SMITHLEY TESTS DOVER AGAIN

DOVER, Del. – Garrett Smithley returns to Dover International Speedway this weekend looking to improve on his performance at the track in May.

In the XFINITY season’s earlier visit to Dover, Smithley finished 24th. It was his first race at the tough one-mile track. He returns Saturday for the Drive Sober 200.

“Getting a handle on Dover takes a while,” Smithley said. “It’s really fast, and there’s no time to rest. You’re in the turns a long time. We’re looking to go back there with a good car and make some gains.”

Smithley, who will drive the Heroes Haven Chevrolet this weekend, sits 18th in XFINITY driver points entering the season’s 28th race.

The race is the second in the new XFINITY Chase playoffs.

Dover practice sessions are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (ET) Friday. Qualifying is set for 11:45 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3 p.m.
