LONG POND, PA (May 17, 2012) – Pocono Raceway has partnered with Barley Creek Brewing Co. to bring an infield Wiffle ball field to “The Tricky Triangle” during both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekends this summer. Participation at ‘Barley Creek Field’ will be free for all infield patrons, and those 21 years of age or older will have the opportunity to purchase select craft beers from the Tannersville, PA-based brewery, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting United Way of Monroe County.

Barley Creek Field will be centrally located on Tunnel Road in close proximity to other infield fan activities being offered.  The field will be open during the Pocono 400 race weekend from Thursday, June 7 – Sunday, June 10 and during the Pennsylvania 400 race weekend from Friday, August 3 – Sunday, August 5. Exact times will be determined at a later date.

“The infield Wiffle ball field adds a whole new element of entertainment for our infield patrons this summer,” said Brandon Igdalsky, President and CEO of Pocono Raceway. “We are excited about Barley Creek joining us at the Raceway this summer and we think they will be a natural fit for our infield guests. We thank the staff at Barley Creek and look forward to kicking off our partnership at the NASCAR Viewing Party next Sunday!”

The two afore-mentioned organizations will ‘tap’ their relation by co-hosting the “Pocono Raceway Wiffle Ball Tournament and NASCAR Viewing Party” at Barley Creek Brewing Company on Sunday, May 27th, starting at 4 p.m. ET. The tournament will consist of teams, with four players each, competing against one another for a Pocono Raceway Infield Experience for four to the June 10 Pocono 400.

Participating teams are asked to register on the day of the event at ‘Pint-Size Park,’ located behind the brewery, by 3:30 p.m. Following the tournament, everyone is invited inside Barley Creek’s Onyx Room to watch the 600-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Charlotte. During the race broadcast, the Raceway will have interactive games and great giveaways including: tickets to the Pocono 400 race weekend, autographed driver memorabilia and more!
