CONGRUITY NHRA PRO MOD WORLD CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED IN LAS VEGAS AT RACE POWERED BY JBS EQUIPMENT

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 31, 2024) – With a host of standout contenders, the championship in the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by LearnEV+ will be on the line this weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as part of the 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals.

It is the final race in the Road to the Championship and the 10-event season in the category, and this weekend’s must-see race is powered by JBS Equipment.

An epic title chase will come down to the wire, with 16 drivers still in contention heading into the weekend. With the points-and-half scenario in play in Vegas, it should make for a wild finish and one of those contenders is JBS Equipment President and Owner Justin Bond.

Looking for his first NHRA Pro Mod world championship, Bond trails points leader Khalid Al Balooshi by just 12 points, meaning the title could come down to the final run of the year in Vegas.

“The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) is recognized as one of the largest sanctioning bodies globally, offering a prestigious platform for companies to promote their brands and support diverse racing classes,” Bond said. “In this spirit, my company, JBS Equipment, has made a deliberate decision to partner with the NHRA, focusing specifically on the Pro Modified class.

“For JBS Equipment, this collaboration represents a strategic opportunity with numerous advantages. By aligning our brand with such a prominent racing organization, we enhance our visibility and connect with a wide, relevant audience. This increased exposure not only boosts brand recognition but also positions JBS Equipment as a trusted and reputable company in the industry.”

Bond and Al Balooshi are hardly the only championship contenders in the loaded class, which will again have another huge 20-plus car field to close out a thrilling year in Las Vegas. Jordan Lazic is only 24 points out of first, while Ken Quartuccio and Mason Wright just 26 and 35 points behind the leader, respectively. Quartuccio won in Indy at the U.S. Nationals, while Wright picked up a victory in Epping.

The list of contenders doesn’t stop there, either. Former world champion Kris Thorne (-38) and Kevin Rivenbark (-50) are both within two rounds of Al-Balooshi, with the likes of Billy Banaka, Dmitry Samorukov, and former champions Mike Castellana and Jose Gonzalez close behind. Castellana is the defending event winner in Las Vegas, clinching both the championship and the race victory in the process.

Thorne has advanced to three final rounds, winning in Bristol, while Gonzalez won the season-opener in Gainesville and Rivenbark took the victory in the category’s first-ever appearance in Phoenix. It’s undoubtedly a loaded field this weekend in Las Vegas, promising intensity and excitement at a fever pitch to close out a stellar 2024 season in the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by LearnEV+.

The Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by LearnEV+ will kick off with two qualifying rounds on Friday, Nov. 1 at 11 AM and 5:10 PM PT, with the final two qualifying rounds set for 10:45 AM and 5:10 PM on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first round of eliminations is slated for 8:40 AM PT on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Quotes:

AUSTIN PROCK, DRIVER OF THE CORNWELL TOOLS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:

“I’m ready to get back after it in the Cornwell Tools Camaro. It’s been a long few off weekends (since the Dallas loss) and I’m ready to stand on the gas again. Conditions look great for some great racing (and) we’re looking for another solid weekend.

“We’re not treating this race any different than any other one. We want to go out there and run low E.T. every round and we want to win every race. If you’re competitive, and a racer, that’s what you expect, and I believe you can do that. We want to do good for JFR, we want to do good for Robert, and we want to do good for Cornwell and all our other great partners.”

JACK BECKMAN, DRIVER OF THE PEAK ANTIFREEZE AND COOLANT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:

“After not being able to race at our last event in Dallas, I am looking forward to climbing back in the PEAK Chevy this week at Las Vegas. We’ll have our boss there to cheer us on, and posting another win for him is our ultimate goal.”

BRITTANY FORCE, DRIVER OF THE CHEVROLET TOP FUEL DRAGSTER:

“I’m excited to get back to Las Vegas with my Chevrolet Accessories dragster. The Strip has always been a strong track for us and it’s easily one of my favorite places to race. We’ve had great moments there, including winning (the Nevada Nationals) in 2019 and winning both races in 2022, and to have my dad back at this year’s race would make a win even more special. With only two races left, we’re focused on finishing strong and moving up in the points for a finish we can be proud of.”

Martinsville Showdown: One Last Push for the Championship 4

Photo by Patrick Sue-Chan for SpeedwayMedia.com.

NASCAR heads to Martinsville Speedway for the final races in the Round of 8 to determine the four drivers in each series who will contend for the 2024 Championship.

Tyler Reddick (Homestead) and Joey Logano (Las Vegas) are locked into the Championship 4 with wins followed by Christopher Bell (+29) and William Byron (+7).

