Knoxville Raceway Debut … Nicknamed the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World,’ Knoxville Raceway, located in Iowa, will host the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the second consecutive year. Best known for hosting one of the most prestigious events in sprint car racing, the Knoxville Nationals, ‘The Granddaddy of Them All,’ Knoxville Raceway is perhaps one of the most famous dirt ovals in the world.

This weekend marks Kris Wright’s debut at the Knoxville Raceway with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Dirt Track Stats: This weekend marks Kris Wright’s second dirt track appearance with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Earlier this season at the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway DIRT, he finished in the 33rd-place with a 30th-place qualifying effort.

The Wexford, Pa., -native has limited experience on dirt. Wright has three INEX U.S. Legend Cars International starts on the dirt tracks of Moler Raceway Park, located in Williamsburg, Ohio, as well as at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio. Of those INEX U.S. Legend Cars International events, he captured two heat race victories as well as a second-place finish and a fourth-place finish.

Erica Enders in Pro Stock, Brittany Force in Top Fuel top their respective standings

DETROIT (June 16, 2022) – Erica Enders’ Drive for 5 is in full swing.

The four-time National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Pro Stock world champion has accumulated four victories in six races in the Melling Performance/Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro SS, including the past three outings, for an unprecedented start to her 18th season.

“In 2015, we had a tremendous year, a season winning nine of 11 finals and just claiming the championship in Vegas before the year was even over. And then this year we’re off to an even better start than we were in 2015,” said Enders, who hasn’t qualified lower than fourth this season.

That 2015 championship season – the second of her four with Chevrolet – included a victory at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee, where the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series visits this weekend.

The NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will mark the first appearance of the Pro Stock class at the track since 2018, when No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson was runner-up to Jeg Coughlin. Enders lost to Drew Skillman’s Camaro SS in the quarterfinals.

Enders claimed her 400th career elimination round win and her 37th victory in the final at Epping, New Hampshire. Add 28 runner-up finishes and Enders has advanced to the finals in 25% of her 270 career race day appearances. Since returning to the Chevrolet fold for the 2017 season after a one-year absence, Enders has registered 18 wins and 14 runner-up finishes in 99 races. Plus, championships in 2019 and ’20.

She has a sizable points lead in the Pro Stock standings over Elite Motorsports teammate Aaron Stanfield, who won the season opener at Pomona, California, in the Janac Brothers Camaro SS and most recently was runner-up to Enders at Epping.

“We’re ready to get on a roll, carry the momentum. It’s just important that we keep going rounds, keep parking these Elite Motorsports cars in the winner’s circle,” Enders said. “I know as well as anybody that there are way more valleys than there are peaks, but we’re going to enjoy the ride while it lasts and just try to capitalize on every single moment.”

Anderson, driver of the HendrickCars.com Camaro SS and the reigning Pro Stock champion, continues his quest for victory No. 100 to join John Force (155) as the only professional drivers with triple digit wins.

Brittany Force is also off to the best start of her Top Fuel career, owning three wins, a 16-5 elimination round record and two No. 1 qualifiers. The driver of the Flav-R-Pac/Monster Energy Chevrolet dragster has held the top spot in the standings for a career-best four races.

John Force Racing teammates Robert Hight (three wins) and John Force (one win) are also off to strong starts. Hight, who is second in Funny Car points, has been to the final round in each of the past three races in the Automobile Club of Southern California Camaro SS. John Force, who turned the top qualifier honor in the four-wide event at Charlotte into victory in the PEAK/BlueDEF Platinum Camaro SS, is fourth in the standings.

Austin Prock, a semifinalist the past two races in the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet dragster, is fifth in the Top Fuel standings.

The competition this weekend will also include the fourth round of the Constant Aviation NHRA Factory Stock Showdown featuring the Chevrolet COPO Camaros.

We’re OK, we’re in it and we’ve been fast. I just need to do my job out there on track and I know my son-in-law Danny Hood and Tim Fabrisi, they’ll have this Chevy running right.”

ROBERT HIGHT, JOHN FORCE RACING, AUTO CLUB OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (three-time winner this season; second in points): “Not a bad start to the season, eight races in with three wins and second in points. This Auto Club team is definitely looking for more though. We need to stay consistent, keep working hard and take it one run at a time. The class is really competitive, we were the first to three wins but we aren’t the only ones now and we need to keep it going. That’s the goal heading to Bristol. I haven’t won there in a while (2011) and it would be great to get it done on Father’s Day with my daughter, Autumn, there with me.”

I think Q1 will be a learning curve and after that I’ll adapt pretty quickly. I have all the confidence that we’ll be just fine, and we get that yellow hat and a blue hat at the end of the weekend. Every little thing counts to be able to win in this class. I recently watched ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and in one scene he said, ‘It’s a dogfight,’ and that’s what it is (among Pro Stock competitors). It’s just good racing.”

