A significant milestone start is in the making for Brandon Brown, driver of the No. 68 Brandonbilt Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. By competing in this weekend’s event at Texas Motor Speedway, Brown will reach 100 career starts in the Xfinity circuit.

A native of Woodbridge, Virginia, Brown made his Xfinity Series debut at Richmond Raceway in September 2016. By then, he had made select NASCAR Truck Series races in the previous two seasons and he was a student at Coastal Carolina University. Driving the No. 86 Chevrolet for Brandonbilt Motorsports, his family-owned team, Brown started 26th and finished 29th in his series debut. He went on to compete at Kansas Speedway in October, where he finished 25th, and the season-finale Homestead-Miami Speedway in November, where he finished 23rd.

Brown returned for 10 Xfinity races in 2017, with his first event occurring at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March and his last occurring at Dover International Speedway in September. His best results were 17th at Dover in June and 20th at Darlington Raceway in September.

In 2018, Brown competed in seven of the 33-race schedule, where he earned two 18th-place results (Darlington in September and Texas in November) and a 19th-place result (Richmond Raceway in April).

The following season, Brown competed in all 33 Xfinity scheduled races between Brandonbilt Motorsports and RSS Racing. His best result was sixth at Daytona International Speedway in July. He also went on to earn a total of 10 top-15 results before settling in 15th place in the final standings.

Brown returned as a full-time Xfinity competitor for Brandonbilt Motorsports in 2020, where he kicked off the season with a seventh-place result at Daytona in February. He earned four top-10 results and 17 top-15 results throughout the 26-race regular-season stretch, which were enough for him to make the Xfinity Playoffs for the first time in his career.

During the Round of 12 in the Xfinity Playoffs, Brown earned results of 15th, ninth and 26th, but his title hopes came to an early end after he was eliminated from the Playoffs. Two races later, Brown rebounded by earning his first top-five career result in the series after finishing fifth at Texas in October. He went on to conclude the season in 11th place in the final standings and with a career-high six top-10 results along with a career-best average result of 16.0.

Through the first 13 races of this season, Brown has finished in the top five twice and in the top 10 seven times. During this span, he earned a career-best third-place result at Phoenix Raceway in March following a late restart and dash to the finish. He is currently ranked in 13th place in the Xfinity Series regular-season standings.

Through 99 previous Xfinity Series starts, Brown has claimed three top-five results, 14 top-10 results and an average result of 19.0.

Brown is primed to make his 100th Xfinity Series career start at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 12, which will occur at 4 p.m. ET on FS1.

  • Tickets Start at $99 For 64th running of The Great American Race
  • Fully Open Frontstretch Seating, Camping, Hospitality and Beloved Pre-Race Experiences
  • Debut of Much Anticipated NASCAR Next Gen Car

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 9, 2020) – Tickets for the 64th Annual DAYTONA 500, NASCAR’s most prestigious event that will debut the Cup Series anticipated ‘Next Gen’ car, are on sale now. The 2022 edition of The Great American Race, which will be held on its traditional Presidents Day Weekend – Sunday, Feb. 20 – will have fully open frontstretch seating, expanded camping, hospitality and pre-race experiences. Tickets start at $99.

Race fans travel from all over the world to attend the storied DAYTONA 500 at the iconic Daytona International Speedway. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited fan attendance in 2021 at the 2.5-mile venue, NASCAR’s season-opener experienced five consecutive sellouts dating back to 2016 and the completion of the Daytona Rising $400 million renovation project. The 2020 DAYTONA 500 had guests representing all 50 states and 45 countries. Daytona International Speedway recently announced that spectator restrictions have been lifted so anticipation for the 2022 DAYTONA 500 is at an all-time high.

Those wishing to attend The Great American Race in person should make their plans early to secure the best seats and pricing. For ticket information on the 2022 DAYTONA 500, as well as Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth events, log onto www.DAYTONA500.com or call 1-800-PITSHOP.

