GMG Racing Brings Three IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup Entries North of The Border to Montreal for F1 Weekend Doubleheader

  • Kyle Washington Looks for More Masters Class Carrera Cup Podiums in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
  • Ofir Levy Ready to Build On Competitive Miami Debut in Montreal in the No. 3 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in Pro-Am
  • James Sofronas Seeks a Return to Carrera Cup Pro-Am Victory Lane in the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada (May 5, 2024) – GMG Racing brings a season-high three entries to this weekend’s IMSA Porsche Carrera Cup North America doubleheader as one of the main support events for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Notre Dame Island in the heart of Montreal. Saturday’s opening 40-minute race is scheduled to start at 5:55 p.m. EDT with Sunday’s final sprint set to go green at 9:40 a.m. EDT.

Canadian native Kyle Washington competes in the Carrera Cup Masters Class in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. He is joined by his Pro-Am division teammates Ofir Levy in the No. 3 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and GMG Racing Driver, Founder and Team Principal James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

“Montreal is going to be an unbelievable event,” Sofronas said. “The city is spectacular, the track is phenomenal and you can’t do better than running alongside Formula 1. I know Kyle will have some home-country fans, business associates and clients there. Now, with Ofir joining the team, it will be the first time the three of us are driving together. Kyle came close to joining me and Ofir at last month’s Carrera Cup races at the F1 Grand Prix of Miami, but he was a reluctant late scratch and focused that weekend on GT World Challenge in Sebring when we couldn’t make both races work after a late schedule change. Ofir had a great Carrera Cup series debut in Miami and will improve even more in Montreal, and I am just looking to get on the podium in Canada after a victory to open the year in March at Sebring. I am looking forward to an amazing race and an even more amazing experience.”

In his most recent Carrera Cup race, Washington secured a third-place Masters Class finish in the second and final sprint of the series opening weekend in March at Sebring. He is set for his third and fourth series races of the year in Montreal as a proud participant in the first IMSA Carrera Cup events run in his home country of Canada.

“Missing Miami was tough but being able to race at home in Canada a month later is definitely a plus,” Washington said. “I have been a spectator in Montreal many times. So to say I’m excited to race here for the first time is an understatement! Plus, Montreal is just such a wild town on the Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 weekend.”

Washington competes in GMG Racing Porsches in several series and brings some recent podium momentum from those championships to Montreal as well. In his most recent races last month, Washington scored a season-best GT America powered by AWS runner-up finish at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) one week after his first race win of the year with a Masters Class Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West triumph at Utah Motorsports Campus.

Washington also experienced the thrill of hitting the podium on an F1 weekend when he scored a third-place class finish in a 2023 Carrera Cup race at Miami.

This year’s Miami Grand Prix Carrera Cup highlight for GMG was debuting driver Levy’s solid seventh-place Pro-Am finish in Sunday’s final sprint that set the stage for that day’s Formula 1 race. In his first career Carrera Cup race weekend, Levy finished both hard-fought sprints on the temporary and tight Miami circuit, avoiding the contact incidents and poor decisions that sidelined numerous competitors both days. Even with some battle scars of his own on his Porsche, Levy pressed on in the Sunday Miami race’s limited green flag runs to set some of his fastest laps of the weekend. The seventh-place result came not only in Levy’s Carrera Cup debut but also in his first race with GMG Racing.

“Montreal is a tight track, so Miami was good training for that, but rain looks like it is going to be a factor,” Levy said. “Still, it is a new track for me and most drivers, so we will all be learning regardless in the dry or wet. My goal is to keep the car in one piece and have some fun.”

Sofronas is GMG’s only driver who raced in both of the year’s opening weekends at Sebring and Miami. His highlight of the young season was a class victory in the very first race of the year at Sebring. Picking up where he left off after a sweep of 2023’s year-end Carrera Cup doubleheader at Circuit of The Americas, Sofronas secured his third-straight Pro-Am class victory in his No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in his first start at Sebring in six years.

Like Washington and Levy, Sofronas makes his first career race starts in Montreal this weekend. He does have a flash of experience driving on the track in the wet, however, and that could prove useful with double-digit percentage chances of rain predicted for the Montreal area all weekend.

“I have a career total of two laps on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve,” Sofronas said. “I was coaching our good friend and teammate Brent Holden in Ferrari Challenge well over 10 years ago. On my out-lap, it started to drizzle and then the skies opened up and they red flagged the session. We were all on slicks and everybody had to slowly tiptoe in. Some cars crashed doing just 20 mph, but I managed to bring it in. I have basically a lap and a half at 20 mph in torrential rain, and it was all I could do to save the car from going off. The track was just flooded! So, I really have no experience on the track other than survival, and that was a good 12 years ago.”