DALLAS GLENN, KB RACING, RAD TORQUE SYSTEMS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (winner at Gainesville; No. 1 qualifier at Epping; fourth in points): “Coming back from that six-week hiatus to a No. 1 qualifier in the RAD Torque Systems / KB Racing Chevrolet Camaro was a definite morale booster for me as a driver and our team. We worked hard in that time off and to put it down on the track faster than anyone else in qualifying was cool to see. I’m glad we’re going to the majority of the races left this season so we can start rolling with the momentum.”

I’ve won a lot of races on Father’s Day. I can remember those special days with my father in the house and give him a trophy. Bristol is a cool racetrack. I understand they grinded (the racing surface to eliminate bumps) and they got it a lot better. We can out this year and the other group (Elite Motorsports) made a big gain, and we got a little behind the eight ball. We’ve had a month to work on stuff and have gotten a lot better. I wouldn’t say we’re ahead of them yet, but I would say we’re back even with them and the next step forward is to get ahead of them like we were last year. That’s the goal over the next couple of months. Being able to run the same is certainly better than where we were at the start of the year. But we’re not satisfied until we’re ahead of everybody.”

CAMRIE CARUSO, CARUSO FAMILY RACING, SAND HAULERS OF AMERICA CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (first season in Pro Stock; No. 1 qualifier and runner-up at Houston): “I have a lot of support from my family especially, my dad and Papa Joe (grandfather) so racing on Father’s Day weekend will be really cool. This whole season has been a whirlwind, but Houston was a totally different level. We were No. 1 all weekend and then we had a tough ladder to get to the final round. Racing Erica was great, but I don’t really care who is in the other lane on Sunday. I know I have to do my routine and hit the tree as hard as I can.”

TROY COUGHLIN JR., ELITE MOTORSPORTS, JEGS.COM CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (runner-up at Phoenix): “The goal now is to win my first Pro Stock race at the same track where Dad got his. How cool would that be? We have a new car this year and we’re still learning what it wants. It’s taking some time but once it all falls into place, look out. There has been so much work, so many hours, so much sweat put into figuring this car out. I know we’re really close. Hopefully, this is the weekend when it all comes together.”

Weekend schedule for Knoxville Raceway

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series travels to Knoxville Raceway this weekend while the Cup Series and Xfinity Series enjoy some time off from competition.

Up next for the Cup Series (June 26) and the Xfinity Series (June 25) is Nashville Superspeedway.

This will be the second time that the Truck Series has competed on the half-mile dirt track at Knoxville Raceway. Last year’s winner, Austin Hill, is not on the entry list for this weekend so we will see a new winner in victory lane.

There will be special rules in effect for this race. The running order of the race will be frozen after each stage. During the stage break, teams will pit for timed non-competitive pit stops. They can add fuel, change tires and make adjustments to their trucks in the allotted time designated by NASCAR.

Teams will not be required to pit during the stage breaks. If they choose to stay on the track, they will begin the next stage ahead of the teams that pitted.

Tires and fuel can only be added during the stage breaks. If a vehicle has a flat or damaged tire, the team must get approval from NASCAR to change the tire.

  1. Prime And Paint The Surface 

Your car should now be ready for repainting. But before that, you must prime the surface. Once everything’s been done and dried, you can spray several layers of clear coat on the area. Let each layer dry before you spray another. After that, hand-buff the spot with a microfiber cloth with a polishing compound.

Toyota Racing Development dirt standout Buddy Kofoid returns to KBM to make a second start behind the wheel of the No. 51 Mobil 1 Tundra TRD Pro Saturday at Knoxville Raceway. Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil, a long-time partner at KBM who also sponsors Kofoid’s Keith Kunz Motorsports midget entry, will serve as the primary sponsor on his Toyota as the Truck Series visits the prestigious half-mile dirt oval for the second time.

The California native made his Truck Series debut for KBM earlier this year at the Bristol Dirt Race. Kofoid was forced to start 32nd in the main event after an overheating issue relegated him to a ninth-place finish in Qualifying Race One. The talented wheelman quickly proved why he is one of the best on dirt as he made his way into the top 10 by the end of stage two. Kofoid was competing in the top five before he got caught up in a late-race incident with just 10 laps remaining. The damage from the incident would relegate Kofoid to a 27th-place finish.

The 20-year-old driver is off to a strong start to the 2022 dirt season. His most recent accolade was bringing home the USAC Indiana Midget Week title for the second consecutive year. Kofoid opened the week with victories at Bloomington Speedway and Lawrenceburg Speedway, which combined with victories earlier in the season at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., and Tri-City Speedway in Granite, Ill. gave the young driver a four-race winning streak on the USAC Midget National championship season. The reigning USAC Midget National champion once again sits atop the point standings, with a 46-point cushion on Justin Grant.

