The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series had what some would call a home race this past weekend at Martinsville, where it's just a little over a two-hour drive for most of the teams.
Whether NASCAR fans like it or not, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch are now the cream of the crop when it comes to The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Kyle Busch continued his winning dominance by winning his third consecutive race in 2019 and is looking for four in a row this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
“The car was really good, this Ford Mustang.” Keselowski commented, “Just a great day for our team, awesome execution on pit road. Credit to Doug Yates and all the engine stuff, those guys worked really hard.” He added, “Just one of those days you dream of as a race car driver.”
Busch started on the outside pole in Saturday's 21st Annual TruNorth Global 250 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) race at Martinsville Speedway and dominated the race by winning Stage 1 and leading 174 of the 250 laps in route to his 38th win for Kyle Busch Motorsports and his 54th victory in 148 NGOTS races.
Ben Rhodes was looking to put that Martinsville finish from a year ago behind him when he won both stages only to finish 12th. One year later, he almost pulled it off but was one spot short, finishing second to race winner Kyle Busch.
Friesen led twice for 18 laps, however, it was a quiet day for the No. 52 Halmar Racing Team as they wound up fifth for Stewart's second top five of the season and the 13th of his career.
The 25-year-old Green from Concord, North Carolina, is set to become the 10th competitor to pilot Spire Motorsports' No. 77 Chevrolet entry throughout the 2026 Truck Series season and for his series' debut at Talladega Superspeedway on October 23.
The 36-year-old Ellis from Torrance, California, is Alpha Prime Racing's first full-time competitor signed for the 2027 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series season.
In 150 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Phoenix Raceway, Richard Childress Racing has scored six victories, led by Kevin Harvick with four wins (including a sweep of both races in 2006 plus fall races in 2012 and 2013).