Following morning and afternoon practice sessions on Friday, qualifying takes place Saturday morning to set the field for that afternoon’s first race at 5:55 p.m. EDT. Sunday’s final round closes out the Carrera Cup Montreal weekend at 9:40 a.m. EDT.

Both Montreal weekend Carrera Cup races can be viewed at IMSA.TV and PorscheCarreraCup.us and on NBC’s Peacock streaming app before archiving on the Porsche Motorsport North America YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@PorscheMotorsportNorthAmerica.

Notes of Interest:

Sophomore Journey: After a successful rookie campaign in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last season with driver Brett Moffitt, AM Racing will embark on its sophomore journey in 2024 with driver Hailie Deegan for the entire 33-race tour, continuing with Saturday afternoon’s Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway.

The Statesville, N.C.-based team hopes to expand its footprint in the NASCAR Xfinity Series by running two cars throughout the season with its partial No. 25 AM Racing entry.

Future Focused: Last October, AM Racing announced that Hailie Deegan joined the family-owned operation to pilot the team’s No. 15 Ford Mustang in a multiyear agreement.

Deegan, a native of Temecula, Calif. has been a staple in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series for the past three seasons but will embrace her rookie season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as part of the Ford Performance program.

Deegan grew up racing off-road and on dirt but transitioned to competing on asphalt in 2016 to pursue a career in stock car racing. She began that transition in 2018 in the ARCA Menards Series West (previously NASCAR K&N Pro Series West). She became the first female driver to win races in the West Series, doing so in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, respectively.

Deegan, 22, arrives at AM Racing after a stint driving for ThorSport Racing in 2023.

Welcome Aboard: For the first time this season, AM Racing and Deegan welcome Viva Tequila Seltzer as the primary marketing partner for the team’s No. 15 Ford Mustang for the third road course race of the season.

Sonoma debuts the new partnership between Viva Tequila Seltzer and the family-owned AM Racing team that will include several primary partnerships in Viva’s inaugural Motorsports journey.

Founded in July 2020 by three former college athletes in Boston, Massachusetts, Viva Tequila Seltzer redefines indulgence with its creation of a healthier tequila-based seltzer. Rooted in health and wellness, Viva offers flavors like Huckleberry, Elderberry, Watermelon and Grapefruit.

Each can is just 88 calories, zero carbs, and zero sugar, while being gluten-free, keto-friendly, vegan, paleo, non-GMO, and kosher.

Stemming from a shared passion of athletics, the founders desired a drink that fit their active lifestyles without compromising taste.

The result is a premium product that doesn’t make you sacrifice your diet while being awesomely refreshing.

Come See Me: Hailie Deegan will attend two Viva Tequila Seltzer appearances near Sonoma, Calif. promoting their first race with AM Racing this season in Wine Country.

On Thursday, June 6, Deegan will visit Total Wine & More Santa Rosa (2705 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95407) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PT.

The next morning on Friday, June 7, she’ll appear at Broadway Market (20511 Broadway, Sonoma, CA 95476) from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. PT.

Giving You Peace of Air: For the 14th time in 2024, AirBox will serve in a major partnership role on

Deegan’s No. 15 Ford Mustang in Saturday afternoon’s Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway.

In 2017, AirBox was established to focus on building the world’s best air purifiers for indoor occupied spaces. This coincided with people starting to wake up to issues with indoor air quality. With new challenges to air cleanliness, such as COVID-19 and wildfire smoke, people are looking for effective and proven solutions to ensure they receive cleaner air, at last.

Their history in delivering clean air systems and services gives them an expertise that is unmatched. AirBox uses some of the most effective air filtration technologies that exist with Certified HEPA and Advanced Molecular Adsorption. Coupled with their Indoor Air Quality Assessment, AirBox is the total solution for all indoor air quality needs, ensuring their customers meet and exceed current and future ventilation standards.

Today, AirBox filtration systems are used across the country, purifying the air and capturing harmful irritants to create healthier, safer spaces. They’re proud to build all products to the highest standards in the USA at their North Carolina production facility. Every day, AirBox is working hard to give the American people the safer learning, working, and living environments they deserve—helping people breathe easy and live better.

Hailie Deegan NASCAR Xfinity Series Sonoma Raceway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 will mark Deegan’s inaugural Xfinity Series start at the 1.99-mile road course, nestled in the southern Sonoma Mountains of Sonoma County, California.

Deegan, however, does own two prior ARCA Menards Series West starts at the famed northern California race track from 2018 – 2019, respectively.

