them at the new power level,”  NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer John Probst said. “If that all looks good, I would not rule out looking at increasing that horsepower at the mile and a halfs and above. It’s just something that we kind of want to crawl, walk, run with this, and so this is the start, looking at the increased power at the short tracks. If that looks well, and I’m not committing to this today, but we will consider expanding the use of that as we go forward.

“Now, some of the best racing we have right now is at our intermediate tracks, so it’s a scenario we’ll tread very lightly to make sure that we don’t upset something. It is a package. It’s the downforce, it’s the drag, it’s the power, it’s the tire wear, all together that’s creating those good shows. So, don’t want to just change one for the sake of changing it and then find out later that we did something bad there and hurt the on-track product. So we’ll proceed with caution.”

While the drivers seem pleased with the increase in horsepower, most were hoping for more.

“I would encourage you all, and fans, to not over-promote it like it’s going to fix everything,” Kyle Larson said. “I would encourage everybody to temper their expectations. It’s not way different. I did a test recently at Kershaw, and nobody told me that I had higher horsepower, and I never really realized it, so I wouldn’t say it’s going to feel different or look different.”

Christopher Bell called it “a step in the right direction.” He added, “I’m super excited about it, and I’m glad that NASCAR and the engine builders have taken a step in the right direction. It’s definitely going to play a role in the races, especially with the tires that Goodyear has been bringing. A couple of years ago, we were talking about the road courses [and how] the cars were just locked down. I can promise you, last weekend at the Charlotte road course, those things were anything but locked down, and you give us more horsepower to what we had last week, it’s going to be a big deal.”…

“It is progress. I’m good with it,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. “I mean, everybody’s been asking for it. Is it as much as maybe some people wanted? Probably not, but I think it’s going to definitely improve how the drivers feel about driving the car. Does it really change what the race looks like? I don’t think you’re going to notice a major difference.”

Tracks that will feature increased horsepower:

  • Bowman Gray Stadium
  • Circuit of the Americas
  • Phoenix Raceway
  • Darlington Raceway
  • Martinsville Speedway
  • Bristol Motor Speedway
  • Watkins Glen International
  • Dover Motor Speedway
  • Nashville Superspeedway
  • San Diego Street Course
  • Sonoma Raceway
  • North Wilkesboro Speedway
  • Iowa Speedway
  • Richmond Raceway
  • New Hampshire Motor Speedway
  • World Wide Technology Raceway
  • Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course.

The NASCAR Cup Series returns in 2026 with the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 1.

The Best Aftermarket Styling Parts for Your Range Rover Sport 2023

Now in its third generation, the Range Rover Sport combines potent petrol, diesel, and hybrid engines with the latest safety and infotainment features, along with a shortened wheelbase, to deliver exceptional driving dynamics that justify its Sport moniker. This is a full-on luxury 4WD, 4-wheel steering SUV, equally capable on and off-road. And even without the optional Stealth and Black styling packs, which add, among other extras, satin or blacked-out exterior trimmings and larger alloys, it’s the car to be seen in.

On a similar note, functional exterior accessories, ranging from roof rails to receiver hitches, simplify towing and carrying extra gear. What’s missing in the base trim SE cars are dedicated styling accessories to emphasise the muscular lines and subtle design cues that single out all Land Rovers from the run-of-the-mill SUV profiles seen elsewhere. Think splitters, spoilers and side steps paired with matching grilles. These combine with wheel arches for a lower, wider stance and mud flaps to retain the sheen in the metallic paint.

Front Splitters

Splitters are quintessential Range Rover Sport 2023 styling parts when adding visual drama to SE models. Aftermarket splitters in hard-wearing and scratch-resistant ABS or lightweight, pre-pregnated carbon fibre bring the car lower to the ground, giving it a more aggressive, performance-oriented stance. Both materials come in the same blacked-out designs seen in the five-figure Black Exterior Pack  (fitted with the factory ‘Narvik’ splitter), and save owners thousands more without having to option the Dynamic SE or range-topping SV trims.

