NASCAR Truck Series

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads north of Daytona this weekend for the 1.5-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be the second race of the 2018 season for what has already been an exciting start for the Truck Series.

NASCAR announced today that the No. 41 of Ben Rhodes failed post-race tech inspection after the eighth annual NextEra Energy Resources 250.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series started the 2018 season last Friday night at Daytona International Speedway. Here are four takeaways from the event itself.

Austin Dillon passed Aric Almirola on the backstretch of the final lap in NASCAR overtime to win the 60th running of the Daytona 500. Dillon returned the No. 3 Chevrolet to Victory Lane in The Great American Race 20 years to the weekend the man who made the No. 3 car famous – Dale Earnhardt – won his lone Daytona 500.

Driver Quote: “I’ve never been to Atlanta, but we’re optimistic.  My crew chief Darrell (Morrow) and the guys on the Niece Motorsports team have been working hard on preparing our No. 45 Superior Essex Chevrolet, and I think start to finish from practice to qualifying and to the race, we’ll make significant gains so that we can contend for another strong finish.”

Bo LeMastus on Atlanta... "I'm ready to get to Atlanta and see what we can do with this Tundra. I hate that we got caught up in an incident last weekend, but that's superspeedway racing. This weekend will be our first chance to work together as a team on a 1.5-mile track. We are ready to get down there and get to work."

Self on Racing at Atlanta:  “I’m looking forward to going back to Atlanta. It’s one of the most unique race tracks on the circuit, especially with its aging surface. We made great strides during the race a couple years ago and I think after a few laps on Friday, we can get our Niece Motorsports team in that same position.”

Veteran racer Akinori Ogata (@AkinoriOgata) returns to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) trail this weekend at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway driving the No. 63 MB Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado for Saturday afternoon’s Active Pest Control 200 benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Coughlin will pilot chassis no. 118, which he used this year at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Open Test. This chassis was also utilized by Johnny Sauter five times throughout the 2017 season, earning four top-five and five top-10 finishes, including his win at Dover International Speedway.

Quote "I am really excited about going back to Atlanta. Coming off a strong finish from Daytona last weekend really got our confidence up. Atlanta is a whole different ball game though. It takes a lot of discipline and the old surface eats the tires. My crew chief Chad Norris and the GMS Racing guys have put together a nice piece for this weekend so I am really anxious to get on track."
