Chase Elliott on the Texas repave: “It’s just a different racetrack. (Turns) 3 and 4 are obviously similar with the banking and everything, but 1 and 2 have been the struggle for everyone. Obviously for us, but I think everyone struggles on that end more than 3 and 4, so it's just a matter of minimizing our problems on the 1-2 side of the track relative to everybody else. I feel like that has been our weak point at the racetrack since they re-did it.”

Kevin Harvick hasn’t celebrated in Victory Lane since a dominating victory in the regular season finale at Indianapolis on Sept. 8, but he’s been close. And the driver of the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford heads into the final two races of this Playoff round a heavy favorite to hoist hardware at either this week’s AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway (3 p.m. ET on NBSCN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) or next week at Phoenix’s ISM Raceway.

Richard Childress Racing at Texas Motor Speedway ... In 109 starts at Texas Motor Speedway dating back to 1997, RCR has recorded one win (Jeff Burton, April 2007), eight top-five and 32 top-10 finishes. Prior to Texas Motor Speedway's inaugural season in 1997, Richard Childress, a former driver in NASCAR's top division, earned a pair of top-10 finishes at the now defunct Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas.

Everyone’s favorite name in racing, O-S-C-A-R, is extending its sponsorship of the No. 6 Oscar Mayer Ford Mustang with driver Ryan Newman and Roush Fenway Racing through the 2021 season.

Once again this season, David Ragan will pilot the No. 38 Mystik Lubricants Ford Mustang, this time for the Monster Energy NASCAR Series race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Newman will make his 33rd start at Texas on Sunday. In 31 prior events Newman has one win with three top-five and six top-10 finishes and an average finish of 18.7.

DIBENEDETTO BY THE NUMBERS: In eight Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career starts at Texas Motor Speedway, Matt DiBenedetto has an average start of 31.2 and an average finish of 29.9  He’s completed 2,604 of 2,675 (97.3 percent) career laps at the Fort Worth, Texas track.