Her track-best result occurred in her debut during the 2018 Carneros 200, where she steered to a seventh-place finish after starting third for Bill McAnally Racing.

She returned to the 10-turn road course during the 2019 season, where she netted one of her five career ARCA West poles before finishing eighth at the checkered flag.

Most recently, Deegan competed in the lone NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Sonoma in 2022, where she qualified ninth but finished 32nd during the Door Dash 250 for David Gilliland Racing (now TRICON Garage).

This weekend’s third Xfinity Series road course of the season will also mark Deegan’s third career road course start.

Hailie Deegan NASCAR Xfinity Series Career Stats: In 14 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Deegan has a career-best 12th-place finish after starting 31st for AM Racing at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in April 2024.

In addition to her 12 Xfinity Series starts, she has achieved 70 ARCA Menards Series starts, including three wins and 69 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series starts to her credit.

Thanks For Your Support: With 39 percent of the 2024 Xfinity Series season complete, AM Racing and Hailie Deegan would like to thank their marketing partners for their support: AirBox, Flying Circle, Klutch Vodka, Mechanix Wear, Monster Energy Drink, Mobil 1, Viva Tequila Seltzer and WIX Filters.

Portland International Raceway | Pacific Automation 147 Race Recap: The 13th race of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season kicked off in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, June 1.

Flying the AirBox colors for the eighth consecutive weekend, Deegan started her No. 15 AirBox Ford Mustang from the 38th position.

Despite starting the second Xfinity Series road course race deep in the field, she was quickly able to maneuver forward, but her progress would be short-lived.

Before the end of Stage 1, Deegan experienced issues under the hood of her race car. After losing a lap initially, the AM Racing team diagnosed a spark plug issue. Despite several efforts to combat the issue that prevented additional horsepower to be applied, Deegan would fight through the adversity and finish the race in the 33rd position at the checkered flag.

From the Pit Box: Industry veteran Matt Lucas is Hailie Deegan’s crew chief.

He will be crew chief for his 106th NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday and his first at Sonoma Raceway.

In his previous 105 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, he has collected two wins, 22 top-five and 39 top-10 finishes.

“Portland definitely did not go as planned and after our solid finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago, we need that momentum back to carry us to the races on the horizon.”

The NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) will make the trek out west to rejoin the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) for a doubleheader weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Located within the pristine southern Sonoma mountains, the 1.99-mile road course will deliver a whole new set of challenges as drivers and teams in NASCAR’s two top series will hit the circuit for the first time since the repave that was completed earlier this year.

This weekend will mark just the second road course event for NASCAR’s premier series this season, as well as the second-straight, and third overall, for the NXS in 2024. A common denominator among each of those events is the winning manufacturer as Chevrolet drivers have claimed the victories in each of the NCS and NXS road course races thus far this season.

Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series at Sonoma Raceway:

Sunday’s Toyota / Save Mart 350 will mark the NASCAR Cup Series’ 35th appearance at Sonoma Raceway. The 1.99-mile northern California road course is yet another track that Chevrolet holds the all-time win record in NASCAR’s top division, with the Bowtie brand heading into the weekend with 13 all-time victories at the circuit. Eight different drivers have contributed to those victories, led by career Chevrolet driver Jeff Gordon with five triumphs – a record that still stands today. Two active Team Chevy drivers have reached victory lane in NASCAR’s top division at Sonoma Raceway, including Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson (2021) and Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez (2022).

TOPPING IN THE NEXT GEN ERA

Since the beginning of the Next Gen era in 2022, the NASCAR Cup Series has contested 12 road course events. Team Chevy’s William Byron took the Bowtie brand to victory lane in the series’ most recent road course race at Circuit of The Americas in March 2024, giving Chevrolet its eighth NCS road course win in the Next Gen era. Byron is one of six different Team Chevy drivers to earn a road course victory in the Next Gen Camaro ZL1, with others including Byron’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson (one win), Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger (one win), Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez (one win each), and Tyler Reddick with Richard Childress Racing (two wins).

CALIFORNIANS WITH SONOMA SUCCESS

A handful of California natives have a history success in the NASCAR national ranks at Sonoma Raceway, including NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon, Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson and Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger.

A native of Vallejo, California, career Chevrolet driver Jeff Gordon has notched a series-best five NASCAR Cup Series victories at Sonoma Raceway. Gordon also continues to hold the record in a variety of statistical measures at the Northern California circuit, including average finishing position (8.3), runner-up finishes (five), top-fives (14), top-10s (18), laps led (457) and pole wins (five). Throughout his storied career in NASCAR’s top division, Gordon earned the title as the winningest road course driver in series’ history with nine all-time victories – a record he still holds today.