Hendrick Motorsports Cup Series drivers Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are looking at an uphill battle at Martinsville Speedway. Elliott only has one win in 18 races at Martinsville and needs nothing short of a victory to advance. Larson, however, has fared somewhat better than Elliott at the 0.526-mile track with two runner-up finishes in the past four races.

Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney came up short last weekend at Homestead with a heartbreaking runner-up finish followed by Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin in third. Both drivers are at risk of missing the cut for the championship battle.

Xfinity Series drivers Austin Hill (Homestead) and AJ Allmendinger (Las Vegas) are locked in with wins as Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer complete the top four heading to the cut-off race at Martinsville.

Grant Enfinger leads the Truck Series standings with wins at Talladega Superspeedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NTT and Toyota Motor Corporation agree to joint initiative in the field of mobility and AI/telecommunications with the aim of realizing a society with zero traffic accidents

Toyota City, Japan, Oct 31, 2024 – (JCN Newswire) – Today, Toyota Motor Corporation (hereafter, Toyota) and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (hereafter, NTT) have agreed to a joint initiative in the field of mobility and AI/telecommunications with the aim of realizing a society with zero traffic accidents.

Through their previous collaborations, the two companies have confirmed that they share common values, such as contributing to society through technological and industrial development, a people-centered approach, and global contributions that start in Japan. This time, they will further deepen their collaboration with the aim of achieving a “society with zero traffic accidents” as the first step towards realizing a prosperous mobility society where safety and freedom are in harmony.

In order to achieve a society with zero traffic accidents, it is necessary to take an infrastructure-cooperative approach that constantly connects people, mobility and infrastructure, in addition to the advancement of driving support technology based on data-driven technology in cars and the development of future automated driving technology.

To achieve both of these things, Toyota is developing Software Defined Vehicles (SDV) with safety and security as the top priority. Alongside the evolution of SDV, it will become more important to build infrastructure such as a high-speed, high-quality communication infrastructure, an AI infrastructure that can collect and intelligently process vast amounts of information, and a computing infrastructure.

In this collaboration, NTT, whose strengths lie in the telecommunications, and Toyota will jointly build a “Mobility AI Platform” that combines a seamless communications infrastructure with AI and computing platforms that can intelligently process large amounts of data. By doing so, they aim to connect people, mobility, and infrastructure to realize a safe, secure, and sustainable mobility society with no traffic accidents.

Details of the joint initiative

We will jointly develop and operate the “Mobility AI Platform” and use it in our efforts(1) to achieve a society with zero traffic accidents. The Mobility AI Platform is made up of multiple elements(2).

The Mobility AI Platform aims to standardize the mobility field, and we envision that it will be used not only by the two companies, but also by a wide range of industry, government, and academic partners who share the goal of realizing a society with zero traffic accidents.

Through this initiative, the two companies expect to invest a total of 500 billion yen by 2030. Starting in 2025, they will begin development of the Mobility AI Platform, and from around 2028 under the three-pronged infrastructure, they will begin social implementation and collaboration with various partners, aiming for widespread adoption from 2030 onwards.

(1) Main initiatives aimed at achieving a society with zero traffic accidents

  • Three-pronged infrastructure collaboration” to prevent collisions at blind intersections, etc.
  • Development of advanced driving support/future automated driving systems” that are data-driven, with AI learning on its own based on large amounts of driving data

(2) Elements that make up the mobility AI platform

  1. Distributed computing platform (data center)

Computing resources (data centers) for analyzing and processing vast amounts of data using AI are installed in distributed locations, utilizing IOWN’s optical communication technology. By locating them in areas rich in renewable energy, we can achieve local production for local consumption of electricity, and by achieving high power efficiency in the coordination and processing of distributed computing resources and AI, we can promote the greening of the vast amounts of electricity needed for data analysis and processing.

  1. Intelligent communication infrastructure

A system is being built to coordinate human mobility infrastructure through seamless communication that is suitable for various traffic environments and conditions in urban areas, rural areas, and suburbs. In addition to being highly reliable, it also achieves low-latency communication for large volumes of data.

  1. AI infrastructure

A platform that achieves mobility AI that learns and infers from various data from human mobility infrastructure, based on a “distributed computing infrastructure (data center)” and “intelligent communication infrastructure”.

Dylan Lupton NASCAR Xfinity Series Martinsville Speedway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s National Debt Relief 250 at Martinsville Speedway will mark Lupton’s first career Xfinity Series start at the famed 0.526-mile paperclip in the heart of Virginia.

However, Lupton did make one NASCAR Cup Series start at Martinsville during the 2016 season, competing in the Goody’s Fast Relief 500, piloting the No. 83 BK Racing Toyota Camry.

