MERCURY & WALKER’S MARINE GO FOR RIDE WITH EDDIE SHARP RACING IN NCWTS FINALE

Mercury and Walker’s Marine Back the No. 6 Chevrolet at Homestead-Miami Speedway

DENVER, N.C. (November 14, 2012) – Eddie Sharp’s path to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) didn’t start with four wheels and an oval track like it does for most team owners in the motorsports world. Instead, Sharp’s career in motorsports began racing hydroplane boats in his home state of Florida. This weekend, Sharp’s two racing worlds will collide as the logos of Mercury Marine and Walker’s Marine take over the No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) Chevrolet for the NCWTS season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“We are so proud to have Mercury on the truck this weekend,” commented team owner Eddie Sharp. “We are all avid boaters, and like ESR, Mercury is the best at what they do. I am thrilled to expand my relationship with Mercury and Walker’s Marine from the water to the race track.”

In a partnership between the two companies, the No. 6 Chevrolet of Justin Lofton will take on a new look this weekend in South Florida. Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, provides engines, boats, services and parts for recreational, commercial and government marine applications. Walker’s Marine (WalkerMarine.com), of Marco Island, Fla., is a major dealer of Mercury products in the South Florida region.

“I have known Eddie for years and it’s a perfect fit as he’s a former powerboat racer, so it only made sense that we did something with ESR to promote Mercury power for the Florida market,” stated Jim Walker of Walker’s Marine.

The NCWTS will travel to Homestead-Miami Speedway to name a champion in the final race of the 2012 season on Friday, Nov. 16. The weekend will kick off with a broadcast of qualifying from the mile-and-a-half track on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. Live coverage of the 134-lap race will follow later that evening at 7:30 p.m. EST on SPEED, MRN Radio, and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