Elk Grove, California, native Kyle Larson earned his first career NCS road course victory at Sonoma Raceway in 2021. Since that victory, the former series’ champion is a four-time road course winner in NASCAR’s top division – also tallying two victories at Watkins Glen International (2021 and 2022) and one victory at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course (2021). In nine career NCS starts at his home track of Sonoma Raceway, Larson has notched one top-five, three top-10s and four poles. Larson also holds the series’ qualifying record at the 1.99-mile circuit – set in his sophomore season in NASCAR’s top division (2015).

On tap to pull double duty in a pair of Kaulig Racing Chevrolet’s, AJ Allmendinger has become a road course ringer in the NASCAR national ranks. The Los Gatos, California, native has 14 career road course victories at the NASCAR national level, including all three of his NCS victories (Watkins Glen International – 2014; Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course – 2021; Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course – 2023). Allmendinger has also tallied 11 career NXS road course victories, earning the record as the only driver in series’ history to produce a double-digit win count on road courses.

CROWNS AT EVERY CONFIGURATION

With the second-half of the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season underway, Chevrolet continues to lead the series with seven victories in 15 points-paying races. Unique to its manufacturer competitors, the Bowtie brand has already earned a victory on every race track configuration that the series competes at this season, including two wins at superspeedway/drafting-style ovals (Daytona International Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway), three wins at intermediate-style ovals (Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway), one road course win (Circuit of The Americas) and one short-track win (Martinsville Speedway).

VAN GISBERGEN GETS ANOTHER ‘FIRST’

Shane van Gisbergen became a first-time winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after piloting his No. 97 Kaulig Racing Camaro SS to a hard-fought victory at Portland International Raceway last weekend. The three-time Australian Supercars Champion is the fifth different Team Chevy driver to earn an automatic playoff berth by virtue of a win. In his short stint in the NASCAR national ranks, van Gisbergen has proven to be a force to be reckoned with when making left- and right-hand turns, with the Team Chevy driver also scoring a history-making victory in the NASCAR Cup Series’ inaugural Chicago Street Race last season.

Team Chevy drivers head into the series’ third road course appearance this season with unmatched momentum. In addition to a pair of victories, the Bowtie brand has earned both pole wins (Kyle Larson at Circuit of The Americas; Sam Mayer at Portland International Raceway), three of the four stage wins, and seven top-10 finishes in each road course race.

BROWN SET FOR NASCAR CUP SERIES DEBUT

Repco Supercars Championship points leader, Will Brown, will make the jump from his No. 87 Triple Eight Race Engineering Chevrolet to the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet at Sonoma Raceway for his first career NASCAR Cup Series start. The 25-year-old Toowoomba, Queensland, native filled the seat of the Triple Eight Race Engineering Chevrolet following Shane van Gisbergen’s transition into full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series competition. Brown will be the second Australian Supercars star to make his series’ debut behind Richard Childress Racing’s third entry – joining the likes of Brodie Kostecki, who piloted the No. 33 Camaro ZL1 to an 11th place finish at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course last season.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

ROSS CHASTAIN, NO. 1 KUBOTA CAMARO ZL1

How was the Sonoma test for you?

“Fast. We were around three seconds faster than the track record. Now, they have patched and repaved several spots since I’ve been there. SVG went recently with the wheel force car and he had different feedback in some corners from different things they had patched and repaved. When we were there it was all one coat and then right after we left they started changing it. It’s really fast and the asphalt is very fresh and dark.”

Did you take anything away from your teammate winning at the Sonoma road course?

“Absolutely. Daniel and I train closer than I ever have with a teammate. Part of that was because early on I didn’t do any of that. I’ve found that Daniel and I really line up well and so we talk about it almost daily about different tracks, philosophies and things like that. Especially on road courses there’s so much to gain from him.”

How important is track position going to be at Sonoma because it may be hard to pass?

“Normally on repaves you just run the shortest distance but with SMI and these repaves they’ve done a unique and I think a good job of their approach. I think we all saw that at North Wilkesboro. They’re doing it different and you’re seeing some growing pains with Sonoma but they’re working on it and they’ll get it figured out. Sonoma is not going to be the same track as when I tested, or when Shane (Van Gisbergen) tested so we’ll see how it is when we get there this weekend.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 GET BIOETHANOL CAMARO ZL1

How do you prepare for Sonoma Raceway?

“We prepare for Sonoma Raceway by spending a lot of hours on the Chevrolet simulator. I could probably run Sonoma in my sleep. We’ve put a lot of effort into this race. I can’t wait to get there in the No. 3 Get Bioethanol Chevrolet Camaro. It’s a fun road course and the recent repave of the full course will test everyone’s setup during practice on Friday.”