“The energy, excitement and sheer anticipation for the 2022 DAYTONA 500 is on a level that we haven’t seen in a long time,” said Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher. “Our fans are ready to get back to the race track for The Great American Race, as well as Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth. Our team at the World Center of Racing is ready for their return, as well as new fans to visit and experience the pageantry of the DAYTONA 500. They will be able to do just that, with fully open seating, camping and hospitality, along with the tradition of pre-race festivities, sprawling Midway displays and our infield UNOH Fanzone. On the track, fans will get to witness, for the first time, NASCAR’s Next Gen cars battling two-and three-wide at 200 mph. We can’t wait.”

The Next Gen car, a collaboration of the brightest engineering minds in racing and the automotive industry, is designed to give the drivers greater control. It will put an emphasis back on race strategies, team personnel and vehicle setups while returning the ‘stock car’ look to NASCAR. The cars are set to put on great racing for fans, incorporate relevant technology and look more like street version vehicles. Could we see a new winner in 2022? Earlier this year, Michael McDowell stunned the racing world by claiming his first career triumph in the DAYTONA 500.

Guests for the DAYTONA 500 will have the opportunity to experience the edge-of-your-seat excitement in a state-of-the-art motorsports facility with amenities that include more than 101,500 seats, thousands of premium club seats, 40 escalators and 17 elevators, 60 luxury suites, social “neighborhoods” and three concourse levels that span the nearly mile-long frontstretch.

Extended-stay camping packages include access to general admission seating and the UNOH Fanzone/Pre-Race for each event during DAYTONA Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth, excluding the DAYTONA 500. Some other notable options include:

Hospitality and premium seat packages, including the Rolex 24 Lounge, Harley J’s, Trioval Club, DAYTONA 500 Club and President’s Row are available, as well as UNOH Fanzone/Pre-Race access.

• In seven previous starts at tracks that are 1.5 miles in length, Berry has recorded two top-10 finishes with both coming during the 2021 season.
• Berry has two runner-up finishes (Darlington Raceway and Dover International Speedway) in his last three starts for JRM in the NXS.
• Throughout the 2021 season, Berry has accumulated one win, three top fives and six top 10s, all while pacing the field for 151 laps.

• It’s a new look for Allgaier this weekend as Dollar Shave Club comes aboard the No. 7 for the first time this season.

Driver Quotes

“We had a solid run at Mid-Ohio and moved up in the points entering the summer stretch. The last two races at Texas, we’ve been in contention. Our Pilot Flying J Chevrolet has been good at Texas, and Bummy (crew chief Mike Bumgarner) and the No. 1 team continue to put good solid cars under me every week. We have some momentum, and now is the time to carry it forward.” – Michael Annett

“Everyone on this No. 7 team is ready to get to Texas this weekend. We had really good speed there last year and I feel really confident that we will unload just as strong again on Saturday. Hopefully we can get that positive momentum back on our side and be right where we want to be at the end of the day on Saturday and contending for the win with our Dollar Shave Club Chevrolet.” – Justin Allgaier

“I’m looking forward to getting to Texas in our Tire Pros Chevrolet this weekend. We were fast at Charlotte and got caught up in someone else’s mess which ended our day early. With the two tracks being somewhat similar, I know Taylor (Moyer, crew chief) and the entire No. 8 team will bring a fast Camaro and hopefully we can get Tire Pros into Victory Lane this weekend.” – Josh Berry

“Last time we were at Texas we almost put our Bass Pro Shops/TrueTimber/Black Rifle Coffee Camaro in Victory Lane, so I know Dave (Elenz, crew chief) and this entire No. 9 team will unload a fast Chevrolet. We will hopefully be one spot better than the last time here and have our entire team celebrating in Victory Lane.” – Noah Gragson

Chandler Smith – No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass Tundra Camping World Trucks Texas Preview

Chandler Smith Camping World Trucks Texas Preview (printable)
Chandler Smith: Driver, No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass® Toyota

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Overview:
Event: SpeedyCash.com 220, Race 11 of 22, 147 Laps – 35/35/77; 220.5 Miles
Location: Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (1.5-mile quad-oval)
Date/Broadcast: June 12, 2021 at 1 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

Mr. Smith Goes to The Lone Star State:

  • Chandler Smith and the No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass team head to Texas Motor Speedway this week for the SpeedyCash.com 220. Smith was relegated to a 21st-place finish in his lone start at Texas last October. Smith had a fast Tundra, finishing third in the opening stage and sixth in Stage Two, before an unfortunate series of events occurred. He was running fifth when he made his final scheduled pit stop of the event but lost several positions when he was unable to exit his pit stall cleanly due to a competitor in front of him being at the back of his pit stall. After starting at the rear of the field on the ensuing restart, he made his way just outside the top 10 before contact from another competitor sent him into the wall and caused significant damage.
  • Smith has posted two top-five finishes on mile-and-a-half tracks in his young career, finishing fifth at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway in 2020. His best result this year in four starts on 1.5-mile tracks was a sixth-place finish at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the Camping World Truck series most recent event.
  • Smith’s sixth-place finish at Charlotte allowed him to close the gap on the 10th and final spot in the Camping World Truck Series playoffs. He currently sits 10 points behind Johnny Sauter for that coveted spot with five races remaining in the regular season. Across 10 starts this season, Smith has one top-five and three top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 19.0. He produced a season-best result of fourth at Richmond (Va.) Raceway in April. He sits second in Rookie of the Year standings, 53 points behind Carson Hocevar. Smith has earned the rookie of the race award four times this season. The Toyota Racing Development driver has nine top-five, and 12 top-10 finishes across 26 career Camping World Truck Series starts, including a career-best runner-up finish at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in 2019.
  • Smith spent his off weekend from Truck Series racing competing in a Super Late Model race Friday, June 4 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. He set the fast time in qualifying, started fourth after the invert and led from lap 15 to 68 of the 100-lap event before engine issues ended his night.
  • Veteran crew chief Danny Stockman will call the shots for Smith and the No. 18 team this season. Stockman led the No. 51 team to four wins in his first season atop the pit box at KBM in 2020. He came to the organization with experience as a crew chief in all three national series, including a Truck Series championship with Austin Dillon in 2011 and an Xfinity Series championship with Dillon in 2013. Stockman’s Camping World Truck Series drivers have one win, three top-five and three top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 13.0 across six starts at Texas. Stockman called the shots for Kyle Busch’s victory in The Lone Star State last July.
  • Kyle Busch Motorsports’ (KBM) eight wins at Texas are equal to the organization-best eight they have recorded at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Owner-driver Kyle Busch’s victory at Texas last July was his fourth for his organization (2010, 2014, 2019 & 2020). Greg Biffle (2020), Christopher Bell (2017), William Byron (2016) and Erik Jones (2015) all have one victory for KBM at Texas.
  • KBM has collected the trophy at all four mile-and-a-half races in 2021, with John Hunter Nemechek winning at Charlotte and Las Vegas while Kyle Busch brought home the trophy at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway in Kansas City. KBM drivers have combined to lead 70.1% (379/538) of the total laps in the four races on 1.5-mile tracks this season.
  • Safelite AutoGlass – the nation’s largest provider of vehicle glass repair, replacement, and recalibration services – will be the primary sponsor of Smith’s Tundra this weekend at Charlotte and for 15 races total this season. Smith General Contracting and Fairfield Residential will be associate partners on the bedtop of the No. 18 Toyota for Friday’s 147-lap event.

Chandler Smith, Driver Q&A:

Do you have confidence heading into Texas, which is similar to Charlotte where you just finished sixth?
“I definitely have confidence building up heading to Texas after the strong run at Charlotte. They are similar tracks with their own characteristics, but at the end of the day, they are still mile-and-a-halves. Our 1.5-mile program is getting stronger, so I’m looking forward to Texas and having a good starting position with our Safelite AutoGlass Toyota Tundra to get on out there and let it rip.”

With racing at Texas last year, are you able to prepare better for a track that you’ve already raced at?
“Racing at Texas last year is going to be a big help going back this weekend. Texas 1 and 2 is kind of a difficult corner to an extent with all the air and stuff, being in dirty air, and how to make lap time in dirty air. Having some experience behind me going back there is going to help. I’m looking forward to it.”

