Trevor Bayne makes his 15th career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. In 14 previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne has recorded a best finish of 13th in the spring 2017 event.

Martinsville, where eight boys were trying to lock themselves into the final field of four contenders for the championship in Homestead. At the same time, 31 boys and a girl were doing their utmost to spoil the party for someone by winning the thing themselves.

1. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex finished second at Martinsville as Kyle Busch took the win. "We didn't win," Truex said, "but it was a good points day for us. And points get me very excited. You know what I get when I see my points pile up? A huge bonus."

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Despite a strong performance, Chase Elliott's day wound up in the wall after getting dumped by Denny Hamlin in the closing laps of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

BRAD KESELOWSKI – No. 2 Alliance Truck Parts Ford Fusion – “I haven’t seen the video. I just knew I got in the corner and he was inside me and we had contact. I haven’t seen anymore of that to really have any clarity to it. The track is just real slick on the restarts for everybody. You saw that. It takes about five laps for anyone to get going or more, especially the leader, but there was a lot of hard fighting here because it’s a short track. That’s what short tracks are kind of about is rooting and gauging. You try not to take anybody out, but you’ve got to sometimes rub a little bit. But we had a really great Alliance Truck Parts Ford. We were able to lead laps and win the two stages and bring home a solid finish and that’s something to be proud of.”

Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team finished an impressive eighth in overtime in the First Data 500 at chilly Martinsville Speedway and improved their position in the NASCAR Playoffs standings from seventh to sixth, six points behind the Round 3 cutoff.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Coming to the green to start overtime for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Denny Hamlin was the race leader. Coming to the white flag, he was still the race leader, but with Kyle Busch to his inside. Coming to the checkered flag, Busch took the checkered flag as the field wrecked behind him.

HOW DID YOU SEE THINGS? “Yeah, well, he came over and talked to me on the back straightaway and he said somebody was pushing him, but it wasn’t two car lengths between him and the next guy. So, my Momma always said if you don’t have anything nice not to say anything at all. So, it’s not even worth my time. We’ll just go on to Texas.”

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Joey Logano topped the chart in final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Martinsville Speedway.

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx / Walgreens Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Talk about your favorite memories here and how you’re going to approach this weekend. “You know it is a very important race track but it’s still only 33 percent of this round. Each track is equally important unless you win this race. I think we need to be successful here, we need to gain some points. This is obviously statistically our best shot even though I feel like we can win each and every week. I feel pretty good about it. A lot of good memories here. 2009 maybe when we came from ninth with three laps to go to win the race was probably my favorite memory at this race track, but it’s been a good one."
