This weekend the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series head to Darlington Raceway. It will mark the beginning of the Cup Series Round of 16 in the Playoffs while the Xfinity Series has three races remaining in its regular season.
Tuesday evening, NASCAR announced that Jeremy Clements Racing was issued an L2 penalty following Friday’s Xfinity Series win at Daytona International Speedway following a post-race inspection. As a result, Clement’s victory will not advance him to the Playoffs.
The 37-year-old native from Spartanburg, South Carolina, led the final three of 118 over-scheduled laps en route to his second Xfinity Series career victory at Daytona.
The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion dodged an on-track incident involving teammate Byron and Gibbs to lead the final five laps and grab his first Xfinity victory in four years.