KYLE BUSCH, NO. 8 ZONE CAMARO ZL1

Sonoma has been repaved for the first time in 23 years. What are some of the challenges that you expect with the new asphalt?

“I would say some of the challenges with new asphalt is the difficulty in passing. There’s going to be so much grip that it’ll be hard to find any sort of advantage over guys. There won’t be much tire fall off. I would say that a repave on a road course differs from an oval just based off of the tire and tire choice that is determined.”

Do you think the new pavement will radically change how you race at Sonoma?

“Normally at ovals they have to come out with such a hard tire and at a road course I don’t think you have to have as hard of a tire for heat reasons. I do not think the new payment will radically change anything at Sonoma because they’re still going to be pit strategy and fuel strategy involved. You’ll still run the race like a typical road course from the finish and back your strategy up from there.”

You ran really well last year at Sonoma, scoring a second-place finish at leading 17 laps. Is there anything you can take from that strong performance and apply it to this race?

“We did have a really good run last year at Sonoma, but with the track being repaved and constant change happening around the series with this new car, I don’t think anything really applies from last year specifically to this year. Obviously just having laps around Sonoma for the last 20 years is helpful.”

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 16 CIRKUL CAMARO ZL1

“I always look forward to racing at my home racetrack. It’s going to be a new challenge with the repave but I’m excited to get on track in both the Cup and Xfinity car.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 48 ALLY PRIDE CAMARO ZL1

Bowman on racing at the newly repaved Sonoma Raceway:

“It (Sonoma Raceway) is going to be completely different than what we’ve ever seen there- or at least what I’ve seen there. Going to a place that’s always been really slick, I feel like it (the track) is probably going to have a ton of grip and be a lot faster with a lot less tire fall off. It’s kind of a different style race. I think qualifying is going to be super important. Hopefully our Ally Racing team can position ourselves to fall on the right side of all that.”

BLAKE HARRIS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 48 ALLY PRIDE CAMARO ZL1

Harris on driver Alex Bowman racing at road courses and competing at the newly repaved Sonoma Raceway:

“The fact that we are sitting top 10 in points at this point in the season is great. Our Ally Racing team just needs to go to Sonoma and have a solid weekend. We’ve had a lot of good runs and good pace at road courses this year. Really, Alex does great at these tracks (road courses). I think this weekend is kind of a reset for everybody. Not a lot of people have been on (Sonoma Raceway’s) new pavement and we as a team need to go capitalize on that and put a full race together. We let a few extra points slip away last weekend (at World Wide Technology Raceway) with some issues that we had- so hopefully we can go get back on track and earn a good finish this Sunday.”

DANIEL SUAREZ, NO. 99 FREEWAY INSURANCE CAMARO ZL1

Have you started preparing for the repaved Sonoma Raceway?

“Yes and it is going to be fast. We did a little bit of preparation last week and it was very quick. It’s going to be a different weekend because we are going to have a full practice on Friday before qualifying. It’s going to be nice to get some extra laps in and work on some things.”

Thoughts on returning to Sonoma?

“Definitely excited, man. Every time we head to a road course, whether it’s Sonoma (Raceway), or somewhere else, I am excited. I feel at home and I am excited to go back to a place where we had great memories and hopefully we can repeat it.”

Thoughts on your team’s progress?

“My team has been doing a good job and I feel like we have been learning a lot this last month. I don’t think we have shown how strong the No. 99 is just yet. Hopefully we can show that in the next two months.”

What do you remember about winning the 2022 race in Sonoma?

“It was such a crazy day and I had so many thoughts in my head. I mean, it was a rough road getting to victory lane but that moment was so worth it. Not just for me but for my family, Julia, these guys believe in me – Trackhouse Racing, Justin Marks, Ty Norris. Everyone that helped me to get to this point. A lot of people in Mexico. My family, they never give up on me. A lot of people did, but they didn’t. I was just very happy we were able to make it work.”

What were the final laps like in 2022?

“I was just trying to stay calm. I knew that it was a big stake on the line, but I was trying to stay calm. I was silent. I wanted to do my thing. I didn’t want too much noise on the radio. I knew what I had to do. I would say after the white flag is when I got out of control. I just start crying inside the helmet, just thinking about it. Especially because I had a big gap. If it wasn’t a big gap, I would be focused. Since I had a big gap, I was just thinking about every single moment that has cost me to be here.

It’s been a different journey. Every NASCAR driver has had a tough journey. Everyone has a different journey. But my journey is definitely the most different of everyone else, leaving my family, my country, and just coming to a different culture, different language. Thinking of all those things, it makes it very, very, very special.”