You ran a Super Late Model over the off weekend. Although it’s not the same as a truck, how beneficial is getting extra seat time with not having a lot of practice this year?
“It’s huge. It’s always keeping my feet wet in racing something even on the off weekend is big. Anything I can get my hands on for some seat time. Super Late Models are always preferred. I love racing those things. Every time I get in one, I learn something new every single time. It’s really beneficial. The car control and handling you have to have to be good in those things is insane, but I love racing them. It’s always fun to race them on an off weekend.”

Chandler Smith Career Highlights:

  • Across 26 career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts has recorded 139 laps led, nine top-five and 12 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 14.9.
  • Posted an average finish of 7.7 across his final seven of 12 total Truck Series starts in 2020, including third-place finishes in the series finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway and his first career superspeedway start at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in October.
  • Produced three top-five and four top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 4.2 across his first four career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts in 2019. He led 55 laps and finished eighth in his Gander Trucks debut at Iowa Speedway last July and then posted top-five finishes in his final three starts, including a runner-up finish at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
  • Has collected nine wins, 10 poles, 1761 laps led, 22 top-five and 29 top-10 finishes en route to an average finish of 5.2 across 33 career ARCA Menards Series starts. Set an ARCA Racing Series record by winning four consecutive poles to start his career and earned his first victory after leading a race-high 102 laps at Madison (Wis.) International Speedway in his fourth series start.

Chandler Smith’s No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass Tundra:
KBM-070: The No. 18 Safelite AutoGlass team will unload chassis number KBM-070 for Saturday’s 147-lap event at Texas. It’s the same Tundra that Smith drove to a sixth-place finish at Charlotte in the series most recent event. The Toyota also had a 19th-place finish with Smith earlier this year at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway in its debut race.
Click Here for KBM-070 Performance Profile:

KBM Notes of Interest:

  • KBM drivers have collected eight wins, three poles, 986 laps led, 18 top-five and 33 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 10.9 across 53 starts in the Lone Star State.
  • Owner-driver Kyle Busch’s victory in July of 2020 was his fourth for his organization (2010, 2014, 2019 & 2020). Greg Biffle (2020), Christopher Bell (2017), William Byron (2016) and Erik Jones (2015) all have one victory for KBM at Texas.
  • KBM holds the Camping World Truck Series records for most career wins (86) and most wins in a single season (14 in 2014). With his victory at the Bristol Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Martin Truex Jr. became the 16th different driver to win a Truck Series event for KBM. In addition to collecting a series-record seven Owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).
  • The No. 18, the number which was on the first Tundra that went to victory lane for KBM in 2010, has 21 career victories.

Burton plans to add another cowboy hat to collection… Last season’s Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year Harrison Burton drove to an impressive win at Texas Motor Speedway last fall – his third career victory. Burton charged past then leader Noah Gragson on the final corner to score the win. The 20-year-old driver is still looking for his first victory of the season, but sits inside the top-five in the overall NXS point standings on the strength of nine top-10 finishes.

Five regular season races to go… With five regular season races to go in the NASCAR Truck Series, Toyota drivers hold six of 10 spots in the provisional field. John Hunter Nemechek and Ben Rhodes have clinched their spots on the strength of their race wins. Austin Hill, Matt Crafton, Stewart Friesen and Johnny Sauter are currently in position to earn Playoff positions based on their point standings.

Kyle Busch Motorsports strong at Texas… Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) has had an incredible run of success at Texas Motor Speedway. The team has won eight times at the track – including three of the last four events. This weekend the KBM Tundras will have Nemechek, Rookie of the Year contender Chandler Smith and Drew Dollar behind the wheel. Dollar is making his third career Truck Series start.

NASCAR Regional Series – ARCA EAST

Smith plans to continue winning ways… The ARCA Menards Series East returns on track this weekend and Sammy Smith looks to continue his successful start to the season. After four races, the 16-year-old driver has two victories and four top-five finishes. He holds a 22-point advantage in the series standings heading into this weekend.

Sonoma Recap: The 12-turn, 2.52-mile, California road course offers plenty of opportunity for cars to make contact, and it happened early for the #11 team. After lining up fourth for the start, the FedEx Camry took on front-end damage during Stage 1 of the 232-mile event, as contact punched in the car’s nose. By the later stages, the left front fender was heavily damaged as well, affecting the car’s speed. Between the torn-up front end and an off-sequence pit strategy, Hamlin didn’t have much of a chance to compete with the dominant car of Kyle Larson, who went on to win his second consecutive race in a two-lap overtime finish. But the FedEx Racing driver did battle back from outside the top 20 to grab a top-10 result, crossing the line eighth.