Besides aesthetics, the parts play key performance roles. Splitters ‘split’ or disperse oncoming air into low-pressure fast-moving air under the car, and high-pressure air lingering above the roofline to increase downforce and keep the car glued to the road. This keeps the near 3-tonne Sport stable in turns while providing crisper steering response and more effective braking. Parts marginally reduce road and tyre noise, underscoring the concept of “quiet luxury” for a more refined ride. And they protect the front bumpers from scratches, dents and paint damage on uneven, pot-holed roads.

Rear Spoilers

Front splitters work with rear spoilers to manage airflow across the length of the Sport and balance grip in both axles. Rear spoilers reduce the risk of oversteer and rear-axle slippage by balancing turbulent air behind the vehicle with increased downforce. The parts integrate seamlessly into the roofline and add styling cues that justify the model name.

With a more dynamic, aggressive look, aftermarket rear spoilers combine with matching front splitters to mimic the high-end, sporty aesthetic in trims higher up the Range Rover Sport range while also providing tangible performance benefits. And like splitters, spoilers are offered as more affordable, yet durable injection-moulded ABS variants in gloss black, or if purchase price isn’t an issue, carbon fibre spoilers for improved strength and visual depth with distinctively-styled interwoven layers.

Wheel Arch Kits

Aftermarket wheel arches are another Range Rover Sport addition that continues the aggressive styling theme. The parts accentuate the muscular and bold Sport profile by going wider and eliminating gaps between the bodywork and tyres. They also provide the needed space when fitting larger alloys or high-walled off-roading tyres if you’re taking the Sport for some off-roading fun, while meeting legal requirements (with engineered components that cover tyres extending well beyond the factory bodywork). Sport owners considering improved handling with upgraded performance shocks and coilovers, or shorter braking distances with big-brake kits, will also benefit.

Consider industry-grade plastics such as ABS or polyurethane for low weight, scratch, and UV-resistance. These are usually optioned in matte or gloss black to continue the seamless look of aftermarket splitters and spoilers in similar materials. Or go with carbon-fibre for improved impact resistance against spraying gravel and road debris, and to mimic the styling language of the SV Sport range.

Side Steps

Factory-fitted, powered Land Rover side steps for the Sport can cost upwards of £3000. Save the cash for more functional upgrades, such as alloys in sizes (20″ to 22″) and finishes (matt gunmetal, gloss black, silver, etc.) to suit the rest of the car and instead use the savings for fixed aftermarket side steps. OEM-styled variants feature coated, corrosion-resistant metals to ensure strength, paired with hard-wearing ABS plastic or non-slip rubber inserts for improved grip. To ensure a cleaner look, opt for colour-coded side steps that match the factory paint, or consider subdued black and silver when upgrading the car with multiple Range Rover Sport 2023 styling parts.

A key benefit of side steps is to provide easier entry and exit and prevent slips or falls, while protecting the side panels and doors from wheel spray and road debris. With easier and safer access to the roof rails, side steps are also paramount when accessing roof rail-mounted luggage carriers or sporting gear.

Performance Exhausts

With petrol and hybrid engines varying in output between 350hp and 550hp, no L461 Range Rover Sport is short on power. But there’s always room for more. Performance exhaust systems let the turbocharged inline-6 and V-8 engines breathe, offering a balanced mix of improved airflow for increased power and torque, better durability with high-end materials, and an exhaust note befitting of a car this size.

Manufacturers use wider, straighter piping in machined stainless steel alloys in entry-level systems, and move up to titanium and nickel alloys for improved strength and heat resistance, while finishing the tips in carbon fibre (or a selection of exotic metals) to match the aesthetics achieved with splitters, spoilers, wheel arches and other Range Rover Sport 2023 styling parts.

Proprietary designs, such as valve control, also let Sport owners customise the sound from the tips. This can be manually operated, via phone apps or remotes, to change exhaust volume and flow depending on the driving environment. Or preset to adjust to changing engine loads, with sounds ranging from whisper quiet for the daily commute, or a deafening roar when you want to hear all the horsepower at work.

When shopping for exterior Range Rover Sport styling parts and accessories, consider compatibility with trims and engines, overall builds and materials, and how parts meet style and personalisation needs. Choose durable exterior bodywork in lightweight, industrial-grade plastics or carbon fibre, manufactured to exacting dimensions for a clean fit. And go with big-brand exhaust manufacturers for more performance, better sound, and exhausts that let you be seen and heard.