For more details, visit https://bestgaragedoorrepairandservice.com/mission-viejo/. It’s the most significant moving part of your home, critical in energy efficiency, security, and cost savings. Proper upkeep prevents costly repairs, enhances the door’s operation, and ensures it remains a reliable barrier and entry point. Regular maintenance isn’t merely about operational efficiency; it’s also a safety and security measure. A robust garage door helps deter potential break-ins and is essential to your home’s defense system. By adhering to the forthcoming maintenance suggestions and strategies, you can guarantee the ongoing efficiency of your garage door, thus upholding the security and seamless operation of your residence within Orange County’s vibrant locale.

Proper operation of garage doors

Understanding your garage door system

A garage door system includes the door panels, tracks, and torsion system (springs, torsion bar, drums, cables, hardware, and opener) and an opener. Every component contributes significantly to the seamless functioning of the system. Misuse or neglect can lead to wear and tear, reducing efficiency and lifespan. Regular maintenance is crucial to preventing issues and ensuring longevity.

Tips for everyday use

  1. Gentle use: Carefully handle the opener button or remote. If the door doesn’t open immediately, avoid repeatedly pressing the button; this could indicate a need for maintenance.

  2. Observe and listen: Be alert to unusual noises or movements. It sounds like grinding, screeching, or visual cues like off-track rollers signal the need for attention.

  3. Family awareness: Educate all household members on safe garage door use, emphasizing the dangers of playing near or under moving doors and correctly using the emergency release.

  4. Remote control security: Treat your garage door remote as a key to your home. Keep it secure and ensure intelligent opener systems are connected to a protected Wi-Fi network.

Understanding your garage door’s mechanics and adopting these valuable tips can significantly contribute to its durability and safety.

Regular maintenance for optimal performance

Scheduling professional maintenance

Regular professional checks are essential for extending your garage door’s lifespan, enhancing safety, and ensuring efficient operation. If your door receives heavy use or experiences extreme weather, aim for a professional inspection by a local Mission Viejo service annually or bi-annually. Experts can catch and fix minor issues early, preventing costly repairs later.

DIY maintenance checklist

Between professional visits, you can perform simple maintenance tasks:

  1. Visual inspection: Monthly check of tracks, springs, cables, and hardware for wear or damage.
  2. Lubrication: Bi-annual application of silicone-based lubricant to moving parts like springs and rollers.
  3. Balance test: Manually lift the door halfway to check the spring balance. If it doesn’t stay put, professional adjustment is needed.
  4. Reversal test: Ensure the door reverses when encountering an obstacle to confirm that safety features are functional.
  5. Cleaning: Wash door panels and windows with soap and water to prevent corrosion and keep them looking fresh.

Contact the Best Garage Door Repair and Service in Mission Viejo, CA, for complex issues or maintenance beyond DIY capabilities. Professional support is crucial for tasks that require specific expertise or equipment.

Regular upkeep, through professional services and homeowner diligence, is critical to a long-lasting, efficiently operating garage door.

Cleaning and lubrication: key to smooth operation

Cleaning your garage door

Ensuring cleanliness for your garage door is more than just about appearances; it’s fundamental to its long-term performance and durability. Dust and other particles may build up on various parts of the door, tracks, and sensors, potentially causing operational disruptions or long-term damage.

  1. Door Panels: Employ a soft cloth or sponge soaked in a mild soap solution to cleanse the panels delicately. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry. This should be done every few months or more frequently in dusty areas or coastal regions near Mission Viejo.

  2. Tracks: Clear the tracks of debris using a brush or cloth. Do not lubricate the tracks, as this can attract more dirt. However, ensuring they are clean and clear is crucial for smooth operation.

  3. Sensors: Gently wipe the sensors with a dry, soft cloth. Keep the area around the sensors clear of cobwebs and dust to ensure proper functionality.

Utilize a gentle soap solution alongside a soft cloth or sponge for meticulous panel cleansing.

Lubricating moving parts

Proper lubrication is vital for your garage door’s smooth and quiet operation. It reduces friction among moving parts, prolonging their life and preventing noisy operations.

  1. Choosing the proper lubricant: Use a silicone or lithium-based spray lubricant for garage doors. Avoid using WD-40 or grease, which can attract dirt and gum up the components.
  2. Application:
    • Rollers: Lightly spray them, but avoid the nylon wheels if your rollers have them. Just target the bearings.
    • Springs: Administer a light lubricant layer onto the torsion springs above the door to maintain seamless movement.
    • Hinges: Spray a small amount onto each hinge, focusing on the pivot points. Do not lubricate plastic hinges.
  3. Frequency: If you notice squeaking or resistance during operation, perform lubrication every six months or more.