He will look to improve his overall short track average Xfinity finish of 21.7.

Dylan Lupton NASCAR Xfinity Series Career Stats: In 45 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Lupton has a career-best ninth-place finish after starting 16th for Athenian Motorsports at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August 2015.

Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway | Credit One NASCAR Amex Credit Card 300 Race Recap: The 31st race of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season kicked off with a solo trip to Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

In his Homestead return, Lupton and the AM Racing team led by crew chief Ryan “Pickle” London worked hard to improve the balance of their race car from practice to qualifying.

After picking up the pace in qualifying, Lupton started his No. 15 Lupton Excavation | AirBox Ford Mustang from the 30th position. After initially picking up a few positions at the drop of the green flag, Lupton reported an extremely loose race car, which was reflected in his track position.

Managing the looseness, Lupton stayed on the lead lap until the end of Stage 1, when London made a significant chassis adjustment to improve the car.

Lupton fired off strong at the start of Stage 2, continued to march forward, and worked to a race-high of 21st before finishing Stage 2 in the 23rd position.

With the sun beginning to set, Lupton continued to ask for more help to battle how free his race car was.

With new tires, fuel, and more adjustments, Lupton restarted inside the top 25, but early in Stage 3, a tire went down, causing him to make slight contact with the wall.

The team repaired the car with Lupton returning to the track and a couple of laps down. Lupton fought back and climbed back to 26th on the track before a right front flat tire with less than 10 laps to go sent the No. 15 AM Racing Ford Mustang to pit road for two tires.

Because of the late unscheduled stop, the team finished 32nd at the checkered flag.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Ryan “Pickle” London is Dylan Lupton’s crew chief.

He will be crew chief for his 32nd NASCAR Xfinity Series race and his third at Martinsville Speedway.

In his previous 31 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected two top-10 finishes, including a career-best ninth at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International with Joey Logano in September 2024 for AM Racing.

Dylan Lupton Quoteboard:

On Martinsville Speedway: “I’m optimistic about returning to Martinsville Speedway this weekend. Even though we did not have the finish we deserved last weekend at Homestead, I am encouraged by the changes we made throughout the race that made us more competitive.

“Without a doubt, I think running double duty will be a benefit to me. It’s all about seat time this weekend at one of the most demanding NASCAR short tracks on the schedule. I think the 200 laps on Friday night will help me get into a rhythm and get reacquainted with Martinsville.

“I’m looking for a solid finish for our AM Racing team that we can build on and head to Phoenix Raceway next weekend and end the year on a high note.”

10th Running of Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Daytona Classic 24 Hour Presented by Mission Foods This Weekend at Daytona International Speedway

  • North America’s Premier Vintage and Historic 24-Hour Race Returns to the “World Center of Racing” for the 10th Time
  • Packed Event Schedule Includes the HSR Daytona Classic 24 Hour Presented by Mission Foods and the HSR Daytona Historics Full-Season Championship Races

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (October 30, 2024) – A quality and sure-to-be competitive field of more than 140 vintage and historic sports cars from the last 60-plus years has converged on Daytona International Speedway (DIS) for the 10th Running of the HSR Daytona Classic 24 Hour Presented by Mission Foods this weekend at DIS, October 30 – November 3. A stout entry of defending and former race winners and debuting contenders is set for the Classic 24 Saturday and Sunday in addition to a strong lineup for the HSR Daytona Historics, which is a points-paying event for HSR’s season-long racing series and championships.

First held in 2014, the immediate success of the inaugural HSR Daytona Classic 24 called for a second running in 2015. After a year off, the 24-Hour classic race on the 3.56-mile DIS road course returned in 2017 and is now an annual and premier fixture on the HSR calendar.

The HSR Classic Daytona 24 features six different Run Groups competing in succession for a full 24 hours on the DIS road course. The various period-correct classes within each Run Group combine to make almost all closed-wheel competition sports cars from the last six decades eligible for Classic 24 competition.

Among the long list of intriguing in-race stories to follow is the “double-double” bid by Iconic Racing to score twin repeats of its 2023 Group A and Group F triumphs. Iconic team drivers Gérard Lopez and former professional sports car racing World Endurance Champion Marcel Fassler combined to secure overall victories in both Run Group A and Run Group F last year.

Lopez and Fassler, who was making his HSR debut, put in a pair of competitive and controlled runs in 2023, leading all four race segments in both Run Groups to give Lopez his first HSR Classic Daytona Group A triumph since 2017 in the Iconic Racing 1969 No. 60 Lola T70 Mk III.

