Showdown Stats: Dating back to 2003, McMurray has made four appearances in the preliminary event to the All-Star Race. His best start came in 2004 when he rolled off third, while his best finish came in 2009 when he came to the checkered in second. He has led 20 laps in the Showdown and has an average start of 13.2 and an average finish of eighth.

NASCAR has fined Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 51 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, $50,000 and placed him on NASCAR probation until July 25 for his actions during the May 12 race at Darlington Raceway.

Carl Edwards on racing at the Sprint All Star Race: “We need the All-Star race right now. It’s a race where we can just go, let it all hang out, have some fun and not worry about any points. We’re just going for the win in each segment and hopefully get to victory lane like we did last year. Richard Childress Racing has won four NASCAR Sprint All-Star Races, most recently in 2007 with Kevin Harvick. Dale Earnhardt won the event in 1987, which included the legendary "Pass in the Grass." Earnhardt also went on to claim the checkered flag in 1990 and 1993.

Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Sprint Showdown this weekend. Looking for some important track time, TBR will utilize the weekend to continue to build the team’s 1.5-mile program.

Biffle on racing in the All-Star race: “I’m super excited for the All-Star race Saturday night. No points, I don’t have to worry about anything, it’s kind of like having a week off and getting to drive the car how I want to. The team is pumped up about the Pit Crew Challenge Thursday night and we are excited about trying to win the million dollars Saturday night.”

Entering its eighth year of competition, the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge will feature 24 of the top NASCAR Sprint Cup SeriesTM pit crews in a head-to-head competition at 7 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 17 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