Regularly cleaning and lubricating your garage door ensures its efficient and quiet operation. These simple tasks can significantly impact the door’s longevity and your home’s security and curb appeal in Mission Viejo.

Addressing minor repairs promptly

Identifying common issues

Quickly fixing minor problems can prevent major ones. Look out for:

  • Misaligned sensors: If the door reverses unexpectedly, adjust the sensors.
  • Loose hardware: Regularly tighten bolts and brackets.
  • Noisy or stiff operation: This often means parts need lubrication.
  • Damaged weather stripping: Replace it to keep out pests and weather.

Spotting these early saves on future repair costs.

DIY fixes vs. Professional repairs

For simple fixes:

  • Adjust sensors: Align them until the indicator lights show they’re parallel.
  • Tighten bolts: Use a wrench to secure any loose components.
  • Lubricate: Use silicone-based lubricant on squeaky parts.

Contact professionals like BGD for severe issues like broken springs or frayed cables. These repairs can be hazardous and require expert attention to ensure safety and effectiveness.

When to seek professional repair services

Recognizing the signs for help

Specific issues with your garage door require immediate professional attention:

  • Non-responsive door: Indicates possible opener or severe issues.
  • Unusual noises: Grinding or snapping sounds mean part wear or damage.
  • Sagging door sections Could signal balance problems.
  • Broken springs or frayed cables are safety hazards that need expert repair.

These indicate that you need our professional help.

Conclusion

Regular maintenance and timely professional repairs are vital to extending the life and ensuring the safety of your garage door in Mission Viejo. From basic cleaning and lubrication to addressing more complex issues like spring or opener repairs, taking care of your garage door is essential for home upkeep.

Justin Haley, Driver of the No. 51 Jacob Construction Ford Mustang Dark Horse

● As the NASCAR Cup Series treks to Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, Rick Ware Racing (RWR) driver Justin Haley hopes to keep the ball rolling for the No. 51 Jacob Construction team after scoring its second top-10 of the season. Haley’s ninth-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) in Madison, Illinois, was his best at the 1.25-mile track and matched his best finish this season for RWR.

● The newly repaved, 1.99-mile, 10-turn road course in Sonoma, where Haley owns three starts with a best finish of 12th, earned in 2022, is the perfect opportunity for the 25-year-old to better his top finish of the season. He’s already shown the No. 51 team is capable of carrying speed through left- and right-hand turns after a standout performance in the first road-course event of the year March 24 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. Haley crossed the finish line fourth but the result was later nullified with a disqualification following post-race technical inspection.

● The showing at COTA wasn’t a surprise coming from Haley, who has two top-five finishes and three top-10s among 19 Cup Series road-course starts, and has led 23 laps en route to a runner-up finish at last year’s inaugural Chicago Street Race. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he owns four top-fives and 10 top-10s in 16 road-course starts, including two runner-up finishes – 2020 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and 2021 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington.

● Following Sunday’s race at WWTR, Haley stands sixth among drivers in laps completed (4,328) and miles completed (5,407.04), and first among the Ford drivers in the same categories. His eight lead-lap finishes through the first 15 races surpasses a season total for any RWR driver to date. In addition, Haley’s ninth-place finishes, earned in two of the last three races, mark the first time an RWR driver has earned top-10 finishes in the same timeframe.

Kaz Grala, Driver of the No. 15 N29 Capital Partners Ford Mustang Dark Horse

● Grala returns to the No. 15 N29 Capital Partners Ford Mustang Dark Horse for RWR for his first Sonoma start in the Cup Series. Grala does own one Xfinity Series start at at the track, which resulted in an 20th-place finish in 2023. The 25-year-old driver has four top-fives and eight top-10s in 19 Xfinity Series starts on road courses with a best finish of fourth earned in 2020 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

● Grala finished 14th in his lone NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Sonoma in 2022 and also competed in the ARCA Menards Series West event at the track in 2015, finishing 17th.

● Grala’s first career Cup Series start came in 2020 on the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway road course. He started 10th in the field of 39 cars piloting the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing entry and led three laps en route to a seventh-place finish. It’s his best finish in three Cup Series starts on road courses.

● The Boston native is no stranger to making left and right turns. In 2014, at the age of 15, Grala became the youngest driver ever to compete in an IMSA event when he drove in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. Two years later, he made his debut in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he was the youngest driver in the field, co-piloting a GT3-class car for RWR president Robby Benton.

Rick Ware Racing Notes

● Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series Top Fuel driver Clay Millican heads to Bristol, Tennesse for this weekend’s Thunder Valley Nationals. The RWR driver advanced to semifinals last weekend at the New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire, where he was bested by Tony Schumacher. Millican moved up to sixth in the driver standings with his semifinal result.