The Iconic duo then backed up the Group A win with an equally stellar performance in the team’s debut in Run Group F, which is home to modern Prototype machines retired from active competition. Iconic ran a former JDC Motorsports 2019 No. 5 Cadillac DPi that Lopez and Fassler wheeled to another victory to complete last year’s practically perfect Classic 24 weekend.

Lopez, Fassler and Iconic, who were the first team and drivers to score a Classic 24 Run Group overall double victory since Paul Reisman and his son John Reisman accomplished the feat with Hudson Historics in the inaugural race in 2014, now look to be the first team in HSR Classic race history to pull off back-to-back double Run Group race wins in successive years. The team has returned to Daytona with the same winning 1969 Lola and 2019 Cadillac DPi.

The non-stop, five-day schedule of historic and vintage competition at DIS began Wednesday with a test session for all Run Groups and classes in both the Classic 24 and Daytona Historics.

A highlight was 1992 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of The Year and longtime women in motorsports advocate Lyn St. James – the first woman to break the 200-mph barrier on a closed circuit race course – who drove her final and farewell laps in a race car Wednesday afternoon in the 2008 No. 2 Doran Racing Ford GT Mk 7. St. James co-drove the same car to a Group E victory in the E4 class with Brad Jaeger and Memo Gidley in the 2017 HSR Classic Daytona 24.

Wednesday night, St. James will be the guest of honor in a special VIP reception recognizing her 50 years in motorsports. The event is being made possible by DIS, NASCAR, IMSA and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA), where the reception will be held in the MSHFA Museum outside of NASCAR Turn 4 at DIS just off of International Speedway Blvd.

JEG COUGHLIN JR. LOOKS TO DOUBLE DOWN IN VEGAS; JIANNA EVARISTO HOPES TO CONTINUE FAMILY SUCCESS AT THE STRIP AT LVMS

LAS VEGAS (Oct. 30, 2024) – Following his recent win in Dallas and his victory at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the spring, five-time Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. hopes to carry his momentum into this weekend’s 24th annual Ford Performance NHRA Nationals.

Coughlin, driver of the SCAG Power Equipment / Outlaw Mile Hi Light Beer Pro Stock car, has collected four wins this season, including most recently in Dallas, putting him fifth in points.

A championship is likely out of reach with four standouts ahead of him, but Coughlin is hopeful the success will continue into Las Vegas, as he looks to sweep the season at the facility and pick up his 70th career Pro Stock win in the process.

“I feel great coming into our second Vegas event of the year,” said Coughlin. “We won here in the spring and we’re coming off a win at Dallas. So we’ve got some confidence and momentum for the weekend.”

Last season, Mike Salinas (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock) all won the late-season race in Las Vegas. This year’s race will again be broadcast on FS1, with elimination coverage at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 3. It is the fifth of six races in the Countdown to the Championship and the 19th of 20 races in the 2024 season. Following his win at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in the spring, Coughlin hopes Vegas will continue to be a lucky track for him and his Elite Motorsports teammates.

“The weather looks to be on the (cooler) side and the Pro Stock cars will thrive in those cooler temps,” Coughlin said. “I can’t wait to drop the hammer on Friday.”

Coughlin currently sits in the top five in the loaded Pro Stock championship hunt. Leading the pack is KB Titan Racing standout Dallas Glenn. He currently leads Aaron Stanfield of Elite Motorsports by 53 points as the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series heads into the penultimate event of the season. Glenn and Stanfield have battled for the Pro Stock points lead all season and will both be aiming for their first NHRA title.

Veterans Greg Anderson (-90), Enders (-111) and Coughlin (-196) make up the next three spots.

In the Pro Stock Motorcycle ranks, rider Jianna Evaristo is looking for her first win of the season on her Scrappers Racing/Denso/Matt Smith Racing Buell. She has had a consistent motorcycle throughout the season, earning a runner-up finish in Bristol. Currently seventh in points, Evaristo also has visions of a top-five finish in the talent-filled category.

The good news is The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway has treated the family well in recent years. Her father, Mike Salinas, claimed the Top Fuel win last season and Evaristo hopes her family’s success in Vegas will transfer to the Pro Stock Motorcycle ranks this weekend.

To get a win, Evaristo will need to get past the powerhouse rider and reigning champion Herrera. Herrera currently leads the Pro Stock Motorcycle points thanks to his nine event wins this season. He leads Matt Smith by 62 points, while others to watch include rookie Richard Gadson, 2023 NHRA Rookie of the Year Chase Van Sant, Angie Smith and Hector Arana Jr.

In Top Fuel, Justin Ashley will look to hold off an array of championship drivers. He jumped into the points lead with his Dallas win and currently has a 44-point advantage over Antron Brown. Shawn Langdon, Steve Torrence, Tony Schumacher and Clay Millican are also in the championship mix.

