To say it was a hot day at Kentucky Speedway Friday night would be a huge understatement. Triple digit temperatures put the drivers and crews to the test for the Feed the Children 300, the 15th race on the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.

Amidst sweltering temperatures at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta on Friday, Kurt Busch notched another hole in his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) belt, achieving a second-place finish in his first series start on the 1.5-mile 'Bluegrass State' track.

Richard Childress Racing teammates finished first (Austin Dillon), third (Kevin Harvick) and ninth (Elliott Sadler). Dillon leads the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver championship point standings over Elliott Sadler by two points.

High hopes for a good run by both the No. 01 G&K Services and No. 4 Tradebank Chevrolet teams of JD Motorsports with Gary Keller didn’t pan out the way they hoped in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway.

Michael Annett started the 200-lap NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Kentucky Speedway from the ninth position, his best qualifying effort this season. Annett finished the Feed The Children 300 fourth.

“This just started off perfect last night at practice when we unloaded and were really happy with it. We tried something new on this Mustang and it was even better. We had a car that could run the bottom, run on the line and move up three grooves and we knew that is what we were going to need tonight after watching the truck race and seeing how hard it was to pass."

Camry driver Kurt Busch (second) was the highest-finishing Toyota driver in Friday evening's NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Kentucky Speedway. Kurt Busch's top-10 performance on the 1.5-mile track was his ninth top-10 result of the season in just 10 NNS starts, including seven consecutive top-10 finishes.

Dillon would go on to dominate and bring the famous black No. 3, owned by Dillon's grandfather Richard Childress, back to victory lane, scoring his first win in 26 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