● Rick Ware has been a motorsports mainstay for more than 40 years. It began at age six when the third-generation racer began his driving career and has since spanned four wheels and two wheels on both asphalt and dirt. Competing in the SCCA Trans Am Series and other road-racing divisions led Ware to NASCAR in the early 1980s, where he finished third in his NASCAR debut – the 1983 Warner W. Hodgdon 300 NASCAR Grand American race at Riverside (Calif.) International Raceway. More than a decade later, injuries would force Ware out of the driver seat and into fulltime team ownership. In 1995, Rick Ware Racing was formed, and with wife Lisa by his side, Ware has since built his eponymous organization into an entity that fields two fulltime entries in the NASCAR Cup Series while simultaneously campaigning successful teams in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, Progressive American Flat Track and FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), where RWR won the 2022 SX2 championship with rider Shane McElrath.

Justin Haley, Driver Q&A

When you start to knock down consistent top-10 finishes, there’s a lot of talk about momentum. Do you feel like momentum is real, or is it just the result of hard work?

“A little bit. The better you run, it just kind of snowballs and this sport has always been like that. People have always said once you get your first one, the rest are easier, and not that we’ve won but it’s kind of the same theory. But it is the work that’s put in. You try so hard to have those good runs and, once you get it, you know what led to it and it’s going to keep producing those good runs. You have that setup, you have your notes, and then you just go from there. So yeah, we’ve got a lot of momentum right now and have had it over the past few weeks. We’ve been really good. I feel like even our Charlotte race could have been a lot better if we would have been able to finish the whole distance. The cars are driving really well right now. They’re super fast and competitive.”

What will be the biggest challenge at Sonoma this weekend?

“Going into Sonoma this year, the repave is the talk of the town. I know there’s been some tire testing out there and stuff like that. I’ve heard the cars that tested were around three seconds faster than they we’ve been in the past, so that will make it interesting – the tire fall-off and the tire wear and the tire heat and things like that. You really had to manage your stuff for a run in the past. I’m curious to go out and see if the same old bumps around the track are still there or if repave has taken those out. I feel like I’ve always been decent at Sonoma. We were really quick at COTA and qualified in the top-15, so if we have anything similar to the package we had a COTA, I feel like we will be quite competitive.”

Kaz Grala, Driver Q&A

This Sunday will mark your first Cup Series start at Sonoma, but it’s not your first time competing on the track. How comfortable do you feel about this weekend’s race?

“Sonoma is a track I’ve really enjoyed racing at in the past. I think the repave is a bit of an unknown for everyone, but it seems like we’ll be seeing a bit more speed than what the track has allowed in the past. The RWR cars have been really competitive over the last few weeks and I think we learned a lot at the first road course of the year, so we should be able to keep things moving in the right direction.”

What makes a road course enjoyable for a driver?

“I think it depends on your background and the type of driver you are. Success always helps, and I’ve done really well on the more technical road courses, and I’ve had the benefit of running road courses all throughout my career. I think that helps a lot in certain situations. If you get behind, you know what you need to do to get back to the front and that you’re capable. I don’t need to overthink or stress about where we qualify or if we have a bad pit stop because I know I have the tools to get that position back and give the No. 15 team a good finish.”

Burton, DEX Imaging Team Getting Ready For Repaved Sonoma

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging team are set to take on the newly repaved Sonoma Raceway.

It’s the first repave of the entire track in 23 years, and that has teams like Burton and the DEX Imaging crew looking for higher speeds on the 10-turn, 1.99-mile layout.

“This will be an interesting week with Sonoma having been repaved,” said crew chief Jeremy Bullins. “It’s always been a hot, slick weekend, but now the track will have a lot of grip.

“Based on the testing that’s happened the lap times will be a lot faster.”

The weekend schedule has been crafted to allow teams and drivers extra time to adapt to the new surface.

“It will be nice to get a practice this weekend and be able to try some changes we don’t normally get to make and keep working on our race cars,” Bullins said. “The repave will also probably impact the race strategy as we will see a lot less fall off [of speeds during a run] than your typical Sonoma race.”

A 50-minute practice session is set for Friday at 2:05 p.m. local time (5:05 Eastern Time) with TV coverage on FOX Sports 1.

Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. (6 p.m. Eastern) with FOX Sports 2 carrying the TV coverage.

Sunday’s 110-lap, 218.9-mile race is expected to get the green flag just after 12:30 p.m. (3:30 Eastern) with TV coverage on FOX.

Stage breaks are planned for Laps 25 and 55.