Funny Car’s Austin Prock continues to lead the field and has the chance to clinch his first NHRA title. Prock leads teammate Jack Beckman, who is racing for John Force, by 147 points, with defending world champion Matt Hagan 168 points back. Force will also be in attendance this weekend, making his first appearance at the track since his crash in late June in Richmond.

The Ford Performance NHRA Nationals also will feature thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and the Summit Racing Series E.T. Finals. The weekend will also include action in Legends Nitro Funny Car class and a spectacular jet dragster exhibition after nitro qualifying on Friday and Saturday.

It’s also the final race of the 2024 season in the Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by LearnEV+, Johnson’s Horsepowered Mountain Motor Pro Stock and the new Holley EFI Factory X category.

Fans are invited to the Nitro Alley Stage in the pits, where they can take part in Nitro School, meet and greets, influencer interviews and much more. Vegas race fans can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that celebrate each of the drivers racing for the prestigious Wally on Sunday and includes the SealMaster Track Walk. The final can’t-miss experience of any NHRA event is the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday, where fans are invited to congratulate the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals event winners.

As always, fans get a pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. They can see their favorite teams in action and servicing their hot rods between rounds, get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers and more. They can also visit NHRA’s Manufacturers Midway, where sponsors and race vendors create an exciting atmosphere that includes displays, merchandise, food, and fun.

NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m. PT on Friday, Nov. 1, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 12:00 and 2:30 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. PT on Nov. 3. Television coverage includes qualifying action on FS1 at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday with eliminations at 5:00 p.m. ET.

  • Time: 3:00 ET
  • Where to watch: NBC/Peacock

Season details and race day stats

The finale of the 2024 NASCAR and the last of the playoff rounds promises the chance to witness another display of top-notch skill and talent from the best NASCAR drivers. It has an added twist as the top eight on the leaderboard and the championship four playoff drivers battle one last time for the title.

Of the top eight playoff drivers, only five are realistically in the race for top honors. They are points leader Christopher Bell, the already crowned regular season champion Tyler Reddick, together with Joey Logano, William Byron, and Kyle Larson.

Betting on the NASCAR 2024 Series Cup final

Regarding the betting favorites to win the championship, the bookies favor three players above others. Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, and Joey Logan are all valued at 3 to 1, meaning it’s there for the taking for these three riders. Kyle Larson and William Baron are set at 6 to 1 and 11 to 2, respectively. At the same time, the likes of Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, and Chase Elliot are all considered outsiders with odds of 20 to 1, 25 to 1, and 40 to 1, respectively.

Whether you are rooting for the favorites or taking a chance with the longshots, you can take advantage of the Bet365 sign-up offer when you use the special promo code by Sportytrader. This unique code available on their website offers up to 3x your deposit of up to €30 or your currency equivalent, with a minimum deposit of €5.

Likely outcome and winner of the Series finale

Despite the possibility of an outside bet winning the series, the top three, Christoper Bell, Tyler Reddick, and Joey Logan, are still the best bets. These drivers have shown consistency and exceptional skill throughout the season, with the most top finishes and an ability to perform in challenging situations. You might want to choose a spread betting option like a top 3 finish instead of an outright win to give your bet more of a safety net.

As the series finale draws closer, the race for the number one title is slowly heating up. The drivers and crew will be fine-tuning mind and machine for the defining race of the season. And just as it has been the theme through the season, we expect more action, twists, and vehicular carnage on the way to the ultimate prize.

23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick passed Denny Hamlin with two laps to go and then moved up into the high groove up against the wall to pass Ryan Blaney in the final corner on the final lap to win the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Riddick said. “I just knew I needed to get even with him on his right side door, and he raced me clean, and I appreciate it. I’m just really, really excited having a shot at the championship.”

Riddick led 97 of the 267 laps for his eighth career NASCAR Cup Series win and third of the season. With this win, Reddick secured his position in the Championship Four in two weeks at Phoenix Raceway.

“Little kid drove his ass off, and I’m proud of him,” said team owner Michael Jordan. “He didn’t let go; he just went for it, and we needed it. We needed it.”

Despite good finishes, Blaney and Hamlin are in must-win positions heading into Martinsville Speedway. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell finished fourth and now leads the series points standings by 22 points over William Byron, who finished sixth.

“Obviously, it’s disappointment – had a great shot to win, and didn’t have a very good last lap,” Blaney said. “Man, I thought I got into [turn] three hard, and the 45 just blitzed up in there, and it stuck for him, which is very impressive. ”