All-Star Preview: The NASCAR Cup Series makes its way to the Lone Star State for the annual running of the NASCAR All-Star Race. Hamlin and the #FedEx11 team will be ready to show why they’re still at the top of the point standings when they hit the track at Texas Motor Speedway for the 1.5-mile oval’s first hosting of the exhibition event. Hamlin will go for his second career All-Star victory.

Hamlin Conversation – Texas (All-Star):

Are you ready for the wild format of the All-Star Race?

“We’re ready for anything. NASCAR sets the format to be entertaining for the fans, and it’s certainly set up to do that. Random draws, inverts, pit stops – it should put on quite a show. It definitely won’t be boring.”

What adjustments will your team need to make to be ready for the All-Star Race in Texas?

“We’ve had strong performances at Texas in the past, but we need to up our game a bit on mile-and-a-halfs. With the wild rules, we might need luck to fall in our favor, too. However, I believe in our FedEx team and know we are always capable of getting the job done.”

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 9, 2021 (Newswire.com) – After two straight weeks of solid finishes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Charlotte (16th) and Mid-Ohio (18th), Ryan Vargas has secured additional support from loyal partners Swann Security and Best Buy at Texas Motor Speedway.

The newly added race for Swann Security means that their lineup of products will be promoted in at least five races this season, further underlining an impressive jump into the world of NASCAR racing. This weekend in Texas, the No. 4 Chevrolet will highlight Swann’s latest 4-Camera, 1080p Enforcer™ DVR Security System, available exclusively at Best Buy.

Vargas is no stranger to the 1.5-mile track in Fort Worth, as it was the site of his best career finish of eighth place last fall. Despite only having made one previous start in the Lone Star state, the twenty-year-old looks to build upon his recently found momentum.

The NASCAR Foundation Aims to Rev Up Specialty License Plate Sales with New NASCAR Design

Partners with Florida Sports Foundation, Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 9, 2021) – The NASCAR Foundation has again partnered with the Florida Sports Foundation and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) on a newly redesigned NASCAR specialty license plate. The new plate, mirrored after NASCAR’s latest brand mark, is now available at all tax collector offices and license plate agencies across the state. This is the second plate redesign since it was first enacted by the Florida Legislature in 2007.

Florida, the “Birthplace of NASCAR,” is home to NASCAR’s headquarters, along with three NASCAR Cup Series races annually including the DAYTONA 500 and Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway and the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“We know how much our NASCAR fans love to show their passion for our sport – and we hope they will love this new NASCAR specialty plate,” stated Nichole Krieger, executive director of The NASCAR Foundation. “Even better – by getting this plate, our fans can know their support impacts the lives of children through our programs.”

The NASCAR Foundation applies the proceeds generated from the Florida plate sales to support its health and wellness initiatives for children across the state of Florida through the Speediatrics Children’s Fund. Through this fund, the Foundation supports two NASCAR-themed Speediatrics pediatric care units in Daytona Beach and Homestead, Fla., that serve approximately 50,000 patients each year and has also provided healthy living programming through its Speediatrics Fun Day Festival, highlighted by the distribution of more than 500 brand new athletic shoes and more than 400 new bicycles and helmets to underserved children in the local community.

Florida Sports Foundation distributes 50 percent of the annual $25 fee from the NASCAR specialty plate to support The NASCAR Foundation, with remaining funds allocated towards its major and regional grant program, NASCAR, through marketing motorsports-related tourism and Enterprise Florida to attract sporting events that generate out-of-state economic impact for the state of Florida.

“For nearly 30 years, the Florida Sports Foundation has worked with private corporate partners to elevate the sports tourism opportunities in our state by raising funds through the sale of specialty license plates.

We are proud to lead this model public-private partnership and work with the NASCAR team and twelve other professional sports companies in this endeavor,” states Angela Suggs, CEO and President of the Florida Sports Foundation.