In addition to his USAC Midget accolades this year, Kofoid has turned heads racing across several dirt platforms. He outdueled Kyle Larson to win his qualifying night feature and went on to finish fourth in Saturday night’s A Feature in the Chili Bowl Nationals at the Tulsa (Okla.) Expo Center. He scored two victories across the first three events of the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget schedule, including Toyota’s 400th national dirt midget victory March 25 at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In Sprint Cars, he won the Weldon Sterner Memorial 410 Sprint Car feature at Lincoln (Pa.) Speedway.

Kofoid claimed the 2021 USAC Midget National championship on the strength of six victories in that series, which included two triumphs on his way to earning the USAC Indiana Midget Week title. The budding star also scored nine feature victories in the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series, won the Trophy Cup Sprint Car Race at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif. and won the first two nights of the Wild Wing Shootout at Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley.

In addition to his time on dirt, Kofoid has been gaining experience on pavement running over 10 late model events in the last year highlighted by a third-place finish in the Pro Late Model division at the All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn. last October

Mardy Lindley returned to KBM for his second season atop the pit box of the No. 51 team. Lindley has led his team to six wins since coming to KBM at the start of the 2021 season, including two with Corey Heim and one with Kyle Busch this year. In 2021, his drivers produced three victories, two with Busch and one with Martin Truex Jr. Before arriving at KBM, Lindley guided his drivers to 32 wins and four ARCA Menards Series East championships since 2013, including back-to-back titles with Sam Mayer the last two seasons. Additionally, he earned the ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief Showdown championship with Mayer in 2020. Behind the wheel, the second-generation driver won 11 races on the Pro Cup Series from 2000 to 2006 and was crowned the series champion in 2001. Lindley has crew chiefed three races on dirt, producing one win, and two top-10 finishes. The win came in the inaugural Bristol dirt race last year with Truex Jr. In last year’s race at Knoxville, he produced an eight-place result with dirt driver Brian Brown in his Truck Series debut.

With one Truck Series race already under your belt are you able to be better prepared for this week’s race?
“I feel like I will be even more prepared now going into Knoxville because I think I have a good sense of the weight and power of the truck. Now that I have one race under my belt, I think I have a good sense of what to expect and am looking forward to getting back to it with Mardy (Lindley, crew chief) and all the guys on my Mobil 1 team.”

How do you think the racing at Knoxville will be compared to what you experience at Bristol?
“I think the biggest difference will be the lack of banking that Knoxville has compared to Bristol. In turn, I think that will make the grip level and speeds a lot less.”

You had a strong run at Bristol in your Truck Series debut. Does that raise your expectation level for this weekend?
“I feel like my expectations are always high because I put that on myself no matter what. But I think with the speed I had at Bristol I’m looking forward to capitalizing on that and am hungry to finish on a high note.”

Weir and Kohlbecker Show Strong Race Runs at Road America

USF2000 pair passes a total of 29 cars in two races, earning top ten finishes

Elkhart Lake, Wis. (June 15, 2022) – Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship drivers Christian Weir and Spike Kohlbecker showed strong race runs at this weekend’s Road America race event with both drivers racing their way into the top 10 and passing a combined 29 cars over the double-header event.

Rookie Christian Weir qualified 15th and 18th for Race 1 and Race 2 following a disappointing qualifying session that didn’t reflect the capability of the #32 car program. With the work cut out for him, Weir climbed his way up to a seventh place finish in Race 1 and an 11th place finish in Race 2, showing his racing capability and improving a total of 15 positions.

“This was a rough weekend but we still came out unscathed,” said Weir. “We were struggling on pace all weekend and didn’t know where to find it. Through our frustrations, we still ended up being competitive during the races. With not very many opportunities, we ended up lower than where we wanted, but there is always another time where we can show our true potential. I just want to thank the whole team for helping persevere through these hard times. These are the weekends that we can learn a lot from.”

Teammate Spike Kohlbecker also started deeper in the field for both races, but like Weir, knew he had the package to be racing at the front. Kohlbecker rose to the challenge, passing a total of seven cars in Race 1, finishing P9, and setting himself up for another solid run in the #33 car in Race 2. In Race 2, Kohlbecker had a great start and gained five positions up from P17 on the opening lap alone. Following an impressive drive in the 12-lap contest, Kohlbecker crossed the start/finish line in P10 to round out the weekend.

“Road America was definitely a learning weekend for me,” said Kohlbecker. “As a team, we struggled, but we all kept our heads up and tried to learn as much as we could through the weekend. I’m looking forward to the next event at Mid-Ohio in a couple of weeks!”

“We headed in the weekend with high expectations after a very good test here last year, but unfortunately the weekend proved quite challenging to give the drivers the balance they needed,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “They both struggled in each qualifying session which left them on the back foot for the races, but I’m proud of the efforts they put in to drive the cars forward, and we gained a lot of positions in both races. We will regroup as a team and make sure we go to Mid-Ohio with a stronger program to allow the drivers to show their true potential.”
